    I QUIT!

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 06:27 PM PST

I worked for an ADT security premeir provider for the last 6 months. I walked away from $1200-$3000 a week because the code of ethics in this company was so bad I could no longer say the words needed to execute our sales process any longer. I have never been part of such a crooked and dishonest syndicate in my life! I put in my two weeks yesterday and I was told today That I did not have to carry out my two weeks. GOOD RIDDANCE! Take a look at their ONE STAR reviews on yelp. Search DEFENDERS SECURITY COMPANY INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.

Does Taking your First B2B Sales Job at a Small Company with Little to No Training Hurt your Sales Career Overall?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 09:55 AM PST

In terms of building bad habits and what not. I could see how working at a small company could be beneficial in terms of learning how to use a CRM and showing that you're not afraid to get on the phone. Rarely do I see a sales job posted that doesn't require at least 1+ years of sales experience.

    First sales interview tomorrow!

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 07:29 AM PST

Hey guys. Been lurking this /r for a small while now and gotta thank y'all for the help you guys have given me, even though this is my first post here. The threads here and in the 'best of' are gold for anyone starting out, just as myself.

So here I am, after my first application I also got my first interview, which isn't too big a feat in a small town such as mine is (pop 15000). I'm not as much asking for advice for the interview, since it's tomorrow and there's not much more I can do on such short notice. But I do want y'all to wish me luck. Same time next month, I might be selling you a brand new Mercedes or Maserati.

Now I'm off to dinner with my wife to celebrate. Y'all can crack a cold one with me today and I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.

How To Identify A Sales Qualified Lead

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 10:38 AM PST

Time is one of the most valuable assets in the word of sales and everything else. With daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets to accomplish in a limited time window, there no time to spend on qualifying a lead. In the current market when a sales rep is spending time on unqualified leads, it is considered as a waste of time, as there are very simple techniques to qualify a sales lead which we are going to share in this blog.

Cisco CSAP (Cisco Sales Associate Program). How good is it really?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 09:01 AM PST

    Hey folks,

Just curious how good the Cisco CSAP program really is. I've heard it being called the "golden ticket" into high-paying tech sales at a good company.

Would anyone say this is accurate? How competitive is it? What's the rough acceptance rate?

    Any comments would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

How To Close On Leads? (Complete Beginner)

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 01:30 AM PST

So after getting my first lead yesterday (check front page ;) ) I am now faced with my first close. This is a 3D graphics business so I'm now emailing demo videos to customers who've shown interest. Here's what I have so far.

    .

    .

    Hey

Spoke with you on the phone yesterday, here's a demo reel of what we can offer your business.

Most firms in the field start at $5K and go up from there, but we have a wide variety of more reasonably priced options.

We can do a simple 3D render of your logo for $100 and that includes any animation you would like, in an easily distributed format.

Logos or other graphics with special effects and scenes up to 14 seconds are $200, including the same format as the previous option.

Scenes longer than 14 seconds are $1000, and this includes indefinite time and amount of objects as well as physics. Rendering could take up to a week, however.

And our creative team is very flexible, we can work with almost any budget as well as almost any idea. If you can dream it, we can make it.

How many of your connect's with a DM on a cold call turn into a meeting?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 07:19 AM PST

I feel like I'm really bad at this part in sales. Seems like for every 10-15 connects on the phone, I book a meeting.

My meeting show-up rate is good, so I'm at least booking sticky meetings, however the amount of times I get rejected is really wearing on me. Seems like most SDR's/AE's book a meeting for every 5-7 of their connects.

I'm comfortable with my script and my managers say I'm good on the phone, idk what it could be.

    SPIN this SPIN that.... wow

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 07:50 PM PST

I've finally gotten around to picking up SPIN selling. I kept seeing it highly recommended on here alongside Challenger which I recently finished.

Breaking away to say thanks for the recommendation r/sales. I enjoyed challenger.... but this is different. It's like a masters level text book on sales. As someone who does both small and enterprise deals, the difference it points out between the two is extremely helpful.

If ur new to sales and read this..... enjoy it. Then pick it up again in 2-3 years. I can't imagine reading this in my early 20s and understanding half the shit they are trying to get across.

May the sales gods be w u. I set an appointment w one of the biggest clients in my region to go exclusive w us today. Woooop!

How much longer should I keep at this

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 07:02 AM PST

Wanted to throw out a question to anyone who is/has been an SDR/BDR. I've been in the role 10 months now at a great company selling payroll software/services. I initially started with 3 other SDR's, all since have either moved departments or quit. Commission is just so minimal and actually getting meetings is getting harder and harder. I'd love to move into an outside role here but I just don't know how much more cold calling alone I can keep doing with such little upside while I wait for that opportunity.

Anyone have any advice or been in a similar situation?

How to report your total sales in Saas?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 06:29 AM PST

I work as a recently promoted Account Executive in a Saas company. We sell GPS tracking software that has a hardware component. I want to put how much I have sold on my resume, but am not sure if I should just put a 'total dollar figure' or an 'annual recurring revenue generated' or break the the number down by recurring revenue and one time hardware revenue.

    Examples (totally fake numbers):

    - Sold $100 of Annual Reoccurring Revenue

    - Sold $400 of Total Contract Value ($100 a year on a 3 year subscription + 100 for hardware)

    - $400 Revenue Generated - $300 Reoccurring revenue $100 one time

I apologize if these examples are a bit clunky - I'm very green still (less than 1 year).

My hope is to reflect accurate numbers on my resume and not put "fluff." I'm a big believer in not fudging the numbers.

"Sell me something you're passionate about"

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 06:15 AM PST

I know how to answer "sell me this pencil" or "sell me something", as I can infer what my interviewer needs and ask questions around that.

However, how would you answer this question? Something I'm passionate about isn't necessarily something my interviewer needs.

Is "I'm passionate about selling customers something they need, what do you need?" too much? Should I go into how I sell at my current job?

Thanks. Switching over to SaaS from beverages.

CRM-ish type software for LinkedIn funnel?

    Posted: 05 Dec 2018 05:30 AM PST

Any recommendations for software to track a LinkedIn funnel?

I'm sending out a series of very personalized messages, so programs like LinkedInhelper are out.

Looking for something like outreach.io, but for LinkedIn - or is outreach the program I should be using?

When prospecting / pipeline building, do you use your own private database in case things go sour?

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 10:22 PM PST

TLDR; got dicked by my ex company and left, now I've heard and seen all the new reps convert the leads I've gathered in my 2 years working there.

How do you seasoned sales veterans keep track of future goldmines, what are your stories and what do you do to make sure your work now isn't wasted in say 2 years time?

    Looking forward to hearing!

    New product and christmas break

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 11:08 PM PST

We have 2 new products being developed. One a software the other a physical product. The software is new for us but the physical product will be replacing the last version of the product since it has multiple problems.

Should I wait to start selling? My immediate answer is no I should not wait, while my manager says I should. Products should be done and in production in February/March.

My manager also says now is a slow time for us (we are b2b) while I think it's a great time for us to make new connections and tell people about our upcoming product launch.

What are your suggestions? I am new to the sales game but learning lots from the sub.

So Salesforce called me for an interview...

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 03:04 PM PST

Salesforce called me for an interview for a SMB AE role in San Francisco.

They said the job was for a AE role, but it was 80% upselling/cross-selling. That sounded like Account Management to me. I am a SMB AE right now prospecting/closing. The base was 60k and total comp was 100k-110k.

I talked to a friend of mine in sales, and he said his base is $75k with a 15k Bonus at P&G/Henkel/Unilever/Coke as a AE but his job sounds like Account Management too. Its going to locations and making sure they are stocked up on his product and people are selling it.

At quite a few tech companies, the top job is Global Account Manager, which appears to be Account Management for 1 F500 company.

So my question is, is Account Manager "better" than new sales? It appears that Account Management is more respected and rewarded.

    Just started B2C sales

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 05:06 PM PST

    Hi all

I just started working as a cold caller booking appointments for our sales person to sell solar systems. First 2 weeks havent been good, booking 5 leads a week. Our boss wants those up to a minimum of 15 leads per week.

I want to become an expert at sales. I've come to realise that the ability to sell will benefit me in more than just my job.

I'm looking for any help I can get. How to develope a script that will maximize my return, how to hook the customers on the phone, how blow past that "not interested" line I so frequently hear.

Any help is appreciated and thank you for reading this 🙂

    Posted: 04 Dec 2018 07:55 PM PST

I don't have any face to face sales experience can someone please guide me...

    1. How do I approach jewelry shops to sell them jewelry gift boxes?
    2. Should I call them first, then show up to their store or just stop by?
    3. What sales approach should I take?, like how would you approach them?
    4. How do I talk to large cooperate stores, and get to a decision maker? 5.How do I go about telling them its will take 25-40 days from the day order to receive the boxes and they will need to order a min of 2000 boxes per size/ customizations.

Some background I have friend in china that owns a jewelry box factory so I get the best factory price. I will be selling in the USA.
