Second claim but didn't repair Posted: 17 Apr 2019 04:21 AM PDT A few years ago my car got hail damage. I filed a claim, the appraiser came on site and handed me a check for the repairs. I am still paying in the car, but the check was made out to just me. I wanted to get my car fixed, but just the hood. No shop I spoke with would do partial repairs so I ended up never getting it done. The money ended up being used on some extremely high interest student loans. If my car gets hail damage again or u get into an accident that is my fault, what would happen? I'm assuming they would request a receipt for the precious repairs (which doesnt exist) before moving forward. I'm worried I might have totally fucked myself by not getting it all fixed. Progressive Snapshot App Question Posted: 17 Apr 2019 03:37 AM PDT I signed up for the app and haven't downloaded it yet but I was wondering, my son uses my phone in the car most of the time. Will progressive think I'm texting and driving??? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Apr 2019 05:34 PM PDT I have many speeding tickets and wrecks that I caused on my record. No I'm not proud. My insurance is $700 a month. I'm on my own plan because the insurance guy says I have to. (Not sure why). He also said no other company will take me. I have some questions. 1: Should I take a points reduction class? I would think it would ultimately help the cost of insurance. 2: I want to get a new car but was told the insurance with get higher. My family has an extra car I wanted to use in the meantime but was told if I'm put on another car my insurance will get higher. [link] [comments] |
Looking to Escape working in Insurance sales - Where to go? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 10:18 AM PDT I've been working in insurance for the last 3 years and I've ultimately come to terms that I'm not a salesman and that I've been miserable, where would I most likely find employment where my experience will b favorable and relevant? Thanks in advance for your advice! [link] [comments] |
Non-insured driver moving across the country in a rental car -- what kind of insurance should I get? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 04:09 PM PDT I'm driving my belongings from New York to New Mexico in a rented minivan through Enterprise and am contemplating my insurance options. SOME FACTS: I currently don't have any car insurance because I don't have a car. I plan to rent the car using my Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card, which offers primary coverage if the additional coverage through the rental company is declined. I also have renter's insurance through USAA, which offers some personal liability coverage ($100k/occurrence, $5k/person for medical). DW - Damage Waiver PAI / PEC - Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage SLP - Supplemental Liability Protection I'm also currently on Medicaid in NY so I don't think I'm covered while traveling across state lines. Any ideas what to do about this? Maybe the PAI coverage will help? OPTION 1: Pay what is a lot of money for me right now ($250) for insurance coverage through Enterprise. ($36/day for DW, PAI/PEC, SLP). Is mixing and matching a better option? OPTION 2: Pay using my Chase credit card and use Enterprise's minimum liability requirement and the Chase protection in case something happens. (No additional cost.) OPTION 3: Opt out of DW coverage from enterprise but get PAI and SLP (or some similar variation). I think Chase and will kick in to protect the rental vehicle in this scenario and my USAA liability will offer some protection too. Is this an option? OPTION 4: Purchase a non-owner driver policy. I don't know much about these and think they might be too expensive anyway. Plus, I read that they sometimes don't protect rental cars. Ideally, I'd like to rely on the protection from Chase and not worry about extra insurance but the anxious side of me is a worst-case scenario kinda person. What are some factors I should consider and what would the wise among you opt to do? What will and won't be covered by these different options? What about the other driver's insurance? Won't they be covered by both their auto and health coverage in case of an accident? I know I've included a lot of research here and if you've gotten this far you're probably thinking, why can't this dum dum clearly see the best choice is XXX? Luckily, I've never had to deal with any major insurance woes so I don't have any real-world experience to clarify the choice. Plus, because I can't predict the future, I have no idea what I might end up needing. Lastly, this kind of stuff is the worst and fills me with infinite dread and anxiety. I have access to all the insurance limits, etc., but I can't make heads or tails of it when I don't know what kind of costs to expect in the event I end up in an accident. TLDR: Non-insured driver moving across the country in a rental car. Should I buy all the extra insurance through the rental company, hope my credit card and renter's insurance covers me in the event of an accident, or do some combination of the two? Also, I'm on Medicaid so my health coverage in the event of an accident is also a potential problem. [link] [comments] |
Is the good student discount a cumulative gpa or a single semester or term grade report? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 11:26 PM PDT I have lot's of questions about this. First, is the good student discount based on your cumulative(overall) gpa or my semester or term gpa? Next, I get progress reports on paper every single month from my school showing my grades, very similar to a report card. Will that work. Another question, how often does the insurance company's check your grades? Can the insurance company start the good student discount halfway through second semester? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Are things really this bad for HOA property policies? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 03:44 PM PDT I've linked to my comment in /r/legaladvice but my experience is on the claims end and honestly in my role we didn't know or discuss commercial policy deductibles. You can click through to the thread for more context. Anyone with experience selling/writing policies for HOAs, is this deductible unreasonable? Could they find a better policy for maybe not that much more premium? Though given the tiny HOA dues in my opinion they probably bought the absolute cheapest policy they could find. I always tell people to shop around as different companies use very different pricing models, but here I'm being told that small HOAs are just screwed when it comes to buying insurance. [CA] Need advice on a rear-end car accident Posted: 16 Apr 2019 11:13 PM PDT Today, I was rear-ended while stopped at a red light. I heard a big bang and my neck felt sore right after I got hit. I signaled the car behind me to move the cars off the street. (It's a very busy street so I didn't want to get off the car where the accident was to check the damage). When I got off the car I was surprised there was only a very small scratch to my rear bumper, no dent. Didn't notice any obvious damage to the at-fault driver's front bumper. However I did feel my neck was getting sore so asked the driver to exchange insurance info. The driver refused and said there is no damage to my car. I then expressed my concern about my neck pain. He still refused to provide me his insurance info. The driver's wife or his friend sitting on the passenger seat didn't believe that I could have a whiplash that soon. She also made some comments saying she is sensitive to fraudulent claims and implied I was going to do so. I had to call the police since he wouldn't give me his insurance info. Police did arrive and gave both of us a sheet with both insurance info on it. The office said it's not a police report since they are not in the position to determine the fault. (I didn't mention my neck pain to the officer but did mention it to the dispatcher and did not request an ambulance as I thought it would be an overkill). I really have no intention to make a claim if I don't need to. At least I am not planning to repair the scratch on the bumper since it's so small and I am losing time and energy to deal with the repair even if it's paid for. My only concern is my neck pain and if I should still make a case of it. Also I don't want my insurance rate to go up if I report the accident. Given I didn't have a police report, I am not sure what I can really get out of it by making a claim. Thanks for sharing your experience / input. [link] [comments] |
Not “At fault” Middle Car in 3 car rear end collision Posted: 16 Apr 2019 09:55 PM PDT My situation is that I am the middle car in a 3 car accident on the freeway.
So I swap information with the other drivers, everybody is fairly calm, no police report. Then the insurance period begins. Both of the other drivers are saying I hit them first. My own insurance placed me at fault. They said the verbal statements and the fact that my car had more damage to the front is why I am at fault. I had existing damage in the front of my car which is why my front looks more damaged. I gather as much evidence as I can including 1. Filing a desk police report. 2. Obtain a crash data retrieval report which shows me braking at 2 miles per hour, then flooring my gas 100% before colliding with the front vehicle. 3. Draw a diagram. 4. Bug my insurance everyday. They admitted that the front driver says he felt only 1 impact. I used that against them because 1 impact means I was hit before or else he would have felt the other impact. 5. Independent auto repair estimate 6. Rental car agreement. Today (2 weeks later)I finally convinced my insurance to reverse its decision to place me at fault. They had already agreed to liability to the first driver and possibly paid him. Now is basically my time to go after the rear driver and hopefully the front driver does not sue me. Any advice? State is CA btw. [link] [comments] |
Locked in FNOL Claims Rep Role - 10 months? Managers motive? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 09:30 PM PDT Hello! I'm going to attempt to keep post focused and not rant. I'm interested in any opinions/advice. I joined my company with an All-Lines licenses in hand. I wanted to be an adjuster, I interviewed at a few top carriers but would be told no claims experience. I knew claims reps, worked in a more call center focused role, I wanted NOTHING to do with it. Well after being shot down LOTS of times for an adjuster role (all auto and about a year of applying) I applied for a claims rep role with Liberty (first time applying here). I dislike the role but I am happy with the company and do not want to leave. I had difficulty adjusting to call center life, I gained about 20-25 pounds, my first few months on the floor, I was very hard on myself b/c metrics and always felt I was near losing my job (even though in reality it was not true) until I hit about 6 months and my numbers (handle time/after call work got a lot better). I have since mastered adherence, after call work, my appraisal at FNOL is good, etc. I am meeting all other metrics. Customer service wise, I have always been fantastic. I have a binder full of feedback surveys and awards and majority of months I am 100% promoter and 100% likelihood to recommend. These are such huge deals - the call center manager above my manager and above that manager gives out the awards for the surveys. On the teams I have been transferred too, I am usually the strongest in customer service. I wanted to apply out at 6 months, I asked my manager if he felt he can recommend me -- Liberty was going through major changes in FNOL and honestly, didn't want to deal with this, knee jerk reaction. He advised I just began mastering my role and to wait a bit more. I could not apply out b/c obv if auto contacted him, he would deliver something along those lines. I am now near 4 months later...nearly 10 months in and had 3 managers since (Liberty apparently loves change). My new manager kept boosting everyone prior to our first meet that they can get things done, get you where you want to go, I've been waiting for this 1 on 1 for weeks, I bring resume, development plan, binder of feedback, to me this meet was about HEY, I have been here 10 months, I am looking to want to apply out. I was probably most prepared on my team. We spend 60% of my meeting talking about my handle time?????? For reference since DEC..my AHT% to goal is 105-115% per month?? My after call work, is meeting or below. I'm absolutely god-smacked during this 1 on 1. They literally devise not 1 but 3 different trainings/side by sides they want me to do, if I was not confident in what I am doing, I would start having that fear again of I might lose my job, but I know it's not the case. The end of the meeting, they ask had I attempted to apply out, I recapped what happened at 6 months and advised I would like to be in position where they can confidently recommend me if Auto reaches out. I briefly mention my goal was to apply right after 10 months. They reply, they are a numbers person. They are nice and have put in place some additional training for the AHT, I am open minded, but I am thinking this is really ridiculous. I cannot say this in the meeting, but I work both SAT/SUN--I do 4-5 total losses per day on those days...my AHT WILL NEVER be 100. There is absolutely no status calls on weekends which shrink the handle time like during the week. I swear to God the weirdos call in on the weekend. My focus will be ensuring my 3 days during the week are at or near closest I can to the 100 goal. I have been told by people who work auto, to apply -- I feel I cant b/c they will reach out to my manager and manager has already stated they would like to be aware if I apply out and obv is unwilling to say I am good. I was just wondering does my manager have any incentive to block me from applying out in order to keep me b/c I am team lead for NPS/ILTR? Any advice for me? TL/DR I am miserable with my work schedule, I don't like call center life, I want to be an auto adjuster, I want the Mon-Fri, work schedule and the hour lunch, I want to feel like an actual professional. I have been counting down the days that I can apply out, only to be told, that my manager can't confidently recommend me. Is there some motive for keeping me in FNOL dept? that they have? Update: Florida Medicare Advantage plan co-insurance calculation question Posted: 16 Apr 2019 05:19 PM PDT Hi All, I spoke to the brace maker and the insurance provider and now I'm extra confused. I've included a TLDR at the bottom. Carecentrix sent me a bill hat started out at $13,226. My MA plan has no copay or deductible for leg braces but I'm responsible for 20% of the cost. I got billed $2,645 which is 20% of the initial 13k bill. Where things get weird: my bill states insurance paid -314.04. There is an adjustment of -$10,266. Carecentrix claimed that "adjustment" was a payment... but my basic google search says an adjustment is essentially a discount worked out with the provider. If that's correct then my braces cost the insurer a total of 2959.28 and theyre passing on 2,645 of that cost to me which would be like 89% instead of 20% The agreement is 0 copay, 0 deductible and 20% co insurance.... but I'm being asked to pay $2,645.24 of the $2,959.28 The brace makers also claimed that she has filed multiple complaints with Blue Cross over Carecentrix ethical breaches and gets told "Well our customers are happy" If I do have to pay $2645 for my braces, I'll ask for a discount, the worst they say is "no" At this point I'm not sure if people are being honest with me and I should owe 20% of 2959 or if I should owe 20% of $13,226 TLDR: I feel like somebody is being dishonest with me and trying to scam me out of money they should be paying instead. I can't get a straight answer from an unbiased source. [link] [comments] |
Medical office is sending me a bill for un covered cost of a procedure. Posted: 16 Apr 2019 07:11 PM PDT Hello. So went to a specialist to do some exams they collected some feces and sent to a out of network pathologist. My insurance paid the out of network rate what they felt was a fair amount and inform me that the out of network pathologist is charging at an increased rate of 140% of medicare cost. Now insurance assured me to ignore any bills i may receive from provider asking me for the remainder. Unless the bill is from co insurance or decuctable. Today i recieved the bill from medicle office on behalf of pathologist asking for remaining amount which is aprox 2.2k dollars. The total amount which they billed was 5k. Insurnace covered about half. I fear that i may be liable to pay the 2.2k but am wondering if i am being hold responsible for a medicle office using a out of network specialist to look and run the labs for my in network gastroenterologist. I was never give a choice and was only notified when medical office sent an appeal to my insurnace with out contacting me requested for full amount of payment. I recieved word after my insurnace let me know regarding the appeal result. Which they turned down. Last part the medical office i feel is threating me by sending the bill and attched is 2 letters. First letter informing of steps to take in order to conduct another appeal. And the second letter which they wrote for me to send to my insurnace. The first letter simple expains that it is in my best interest for me to do the appeal to avoid amy chargea and i should immediately submit the appeal and letter attached. I feel like im being used for some medical scam. I need some advice on how to proceed. I dont how to feel or do in this situation At the time of the exam i had United Health Care Oxford. Thanks in advance. Srry for typos [link] [comments] |

EILI5 Question about insurance fraud Posted: 16 Apr 2019 03:33 PM PDT Quick background, I'm currently trying to get on state insurance (Illinois) and they have sent me coverage for my son about 2 weeks ago. I just went to a walk in clinic, presented the insurance and was told that it is declining. On the sheet it said that it could be cancelled at any time and I was afraid it might happen. Its outside of the insurance offices business hours so I can't call them until tomorrow. I said that is fine that ill just do the walk in copay to have him seen and was told I would be committing insurance fraud if they did that. I don't understand how its insurance fraud if my insurance is coming back that its not working so I pay the walk in price? When I asked they just said "Well they would ask why we didn't bill the insurance and they would get in trouble." But how? They tried and it declined, that isnt their fault. I'm also terrified would an ER turn us away if we had a medical emergency with my son? This is the first time in my life I've ever had to deal with state aid, all the insurance I've shopped for is twice the cost of my mortgage for my family and quite honestly I'm in full panic mode. I truly hate the US right now. [link] [comments] |
Progressive asking for wrecked parts. Posted: 16 Apr 2019 03:22 PM PDT I was at-fault in an accident and used the body shop recommended by Progressive. The car was dropped off a week ago, and today I received a call from an agent asking if they can come pick up the original damaged bumper cover to check for usable parts. I get that I can't expect OEM parts (2014 Cruze RS) but I've never heard of an insurance company trying to source parts from the car that wasn't with the car when it was dropped off at the body shop. Should I tell them to pound sand and find parts or play along? One consideration is that my potentially usable fasteners and fog lights are probably better quality than aftermarket replacements even if the body shop had to replace the wiring connectors that were damaged. Will Liberty Mutual find out about my speeding ticket? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 03:13 PM PDT I am 20 years old, live in NJ, and I have a probationary license. I live with my parents and I am covered under their Liberty Mutual Insurance policy. Their renewal date is June and the policy is a 12 month period. I got a seatbelt violation ticket, which carries 0 points in NJ and this was back in March. I got a speeding ticket for going 15 mph and that carries 4 points in NJ and this happened this past Saturday. However, I will take the defensive driving course to knock it down to 2 points. I am worried, because I don't want to tell my parents :(. I know that Liberty Mutual has Accident forgiveness where they forgive the policy for the first accident/ticket, but my dad got caught with a 2 point red light ticket back in 2017. do i need to file a police report for an accident? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 05:18 AM PDT I was rear-ended in a drive-thru at like 2 mph. The only damage was a quarter size spot on the paint and one side of the bumper worked itself slightly loose. There were no injuries as far as I could tell, and I got the other driver's information and all that. The only thing we did not do is file a police report. I figured that it would just be a waste of everyone's time. I have a front and rear dashcam and already have footage of both the front and rear of the vehicle before, during, and after the accident. Geico, however, asked if I had a police report, and I said no. Did I just hurt my chances of recovering any compensation for the paint and bumper damage? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Apr 2019 02:49 PM PDT I have a question a friend of mine borrowed her fiancee car she ended up totaling the car her fiancee carried only liability insurance and GAP coverage not on purpose it was actually an accident that it was only liability coverage so they have been fighting back and forth with the insurance and GAP companies to get the loan paid off if the auto insurance does not pay for the loan what will the gap insurance cover and I understand that gap insurance is the gap between Auto Insurance and the value of the car but if the auto insurance is choosing not to pay out at all will the Gap coverage pick up the rest especially if they had a Platinum Premier package that covered up to 50 thousand to $100,000 the car is only worth maybe ten thousand?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
In an accident, other driver at fault, low ball repair estimate from their insurance co. Posted: 16 Apr 2019 01:16 PM PDT I was in an accident recently, (no injuries) I was traveling the speed limit through an intersection with a traffic light, my light was green. The other driver was turning right on red into my path of travel from the side road. Police report reflects the other driver was at fault. I have been in contact with their insurance, they have initially accepted fault, however they are still reviewing the police report. I had taken my car in person to two local body shops for initial repair estimates thinking I may need them. I have two independent estimates, both for about $3,000 (+/- $100). I consider them to be essentially the same amount of work to fully repair the car after reviewing them. The other driver's insurance company had me download an app, take a few pictures of the damage/VIN/odometer and within 24 hours sent me back a quote for the repair, which they estimate to be about $1,000. They tell me that amount will be paid directly to me, direct deposited into my bank account. I questioned the low amount, and mentioned I had two other estimates for substantially more money. I was told to "not worry" when I take the car to the body shop, the body shop can submit a request for additional damage to be covered for any amount in excess of the initial estimate. From there the additional funds will be paid directly to the body shop from the insurance company, and I pay them directly the amount I was given up front. I feel like I'm under ZERO obligation to actually get my car repaired, the damage is superficial, and does not affect the drivability of the car in any way, this was quite literally a "fender bender". I brought up the possibility of what if I didn't want my car repaired, but I didn't agree with their estimate, could I take the car to for an in-person inspection with someone from their company to see if the quote would get revised higher. The agent again said, I would HAVE to take it into the body shop and after they "get into it" (which I assume means begin the tear-down process) the body shop would do the request for further funds. which would be paid direct to them. This seems wrong to me, that their client damaged my property (that I own free and clear) and that I should be entitled to the cost to return that property to the same condition it was in prior to the accident. I have two independent quotes stating what that cost is, compared to their photo based assessment. I would like the initial deposit to my account to be higher, if I DO chose to get it repaired I fear that my car may get caught in the middle as collateral if the body shop insists the repair is $3,000 but the insurance company stands by their $1,000. I will not accept a low-quality repair for the lesser cost, and I know the body shop isn't going to give my car back to me if I only have $1,000 to offer them for the full repair job. Any advice on how to proceed, or what specific phrase or words I can say to the insurance company to get them to pay to me what I would consider the right settlement of $3,000 ? [link] [comments] |
National Guardian Life Insurance Letter Posted: 16 Apr 2019 12:16 PM PDT I received a bill from this insurance company, National Guardian Life Insurance. Being unfamiliar with this company I called for information. This policy was initiated in 1970 by my deceased grandfather and later "paid up" in 1980. There is a $43 loan on it and this bill is for $2.61 interest owed. I can take ownership of the policy but this reeks of a scam. I don't want another bill in my budget but it was stated after making contact today they will continue to bill me 6% interest on the $43 loan yearly. Without knowing the payout could someone advise my next move? [link] [comments] |
How do i counter a auto settlement without an attorney? Posted: 16 Apr 2019 11:34 AM PDT In February of this year I was at a stopped at a red light and was rear ended from a vehicle going at least 40mph. When all was said and done I ended up with whiplash, a lower back sprain and a concussion without loc (the back of my head hit the headrest pretty hard, had a lump about 3.5in). Yesterday I was finally made an offer from the other party's insurance and they I offered $500, for the inconvenience of having to go to the doctor. I said no, I'd have to call them back, and then later I was told $1000 would be the highest they could go because my injuries were "soft tissue injuries" and typically aren't valued any higher. How do I counter offer a reasonable amount to them without going through the process of an attorney and whatnot? It's already been a hassle to get to this point finally, just getting in contact with the adjuster took about 6 weeks, (my calls were always answered by voicemail and my messages were not returned.). I just want this done with, but feel that $500 for the inconvenience of a dr visit or $1000 because my injuries aren't "valuable" enough is pretty insulting... What can/should I do? Do ea using tow serice from Insurance increase premium Posted: 16 Apr 2019 10:23 AM PDT I have tow service as part of my insurance and it includes things like battery issues, flat tire, ect. I never use it though because I am worried it will like I have a claim and increase my premium. If I get a flat tire and need a tow, will using it increase my premium. [link] [comments] |

The dealership said they can't get my new car financed without the letter. I'm not sure what to do, I gave them what I have, they said it doesn't work. Is there a templet so I can just make one, this is ridiculous. all this work for a junk car.... [link] [comments] |
