Quick question regarding a job offer. Would love the input :)

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 09:53 AM PST

So I got a job offer from a SaaS company for an SDR role. Initially the offer was 43k + $50 per demo set. I countered that I needed at least 50k so they came back with 50k + $90 per SAL to be determined by the inside sales specialist. What's your take? They want an answer by Monday. Start Tuesday.

Also noted I have a 3rd interview for an AE role Monday morning where the OTE is around 35k more.

I'm confused...Dummy Up OR Offer Insights?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 06:06 AM PST

I'm confused. I recently read the "the Challenger Sale" which fully endorses offering insights to your prospects. Now I'm reading the very enjoyable and, at times, counter-intuitive "You Can't Teach a Kid to Ride a Bike at a Seminar" (Sandler methodology) which gives the advice to "Dummy up" when talking to prospects. Who is right here?

Help I have no degree and I’m worried it will cost me the job.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 08:51 AM PST

So I just turned down a very low paying SDR job at an ERP company in order to keep interviewing with ADP and Paychex. Paychex just said they don't want me. I just finished my ADP field ride Tuesday and am waiting to hear about moving to the final interview when my recruiter is back in the office and I REALLY want to work for these people. I've enjoyed every person I've met so far and the job looks awesome.

I have 0 degree. I got a GED in November. 2 years ago I resigned from the 11th grade and moved 1,000 miles away for a 100% commission door to door sales job in Maine during the winter. I have had a lot of success with this job and have set some really impressive records.

Having a GED paranoias the hell out of me. When should I be worried and how should I handle this situation? I was going to do like a closing statement about my experience and how it differs from a normal candidate at the end of my final interview IF I get the next one.

Is there any shame in quitting a sales job one is under performing or dislikes?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 11:41 AM PST

I've started work about 10 months ago for the largest internet provider in the U.S. Most of the customers we get are angry about their bills constantly going up (even though it was a 12m promo rate). We aren't allowed to rebundle without a new service added. TV quotas seem high as most people don't want tv just internet. Some of my peers are great some aren't I'm just not feeling it. I enjoy appliance selling but for some reason retail internet, cable and lan line phones/ cell phones and home security just doesn't do it for me. I thought it would be more of a sales job instead of customer service and retention. But I feel that if I quit I'd let my self down. But I wonder is it ever okay to walk away?

Any experienced AE’s here move from a position with a BDR setting up Discovery appts to a new job that is Cold-Call to close?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 11:00 AM PST

I have been looking around and have 10+ years of experience as an AE in the Tech sector. Half of that has been me doing discovery to close Sales. I love this role since it allows me to focus on qualifiying leads and closing large business. As most know, closing a mid to enterprise size deal is a lot more than just getting the DM to say yes. There are long negotiations, technical vetting, redlines..etc.

I was recently recruited for a few remote enterprise AE roles with prominent software companies which are cold call to close opportunities. No BDR, so my day would be cold-calls for a while before I can get back to having a funnel . In my mind this feels like a step backwards career-wise.That said, sales evolves, the BDR process may be changing, plus I am open minded. Is there anyone in a similar situation to mine who has made such a transition and can share thoughts on it?

    Current Surgical Sales Representative

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 03:48 PM PST

    Hi Everyone,

I saw some awesome content on here and just wanted to share some as well as take in most. I'm in surgical/medical sales and have always wanted to be in this career. I started off as a personal trainer out of college and then took my skills to industrial sales then to medical.

I wanted to see to see if anyone was trying to get into the field and looking for advice? If anyone was in the field and what habits they're using to succeed? Also, just see what other industries people are in, how they like it and how they're doing to be successful in it.

Comment on the thread: Say whether you are a hunter/farmer/or % of both? Are in the top 10/20/30% of your company. Making the amount of money you always wanted to make. A brief description of what you do. 2 habits that have helped you succeed. And if you have a question for everyone's advice/option drop it in as well.

I'll start off with mine. I'm in a 40/60 split of hunter/farmer. I just started this position 6 months ago, but worked for Stryker Ortho. for a little over a year prior. I'm currently in the top 25% of the company and my fiscal ends this March. My goal is to move at least into the top 15% minimum for my first full fiscal. I took a significant paycut to join Stryker from my previous job, and now I'm making more than I have ever with this new position. I work with ENT Physicians and help them build more revenue for their practice as well as sell our product into the OR for them to use. This year I started scoring myself A-F on a daily basis to assess my day/week/month on how i'm performing. I have also started waking up daily at 5:15 whether I have a case to be at by 7 or not. Those two changes have significantly helped my productivity/accountability in this very new year. I started a YouTube channel to help me stay motivated and motivate other through humorous videos, advice, interviewing techniques and just to show people what outside sales really entails. If I could ask for advice it would be on territory management and breaking buyers norms when my competition in this space has been in the same position for 15+ years each (I have 2 main competitors).

I look forward to seeing what others do and have to say. Feel free to check out my videos as well. I plan on posting a few times a week. https://bit.ly/2SksyZ9

Why chose sdr manager vs AE?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 09:34 PM PST

    Sorry for the spam.

Question is pretty straightforward but yeah my company has 50 sdrs and only top performers can advance. I would imagine ae is more rewarding financially and responsibility wise but looking for more insight

    SaaS / Enterprise solutions question

    Posted: 09 Feb 2019 05:56 AM PST

In 2008 I was hired by a media / tech company to create a new division of their firm that would sell what they were calling enterprise solutions at the time, or business intelligence SaaS, which I knew nothing about. I was only there for 2 months, due in no small part to the fact that they expected me to present at trade shows with nothing but a silk screened bed sheet for a booth display.

During the time I was there, besides arguing about an investment in a presentable booth, I learned as much as I could about data mining technologies, which as I understood it at the time resulted in the CEO and/or other exec's having a graphic interface that looked like the control panel of a race-car or fighter jet. When he sat down at his desk each morning, he would be able to see how the enterprise was functioning at a glance. Using sliders and graphic levers they would be able to model the opening of a new store, for example, just by drawing on data that correlates to similar locations within the enterprise.

I thought the whole thing was pretty cool, but mgmt was just too far out there for my tastes, so I moved on and haven't looked back until now. So I'm wondering if that's what you guys mean when you say 'enterprise solutions' - enterprise-wide data mining with a Starship-type interface. Or has the phrase come to mean something else?

Looking for a very specific headset. Any help would be appreciated.

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 07:34 PM PST

I am looking for a DECT headset that has a mute indicator on the boom mic. It seems like a reasonable request, but all the top tier headsets don't have this feature. I would like a visual confirmation that I am muted when away from my desk without needing to go back to the desk to make sure. I move around the office a lot to ask questions and figure out solutions for clients and would love this ability. Thanks in advance!

How do you "sell" yourself into a better position?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 03:36 PM PST

I'm interviewing at companies for roles that are a tad more senior than what I'm used to, and I'm insecure that they're going to grill me during the final interviews.

I know I'm capable, have a track record of success, but also am not used to the Enterprise level of closing they will require of me.

For context, I've been doing SMB/MM sales for several months now, but am looking to move into my next big role.

How can I pitch myself successfully and land these jobs that I've been wanting for years now?

What are the cons of getting into Sales Management from an IC perspective?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 04:42 PM PST

    New car salesman.

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 03:06 PM PST

I just acquired a product specialist position at a Cadillac dealership. I'm new to sales and someone suggested writing introductory letters to businesses to get my name out. Not to sell but to introduce myself. Maybe finding a business celebrating an anniversary and congratulating them, etc. Any advice on how to go about it. Get my name out there before spring hits and it gets busy.

Do you always make small talk or do you ever feel like it’s appropriate to skip it?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 08:08 PM PST

I know it hugely depends on the situation, how much you know the person, whether the meeting/call is expected, etc...

But I struggle to feel out whether the person wants me to just get to the point and skip asking about their kids and stuff.

Like they can see through the small talk, and you're just wasting their time.

Sometimes I cut the small talk off because I feel like I'm wasting people's time.

What are your experiences with this? You always do the same thing or do you feel the prospect out?

A lot of times... during the education and the natural sales process it seems like relationships are built just by presenting and doing discovery because they can see the value that you're adding.

    Thoughts?

    Contact managment software

    Posted: 08 Feb 2019 07:24 PM PST

Good Afternoon ladies and gentleman. I'm going to get straight to the point here, I am looking for a software to organize my teams follow up process.

I do not care about automated out reach or measuring stats. I am simply looking for an organizational tool to provide structure to the team for their lead contact process. Follow up due dates and a conversation notation feature are my only priorities.

This sub is clearly full of competent individuals with knowledge and experience, what recommendations do you have that would fit the criteria we're looking for?

If its not obvious by now this is for a startup with a relatively low budget, ideally services that are free would be especially helpful. However if its that great, we can always make room in the budget.

    Best regards
