I don’t fear failure, just being stuck in a job I hate

    Posted: 13 Apr 2019 11:02 PM PDT

The only reason I am afraid of failure is because I know if I fail that's more time I have to spend working a regular job that I hate.

Every day I work on my idea after work, and every morning I get up to go to work and dread every second of it. All I want to do is work on my own ideas and projects. I feel like I am wasting my time working a job that I don't care about. There's no point to it besides putting food on the table.

But what if my idea doesn't pan out? What if I find this out months down the line? That's another 6 months where I'm back at square one and I have to grind out this job and waste more time.

Maybe it's a lack of confidence or just part of getting a business off the ground.

I know starting a business is a process and it doesn't happen overnight, but I just wish I didn't have to spend 60% of my day sitting in an office making someone else rich.

Does anyone else feel this way? How do I overcome this fear?

Don't know where else to post this, but looking for an investor!

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 12:46 PM PDT

    Hello r/Entrepreneur,

My name is Eli. I'm 19 years old, and I'm currently not attending college. I consider myself very entrepreneurial, and today I just hatched another business idea. I have gained various experiences & knowledge since graduating in May 2018. I'm looking for an investor (or two) who are willing to invest in me and my idea.

I wouldn't require a high investment, but enough for me to get off the ground, quit my job, and focus solely on this.

Please, do shoot me a PM if you're curious, and have the ability to make an investment. I'm sure we may be able to work something out.

    Best regards,

    Eli

What is the best way to respond when you’re on the phone with a prospect who you connected with via a cold outbound phone call and you get to the point where you ask them to take a meeting to learn more about your product/company and they ask you to send them an email instead?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 11:07 AM PDT

More so cold calling techniques for keeping the conversation going, but I've heard a million different responses to this. Curious was ya'll think!

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 01:39 PM PDT

Weird, but I'm serious: Im an aspiring entrepreneur and I do read and learn a lot. I was wondering if there are any games targeting entrepreneurs, such as growing a business or building something, any gamified entrepreneurial concepts.

How does the IRS know how much money my LLC made?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 01:27 PM PDT

I am a massage therapist with an LLC. My business only made $8000 last year, but I also made $13,600 working as an employee at a chiropractic clinic. How does the IRS know how much my LLC made? Do I really need to file a business tax return? What are the consequences if I don't? Thank you in advance for any advice offered.

How to build trust as a brand?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 08:13 AM PDT

What are some ways to build trust as a brand? Not just website design aspects (fav icon, about us, not a shitty Shopify template, etc..)

I also know that testimonials are beneficial but was wondering what other creative ways have you been able to build trust as a brand?

    Fear of loneliness

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 10:51 AM PDT

So, I have been thinking about starting a food business near my area. The thing that I fear most about entrepreneurship is having no colleagues or friends, or in general people to talk to. I fear I might slip into depression. I've graduated college last year and have friends in my current company too. I've never been alone. Being alone is downright scary.

Contributing money to a single member LLC, taxed as S-corp - Will it be taxed?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 01:30 PM PDT

I would like to contribute money to a SMLLC - taxed as S corp. Would this contribution be considered income for the LLC and therefore must be paid to me as payroll or a dividend? I would like to force myself to save money within the LLC. The idea being that I would want to spend it on the business and not take the 15% se tax hit which comes from paying myself through payroll.

My country's policies are destroying my wannabe Entrepreneurship dream.

    Posted: 13 Apr 2019 06:06 PM PDT

Sorry for the odd title, although I find it well-put to describe my current situation.

First of all, if it's not obvious already, I live in a 3rd world country, the so called "developing world countries". I'm a 20 years old college student whose dream since youth to become an Entrepreneur. I kept grinding ever since my skills and doing my best to adapt them to meet the necessary requirements. I focused my attention at an early age on languages, I can speak 4 of them, I learned how to buy and sell through practice (we had a store to sell goods), and I'm pretty good with maths and especially programming.

The "thing" started when I had some financial problems 1 year after college, so I thought to myself why not become financially independent and use the skills I've been working on for years? And so I did! I enrolled a WordPress course (I'm already a bit familiar with WebDev) and started working on some websites locally (which doesn't pay much but I did it for experience anyway). Later, I stated thinking about investing in a bigger market, a world-wide market. I already had an Idea about Shopify and drop-shipping, I did some studies and asked people what are they mostly interested in (random people, it's sort of a questionnaire when you're starting a little business). I was chose Shopify because I wanted to make the first buck to use later for my project since my country's currency has been falling lately compared to the USD, so it's almost impossible to pay for it using my savings.

So my country has this policy were it's ILLEGAL to have a PayPal account or any other foreign credit card (unless you have another nationality, in my case I don't), after some struggling I got that covered and I had to move on to make my bank account and set it up with my Shopify store.. And that's were trouble started, not only none of the operational banks inside my countries territory are compatible, but also you can't spend over a total 300$/per YEAR.

I tried applying for an international bank account, tried Paysera and many others, and all of them, no exception denied my application or can't ship the card (which has all the needed info). Well, as you can see here guys I feel really lost, it's like seeing one's dream fading away.

Please any advice, information or knowledge would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance :), and sorry for the long post and mistakes (English isn't my native language).

Reaching out - IT systems for small businesses

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 12:59 PM PDT

I'm 19 years old from the UK, I'm heading to university in September to study economics finance and investing.

Up till now a large part of my studies was IT, where I built payroll systems with taxing and national insurance, stock order systems with automated emailing, and UI's for case study companies I.E. booking systems for hotels etc.

I really believe that these skills I have picked up can be transferable to small (local? Not chain based) businesses; bakeries, hardware stores, boutique stores etc.

To be able to offer a fully integrated system for the business based on deliverables set out by the client.

I have only ever done this type of thing for case studies but would like to try venture into setting something up for myself, I believe it would be classed as IT Consultancy? But would like to know if anyone here has any experience doing something similar or could point out pros/cons or major breaking points perhaps.

I would really appreciate any and all feedback offered!! Thanks in advance.

How do you set up your business so your clients pay automatically every month through credit card?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 06:36 AM PDT

In the landscaping industry, it is typical to send an invoice at the end of the month, then wait an additional month to get paid. But, when you're large enough, you start running in to cash flow issues. Could credit card fix this?

A no cost social media platform exposing prices for various insurance/out of pocket

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 09:42 AM PDT

Why doesn't someone invent a computer app for your computer or mobile device that is a social media network for insurance prices from companies.

    Here's my business idea:

-Have a business model like other "free" social media platforms, sell the data of users of the app for ad purposes. That's where the money comes from for the funding of this app

-The apps focus is exposing the expensive cost of insurance thus causing insurance companies to be way more competitive in pricing. Users have a format on the platform where users discuss how much per month they pay for a specific insurance. They then add in policy coverage basics. The final thing is deductible and the length of policy.

For example, let's say you have United Health Insurance and your policy is this:

    1. You pay $404.53 a month

    2. It's a $3,000 out of pocket

    3. You live in Omaha Nebraska

    4. The plan is 60/40

    5. Your age and gender is 32 yo male

The mobile app has inputs for these data sets formatted and it goes to calculate the median prices for insurance. By posting this data, you get points on the social media platform and get promoted on the site.

For outliers of data, they won't be included and people who habitually post bad malicious data get banned. If they can prove their outrageous data, they get extra points

The app includes Health, Cars, Housing, and other forms of insurance catagories

    Any thoughts?

Starting off as a freelance writer?

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 09:22 AM PDT

During my school, college, and working years, I've been told many times that I'm a great writer. What are my possibilities when it comes to making money out of it? I don't plan on starting a blog, since I don't have any particular niche I love, but writing itself is enough for me. Would Fiverr (heard of it recently) be a good place to start for example? Sorry if this isn't the appropriate place to ask such a question, I have no entrepreneurial experience whatsoever and thought advices here could help me.

I need you positive feed back PLEASE!

    Posted: 14 Apr 2019 08:40 AM PDT

I just started this store yesterday (on shopify because of seeing it on this thread) and this is the first time I have ever done anything like this. I picked wedding themed, because I plan to start a wedding venue business in the future and can link this site to my future site. I hope to make money selling wedding items to help pay for my actual physical venue ( I have to start somewhere to try and make money). Please check it out and tell me what you think. I am not here to try and sell anything, just want some positive feedback. Thanks for your time.
