Posted: 03 Aug 2019 06:06 AM PDT Welcome to this week's Peer Support and Self Management Thread. This is a Safe Place to Vent, Seek Emotional Support, Share Self Management Techniques and Experiences, or Just Rant. The goal for this thread is to help one another manage mental and physical health so we can more easily find success. We all struggle sometimes and it is important to recognize that the struggle is part of the journey. The important thing is to learn how to overcome that adversity to grow and succeed. Be tactful and classy in how you vent your feelings and share your frustrations. Act in a mature manner. Ask questions, share experiences, and be there for one another. Practice empathy in giving advice and remember that what worked for you isn't guaranteed to work for others. Make suggestions, not demands of others. #Because this is meant to be a safe place to support emotional and physical health there is a zero tolerance policy in effect. Be KIND. Be sure to report any conduct that is in violation of that key tenet. You can also find more support using instant chat on the /r/startups discord. [link] [comments] |
How to go about creating an app without any programming experience? Posted: 03 Aug 2019 08:25 PM PDT I was chatting with a family member today and we agreed that the current app we were using for our purpose was sufficient but that there are many additions that could be implemented to make the app more useful. To my knowledge from my brief research I've done there isn't anything on the market that does what we came up with. While I think the app has potential to be successful I have no knowledge on how to proceed. I have no programming or technical experience that would allow me to create it. What should my first move be? I think this may be the wrong sub but I can't think of any other that is more fitting. Please direct me if that is indeed the case! [link] [comments] |
Are there any worthwhile sites where you can find a co-founder? Posted: 03 Aug 2019 11:51 PM PDT Also on what terms is better to take a co-founder. For example, there is a ready-made startup in the beta stage, and the partnership requires a person who will take care of promotion and marketing. Will it be a certain share of the project? And how else can all this be legalized? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2019 01:50 AM PDT So, a group of developers i know finished a full system of an e-commerce platform and wanna sell it, any idea where's the best sites that might have interested buyers? Some extra info: The project contains (Website of the business - Live demo for the front end and back end of the stores they sell - Full server access along with all Business email access - ownership of the domain of course - all the project source codes and files) Any advice will be much appreciated Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2019 03:26 PM PDT Exactly how does the process go of getting someone under a 1099? I've seen people say the IRS will fine you big time for that if you get caught. This future coworker won't really be considered an employee because the app is seasonal basis and he will be paid weekly during the app "season" But for now for updates, bugs and features, i can give deferred compensation. How do i go about this legally? (Filed as an S- Corp in Delaware) [link] [comments] |
Serving Two Different Groups of Customers (Partner/Customer Dynamic) Posted: 03 Aug 2019 04:58 PM PDT I'm currently in the discovery phase for my startup, conducting user interviews and making some base-line technology decisions. My go-to-market is a bit complicated, because I'm going to be serving 2 different groups of customers, SMB & consumers. We will need SMBs to sign up to attract consumers, and obviously the more consumers we have the more SMBs we'll attract. Revenue will be coming from customer purchases. If it works, it'll provide a great network effects to grow the business. But early stages it's a real chicken and the egg situation. Right now my main focus has been user interviews on the SMB side. With hopes that I come across one that will let us work with them to build our MVP. Anyone with experience with this type of scenario? My plan right now is to focus on a small geographic area and get 2-3 SMBs to prove the concept, and grow a customer base. My hope is after getting the first one and deploying we'll gather just enough credibly to attract a few more SMBs. I have a feeling getting the first one will prove difficult. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Aug 2019 06:06 AM PDT Welcome to this week's Sunday's Success Stories Thread. A lot of us get way too hung up on the destination and the fact that we are not there yet. It is important to take a moment to reflect on a great quote from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., "The steps you take don't need to be big, they just need to take you in the right direction"- Jemma Simmons This is extremely relevant to all of us in this community. We should all be more aware of the successes we achieve every day that carry us closer to our goals. Celebrating these successes, no matter how small they are, allow us to stay motivated, focused, and happy while we struggle to achieve dreams of various sizes. The purpose of this thread is to share our successes from the week with one another and have something to celebrate together. So, let us know what successes you have achieved this week! Nothing is too small or insignificant! #Because this is meant to be a safe place to support emotional and physical health there is a zero tolerance policy in effect. Be KIND. Be sure to report any conduct that is in violation of that key tenet. You can also find more support using instant chat on the /r/startups discord. [link] [comments] |
