Talent Stacking aka How to make $50,000 with 50 lines of code Posted: 15 Apr 2019 06:45 AM PDT There are many ways to skin a cat, but generally you want to use the way that best stacks the odds in your favor in terms of success. If you want to make a lot of money there are basically 2 ways to do it
The second option is a much more viable path to success for most people. For every Tiger there are hundreds of people who dedicated their life to a skill and didn't achieve their goal. On the other hand, almost anybody can reach the 5th percentile for most skills and those skills can then be applied to multiple endeavors so you have multiple shots at success. In a business context I would say some useful skills you could pick up are marketing, sales, persuasion, coding, management, etc. Even if you fail at your first business, you still retain these skills that can be applied in many different areas. My personal example is adding programming to my skillset after doing marketing for while. I work with a real estate agent and made a simple SMS tool that allowed them to collect email subscriptions at open houses and people seeing for sale signs or print ads. I've open sourced the tool, you can set it up and use it for free here: http://renaissancetroll.com/sms-to-email-subscriber-tool/ Once added these people were either given specific info on a house or added to a more general email nurturing autoresponder campaign. End result is $50,000 and counting in additional revenue for a program that took less than an hour to make TLDR: specific domain knowledge + a toolset of valuable generalized skills is a recipe for success. I think a growth mindset is important and you should always be trying to add new skills. Learning to code sucked at first but really opened up a lot of doors and changed how I think about problem solving [link] [comments] |

Is anyone else proficient at outsourcing? Why is it so difficult? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:41 PM PDT I've had many business ideas, and outsourcing has always been a problem. I just don't know where to start. This includes things like finding an: - affordable, trusted web developer - Structural engineer - product developer - etc. What are some tips on hiring these types of people but making sure they're trusted and also worth the money? Health Insurance Dilemma for the Self-Employed Posted: 15 Apr 2019 12:52 PM PDT Hi Everyone! I need some advice. What are all the self-employed people doing for health insurance? I am a single female, very healthy with no dependents. I've been self employed for 4 years now and uninsured pretty much the whole time. I do not have employees and my business profits are not much after taxes. I only qualify for a $130 premium credit. A few years ago I was paying for a plan with United Health care with a $2,500 deductible for around $560/mth. I don't visit the doctor often as I'm pretty healthy but every time I went, I had to pay in full out of pocket since I was nowhere near to meeting my deductible. After months of wasting money on the plan and not going to the doctor, I cancelled and have been uninsured ever since. I pay the penalty on my taxes every year and continue to pay for my medical expenses out of pocket as they arise. It's all still cheaper than paying for a policy & a deductible. I am looking into getting insurance again so I can go the therapy, get a wellness check and possibly see few specialist. Plus I feel it's foolish not to have insurance in case I have a medical emergency now that I'm entering my mid 30s. However, I am seeing more of the same. The lower the deductible, the higher the monthly premium. After running the numbers, I would be paying close to $8k a year in premiums plus another $2-3k out of pocket to meet the deductibles. I don't think I would even hit those in one year. I don't have a parents policy to join as my mom is on Medicaid and my step-father is insured with the VA. I'm frustrated and feel defeated. I want to be insured but make too much to qualify for Medicaid yet not enough to justify spending that much per year. Are there any self-employed single people here with insurance? What are you paying? What are my options? Thank you in advance for your advice. [link] [comments] |
Niche Websites - PASSIVE INCOME (Complete Guide) Posted: 15 Apr 2019 12:00 PM PDT I'm constantly receiving a lot of messages about building a Niche Website Business. Therefore, I thought to answer everything here, as it was getting difficult for me to answer everyone in detail. First, let me talk a little bit about myself. I'm not a super successful person, and I have experienced lots of failures in the online world. Like perhaps all of you, I also started with a blog in 2007, and didn't achieve any success. I tried many other things and business models also, but nothing fulfilled my dream or even gave me a little bit glimpse of a bright future. I wasted thousands of dollars on courses, and now I believe there is NOT a single course on planet earth that allows you to earn money online. I ask you a simple question, if someone is making thousands of dollars, why would they share their methods in a $20 guide? I know some methods definitely work, but they aren't still the actual methods that they follow on their own. There is always some tip or trick which they hide and don't tell you (I'm sorry, this is my experience). I give you one great example. There are lots of courses that teach about Facebook Ads. I have bought them also, but they never worked in my favor. It is just pure luck if some campaign helps me in earning thousands of dollars. I can't give this credit to the course. The thing which I found is if you want to make your campaigns successful on Facebook, YOU MUST STUDY THE COMPETITOR. If some post, related to your business, has received thousands of shares or likes, it means you need to create content or ad like that to make your ad campaigns successful too. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. So, I first study the competitor (successful campaigns), create content or ad like them, share them on Facebook, and then promote them. The $50 which I spend on them give me better results than $500 without this strategy. My targeted audience on the Facebook automatically starts to share, like and visit my website. I don't need to think much. I just use this simple strategy and it works. Most courses don't talk about this simple method. They make you run behind different things and make everything complex, rather than making things easier and effective for you. The Same Thing Happens In The Niche Website Business Model Too. No one tells you the actual and complete truth. You have to learn on your own 99% of the time. After years of failure, I started my career as a writer in I think 2012. That was the turning point and the best decision of my life. Because of some referrals and I got rich and powerful clients who were already in the Niche Website Business. Many of them were running 20-30 niche website. In fact, one client was handing 45 websites. I had another client also with 90 niche websites, but I didn't get a chance to work more with him as I had started my own business (niche websites). It was not possible for me to handle clients. While working for them, I got an idea that how they actually work and make their business successful. 1-2 clients became mentors also and taught me some basic tips. I followed their advice and created a niche website. After 8 months, I was earning $3000+/month PASSIVELY. Right now, I have total 5-6 niche websites and I'm crossing $12K/month mark. But before I reveal how this business model works (which is quite simple), first let me tell you why do I love it and recommend it to beginners.
Things To Remember Before Creating A 'Niche Website'. I don't want to waste your time here and give you the key tips quickly.
That's it. If you want to know what kind of questions your targeted customers are asking, you can check the website called: https://answerthepublic.com/ Before starting the niche, check its value on "Google Trends". It shouldn't be seasonal. Here is the worst case scenario proof, if your website only earn $50 or $100 a month after a year, you can sell it for: Flippa.com You can also check Google to find out how much times it takes to rank your article. If you want to know about the platforms I use for my niche websites, I like both Wordpress and Weebly, but I love Weebly more and perhaps create more websites on it. I think I have explained everything in detail. If you still have some specific questions, you can ask me here or send me a private message. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
How to approach free website designs to build portfolio? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 11:58 AM PDT Currently in business planning phase of staring a website design company using Wordpress for a certain niche audience. However I need to get a portfolio going. I once was doing a side real estate photography with my drone and just reached out to real estate agents and offered my services for free in exchange for a testimonial and the rights to keep the pics of course. But being my niche relating to my actual job of construction I'm not sure how to do this. How would you guys build your portfolio for this before launching your website? [link] [comments] |

Seeking Co-Founder for Celebrity Co-Owned Cannabis Company (Toronto) Posted: 15 Apr 2019 11:10 AM PDT Hello r/Entrepreneur Community, Perhaps an unorthodox place to reach out, but I'm looking to find a co-founder to join a new business I've been developing for the last 10 months which is finally coming to life. As a marketing agency owner, I worked with several Canadian cannabis companies to help build their businesses by increasing awareness, cache - and most importantly, acquire customers. Specifically, my niche is using music, entertainment, and culture as the vehicle to do this...and achieved stellar results for clients (says clients). Seeing the various 'music x cannabis' plays come to life, I realized that all of them were missing-the-mark in one or several ways to utilize the star-power to compliantly build brand awareness, and most importantly, directly convert to sales. Fast forward to today, I have MAJOR talent signed on to partner, an initial source of supply, interest from VCs and Retailers, and the initial capital raised to retail a notable industry advisor to start creating the company, agreements, etc. There are a lot of moving pieces, and now at the point where I'm looking for a Co-Founder to join. Looking for the 'yang' to my 'yin'.....the Matt Lieber to my Alex Blumberg (if you get that reference, DM me!). I'm looking to bring on someone who has expertise/experience in;
If you're in Toronto, interested, and have experience in the above - please send me a DM and/or reach out 'hello@x1creative.com'. [link] [comments] |
How the hell do fashion brands get away with stealing designs? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 02:32 PM PDT You see it all the time with "fast fashion brands" straight up copying the runway designs and works of small independent designers. Zara, H&M, Fashionnova, Asos etc. Why are they allowed to do this with no litigation's? [link] [comments] |
Ad clicks not converting to sales on website selling digital product, how to troubleshoot? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 04:34 AM PDT I recently launched a website that aims to sell a digital product (online course). The course was offered on Udemy before and sold well with good reviews so we know the product is useful and customers are happy. We have started using Facebook ads to drive some traffic to the site and the ads seem to be getting clicked on quite frequently but we are not converting. Its very early days so I don't want to jump the gun but how would one go about troubleshooting? Should the price get dropped, should the landing page be changed, should we try another form of advertisement etc? Is patience the key here? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2019 06:55 PM PDT I'm working at an oil refinery right now full time, I make "Ok" money but on top of my illnesses, this job is physically and mentally draining me. Before this job, I worked from home. I rented a few servers and started a couple online servers for a video game, did alot of work, advertising, coding etc and the servers eventually blew up and became very popular where I was able to live comfortably from home on donations. Problem was the demand was very high and I was doing everything alone, financially, coding, troubleshooting, customer support etc and I knew NOBODY that was willing to learn or how to go about asking so I eventually just gave up. I have the mindset to go far in anything I do. I am willing to put in the work but I just don't know where to start, I'm willing to do anything, I'm physically not able to continue working and I'm mentally ready for something more for me and my little girls. So far the only thing that looks half interesting in Amazon FBA, does anyone have any tips or suggestions/advice they can PM in what direction to go, or if I should find something else? do i have to file taxes on a newly created LLC with no income? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:22 AM PDT my partner and I formed an LLC a couple weeks ago. we invested a couple thousand dollars in inventory and now am waiting for production to finish. while filing personal taxes this year, we realized we may have to file taxes for our LLC. We haven't had any revenue yet, and am pretty new to business taxes having only started this a couple weeks ago. Is there any legal trouble we'd get into if we don't file taxes this year? Currently Rebranding. Should I keep my old domain? If so, what should I do with it? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 09:35 AM PDT Hey guys, I am currently rebranding my company. New name, new logo, new domain, etc. I bought my new domains in .ca and .com. 1) Which one should I use (.ca - .com or both)? Considering 95% of my business is done in Canada. 2) What should I do with my previous domain (old name)? Redirect, page explaining the rebrand with link, or simply remove. Thanks! Posted: 15 Apr 2019 01:11 PM PDT I'm starting a website designing individual/free lance thing on the side for a niche Audience. However I always been geeky and can see me self taking care of this no problem at all and get stuff done right and quick. My problem is, idk if this will turn into an actual business thing or intentionally keep it at a free lance thing. That being said should I do pricing originally by doing cheap prices just to get extra bill money, or be competitive Incase this does go some where? I never been through it and I'm sure it's difficult to randomly just double your rates one day on existing customers. [link] [comments] |
Cell phone repair. Would any share their experiences with this? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 09:09 AM PDT How much are you averaging each repair regarding profits? What's the most challenging expectation for someone getting started? Mobile or brick and mortar? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Apr 2019 08:55 PM PDT Hello all, I replied to another post the other day where someone asked for feedback by giving a bunch of tips. OP was very happy, and then 5 people DM'd me and commented asking for my help. Rather than me DM you back and forth (I hate reddit DMs), why not post your links below? Why am I doing this? Why am I qualified to do this? I run a small-medium sized non-dropshipping ecom store (think 6 figures). I will provide as much insight into things that helped me improve my site and will admit when I don't know or haven't tested stuff. I used to routinely listen to multiple ecommerce podcasts and now try to read as many books on digital marketing as I can (my company is at a point where marketing is the bottleneck), so I'm fairly aware of current trends and try my best to constantly refine my knowledge of marketing. I will not share my website link as I don't want you guys messing up my pixel ;). Half joking - I want to make sure you guys feel that I'm not promoting anything here so don't even ask for it lol. What can you expect from me? I'll look at your site for low hanging fruit or bigger issues you need to solve. Just post your link and say nothing else, I want to be unbiased :) What can I expect from you? Sign up for my next dropshipping course ;) [link] [comments] |
How much should one be willing to shell out on a website's AMC? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 12:09 PM PDT Hi, So I got my website built by this company (entire backend and db) and now my in-house tech person is leaving (he did most of the front end). He was the one who was going to take a complete handover and carry out the day-today maintenance etc. Now that he's leaving, it makes a lot more sense for us to divert those funds to the same company that built the website in the form of an AMC. Having said that, how much should I be looking to spend - total development fee is approx USD 6k. It's a sports player database - that displays profiles, charts and stats (think of NBA stats websites or Premier League profiles of players - for Indian athletes). Apart from knowing how much I should be paying at the max (and min) - be great if you guys would help me out in covering all aspects of what I need to ask/ensure is discussed and agreed on. Data collection method for door prize draws - looking for suggestions. Posted: 15 Apr 2019 11:30 AM PDT Hey all! We run pub trivia events that often have 100+ people in attendance. We run about 30 of these per month and have been doing written slips for door prizes where we collect names, emails, and trivia theme suggestions. Because of sheer volume (and a bit of laziness) we haven't been translating this written data into spreadsheets and using it for targeting/email campaigns. (We honestly forgot to put a check box to opt in to sending emails - but could still use the data for targeting our customers). Though we do gather some information from our customers registering online, we only get about 20-25% of our total customers contact info. I'm looking for the most efficient way to: gather information from all our customers. Use this information to draw for door prizes during trivia events. Have people opt in to be contacted about future events in their city. Have the data kept uniformly. Ideally have this whole thing automated. Is it possible to do this by having people text to a number? In cases where we run events in multiple cities at the same time, would it be possible to differentiate which location people are from (use a hashtag maybe?) What are your suggestions for collecting the data? What data would you suggest we collect? How would you use the data most effectively? [link] [comments] |

Calling All Canadian Entrepreneurs! Posted: 15 Apr 2019 11:11 AM PDT Hello Reddit! My name is Shaun & I currently work as the Account Manager at a web design firm called Bluedot Tech. The prize is a $5,000 Web Design package and all you have to do to enter is share your business idea with us. Which nano & micro business influencers are you obsessed with? Posted: 15 Apr 2019 07:12 AM PDT I'm really curious which influencers inspire you the most and you find most trustworthy? Please don't mention those overexposed influencers with a couple of thousands and even millions of followers. In my opinion they can't really engage with the audience on a more personal scale. Posted: 14 Apr 2019 06:32 PM PDT I thought of this sub after talking to my grandma this weekend. She recently paid for someone to clean and restore some of our family gravestones located out of state. She contacted a local funeral home to ask if they knew anyone who did that sort of thing and sure enough, they had contact info to pass along. I don't know what she paid but the guy cleaned about 6 gravestones and sent before/after pics. He used cleaners (bleach and borax) and a soft bristle brush. No powerwashing. My grandma (and the rest of us) were thrilled with the results. Just an idea for anyone looking for an opportunity. Something for those who follow u/sweatystartup [link] [comments] |
