Where can I find a part-time role in an early stage startup?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:11 PM PST

    Hello,

I am an Android developer/entrepreneur. I would like to work for a startup part-time. I really like wearing multiple hats. Sales, business dev, customer development, content marketing, product development, Android development.

I have a lot of initiative. I can make shit happen. I think I would be a great person to work under an early stage startup. So far I have only worked for myself for an early stage startup.

Where can I find a part-time role in an early stage startup? I would be ok with working as just an Android developer. But I really enjoy the other stuff too. I think AneglList has a lot of crap jobs mixed with fulltime stuff.

How to identify if low sales come from problems with the product, customer targeting, or sales?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 06:50 AM PST

If I have a situation where very few sales are being made with an ecommerce business, how would I decide whether it is an issue with product design, the keywords I'm targeting, or the sales funnel? How do you decide which area to focus your refactoring efforts when you're in the dark about where the issue is? Let's assume that you know it is a viable niche/product because there are other successful companies operating in it.

It seems like a chicken and egg situation, because you may have the right product with the wrong keywords, the right keywords with the wrong sales process, etc.

How best to reach/work with influencers?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:52 PM PST

    Hey guys!

So I've been consuming a lot of GaryVee content. Him and many others talk about how contacting influencers is much more effective than trying to sell ads.

My only problem is.....how do I do that? For example, company specializes in reviewing resumes. So should I go on instagram, find influencers in the career space, and message them with something like "hey! If you can give my service a shout out, i'll give you x percent of the revenue from the traffic driven by your post"? Like for example I was thinking 10%.

Is that how it works? Sorry i'm a total noob to this :)

Take a chance on those who are not good on paper if they have this one quality.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2019 01:26 AM PST

Startups are always competing over talent.

Over the last 6 months, I discovered that there is only one quality early stage startups especially should look for when hiring: Grit.

Case in point, when I transitioned from software engineering to marketing, I wasn't by any means the right candidate. Yet thanks to my manager's guidance and my teammates' support, I have grown so much in such a short timeframe. And the best is yet come.

Anyone with a similar experience? either from an employee or a manager perspective.

    Finding erlich/jobs to my richard/wozniak

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:15 PM PST

    Hi guys

I think I have a good idea and have worked on it for sometime to get a working prototype. But I am very much technically inclined and lack vision for the product. I feel like Richard henderson from the series "silicon valley". And I need someone like erlich bachman who understands the product and has a vision for it and is able to express it and explain it to the investors. I am unable to express the benefits and the future of my product. Or what the next 2-3 years look like.

How did you guys find vision for your company/product? And any suggestions about how I might find mine.

PS: Those who don't understand the reference, it's the same as 'finding jobs to my wozniak'

Contacting people over the company's contact form?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 07:36 AM PST

I want to reach out cold to two COOs of two small companies (10-50 people). I cant get their personal email addresses with the usual tools. What is the best way to reach out via the contact form on the company's website and to make sure that my message is forwarded to both persons?

    Do you think something like:

    "Please forward to John Doe.

    Hi John,

I am reaching out after meeting last month at...."

..would work? Or would this be considered too spammy and deleted? The companies are small enough so everyone is familiar with the names of the COOs..

How to figure out if I’m in too deep?

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 05:03 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

    First time posting here.

I'm a business student and together with two friends we have decided to go into a business together. One of the guys in the team is a serial entrepreneur and knows where to take the business, while myself and the third person are more into the technical parts and finance. However, our newest venture is in the medical field where none of us have any knowledge.

We have pitched our idea to various incubators and mentors and they all seem to like our idea. We even got invited to the Google incubator in London!

My only worry is that we might lack in the specific industry experience and how that might affect our idea.

Have you guys been in a similar situation and how did you deal with it?

    Excuse the mobile formatting

    Building Post-Sales Processes. Help.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 10:17 AM PST

I'm being asked to build all post-sales processes.

    This includes:

    • Onboarding
    • Training and Demos
    • Customer Support
    • Customer Success & Engagement measured by retention & churn
    • Usage Tracking and Metrics

We have practically zero systems for these processes, hence why I've been tasked with the project. And yes we are resource constrained. Expectations are very high that these processes be in place in the near-term.

Does anyone have advice on where to get started? I've prioritized onboarding as its the most necessary function. This is a lot to accomplish alone.

    Advice needed: leaving a startup

    Posted: 26 Feb 2019 02:31 AM PST

So I founded a software startup about a year ago. Been working on and off and I realised that my partner (which sadly is a good friend) seems to not have what it takes. 90% of the work has been done by myself and to be honest I have other opportunities that have a better chance of success.

Basically, it is a great idea and it has potential but the person does not. Do I have to burn the bridge because he still really believes in it and without me the thing is dead in the water?

Do I need to just pull the trigger?
