Kraft shares tumble 7% after delayed 10Q filing, booking $1.22 billion in charges Posted: 08 Aug 2019 05:50 AM PDT Shares of Kraft Heinz fell on Thursday, after it said it was delaying its quarterly filing and disclosed write-downs totaling $1.22 billion. The company disclosed earlier this year it had received a subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission into its accounting policies and internal controls. Edit: now is down 10%. Mr. Big Short says Zillow has a flawed businessmodel Posted: 08 Aug 2019 12:40 PM PDT They are underestimating risk in their houseflipping. After airing this the stock added $2,- just to mess with the stock a bit. What are your guys thoughts? https://www.cnbc.com/video/2019/08/08/why-steve-eismans-new-big-short-is-a-bet-against-zillow.html [link] [comments] |
So Ray Dalio says not investing in China is risky, so where would you place your bets? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:26 PM PDT I'm trying to get a better idea of how one, particularly in the United States, invests in China. Specifically, outside of Chinese equities trading in the U.S. like BABA and BIDU. Thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Warning do not use eoddata as your data source. Posted: 08 Aug 2019 01:59 PM PDT I bought a platinum membership, but I was not happy with the data they provide. There is no option to cancel the subscription - you have to write an email to them if you want to cancel it. During the last 2 weeks, I wrote 2 emails and 2 tickets through their page. They responded to none of them. What steps should I take if they ll keep ignoring me? [link] [comments] |

New video game related stocks? (i.e. publishers, developers, etc.) Posted: 08 Aug 2019 11:27 AM PDT Hi Reddit, Are there any newer video game related stocks (i.e. publishers, developers) that are still on the ground floor, or at low price points? Thanks [link] [comments] |
How Often Do Stocks Make A Large Comeback? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 01:31 PM PDT I see a lot of stocks that start off at a certain price for a few months (let's use $30 for my example) and over the course of only a year or so it has settled down to a specific number and the graph looks almost like a quarter pipe (for my example lets say it settled down to like $5). How often do these companies rebound and get back closer to their IPO price? Seems odd that people could misjudge the company's worth when setting the IPO so badly. And it would also seem like not that much bad news could come out in one year to cause such a drop. The main reason I am asking is because I see these graph shapes so often and wonder how likely it is that these companies get back to where they originally started (ex. back closer to $30 from the current $5). I also want to be clear that I don't think I can read these and take advantage of these 200%-500% increases, just curious about how often it occurs. [link] [comments] |

TTD is up 5.5%, earnings to be reported after close. Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:32 AM PDT Last quarter shares dropped 10% before the earnings report and when they smashed expectations they were up 30% the next day. I'm long on them but hoping to see another earnings beat as has been their norm. Any thoughts on The Trade Desk? [link] [comments] |
Technicals (my interpretation of them at least) point to a turnaround. I went all-in today. Posted: 08 Aug 2019 12:34 PM PDT I was sitting 30% in cash for the past 4 weeks. I nibbled some earlier this week, but today I went all-in. FB, MA, BABA, AMZN [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:46 PM PDT Hello folks The car and truck market has not been the companies taking most benefits from the Tariffs. The fear of the recession coming is always scary for this industry. Now what do my fellow redditors think of this company, and also the truck and maybe even car industry of you wanna discuss that. Any thoughts on Wizz Air (LON: WIZZ)? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:32 PM PDT So I flew with Wizz Air today and was really impressed with the service. They seem to be heading in a promising direction:
What do people think about the price? It's had a good run for a the past 2 years but does this have the potential to be a long term hold? Are there any other fundamentals I'm missing out on? Keen to hear what people think! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:32 AM PDT This is why I don't trust any "financial newsletters." If the people writing them were so good, then they wouldn't release the information, they would use investment strategies to take advantage of their research. All too often, these types of scammy newsletters can more easily be used to "pump and dump" stocks, or at the very least front-running stocks. You place a buy/sell position, then you publish research that favors your position, and you get other people to buy/sell, which then makes the originators of the claim more money. This is one of the big criticisms of companies like Citron Research, because while they occasionally find good reasons to short a company, they then publish their results, which can accelerate gains for themselves. As far as I can tell, there isn't much SEC oversight, which leaves "financial advice/newsletters" as a kind of legal grey area. This is very different than how people like Jim Chanos or Mark Burry operated; they held their short position close because they knew the companies would fail despite what other investors did. (note: Jim Chanos is back on my radar for his activity surrounding Tesla and his promotion of his short on news programs (which could get other people to sell or short the stock)). If he really thought Tesla would fail on their own, he would quietly short it and not tell anyone. Do you agree or disagree? Edit: Looks like I'm getting downvoted by scammers 🤣🤣 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 09:27 AM PDT What do you think of that stock? It dropped 50% today due to earnings? Good buy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Aug 2019 07:45 PM PDT Known crazy person Elon Musk claimed that the funding was secured in a deal to take Tesla private, significantly displacing the stock price. No such funding was secured. Have a great night. [link] [comments] |
Value trap or finally at the bottom? LL Posted: 08 Aug 2019 07:54 AM PDT I've been following Lumber Liquidators since post-formaldehyde crisis in 2015. I've been tempted several times: once in the high teens (2017) where I thought I missed it because it got back up to high 30s, then it fell again and I was tempted around $13-15 (2018). Now it sits at its all time low ~$7.50 Guidance is not great as they get quite a bit of their product, especially the laminate flooring, from China. With tariffs looming I could see it getting worse. However, it was only 5 years ago that this company was the largest hardwood and flooring company in the United States. It came out yesterday that Whitey Tilson (former hedge fund manager) has doubled down on his bullish stance of LL. He references his double down of SodaStream as a similar case: came out bullish on soda stream at $35 and fell all the way to $12; a few years later PepsiCo acquires SodaStream at $144/share. So, with the current economy and housing market, what do y'all think... time to get in or value trap? [link] [comments] |
Is there a demand for fundamental analysis? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 11:17 AM PDT I am new in the topic, but really interested in it. I have a fresh degree in international business and economics and I like finance, but I am not an expert yet. I would like to start fundamentally analyse different markets, companies as a "side hustle" and sell them. It would be the zero level in my investing career and I could use the knowledge in the future. I searched these kind of gigs for example on fiverr and those types of sites, but this area is not crowded. Is it a good idea and just those sites are not the best place to sell or is it a dead end? If you are an investor would you buy high quality fundamental analysis documents? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:59 AM PDT Both Apple Music and Spotify are trying to make podcasts more popular, and I hear more and more people talking about and sharing their favorites. If I were interested in investing in podcasts, what would be the best way? Would it be just to buy Spotify? Thanks [link] [comments] |

What do you think of AES long term? Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:56 AM PDT I have a small position in AES and it's gone down about 7% due to recent earnings miss. I was thinking of picking up more to hold long term, but I was hoping to get some other perspectives before doing so. [link] [comments] |
