My best friend does graphic design work and wants to incorporate some photography into his work and has invited me to help him co-found a company.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 04:29 PM PST

So, he does a lot of freelance work as a graphic designer (primarily helps small online businesses, esports teams, and streamers/youtubers) and gets some good money for it too. He didn't realise I did a bit of photography and has jumped at this idea to incorporate photography into his work and expand his clientel. He now wants to create a company with both of us to brand and help market businesses. I've told him it may not be a wise idea because there is not too much of a market for a graphic designer and amateur photographer (I have mediocre equipment and mostly post on Instagram). But what do you all think? Is there any potential in us running a business together? If so, what exactly could we advertise ourselves as and who do you reckon we should target? I'd love to do it, but I'm sceptical...

What's the real difference between an LLP and a general partnership?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 10:05 PM PST

So I'm reading up on forming partnerships. I get that an LLP has protections, but not necessarily as many as an LLC might have? Anyone out there with experience or expertise want to shed some light on how this all differs?

Also, come to think of it, what's the real differences between LLC and LLP other than tax rates?

(Marketing) Contacting email list though Facebook

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 06:12 PM PST

Hey guys! Tried posting on /marketing but didn't work..

Anyway! A friend of mine has an email list of a good few thousand people but doesn't want to use the likes of MailChimp to send a blast and has asked if there's a way to do this via Facebook instead?

To the extent of my knowledge, you only use the email list with Facebook as a source audience for the lookalike. Is this correct?

    TIA!!

    Merchant Processing

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 04:53 PM PST

For Small Business owners, what are the most compelling reasons for choosing their current providers? Was it the relationship you have with your bank, the features offered (PCI, fraud protection, etc), the rates, the ability to upscale or customize? Is it something not mentioned that clinched the deal?

What was the worst experience with your current provider? Training, After Hours Support or disputes and Chargebacks?

Building and growing startup, SME businesses is all about consistency. Consistency in winning deals, consistency in getting customer appreciations, consistency in building robust products or solutions, consistency in delivering high-quality services, and consistency in collecting payments on-time. These separate the winners from those who also-ran!

Wedding Hairdresser needs information taking and calendar style software

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 08:09 AM PST

Helo wonderful helpful supportive small business people!

My mum has a thriving wedding hair and make up business, doing 1-2 weddings a week, and will often have a trial at home some months before the wedding. She will often have a bride, a few bridesmaids, mother of the bride booking and will have all/some of them have a trial beforehand to settle what style they'd like on the day.

Right now she does all her accounting and booking on paper, taking the details through various channels like facebook/email/instagram, making up a quote and then a document to send to the bride to agree and use as an invoice.

I'm trying to funnel this all to reduce the sheer amount of work she has in organising and keeping track as she ends up just having paper everywhere when she has a phone and laptop that need to be put to use.

For accounting we're going to start using quickbooks as she can record expenses and travel easily. I am also trying to get her to use hootsuite for social to stop wasting phone time and get all comms in one place i.e. laptop for emails and social, not phone. Communication with this business from potential customers is day and night, and a phone is not ideal for the time it takes up moving between different apps and typing.

What I've come to you for is suggestions for how to take customer data and edit/store it.

Currently customers get a quote by contacting on social/email and through a constact form on the website. That will probably stay as the booking date is key, once that is confirmed as available I'd like for there to be an online form customers can fill in with the amount of people, what they need (i.e. hair, makeup, type of hair, style wanted), the date, venue, and other information.

Helo wonderful helpful supportive small business people!

tl;dr: Need software to take information on a confirmed wedding hair booking and trial to record info, update when trial is done, simple to look at and see what is coming up on calendar, needs to take information from bride and possibly output to invoice/accounting software.

I was going to set up a google form for this but then I'd like that the information could be accessed and changed on a simple system that also works as a calendar, so my Mum can use one bit of software on laptop/phone to see all the bookings and all the relevant information so it is easy to plan ahead, change details if the bride amends the booking, and to keep details/pictures ready for the trial and then record what they wanted from the trial going forward. Ideally this would take info from the form, and then also tie in to the accounting software to generate invoices.

I'm looking for software and suppose we need something like a CRM or booking software but these are often very sales based, or more like an online date choosing software, where we need something slightly different.

Could /r/smallbusiness recommend software we could use?

Disruptive products/brands as the go to strategy? True or not?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 06:09 AM PST

What are your thoughts on disruptive approach being talked about so much and what does this mean exactly? Innovative? unique?

What businesses do not have this approach? (supply stores, restaurants, service jobs). Do these examples have more of a slow and steady wins the race approach? Or an importer/exporter type mentality?

My name is Szabi, I sell plugins on CodeCanyon. One of my plugins (Newsomatic) was rebranded and sold on JVZoo without my consent, under the name NewsBuilder. It generated lots of sales, because the guy that made it had a large affiliate network.

    Rebranded plugin: https://newsbuilder.io/

    My plugin: https://codecanyon.net/item/newsomatic-automatic-news-post-generator-plugin-for-wordpress/20039739

What do you think of this? Is this nice? :\

    Any advise is appreciated.

Recommend a guide for running a small grocery store?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 10:11 AM PST

Hi there, I'd like to try my hand at a starting a small grocery store. I'd expect that many things must be learned — such as inventory management, accounting, shop design layout, human resource management, and other related strategies. I'd like to learn these topics as they relate to a grocery store.

Is there a go-to course for learning how to open a simple grocery store? I would even appreciate any input you may have on this subject. Thank you.

PS: I am from a developing country.

Launching an Online Casino Next Month and I'm 18 Years Old (PLEASE READ!)

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 11:03 PM PST

Hey guys, this is actually my first reddit post ever so bare with me.

I'm 18 years old and I'm launching an online casino next month. The gambling industry is something I've always been excited about -- I actually launched my first online casino when I was 16 years old, but got shut down fairly quickly because PayPal doesn't allow merchants to processes gambling payments (for the most part.)

My new site will allow PayPal/Bitcoin deposits and withdrawals. You may be thinking, "Didn't you just say PayPal doesn't allow payments related to gambling?!" Yes, for the most part. I've spoken to them directly and got their personal approval to do this, so I'm in the clear.

My goal for 2019 is to make at least $1 Million profit with the casino. The startup cost was $1k for UI designs, and $4k for development. (I found an investor to put up the entire startup cost, and he will also be providing me with a marketing budget of around $5k even though I have over $40k in the bank lol)

The primary way sites like mine market is by sponsoring gambling YouTubers to make videos on our site. Here are some examples of what I mean by sponsoring YouTubers:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU4y-EUBLYI

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EO1AqtC1ees

Anyways, my intention for making this reddit post is to seek advice from others who are familiar with the gambling industry, or even just to get some input on what you guys think!

I'd also be more than happy to answer any questions if you guys have any.

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my post.

Passive income ideas from facility members

    Posted: 22 Nov 2018 07:59 AM PST

Hi, I own a fitness centre with ~200 active members, these people are in and out 24 hours per day. We have trainers and group training but I'm looking for suggestions to earn passive income.

Eg. devices or programs people could swipe a credit card or enter cash at any time of day. I've looked into body fat test machines where you enter credit card to get results... 15000 new... so would take a long time to pay that off.

Looking for creative and outside the box ideas... cheers
