Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:13 AM PST Reddit, I love you so much. Im a self funded bootstrapping entrepreneur and took the leap of faith 6 months ago to start a term sheet negotiating platform called Negotiable (negotiableapp.com). After months of hard work building the platform out, getting feedback, iterating, and forming some strategic partnerships, I just had my first user convert from a free member to paid subscription! I am over the moon right now and cannot thank you all enough for the great information and posts to pump me up everyday. [link] [comments] |
My app is featured on the iOS App Store right now, how would you ride this wave? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:34 AM PST Tweet with a screenshot. How would you market this? Would you reach out to blogs? Which ones? This feature is completely unexpected. [link] [comments] |
Your daily reminder that you only have to be right ONCE Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:33 AM PST ...to change your life. Keep throwing the ball at the baseball bat: you never know what customers are actually going to love. Hitting home-run might be random as fuck. I spent a fortune and thousands of hours on my first book. Nothing crazy happened when published. My skill is post-processing photos. I uploaded to my website my preset a week ago and it sells like crazy. Reminder that you actually never know what people will buy. So keep TRYING. Keep PRODUCING. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:36 PM PST So I'm not an entrepreneur at all, I'm 15 and just started watching Gary V. and I've became very interested in entrepreneurship. Are there any tips that anybody could give that have helped them in entrepreneurship? [link] [comments] |
Ultimate guide to Facebook ad metrics Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:52 AM PST Hey r/Entrepreneur Redditors, I created this internal guide for myself to try to interpret Facebook ad metrics. It has come out of the result of extensive Facebook ad testing, as well as discussions with multiple different Facebook ad agencies about the same topics. I don't think there's anywhere else it's defined in this much detail available on the internet, so I hope to both beginners and seasoned Facebook marketers alike, this guide will be useful. In terms of what the abbreviations mean, it's a bit doctorly in nature: Sx = "symptoms" Ix = "how to tell if this is the right diagnosis i.e. Investigations" Dx = "diagnosis" Rx = "what to do to fix it" So, here goes - the complete guide to interpreting how your Facebook ads are performing. CTR
Landing Page Views
Frequency
Higher Level With Purchases
----- Hope you find this useful! I wrote this post because it would be helpful for other people, but also wanted to be transparent and say I'd like to plug this guide I wrote as well about an A-Z approach to Facebook marketing. If you've ever wondered about what types of audiences to target, how much to spend per ad set, what sort of ad creatives work best, and those sorts of questions - then this is pretty much my brain dump to all of the above question after spending thousands on Facebook ads myself. That said, I would think the above diagnosis of metrics to be complete in and of itself. If anyone has any suggestions/changes to this guide, too, I'm all ears. [link] [comments] |
Have you ever successfully flipped an app? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 01:21 PM PST I'm interested in buying an app from an online market place like Flippa.com. Can anyone share their experience with this process and the successes or failures from that? [link] [comments] |

Building an Audience - The Next Step Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:35 AM PST Hi Reddit, I've posted here before. Overall the feedback I get from Reddit is pretty useful and I'm looking to Reddit again to run an idea off you guys. Currently - I run a small commercial cleaning/handyman business. Its all me, myself and I. Totally self employed. At one point I really thought I could build this into something: Hire staff, focus on sales, the whole thing. But - inexperience, market conditions, competition... it hasn't worked out. We pay the bills, but its not something I want to pursue anymore. I'm thinking of just getting a job. Other people say " You're to entrepreneurial, you have something here - build on it. " So before I say "DONE" - I'm putting this out there. Let me give you some more background. Surprise ! I have a B.Comm in Marketing ! Cleaning is just something I fell into. Long story short: I was laid off from my job some years ago and decided to go on my own. Ended up cleaning offices. You can imagine its not exactly what I had in mind. Now for the idea. Nothing very original, nothing that hasn't been done before. The idea is to build an online audience by filming my handyman work, posting on Youtube, doing Facebook lives. Basically showing people how I work: From the time I get the call to do the handy work, to me going to the store to buy the materials, going to the job site, getting the work done and seeing the clients reaction. The idea is to grow that online following to a certain size. When we get to a certain size, I could start approaching stores, brands and ask them if they would be willing to sponsor an episode featuring their products... the whole thing. We can set up an online store where we can sell their brands, or set up links.... The end goal is the following: I'm making money from the handywork to pay the bills. Meh - not very interesting ( don't get me wrong - I like doing it, but I'm not laughing to the bank or achieving my career goals ). But - Now I would have something to get excited about. Hustling for more views, a larger audience.... online social media marketing and finally some sort of a passive income. So what do you guys think ? In addition: - This is all new to me. Any tips ? Any good websites or articles I should read before about using social media to create an audience ? - Dumb question: Do I get a gopro for this ? Any easy to use video editing websites ? Thanks Redditors [link] [comments] |
Who do you use for on demand printing of promotional items? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 08:26 AM PST I had a great idea for a online store, just selling shirts/hats/stickers/etc for a local market. Obviously don't want to hold any inventory and do the fulfillment. I've used cafepress in the past but that was like 10 years ago so I was curious if you guys/gals had any thoughts? What's the best way of starting a kids party business? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 01:43 PM PST My girlfriend's colleague is for one reason or another always suggesting business ideas for me. One that I really liked was doing Marvel themed birthday parties, where the kids would try and hunt for infinity stones and they were all dressed up as various heroes. I know I'd need probably need to trial this for a friend's kids birthday, get some pictures and then use that as advertising on Facebook. Would I need to get some kind of insurance for this? What other things would I need to consider when doing this as well? [link] [comments] |
Would a microwave oven that could heat thick items evenly all the way through be desirable? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 01:24 PM PST How much more would people pay for it? Or does the current microwave work good enough? I know there are some crazy things out there like superconductor microwaves but they are so expensive. I'm talking something that just improved upon the consumer design. Would anyone actually replace theirs if it could do this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2019 01:13 PM PST Hey Guys! Before I begin, my consulting services are noted, however I'm happy to offer free mentor ship and advice to anyone who's willing to ask for some!❤️ I'm offering my consulting services to a few lucky redditors on this sub that I see ambition in, and I feel that I could turn into successes. I've ran many ecommerce stores and started my first store on Shopify about 5 Years ago, which generated over $50,000 in just the first 6 months. If you know about business, and how detrimental capital is, keep in mind I was broke at the time and started with around $1,900 . So don't let that stop you. My services prices depending on what you require vary. However, I will be there with you every step of the way, I work 16 hour days 6 days a week ( I don't work on Sundays, unless emergency situation, or simple help needed via text/email/Reddit chat/etc.) What I can do for you: I have around 50-100 ideas right off the bat that I know are profitable & fail proof, so I'll generally ask you what niche you're looking to work in, or help you decide on one based on pros/cons of each. Then I'll provide options of what you could sell, based on the niche we decide on. The fun part begins once we've got your product/products decided on.
I can guarantee Instant traffic generation through my influencer list that I manage. So the initial marketing is free of cost once we go live. I have email lists in multiple niches, which have consented to receiving promotional emails from multiple brands/niches. Around 100,000 contacts. I also have SMS marketing lists exceeding 10,000 numbers for a text blast. I'll make the rest short and sweet: - Help you create your own email list with optimized web traffic conversion rate of 17-26% .
My rates: Generally I charge a flat rate setup fee + charge a percentage of revenue. It depends on what we agree on. An example would be: $1,500 Setup & Consulting Fee + 20% of Revenue Generated $2,500 Setup & Consulting Fee + 15% of Revenue Generated $5,000 Setup & Consulting Fee + 10% of Revenue Generated. I'm flexible and if I like you and see ambition, then I can work with pricing / cut out revenue generated costs or discount on consulting fee. The reason I take a % of your revenue should not be taken as a bad thing, remember, your success is my success. So if you do well I make more money. My goal is for you to succeed. Which is also why I need persistent, ambitious, and dedicated clients. I'd rather not take your money or waste our time if you don't want to put in the effort. I hope that's understood. As my title mentioned I am providing a promotional rate for my fellow Redditors here. Usually I charge : ( Not my rate for any clients interested, just for reference. I am more than happy to answer questions for free, and offer mentor ship for free. If you require consulting and want to start your own business then we can talk pricing.) $10k + 20% $15k + 15% $20K + 10% $30K + 5% $50K + 0% All contracts are 18 months and renewable. The fee is a one time fee, you don't pay me after that other than for revenue agreements. Look forward to hearing from anyone interested! Reddit chat me or email at darien3121@gmail.com . Let's make some money together!! Regards, Darien3118 [link] [comments] |
I need advice on how to handle a client who did not understand the scope Posted: 05 Nov 2019 07:13 AM PST Hi all, So I run a web/mobile app development company that specializes in large scale projects and I'm really upset about the way a project has been going with a client. She's been amazing and is a super nice person, it's not her fault at all, but I feel like she didn't really understand what she was getting into with our project because of her lack of technical understanding. She wants a somewhat simple web application and while discussing I laid out probably 4 or 5 times exactly what she wants and discussed that she can either provide full mockups (I described it as a screenshot of her website 3 months from now when it's done and spoke about this many many times as well as sending her examples of mockups from other clients who OK'd me) or I can provide it myself as I have a professional designer on staff. She didn't want to pay for the designs to be professionally done and said she'd provide them, no big deal. So when she finally provided them 2 weeks late, all I got was a logo. She didn't seem to understand that I needed full mockups and she seemed upset when I laid out what I needed, even though I made sure to mention this AND write in our contract exactly what was going to be done. Now I feel horrible like I misled her by accident, but I also don't know how I can explain it any more simply. I can understand if she doesn't know what I'm saying if I mentioned SQL queries and OAuth2 and stuff like that, but to not understand what I meant when I explain many times what I need design-wise I feel like is on her, but I want your guys' opinion. I hate this because I want her to be happy and not feel ripped off, but I don't want to do all of the free work of doing these designs myself especially when she opted out of paying for them. I'm not concerned about any legal action or anything along those lines, I've laid everything out in excruciating detail, but I just want her to be happy. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2019 09:22 AM PST I have a friend who is selling his website. Its been around for many years and at one point, was very successful and the primary site for the niche. He hasnt received offers based on his asking price which seems high. A couple of issues: There is nothing proprietary, someone can build a similar site for a fraction of the cost. They would still have to get members and companies to become customers, but it can be done. There are about 2k existing members and many company clients, but there are no long term contracts/agreements, so that could stop at anytime. The finances show about a loss of about 30% of net each year over the last few years. Biggest competition is one other main site and social media. Income comes from monthly and yearly membership fees and ads run for companies for this niche. One thought was a payment system spread over a few years based on each years net. What is the best way to value a company like this? There isnt much in terms of overall expenses and nothing much in terms of actual product or inventory for assets. [link] [comments] |
(Probably) Having to close my small business. Whay next? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 12:23 PM PST A bit of background: I am 27 years old and I have been running a small brick and mortar vape shop for the past 5 years. It is looking like impending regulations will be forcing me to close the doors to my small store sometime in the next month or so. It is highly unfortunate as this is not a case of "I failed and this is what I have to do." I've personally made $100K/year+ the past 3 years and each year has been better than the previous financially speaking. The whole process over the past couple of months has been highly stressful and has somewhat discouraged me from starting something new and building it from the ground up again. As much as this sucks, I feel I have a trememdous amount of value to someone am looking forward to applying that value in a corporate structure with real resources and to have some of the personal pressure lifted off my shoulders. My biggest concern is that I will not appear hireable. I have never worked FOR anyone and have never really been part of a team. I've read that recruiters generally frown upon hiring entrepreneurs due to our "unwillingness to take direction." Prior to opening my business, I went to college between the ages of 18-20 (didn't graduate, it was a 4 year university) and the 2 years in between I traded cryptocurrency. So I have never had a "real" job. I just do not know where to begin. How to write my resumé in a way where I will appear desirable and what types of jobs to look for that include the level of income that is on par with what I need to cover my personal expenses which are based on a 6 figure income (car lease, mortgage etc). Fortunately my soon to be wife makes plenty of money to carry us over for a few months so I do not have to settle just to make ends meet. Is there a particular way I should be wording my resumé to appeal to corporate recruiters? For those who have gone from entrepreneur to the corporate world, what types of jobs interested you and what were you a true fit for? Where should I begin? [link] [comments] |
Best way to organize clients, contract agreements, estimates, invoices and receipts? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:53 AM PST I'm getting some traction and need more organization. I do kitchen/bathroom and home improvement work. I have a file cabinet and I was thinking of having hanging file folders by clients name alphabetically. Inside this folder will be a manilla folder with contract agreement, estimate, invoice and receipts for the job. What do you do when you do multiple jobs for a single client though? Also I feel like receipts are tricky and easy to get lost because of their size, but also because they lay over to over things as well [link] [comments] |
Sponsoring YouTube videos as part of marketing Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:41 AM PST Do you know these YT videos "this video is sponsored by X, bla bla" said by the channel owner? Has anyone made good results being a sponsor that translated into sales or do most viewer just ignore these messages anyway? [link] [comments] |
Ecommerce store 15,000 orders per month. Where in the USA should i open my own warehouse? Posted: 04 Nov 2019 08:38 PM PST Hello fellow entrepreneurs, I have built up my online eCommerce business to 15,000+ orders per month over 3 years using a large fulfillment center. Once I hit 10k orders per month I started crunching numbers on my fulfillment center costs and I believe I can save between 200 to 400k per year off my bottom line by opening my own warehouse. I am in a unique position having the opportunity to move to any location in the USA. My company is incorporated in NJ. Important factors I am looking into include shipping costs, shipping times, taxes and warehouse rent costs. I ship a large portion of my packages to east and west coasts so being in the middle would be ideal. I'm not too worried about livability or anything non-business related. I am looking for space to rent between 10,000 to 15,000 sqf. Please shoot me any and all advice! [link] [comments] |
Why do most business operations podcast suck? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 11:06 AM PST I was looking at a lot of project management podcasts and most of them suck. I listen to multiple project management podcasts and almost none are giving away straightforward advice like I do. Exhibit A and Exhibit B So, I've asked around if they would be interested in a business operations podcast where they are able to get real actionable advice from real professionals as opposed to some hooky advice from someone who was trying to sell their book or their course. Right now, I am looking for guests for the podcast who are just regular entrepreneurs. They don't have to be superheroes, they don't need to be very accomplished, they just have to be still in the game. If that sounds like you, feel free to shoot me a PM on Reddit. IF you have any questions about the podcast, feel free to ask me questions in the comments below and I'll answer them right away within 24 hours. Thanks, Andrew [link] [comments] |
How to ask potential customers to join mailing list? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:59 AM PST Hey guys, we are developing a B2B SaaS platform but I was wondering what would be the best way to write a cold email to potential prospects to join our mailing list before our launch (approx 2 months away). We have created a list of extremely targeted prospects and want to reach out to them via cold email. Just finding an effective way to craft an email without being salesy and genuinely want to keep them in the loop about what we are developing and how it solves their own problems, and create some warm leads in the process. PS: The idea is validated and we have a website (though haven't made it yet). Would really appreciate some insights. [link] [comments] |
Have an idea for a gaming/social app Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:41 AM PST Title says it all I'm thinking of getting someone to make me a compelling ad video for kickstarter to see if people are actually interested in it and can fund it but who do I go to to make the app the features and servers and testing and all that?? Personally I think it's promising but it's all about what others think [link] [comments] |
Hashtags, do they really work? Posted: 05 Nov 2019 10:37 AM PST So as most people here I have read in the past few months that hashtags are the new best way to grow your account and get organic reach. As I grow a lot of accounts myself I decided to try and grow one with using hashtags only with no other methods. I thought it could not be that hard , right? Just google one of those hashtag generators, copy/paste a few relevant hashtags and I would get 1M followers in a month, I did not, big shock. It turns out it is not as easy as it sounds , but it does in fact work. After my big failure and not being able to sleep for a few weeks */s* I continued to gather as much information as possible, test and learn as much as I could and try to improve the hashtags I am using. I stopped looking at "similar hashtags" and blindly copy/pasting from other accounts but in turn started looking at other scientifically proven metrics */s* like the most used hashtags in the past 24 hours. Which of these corresponds with my niche and how relevant to me they are. From there I started researching the average amount of engagement on the Top 9 posts. How many likes they have and how many a post needs to get up there with the big boys. How long does a post stay up there and what kind of engagement it brings to the page for every hour it stays a Top post. The more time I put into this the better results I started having with my accounts and honestly I could not believe the difference it makes so I decided to conduct a little experiment on the account I mentioned at the begging of this post, the one I wanted to grow from 0. In just a few days it actually grew, not to a million but a fair 2k with no actions other then posting and using the right hashtags. I decided to post 2 posts, one with hashtags from a generator website and one with my well researched hashtags, I was so sure in them that I posted the one with the random hashtags at a time when my account is the most active, and I posted the one with researched hashtags 4 hours later. Now 20 hours in these are the results! https://i.imgur.com/9XD0bDE.png https://i.imgur.com/PXmCJMs.png From what you can see a post that has been live for 4 hours longer managed to have less impressions both from home, hashtags and reach less people that are not following the account. It goes to show that instagram actually values the engagement in the first 15 minutes of posting. To break it down, less impressions from home mean that instagram did not decide that the post was "worthy" enough to be shown within the top of the home page due to its poor engagement. It had almost no hashtag reach = 12 compared to =3+k And the most important metric at least to me, 82% of the people who saw this post were not my followers, you can understand how important this is without me having to explain. I know that to people who are not into instagram these numbers seem a small but it is a small account, and it has to target smaller hashtags where it can be relevant , a bigger account does a lot better with a good research.
