Dental Insurance, Dentist Made a Mistake Posted: 05 Oct 2019 02:05 AM PDT Saw dentist for a filling, the office gave me a different dentist who I never had before. She messed up, the filling is still visible. I called the office, to see if the usual dentist I see could fix it. They said no, their policy is to have the dentist who messed up fix it. I've had issues with this dental office before, so I'm finding a new one. But they probably billed my insurance about the filling they messed up. How can I get my tooth filled properly and still have insurance cover? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 04:48 PM PDT A mom hit my car and the police gave her a ticket for failing to yield. I was advised by my insurance not to file a claim because it could raise my rates. It didn't make any sense to me that it would be better for me to file a claim by myself against the insurance company of the driver that hit me. Did I make the right choice listening to my insurance company and not filing a claim? [link] [comments] |
Geico told us my boyfriend was covered and now they’re saying he isn’t (FL) Posted: 04 Oct 2019 04:05 PM PDT April of 2019 my boyfriend and I were involved in a car accident. It was no one's fault. I hit a tire tread and my car got totaled. My boyfriend had to go to the hospital to get stitches. We both had geico at the time (I don't anymore), but different accounts. I had a full coverage and he had partial. Both of our claim assistants said both of our medical bills would be covered by my insurance and some of his for his bills. After a few weeks of doctors appointments and stuff I was declared not at fault. Well fast forward to now and the hospital is contacting my boyfriend for $1600 that insurance didn't cover and the chiropractor he went to also says they didn't cover any of his bill. We spoke to Geico again and now they're saying they never said that and they were only ever going to pay 80% of his hospital bill (he had to take an ambulance to the emergency room so it was a big bill). My insurance didn't pay anything towards his and only payed my bills. I don't have the phone call recorded of them saying this so I don't have any evidence to show them they did say it. Is this really how it works? It seems stupid that my boyfriend has to pay for these bills when he wasn't even the one driving. He doesn't have medical insurance so this is all out of pocket for us now. What really blows is he actually got full coverage that same day because we were on our way to get a new car for him, but it was after the accident :/ [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 06:02 PM PDT Denied* I bought a phone and I bought a device insurance with it. Then one time I had a vacation I bought a dry bag where I put my device in so I can swim with my device safely. On the first day my device was dry but on the 2nd day the dry bag had a leak (no holes in the bag) and the device got wet. I asked the insurance company to check it because it covers liquid damage (free repair or replace the device). They denied my claim and they told me it was negligence because I brought the phone with me in the water. Was it really negligence? I put the device on the dry bag that I thought would be safe. Got minor damage to car, but will need a new bumper. How do I do claim? I’m at no fault. Posted: 04 Oct 2019 11:19 PM PDT Was at a stop sign waiting to turn onto a road and a car took a left and hit a cop car and both of them came my way. Didn't have enough time to get completely out of the way and cop car struck my bumper, swiping it and pushing it in. Not severe, but as I'm passionate about my car and it's still fairly new, I want it fixed properly. Can't get the police report until next week, and I'd rather deal with the claims then. I'm in college and under my parents insurance (for money reasons). What's the best way to handle this? Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Umbrella Insurance Claim Examples Posted: 04 Oct 2019 07:09 AM PDT I have been carrying a 1M umbrella policy for many years. Everyone seems to think having it is a good thing. Is there anyone who can share an example of when their umbrella insurance policy covered something? I would like to be reminded of why I am paying the premium. TIA [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 09:48 PM PDT Hey guys how's it going, was lurking around to find some info and stumbled here. I'm currently in a bit of a predicament. Today as I was driving home from school I got into an accident and hit another car who failed to yield properly at a light. I hit him pretty hard enough to deploy my airbags and destroy my front end. I've never had to deal with this so I'm not entirely sure what happens next. The officer gave me a case# and said it would be ready shortly. What I'm wondering is what do I do next? My car is insured but not full coverage nor am I on the insurance, it's my parents and they let me use it. My mom called the insurance and they said they needed a claim number I believe so I imagine I'll have that when they upload the case. Also, it's a couple of hours past now and with the adrenaline settled down I'm starting to have really bad back pain. I want to go get checked out but I also don't have health insurance. Would their insurance cover this? I'm sure I'm fine but I just want to make sure because it doesn't feel too great. Essentially will I get money back to get a new car? Because I'm fairly certain they're going to consider it totaled. Since I'm not on the insurance and it's not full coverage will I be alright? Another thing, the officer said that the accident was the other cars fault and he will take full liability. Sorry for asking so much, I've never been in an accident and I kind of need a car since I'm in school and I work and stuff. Thank you all your help is very appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Covered California denied me even though I have a qualifying life event? Posted: 04 Oct 2019 07:59 PM PDT In the application I stated that I just lost my insurance less than two weeks ago. If this happens within 90 days of your application, it's a qualifying life event that allows you to enroll at any time. Yet they still denied me. I am trying to purchase a PPO as I have a lot of health issues. I now have to wait until October 15th to apply when open enrollment begins. It is not that long, but I am worried about not having insurance. You can appeal the decision but it takes 90 days. What a bullshit system. [link] [comments] |
Medical Insurance Pre Authorization Question Posted: 04 Oct 2019 07:32 PM PDT I had a CT scan before needed pre authorization, recently had a medical procedure done cost was 25,000 billed to insurance, 10,000 of which they paid and 15,000 was discounted away. No pre-authorization required. So baffling to me, how a CT that couldn't cost more than $3,000 needs pre authorization, but a medical procedure that requires an overnight hospital stay does not. One that cost many times more. What is the logic in this . [link] [comments] |
Person At Fault Does Not Answer Her Insurance - Arizona Posted: 04 Oct 2019 07:03 PM PDT Hello, A lady hit my car. Acted crazy and denied responsibility and then took responsibility after talks and witnesses. I talked to her insurance and gave them my statement. Called them again over a period of 3 weeks, and they keep saying their insured doesn't answer their calls. They said they cannot proceed in the claim without her statement. I know I can go to small claims court with evidence, estimate for repairs, and probably win a judgement against her, but how will this work?
Thank you. Arizona [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 04:14 PM PDT She is in the green card process so she is legal to be in the country but she does not have a green card or ssn number. The form my work gave me to add her to my insurance requires an ssn number. Is there any way to insure her without one? [link] [comments] |
What does a career in Insurance Portfolio Analyst look like? What's the experience like? What type of skills/personality do you need? What's the typical progression like? Thanks to anyone who responds [link] [comments] |
Involved in accident, confused by the insurance process Posted: 04 Oct 2019 03:46 PM PDT location California, USA My sedan was rear ended by a big SUV and pushed into the car in front of me, totaling my car. My current insurance coverage is 100/100 bodily injury, 50,000 property liability, and $3500 uninsured motorist property damage. I don't have collision because I can't have it with uninsured motorist and I don't have full coverage. I was also running an errand for work. I opened a claim with my insurance but it is already closed. Would the person behind me's insurance cover the cost of my now totaled car? I also was unable to put in the police report ID because it hasn't been filed yet, and can take up to 10 days to be put in the system. [link] [comments] |
Are vehicle extended warranties worth it? Posted: 04 Oct 2019 09:40 AM PDT My wife and I are looking into getting a preowned, mid-size SUV in a month or so. We're thinking a Nissan Rogue or something similar (4wd, big enough for 2 kids plus storage space). For the price we're looking to spend we'll get something that's a 2016 or a 2017 with about 25k-30k miles from a reputable dealership. We live in the Denver, CO metro area and often drive in the mountains and on easy 4wd/dirt roads to get to hikes. There might be a factory warranty left, but that's probably only 3-5 years on the car and up to 30k miles or so. Just wondering if it would be a good investment or a waste of money. Thanks! Non-owner policy or get added to girlfriend's parent's policy? Posted: 04 Oct 2019 12:51 PM PDT I recently moved in with my girlfriend and do not have my own vehicle. What makes the most sense for me to get insurance in this situation? Non-owner policy or can I be added onto her parents insurance? My GF briefly discussed this with them and they are open to doing that and I would just pay for any increase in their premium. Context: -Her car title is in both her name and her fathers name -Her insurance is through her parents policy -We live together in an apartment, across the country from her parents, have plates for the car in our state -I was never in any accidents when I was on my parents insurance policy from 2010-15 -1 speeding ticket for 7 over in 2016 (this was actually when I was driving her previous vehicle on a road trip together) -neither of us use the car to commute Also, any ideas what this might cost? We are in Washington. Thank you for any help you can offer. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 12:48 PM PDT I (M21) decided to go through a brokerage to get insurance this year. I found the coverage I wanted (full) and got the price also. I went through the process and got everything set up, and today I got an email saying that if I don't sign up for the driving tracker bs that my insurance will go up 368 PER MONTH. I specifically told the broker originally that I did not want any tracker in my car as its an invasion of privacy. What do I do now? Any help is much appreciated. [link] [comments] |
How to coordinate health insurance? (Marketplace + spouse) Posted: 04 Oct 2019 12:47 PM PDT Hello! Thank you in advance for any guidance. I'm 9 months pregnant and expecting our first child at the end of this month or first week of November. Since January 2019, my spouse and I have paid for Marketplace insurance. Around mid-year, my spouse switched jobs which enrolled him in a Union, we JUST got the health insurance benefits by end of September through BCBS. Sounds cool right? Well..the caveat is....my husband just recently accepted a different position (city-employed) which offers health insurance on the FIRST day of employment. They want him to start this month. What should we do?? I know I'll have to make a few phone calls but if we have 3 overlapping insurances I'm not sure how big of a headache this will be when I give birth. It already feels overwhelming with my frequency of OB visits. How do we go about making sure everything is coordinated and won't get denied? [link] [comments] |
Please help, car insurance and panicking Posted: 04 Oct 2019 11:19 AM PDT Hi, I was running quotes on confused.com yesterday and I must've made about 20 quotes due to the fact I was trying altering different things some out of curiosity and some such as altering my job title (not lying) from "Waiter" to "Catering Staff" e.t.c and I tried running a quote today and I now cannot get any quotes at all, I think my name has been blacklisted because I tried on another account with the same details minus my name and I can still get the quotes. Is there a cooldown period for this does anyone know? I don't want to contact them as they could see it as fraud and I could be in trouble. Thank you in advance, I'm actually shitting myself. Car accident while doing something for work Posted: 04 Oct 2019 08:50 AM PDT Hello, This occurred in NY and was found to be not at fault by insurance. I took a day off and got into a car accident on my way to take a test for professional reasons and because my work requires that exam. I am a salaried employee, not per hour. There was damage to the car and I was injured. I called my auto insurance and they are saying that this is a workers compensation. The auto insurance says they will be a secondary claim. (I think the auto insurance was referring to the injury part, and that the car related expenses they will still pay. If someone can shed light on this too, that will be helpful) I did not speak to workers comp yet. Question 1: I want to remain truthful to the situation, but I am will leave out information if it helps keeping me covered. My concern is that both parties will decline coverage for me and that neither will accept the blame. Is this possible? Or will no matter what, I will be covered? And to what monetary value would i be covered for? Question 2: Moreover, I told the auto insurance that I was on the clock since I was taking an exam for work. My definition of "on the clock" and their definition is likely different. By their definition, I think they though I was clocked in for work, but I am a salaried employee. Should I call the auto insurance and add this information? I feel the more i talk the worse the situation gets and I don't want to talk anymore. I did not get a lawyer yet because I do not believe my injury will exceed the limit for my car insurance. Please let me know if I can help clarify anything. Edited: Added that i was found to be not at fault by insurance. Edited: Added the fact that i said I was on the clock, and some formatting [link] [comments] |
California car insurance question Posted: 04 Oct 2019 08:10 AM PDT If I bumped a car and the cost to fix it is 575 including car rental, should I expect my insurance to go up? My understanding is rates don't increase unless it's over a 1000 dollars. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Oct 2019 04:48 AM PDT Since I didn't need a car and was taking Uber/Lyft and trains into NYC as needed, I didn't have car insurance. My current insurance company, after one month now, is telling me my rates are going up because I don't have proof of insurance for 6 months prior to September. Can I use Lyft's proof of insurance since that was my standard mode of transportation for the past 8-9 months? https://lyft-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/helpcenter/coi/new_jersey.pdf [link] [comments] |
