Next time someone tells you that ideas are worthless or you can't make money doing what you love, show them this.

Last year I made nearly $4K selling my ebook - 5 ideas a day

This year so far I've made nearly $4K with my new ebook - Never ending book of ideas

$7K in under 16 months selling ideas.

    Do what you love.

How do I gauge demand for this business idea?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 09:56 AM PDT

Bar-Bingo -- all the drinking, none of the thinking of bar trivia. We'd show up and host a game right there in your bar for a few hours.

How do I test whether businesses would hire a bar-bingo host for one evening a week? Do I just .. walk in to applebees and ask to talk to the manager?

Do I put some kind of ad on facebook targeted at bar tenders and collect a bunch of emails?

Mental breakdown: High Growth and No Stability

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 01:58 AM PDT

I'm at the end of my rope here and not sure what to do.
6+ years into bootstrapped tech company. First 4 years are very tough, make no money but learn a lot of painful lessons. Now we're growing very quickly (17+ employees, 5MM annual revenue) and everything indicates the future is very strong.

I can't seem to stabilize enough to step back; we've hired two managers in the last 6 months. one was fired (not willing to take direction/poor culture fit) and the second is turning out to have less technical skills and leadership skills than expected - on the way to being fired.
Aside from being exhausted, frustrated , and on the verge of a breakdown, I worry the second manager firing will cause greater morale and stability issues than we already have.

I feel like as problematic as things are now, I've overburdened myself with so many things that I've trapped myself - that any change is going to eat up more of my time, where Im already at a breaking point.

Anyone else gone through something similar? Suggestions on how to handle this?

I want a customer to business messaging system (like how airbnb has) for my DJ website, so that customers can go to a specific DJ's profile page, click on "message DJ" and start the sales funnel- all with me being able to monitor.

Analysis Paralysis - Can't seem to Focus

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 01:02 PM PDT

Hey Guys, could do with some help from other people with similar mindsets.

I feel very lost and I'm constantly over-analyzing everything instead of actually doing anything.

My Interests: Personal Development, Personal Fitness, Property Investments, Investments

My Skills: SEO, Digital Marketing, Website Design

Experience/ Qualification: Owner of a Digital Marketing Company for 10 years, 5 years as an IT Manager and I have an MBA from the UK

I've run a digital marketing company for the last 10 years, but had a really bad bout of depression caused by burnout which made me completely close the business and lose my clients. So now i'm back to £0. I'm really unsure what to do now, I feel like whatever I'm going to do next, i'm going to fail.

I want to find something interesting to me that I can get 100% into and make an income from but I can't shake this feeling. I could offer digital marketing again, but the idea of working with clients again in that industry seems so toxic to me now. I'm aware that this post likely doesn't make any sense, i'm just feeling very stuck and looking for thoughts from others out there that have maybe overcome this?

How do you hire a developer when you can't gauge their competency?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 04:42 AM PDT

I'm looking to hire/partner with a developer to expand my accounting and finance website.

My expertise is in accounting/finance and auditing, which means I have no idea how to tell whether a developer is good/bad and whether I'm overpaying/underpaying.

If you had limited tech skills, how did you start your search? How did you find someone?

Looking for feedback or advice - brand identity or website in five days

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 10:52 AM PDT

As a freelance designer, my favorite projects are ones that are fast and efficient. I love when my clients are super focused and motivated to finish projects quickly, especially if they have a tight deadline.

I've posted my idea here before for feedback. Now, I've put together a landing page and I'm looking for some pilot customers to work with to help me nail down the process and give feedback.

Here's the landing page so far: https://i.imgur.com/0i36tap.png

Does it inspire confidence? Is there any more information that should be required (besides price breakdowns)? Would you ever buy such a service for your business?

People who became successful after being told they wouldn't be?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 09:02 AM PDT

My family always told me I'd never be a successful individual and my step brother always told me I'd never have the motivation and I'm too stupid to do anything right. - which I do kind of agree with.

That's why I only feel comfortable talking to my younger sister about my business since we both do similar things. Unfortunately I'm going to have to put the business on my taxes so I gotta talk to my mom about taxes....... ;/

So, I'm interested in hearing people's stories about how they became successful after everyone told them they wouldn't be or that they surprised themselves with success. My mom is a great example of someone most people wouldn't think would be so successful but became a millionaire. I don't like to go into detail about my parents past wealth because I don't want to be seen as a show off. But anyways my mom is a great example of how you really shouldn't let what others say get to you and the most successful people aren't just from a storybook or a streotypical background.

4 tips for staying consistent on social media as an Entrepreneur

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 12:59 PM PDT

I see a lot of entrepreneurs getting overwhelmed trying to stay consistent on social media. This can be super frustrating, especially since this is how we grow our business.

If this sounds like you, here are some of my tips on how you can overcome this:

    1. Use the time that you DO have. Don't try to put in crazy hours starting off. If you only have 5 minutes, that's ok. Just make the best use of the 5 minutes as possible.
    2. Don't worry about every little detail. Build slowly. The key is consistency. You can worry about thumbnails, descriptions, fancy editing, and all that later. Right now just focus on putting out as much decent quality content as possible.
    3. Focus more on the impact you are making and not just the amount of likes and views. Make an impact with your brand and you will go far. Focus on the little things and your run will likely be short lived
    4. Don't give up. It takes time!

Hope this helps anyone out there who may be feeling like giving up on Instagram or Facebook.

If you want to here me go more in-depth over these tips, watch this video.

Drop a comment if you have any questions.

I’m starting to think that I’m wasting my time picking up new information without ever truly applying it. Learning is slowly becoming useless as I discard information within weeks of consuming it. How can I fix that given my current situation?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 11:55 AM PDT

I'm an 18 year old college student, currently doing a bachelors of behavioral sciences in a foreign university. Due to the laws of the country I reside in, I can't hold any form of employment so part time work is off limits to me. I have loads of free time on my hands seeing as how I only have around 3-4 lectures a week (which usually amounts to 9-12 hours each week) and manage to knock out any assignments relatively quickly. Ultimately, I'd say I only spend maybe 20-25 hours a week on school related activities leaving me with close to 30 free hours a week which I usually spend reading and learning things outside of my curriculum.

I have an interest in marketing, sales and finance. Within marketing, the two areas I found most interesting to learn were paid media and market research. I want to gain a certain degree of proficiency in each of the three fields before I decide to start something of my own as I believe each aspect is a vital component to my success as a future (potential) business owner.

Over the course of 6 months, I've read close to a dozen books concerning each field, done multiple free online courses regarding digital marketing, and attended whatever free workshops were available in my city (Data science/Programming/FB marketing).

Although I've derived quite a lot of value from each source, I'm beginning to believe that the knowledge I had gained thus far is beginning to fade away as I'm cramming more and more information into my head. Due to never being able to properly apply the information I had gained, I feel as if I didn't conceptualize it to the degree of it actually being useful to me later down the road. It seems as if I just consume and discard large amounts of material without ever utilizing it to my benefit. I have a similar mentality towards stuff I learn in uni but at the very least, I'm obtaining a degree as a result of it, an investment of time that actually provides a tangible product I can leverage to attain employment. As far as the books go, it isn't exactly something I can professionally brag about on a resume.

I've attended a few entrepreneurial meet ups I found online in hopes of meeting someone that's working on some small project I'd be interested in helping them with (and it being potentially small enough that I can be compensated without the government's involvement) but it was nothing more than circle jerk filled with multi level marketers trying to recruit one another (it was quite amusing actually).

There are a few opportunities available online to develop an expertise in a particular area of my choosing but all are unpaid. I'm more than slightly reluctant to take them up on those offers considering it's pretty much free labor and I fear that it may be a slippery slope that could damage how I assess my value/worth as an employee. If I start accepting low ball offers now, I might just end up losing massive amounts of time and money in the future if I get into that cycle.

Overall, I'm just not entirely sure as to what I should do. I feel like I'm beginning to waste my time accumulating more and more knowledge and never applying it. It also doesn't help that my major isn't exactly as appealing to employers as a computer science or an engineering degree but I want to ameliorate that by gaining some hard skills outside of school. I want to do something that will provide me with experience I can proudly display on a cv but I'm also not willing to scoop so low as to work in exchange for nada. Am I right to think in that regard or should I just accept that beggars can't be choosers, swallow my pride and take up a remote unpaid internship? Are there any other things I can do that would assist me in nurturing a sense of competence in any of the three areas I mentioned above?

Grateful for any and all advice. Thanks for reading.

A little background: my business partner (26 y/o) and I (24 y/o) have had a bunch of meetings lately with real estate agents, lawyers, and investors while trying to start our business. We are fairly new to the "professional world" and are finding meetings difficult to navigate.

Are there any tips, tricks and advice you guys have for us? We really need to land financial backing and I want to make sure we are operating at the highest level in our professional relationships.

House fires - no accessible public archives exist. Why?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 10:28 AM PDT

Records of houses burning down are consideredpublic records, but no accessible public archives exist. A request for a specific fire at a specific address must be made to obtain any record of a house burning down. The fire department does not entertain requests for multiple fire records.

I only discovered this while doing due diligence for a potential idea. Let's brainstorm on what opportunities can be made from this.

    Surveying tools

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 09:08 AM PDT

Are there any good surveying tools where we can ask questions from random potential customers to narrow down our user base. I know tools like Surveymonkey, Facebook ads etc.. where we can target a set criteria of userbase to answer our questions if they choose so. Are there any other dedicated tools like these? We would also like to not limit that to online surveying, unless it is very hard to do. Suggestions please..

The company will be themed on all aspects of wildlife from canines to elephants and a good amount of the proceeds will be donated to the World Wildlife Fund and other organizations. I am wondering if anyone out there can help with a cool catching company name that will attract website visitors and possible customers. Looking to reach out to local and national zoos as well go design them some fresh tee shirts.

What to sell at a flea market?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2019 07:40 AM PDT

I started selling candy at a flea market. Basic stuff like skittles, starbursts, and some other things like beef jerky and granola bars.

it's not my full time thing. I have a job during the week at an insurance agency.

The candy business isn't doing too well. I could completely redo my selection of candy or I could do a whole new business at the flea market.

Any recommendations on what sells well at a flea market in south florida?
