Posted: 08 Aug 2019 05:37 AM PDT Title is TL;DR. Went on a deployment to Guam and contracted something that's killed my pulmonary health: It hurts to breathe, I occasionally cough up blood either after waking up or exercising, I can't even go up a flight of stairs or walk for more than 20 minutes without turning into a dying fish gulping air. I was given an albuterol inhaler and that's it medication-wise. Was screened for cancer and TB, both results came back negative, was unable to get further testing done in Guam due to lack of accommodations at their hospital, am currently back in mainland US but the Navy's making it a fight to even see my primary doctor just to get a referral to see a cardiologist, radiologist and pulmonologist for follow-up testing. Every day I'm getting worse and I've been told I'm straight-up not allowed to go to a hospital or doctor outside of the military to get help, lest I face punitive measures in addition to having to pay out of pocket. What can I do? Who can I talk to? I've basically been told: unless you're actually on your deathbed, you're screwed. I'm trapped in endless diagnostics, recieving no actual care, operating at the speed of bureaucracy and I'm slowly dying. EDIT: Went to the ER, complained about the chest pain, worked like a charm. I've got a follow up appointment tomorrow and got all the referrals needed to book appointments at all the specialty clinics. EDIT 2: I appreciate all the advice and good will. For the guys PMing medical advice: it's not pneumonia or bronchitis or anything acute: was screened for those as well, symptoms have been ongoing for almost a year now from onset of symptoms. It's also only a little blood, like the amount you'd get from a paper cut. Still sucks and it's pretty alarming when it happens. [link] [comments] |
[Update] Can't return rental vehicle, final update and no real answers Posted: 08 Aug 2019 07:39 AM PDT Original: https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/cd4579/tx_rented_a_car_on_an_app_ownerrenter_has/ First update: https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/cgg52j/update_cant_return_a_rental_vehicle_cant_find/ Basically no answers sadly, sorry if you came here to find out what happened to the owner of the vehicle. The app refunded me the full original rental cost a few days after the update, I'm guessing since they deactivated/deleted the owners account that any current transactions he had were cancelled/refunded. (Really cool of the company to just remove the SINGLE form of communication I had with him directly, he wasn't responding but still wtf). I called the bank who financed the car one last time and after being on hold/transfered for about an hour I finally got to someone who said they cannot do anything. So I then told them I'll be having it towed and no longer my issue and it can be theirs when they go to recover it/find it eventually and hung up. Called the police non-emergency number to report a vehicle that meets all legal requirements to be considered abandoned on my property and had it towed. The cop who showed up took a statement at my request just so I can have it all fully put down on paper everything I did so if something comes up later it'll be at least fully documented somewhere. So that's it, an update that leaves more questions than answers. Thanks for the help, the statue on towing an abandoned vehicle from private property was extremely helpful. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 04:11 AM PDT Obviously my little brother didn't do it, so he was extremely frightened and confused when the father, a grown man, approached him menacingly and began strangling him while making death threats, right there on the playground. My brother ran home, crying, and the man followed him, taking a picture of him while he was inside the house through the open door. Being my mom's colleague, he knew that she was at work at that there were no adults present in the house. When my mom returned, we went out to meet him and an altercation occurred where he and his wife were insulting us and accusing my little brother, as well as taking pictures ( even though we had told them not to and photography without consent is illegal where we are ). The compound manager, who was present, then ordered the man to delete all pictures of us, which he claimed he did. We then took it to the police, where he was forced to sign a contract ensuring that he had deleted all pictures of us, that he would stay away from my little brother, and that he would send an email apologizing ( after the incident he went around the compound spreading lies to people that my little brother was a "pervert" and even calling for action, telling them to keep their children away from him. After signing the contract, he didn't renew his work contract here and returned to his home of Canada. There's absolutely no evidence on his side that my little brother molested his daughter. My little brother goes to a co-Ed school, and there was never an incident where he did anything to a girl. He was 9 years old for God's sake! Meanwhile, the man has a reputation in the compound for abusing his wife and trespassing. Just today, he sent an email from Canada titled 'Never Forget'. The contents were a string of profanity followed by pictures of us - pictures he signed he had deleted! What's the best course of action we can take? [link] [comments] |
Daughters School is alienating her is there any action I can take? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:12 AM PDT My daughter has a stomach disease that limits what she can and cannot eat. Her school has a meal program that costs $2k for the school year unless you provide a doctor's note stating that she has special dietary needs in which case you may pack her a lunch. My wife has taken the time to get the doctor's note and try to adhear to the guidelines of the school lunches but the school is now telling us that they have an audit coming up and she has to either have a better lunch prepared for her or she has to get on the meal plan. They have begun checking her lunch every morning before they even let her in the classroom. If the lunch isn't up to their standards they turn her away. Please tell me is there anything we can do. Location Marietta, GA. Edit: I will answer the questions that I can but my wife will have far more answers for you guys. Once she gets off work she will chime in. [link] [comments] |
Employer is taking away a large portion of my income. Do I have any recourse? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 05:00 AM PDT I will try to keep this as straight to the point as possible. This affects a lot of people and those affected will recognize this situation almost immediately. I work for a large retailer. Circa 2012, the retailer decided that they would stop paying out spiffs/commissions in order to "better serve it's customers". This would mean a lot of employees losing a lot of income. In order to offset this loss, the company decided to calculate an individuals spiff/commission income for the previous year (2011), cut that figure in half, then divide that figure equally into each paycheck annually, referring to this as an allowance. We were told that this would be a source of "dependable income" for us and that so long as we stayed within a store-side hourly position, we would continue to receive this allowance. As worded in the communication sent out, we would only ever lose this if we moved to one of a few indicated positions, or left the company. The wording on the communication does not state other reasons they could terminate this program. It was announced this week that my company has decided to do away with this program. I am currently in the process of getting my hands on any documents I can find regarding the allowance when it was first rolled out. The common consensus however is that everyone who was receiving this was told it would be a part of our wages so long as we were still employed with our company. This will be effecting several hundred employees if not more. Do we have any recourse regarding this matter? Edit: as some of you have already suggested, I've been job hunting well before this change occurred. Admittedly, since I'm still employed, I've been very selective with any offers that have come my way. It looks like it will be less selective moving forward. If anyone has any suggestions where retail management can directly translate into another non-retail position, I'm all ears. Thanks everyone! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:38 AM PDT Long story short, I'm a 21 years old. Gay/trans whatever. Get messaged by another twink out of the blue. He sends me face pics and a dick pick (didn't save but it's still in the chat history can't delete other people's messages). I think he's cute, but he looks young. I press further into it, find out he's 17. I keep talking to him because tbh I was on Grindr when i was 16 so i empathized. I did a lot of stupid stuff too at that age especially on this app. But the conversation progressed. He started telling me about how he used to play around with boys when he was in middle school. Okay, fine, had my gay experiences growing up. I told him how i have interactions with my baseball teammates, just tryna empathized. But then he asks, "Did those experiences make you attracted to younger people?" and at first I was confused so i replied that age isn't a thing to me, I just try to keep it reasonable. And then he said, "No I mean like kids". I thought he was accusing me of being a pedophile, so I quickly said no im not attracted to kids obviously. He then told me he is. My jaw dropped at this. I never would have thought someone would just be so open about this. I asked him if he's ever acted on it, he's told me no. He said the closest thing he's done is sucked off his younger brother when they were 13. I don't know how young the brother is. I want to go to the police, or something. This kid needs help and I feel obligated to report him before he hurts anyone. The vibe I'm getting is someone who really wants to act on his urges even though he knows they're wrong, and that seems like a ticking time bomb. Who do I report this too? My biggest fear is being charged with possession of CP because I've continued this conversation for so long. I just wanted to empathize with a kid who is doing the same stupid shit I did when I was his age. I have no intention of sleeping with him, and I'm absolutely terrified of getting in trouble if I turn over the chat logs. I feel like I'm at a catch-22 where if I do the right thing and report him, I'll get arrested, but if I don't report him then I'm inadvertently allowing a child to be molested. What the fuck do I do?? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 08:44 PM PDT Ok. Where to start? So back in the beginning of 2016 I was in the midst of splitting with my now ex husband. He had assaulted me and took my vehicle. He refused to bring it back. I was the one on the loan and making the payments and also the only registered owner. The police told me I couldn't report it stolen because we were married and it was more of a civil matter. For months I looked for it and almost recovered it myself twice. I called the bank that I got the car loan from and asked them for assistance finding it. They tried to find it to no avail. I stopped making payments because I had my whole life flipped upside down and was starting over, living in a homeless shelter, and walking everywhere with no bus service in a rural area with below freezing temps. It didn't make sense to put my money into a car I no longer had. The bank charged it off and its on my credit. For over three years I have wondered what happened to my Escalade. Today I get a certified letter from the Bonner's County Sheriffs office informing me that a 2004 Cadillac Escalade registered in my name is in their possession and ready for release. I was blown away. I called and found out that it had been there since March of 2016 and was involved in a police pursuit. The deputy apologized that I was never informed before and let me know it's tires are all flat, it has a broken window, and is full of some tweaker's stuff. Some dude I've never even heard of was caught driving it. The deputy told me that the officer on the case left the department shortly after the incident that brought my vehicle to them and some how it has just sat there without informing me until now. I'm kind of pissed off because if they told me when they first recovered it the outcome would have been so different. I would have had continued to make payments and recovered the vehicle. Instead it has sat there forever and now I have a charge off on my credit report. What should I do? The officer is trying to contact the bank to see what they want to do, but I'm so mad they never called me and I get to take the hit for some stupid oversight from some cop that probably didn't care. Edit: The car is registered in Washington where I reside and was picked up by police in Idaho. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:01 PM PDT Background: I work in the Film/TV business, an industry in which 90% of people receive paychecks instead of direct deposit. I work a myriad of jobs(Production Assistant, background extra, stand in). It's basically like freelance. Each job, you fill out a packet with your info/address that goes to the payroll company dealing with that job so they can send your check out. For some jobs you are dealing with the same payroll companies, some different. JUNE 24th is the last day I received any mail from the post office. I moved on July 1st from queens to Manhattan. Starting June 24th, I started putting my cousin's address on all new job vouchers as I didn't know where I'd be living on July 1st(found the place last minute). Even after I moved, I kept using my cousin's address. As the days go by, we're noticing that I'm receiving NO MAIL/PAYCHECKS at his address. Days turn to weeks. It usually takes about 2 weeks from the work date that you receive the checks. I start calling up payroll companies from all the different jobs and start giving them shit but they were all saying that checks have been sent out. Once multiple companies confirmed checks had been sent out, the post office was the next suspect. I called them almost 3 weeks ago on a thurs or friday and an investigation began. I got a case number from the post office. I also decided to go to my cousin's local post office to see if I could track down any of the mail. They sent me to 2 different locations across queens. The supervisor was rude and couldn't help other than say "If it's not here then they probably sent it back to the sender" I asked if there was a way to track if it was sent back, she said "Not if there's no tracking number." Customer service calls the next day saying that after investigation, they couldn't recognize my name to the address but now that I've confirmed everything, they have the go ahead to start sending my mail to the house. Monday(7/29), I get a phone call from the post office, saying that my case was moving up to higher supervisors, one who guaranteed that the postman would look out specifically for my mail. Later, I get a call saying that the postman said the mail was undeliverable because there was construction going on around the house. I ask my cousin(who is coming back from out of town) about it and he asks his landlord who confirms that there is no construction going on. Then the post office tells me that the postman saw with his own eyes that the house is actually BOARDED UP and VACANT. Absolutely fucking impossible. I argue with the lady at the local post office that that's absolutely impossible. She remains adamant that my cousin's house is vacant and that's why I can't get mail there. I can't even have any mail rerouted or held at the post office cause I've listed "a vacant address." I ask how my cousin gets mail then, they tell me that they can't tell me about my cousin as that's personal information but they can confirm that the house is vacant and to figure it out. I even get my cousin to send me a pic of his clearly lived in house. Ridiculous. I'm so pissed. The rent is due in about 4 days, I have ZERO income coming in. She suggests getting a PO Box(aka spending more money that I don't even have) which I decide is what I'm going to have to do. That same day I open up the PO Box. I call the next day(7/30), asking to speak to a customer service supervisor. I have them transfer me up to someone higher up. Angrily, I explain what's going on and how I need to re-route ALL MAIL to my PO Box. She basically tells me everything I already know. She suggests me filling out a change of address form to forward any mail with my name on it addressed to my cousin's house to my PO Box. I agree that that's what I'm going to do. Now before I hang up, I ask for my case notes that they are clearly reading to get the info on the case. She says she can't give me the case notes, and that it's against policy(AKA they are covering their incompetent asses). She says the only way I can get those case notes is by getting a lawyer/legal representative involved. I wanted the case details as I needed to go to someone to publicly shame the incompetency displayed by the USPS either through reddit or the news somehow. I must have spoken to 15 different people on the phone/gone to over 4 post offices that week. I got so much conflicting information from everyone(post office workers, customer service). "Oh, we hold it for 15 days before we send it out." "No, we don't hold it, we send it right back to the sender." To the lady who said they hold it, I asked where it would be held. No fucking idea she had. I asked if they documented these things, she said only the ones with tracking numbers. Annoying. Got so much different info from people.Anyways, I filled out a change of address that day(7/30), I felt like I insured that no checks would be going to my cousin's address as they were just being dumbfucks about it. Rent is due and I have to borrow about $1400 for different family members to pay if off as I had only $100 left and no money coming in. Not only that, but I spent most of last week calling all the payroll companies and CANCELLING all of my paychecks and updating my address in their system. I got all my checks resent out. It is now 8/7 and I have not received a single piece of mail in said PO box. Had some places re-sending out checks as early as last wednesday(7/31). It's been a full week and NOTHING. No checks. And guess what? Monday(8/5), my cousin got a receipt with my change of address form in the mail, WITH MY NAME ON IT. The same house that is supposed to be VACANT. I have no money. Used all my savings to move and to hold me for the month. I have so much anxiety that I wake up in the middle of the night with chest pain . I've been depressed the past month. Emotional distress. Have had 2 panic/anxiety attacks for the first time in my life after never ever suffering them ever. Have violent urges(don't know who to channel them to). I just want my money man. It's not fucking fair. I'd estimate not having received $6000 to $7000 of paychecks since 6/24. The post office doesn't give a fuck and I feel trapped. What can I do? All I'm doing is continuing to work knowing that I won't be receiving any of the money. I don't know how much longer I can take it. Please, someone advise me. Is there ANYTHING i can do to get these people to figure out what the issue is? This is killing me inside, I can feel it. Some more notes: I haven't heard from the PO in over a week. Seems like they just want the case to go away. I've been going to my PO Box every single day, sometimes twice a day, just to be disappointed with nothing inside. I can't even do informed delivery despite the address being valid for it. They denied me at the PO. The website denied my phone number for verification. I requested a verification code being sent my address and it's been 4 business days now and nothing. So I'm still having to go to my PO Box every day just to be disappointed. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:07 AM PDT Lease ended at the end of May, still haven't received my $500 deposit back. Emailed them in June asking when I would receive it. No response. Waited for a check. Mid July called them up to see what happened they said they'll get back to me. Called me a day later and said there was a mistake and it'll be in the mail by end of week. Early August now and still no check. Called and left them a message asking what's going on but haven't heard back. Currently at 70 days and in Michigan they have 30 days to return. No damage to place or notice that it would be less than 500, so ready to file a claim. Wondering how much I should ask for for damages. At minimum it should be what I'm spending in small claims right? [link] [comments] |
Federal Jury Duty Summons Before Wedding Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:19 AM PDT Yesterday I received a federal jury duty summons for a two week period leading up to my wedding. This is in Texas. I am getting married on Sept 7. My summons is for Aug 23-Sept 6. I have requested a postponement since on Sept 6 I have the wedding rehearsal and dinner, along with a number of other things I need to do that day to prepare for the wedding. We are leaving the next week for a two week honeymoon. How likely is this request to be granted? If it is not granted and I have to attend is there a possibility I will get selected for a jury and miss my honeymoon? [link] [comments] |
Neighbors kids are going to make me lose my mind. Is there anything I can do? Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:30 PM PDT I live in a 6 unit condo in Oregon, US. We own ours and at least one other couple in our building owns theirs, but the rest are rented out by individual landlords. Our downstairs neighbor has ten (10!!!!) kids under the age of 14 crammed into a two bed/two bath condo. We have the exact same square footage and feel a little cramped with just two people and two cats, so I don't understand how that works. We don't have air conditioning, so we keep the windows open in the summer. The kids are outside almost all the time playing in the patch of grass directly below our windows. Which is fine, but these kids scream all day long. And when I say scream, I mean SCREAM. Bloody murder. My husband was just on a business phone call, and even though we had all the windows shut, the guy awkwardly asked if a child was being murdered on our end of the line. I wear headphones and earplugs almost all the time just to keep my sanity. Now, the screaming is annoying, but it gets worse. I keep finding their toys on our second floor balcony. It seems that they throwing them at our cats. The biggest thing I've found so far is a basketball, which crushed one of my plants. The cats are afraid to hang out on the balcony now. Last week they completely de-barked two of the full grown trees in the complex. Removing all the bark from a tree kills it. They also took a claw hammer to one of them and ripped all the low hanging branches off two others. So, now our cats are being harassed, our property value is going down, and our quality of life sucks. On top of all that, I just watched them take turns licking our neighbors car, then three of them climbed on the tailgate of my husband's truck and jumped around, and then one of them hopped over my motorcycle like a pommel horse. That's when I lost it and went outside to tell them to stop touching other people's stuff. I've also seen their handprints all over the hood and roof of my car and another neighbors truck. We have tried talking to their mom. She doesn't seem to care, but she also doesn't seem to speak or read English very well. Her condo is owned by someone else, and we, along with two of our neighbors, have mentioned concerns to him several times, but nothing has ever come of it. I seriously can't take it anymore. If the mother and the landlord won't do anything, is there anything at all I can do? EDIT: forgot to mention that one of the kids is about 12-14 and nonverbal autistic. She is about the same size as me and lately has been approaching me in the parking lot. She grabs onto my arms and tries to drag me over to their patch of grass. She doesn't respond to anything I say and she's hard to get away from. Once you get out of her grip she just runs after you and does it again. I've seen her be aggressive towards the other kids, so it mostly just weirds me out but also scares me a little too. EDIT 2: so this post kind of blew up overnight, and the comments are locked now so I'm not sure if anyone will even see this. But I've read everything and have had time to think, so I feel much better informed about the situation. It is not my intention to have these kids taken away from their family, so I'll go to the HOA and fire code first, and CPS as a last resort. Thanks for all of your input. [link] [comments] |
Property sold; new owner doesn't want us filming there and won't refund our $$ Posted: 08 Aug 2019 12:03 PM PDT So a year ago we rented this house in Tennessee specifically to film a movie in it. We were very up front with the property owners. We took them through everything we were going to be doing. They were very excited about having a movie made on their property. The house is empty; the owners don't live there. We paid thousands to be able to rent for a week. We have a signed contract that says we have "use of the property". We have paid for actors from several states away to come to film. We have paid to rent equipment. We have paid thousands for costumes to be made. We have paid thousands for props. If we can't film we are out all that money. Today someone called me and says he has just bought the property and he doesn't want us filming there, and he is refusing to give back the money we paid. He says we paid to stay in it as a vacation house, and since we are supposed to be there NEXT WEEK it is too late for a refund. [link] [comments] |
A business owner made it an official challenge to send me unsolicited sexual pictures Posted: 08 Aug 2019 11:13 AM PDT An event host recently made a challenge at his event where for X amount of points you have to send a picture of your asshole to me. At first I didn't understand why I was getting unsolicited pics from people but after meeting with someone who went to their event I found out it was apart of the official event challenge. I looked online for legalities concerning unsolicited sexual pics and it didn't look like I had much of a case. Tho I am wondering if anything changes because of the nature of it coming from a business that created an official challenge to do so. The winner with the most points is given money. I've never made one of these before but I lurk often. Just curious if I have any options. Thank You. (hopefully i provided everything required) [link] [comments] |
Boss threatening to fire us if we discuss pay Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:17 AM PDT Michigan I will keep it short and simple. My boss has threatened to fire workers if we discuss our salary or ask each other how much each person makes. He says this breeds problems in the work place due to difference of pay, but it's obviously so he can underpay some of us. I know this is illegal, but how can I prove that he is threatening us with termination? Michigan is a 2 way consent law for recording a conversation. Does this include recording someone doing something illegal? Can I quit and sue him for threatening termination over discussed salary pay? If I am fired for discussing salary pay, can't he just lie and say he's firing me for something else just to not get sued? What's the best course of action to take? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:46 AM PDT Earlier this year in Oregon my 81 year old grandmother was hit by a drunk driver and hospitalized. She remained in critical condition for nearly two weeks before passing away. This was one of several DUI's the driver received, so I'm fairly certain he had no insurance (however, I don't know who owned the car he was driving, so it's possible the vehicle owner had insurance since it was a new car). The hospital bill was $225,000, which the estate has to pay before paying any of the beneficiaries (I am one of them). Medicare is somehow making a $50k claim against the estate, and her insurance was capped at $15k for personal injury protection. I'm not the executor of the will, so I'm not getting any information from the estate attorney - I did hear that we shouldn't expect much, if anything, from the Wrongful Death claim. Is this true? Seems completely crazy that her estate should get zeroed out to pay for her end of life care, caused by a drunk driver. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? Thanks in advance.... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 01:05 PM PDT Long story I signed a 3 year lease for a 2 bedroom home with my wife 5 months ago. Two months ago we got a call from our landlord that he was selling the property and needed us gone by the end of the month. We honestly thought it was a prank call or something, so we basically laughed it off. Last month around the 3rd the landlord and realtor walked a potential buyer through the home without giving reasonable notice literally during our breakfast. When my wife told the buyer that we had just started a 3 year lease on the property the walk through came to an end almost immediately and the landlord lost his goddamn mind and just yelled at us to be out by the first of September with a nearly weekly phone call threatening to evict me if I don't break the lease. How do I make this stop? [link] [comments] |
[California]Union Contract passes but none of my brothers got to vote Posted: 08 Aug 2019 06:52 AM PDT My union, the UFCW Local 8, just passed a new union contract. We were suppose to vote on it via mail-in ballot but I've talked to a few shops now and NO ONE ever received their voting materials, yet somehow we have a new contract. People are pretty angry, but we're honestly not sure what to do? [link] [comments] |
Disabled brother refuses to treat his diabetes, leg sores. What's my next step? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 07:23 AM PDT California - My brother, over whom I have medical POA and a reasonably good relationship, has uncontrolled type II diabetes. He sought treatment for a leg sore six weeks ago. It's not healing and I have reason to believe he's not taking reasonable steps to control his diabetes. I'm reaching out to his doctor now to see if he's a candidate for in patient wound care. After that, I'm concerned his cognitive disabilities are keeping him from being able to maintain the discipline needed to administer insulin. I really think it's time to get him into hospice until his he learns that diabetes care isn't optional. I'm not sure my brother is willing to go through this. Am I out of line to be thinking that a guardianship is appropriate when a leg amputation is the likely outcome without intervention? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 05:46 AM PDT Hi all in a bit of a pickle, I just got a call from the dealership and the credit union saying there's an outstanding balance on my previous trade in. I purchased my leased car in May 2019 through a credit union and had a great rate (2.2%). Later in June there was a huge issue with the A/C where I was quoted $5000 to replace the entire A/C issue. At that point I owed $14,000 on the loan and another dealership matched CarMax's offer of $13500. I of course took the offer and drove off with a new car on 6/10. On 6/15, I received a letter saying that while on the loan, my insurance didn't have $1000 deductible comprehensive it required, so they would add a 12 month insurance for $2500. I no longer have the car at this point and couldn't change my insurance -- I brought this up with the dealership and they said not to worry about it and they would take care of it, I called the credit union and they told me at the very worst I would only be on the hook for the prorated period (1 month). They both called me now saying I owe the remaining balance. How should I proceed? Edit: This is in Los Angeles, CA Edit 2: added some dates to clarify. Also it appears that when I purchased the leased car, the Credit Union was dragging their feet and delayed the title transfer, which has delayed this title transfer Edit 3: Just received this email: The CPI insurance was added on 7/10/2019. DEALERSHIP paid off loan on 07/24/2019. On the loan agreement that you signed it states you have to add insurance otherwise LAFCU will add one on the loan throughout the life of the loan. If you can provide proof that you had insurance on the vehicle then we can update our records and remove the CPI insurance off the loan. I understand you stated you did not own the vehicle since 6/10, unfortunately you are still liable for the loan until the loan with LAFCU is paid off in full. At this moment you are responsible for the remaining of the loan which is $2,500.00 that amount is good till 08/18/19. [link] [comments] |
Apartment broken into while at home Posted: 08 Aug 2019 11:38 AM PDT Hello! Things have been going missing in my apartment for the last month or so. Last night my apartment was broken into while I was home. He saw me and hid so I called the police. The police saw him but he got away. I filed a report with the police and asked them what they thought. They said to tell my landlord and have him update security around the apartment because the building wasn't legally secure(doors not locking all the way, being propped open). We emailed our landlord about the theft problems weeks ago. There was no response. Our landlord also informed the police it might be a problem tenant. The police seem to be going with that story. However I feel as though he is hiding something and is being real shady. We want to know what we can do legally. We don't feel safe in our apartment and even if they do arrest this guy we won't feel safe. This is in PA. Thank you all! [link] [comments] |
Neighbor damaged my property (house and car) while mowing her lawn. She has done this before. Posted: 08 Aug 2019 07:12 AM PDT Ok background: I live in Indiana (Allen County). My neighbor moved in about 2.5-3 years ago. She is a raging alcoholic retiree. Now this issue: Almost 2 years ago (within the statute of limitations) , my neighbor was mowing the lawn, and hit my car with a rock. The rock ricocheted and hit my house, which alarmed us inside. Didn't realize what had happened until the next day, when I find grass, mulch and a massive dent on my car from my neighbor hitting a rock with her lawn mower. I told her what happened, she accepted responsibility and I told her I have to send it through insurance. I file an insurance claim, she doesn't respond to them reaching out, so I had the option of taking her to court over it. A year and a half goes by and I finally get it fixed and I didn't want to go to court with a neighbor over $400 (I should have). Fast forward to this weekend. Laying in bed with my sick wife, we hear a loud bang coming from the front room of the house. Assumed a bird hit the window and flew away. So I look out the window looking for a bird, and lo and behold, same neighbor is mowing the lawn. She stops, looks at the house for a while while smoking a cigarette. I thought she was just being weird and noticed me loooking at her, so I thought nothing of it. Next day (Monday), I am coming home from work and notice a 6" hole in my siding. I immediately knew what happened. I go inspect, and like I suspected, there's a piece of a chipped rock. I take the broken pieces of siding and try to put them back to recreate what happened, and this chipped rock absolutely came from her flower beds, and she was staring at the hole she made in my house. I go over to talk to her, she admits fault and affirms my suspicions, and says she will get someone to fix it. I told her she has til Friday or I'll find someone to fix it. Fast forward AGAIN to today. I am walking behind my car at work, and notice a pretty major ding in my trunk. I have no reason to suspect that this was caused by anyone other than the same neighbor hitting another rock while mowing. So, to clarify, she has admittedly hit my car and house with a rock, and probably hit my car with another rock. I am sick of this. I want to take her to court. I am going to get quotes from a house repair service, and a car repair service. I just don't know what to do after that. I doubt I need a lawyer. Is this a small claims or a civil suit? Is there any way to get this fucking lady to stop doing this? She is a threat to my safety of life and property, what if she hit me or my wife with the rock? I can't keep fixing things out of pocket because she can't mow the lawn sober and keeps running over rocks. I just don't know what to do. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Just assaulted by my father (Male, NJ) Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:05 PM PDT Hey, 27M So, sorry of I'm a little scattered. Can answer questions, not thinking straight. Very shaken. My father, in our place of work, just grabbed me by the throat/jaw and slammed me against a wall, challenging me to step out back and fight him. He IS my employer. It was because I shushed him because he was screaming at me while I was on the phone ordering lunch for the rest of my family and had some0ne on the line who could hear his profanity The workplace cameras would have captured it. I intend to get the footage later tonight. I have not gone to the police yet. This occurred not half an hour ago. Mother is begging me not to go to the police because doing so will destroy my family's entire lives/business. I do not intend to do anything until I have the video evidence in hand. I am moving my stuff out tonight to my brothers condo, which unfortunately is also owned by my parents but at least I can secure it. What are my options, rights? Should I have gone immedietly to the police? We have long since been abused by him, financially, verbally, physically and emotionally. This is the first time I have something on camera. Please help.
