Posted: 05 Nov 2018 09:21 AM PST Hey guys I have an interview with Oracle in a couple of days and I am really nervous about it. I really want to do well and get the position. Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to prepare for the interview? Also has anyone else been through the interview process or is currently working for Oracle in a sales position? Edit: The position I am applying for is their entry level, recent college grad position. I believe the program is called " Class of BDC" [link] [comments] |

Any advice for learning to love the suck (Menial Newbie Tasks)? Posted: 05 Nov 2018 10:15 AM PST Been spending the past couple days staring at Spreadsheets and managed to push through it. My task has been to check Sales force and check our Contracts system, to make sure they both match and dish out entitlement if we messed up.A pretty big ask considering the number of companies. My tactic has been to push through it H.A.M, neglecting any socialising time to get it done. This has left me feeling a tad burnt out. I've kept myself motivated by telling myself "This is just to get you used to the systems" but the devil in my head is like "Sh*t, is this going to be a constant thing if they find out I'm good at it?" Any advice for stopping myself from becoming a spreadsheet zombie? What did you guys find helpful to keep yourself motivated in the early days? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2018 07:03 AM PST Hello friends, I work in sales running on site appointments for a commercial cleaning business. However I am faced with a dilemma. Our reps set appointments for me to run, and I always qualify the appointments before going as some can be over an hour drive. My question is. With multiple appointments a day and time being valuable, when I call these prospects how to I determine their urgency to act or seriousness, and if they are just interested in a free quote and will never act on it and waste my companies time, how do I politely tell them I cannot meet them for the appointment? Big meeting tomorrow - how to prepare Posted: 05 Nov 2018 11:57 AM PST I have a meeting tomorrow in which I'll hopefully be landing my biggest client yet. I've prepared a good proposal, clearly outlining definicies and incompetence of their current provider (unfortunately they have a long relationship so some loyalty there). I've highlighted what we will do for them and am now preparing some cue cards for my pitch. My biggest worry is that I have good days and bad days ie some days I'll be on point, articulated.. Whereas others I'll ramble on and struggle to get my point accross. Does anyone have any good tips on how to prepare or in general how to close? I really want this client and have a good argument to get them I just hope I can follow through! The boss is watching me closely on this one [link] [comments] |

Does your company get frequent enterprise inbound leads? Or have I hit the jackpot? Posted: 05 Nov 2018 05:36 AM PST Hey there, I'm looking for other industries (if you could name specific companies even better) that receive regular enterprise inbound leads? The company I work for in is the software testing space (ACV $60k) and we get several inbound enquiries from enterprises per month. We can't be the only one, right? The reason why I ask: leaving current company, looking for similar high-growth industries [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2018 11:20 AM PST I have an interview at a software company for entry level sales. The main part of the interview is executing a presentation. They will email me a prompt and give me one week to prepare. I am very excited and this would be an amazing opportunity. I have a question on what the presentation should focus on and any tips you can give because I really need this job. I enjoy presenting but I still get nervous. How can I avoid being nervous? What have you done in past presentations that made it successful? Out of curiosity, have you had an interview that made you do a presentation before the formal interview? Also I do have public speaking experience. [link] [comments] |
Stable VOIP provider with call recording. Posted: 05 Nov 2018 11:06 AM PST I'm having trouble with my current VOIP provider (Twilio) through the CRM. It's bothering me that I'm getting bad call quality in business hours. Someone mentioned Anvio or Anveo last week here but can't find the exact thread. Anveo seems to be a VOIP provider. Can anyone post if they are using them? I need the SF integration and call recordings as I log all my calls and listen later. Any other suggestions would be great as well. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 03:34 PM PST I work for a very small software provider. First/only sales hire. I prospect, demo, close. I also do training and monitor their onboarding and implementation. I get commission on every reup so I'm incentivised to look after them as an account manager as well as hunting for new clients. Partly due to the nature of our product not being turnkey and requiring some fitting to the clients business, and partly because we're so small and new that there isn't a lot of standard procedure or a whole lot of bodies to go around, I'm finding myself spending a lot of time talking to clients post sale doing what almost seems to me to be project management work, management consulting work, and sometimes just straight up customer service where I help the actual end users. There's not just the time cost in that while I'm doing these things I'm not spending time getting new clients. If that was the case I could just go to my boss and say "hey, I took the job based on some rough assumptions about how much business I could be bringing in which was based on me spending all my time selling. Turns out I'm also doing X, Y, and Z. Give more money". Rather I'm concerned that if I'm doing tasks too far outside of my profession, I'm hindering my skill growth. That if this isn't a fairly standard situation, that these things will count for nothing on my resume. More than that though, it's draining. Having so much to do after getting them to sign is killing the drive to close. It's not a thing I feel like celebrating any more. It's just another step in the process. New clients aren't a win they're a burden. I otherwise like the industry, product, and company. I think I can make an awful lot of money here if I play my cards right. For those in this space. Selling software in the $20k-100k/year range. How does the whole "looking after the client" thing work from your point of view? Particularly the shaping of their business processes where necessary to fit the product and shaping the product where necessary to fit the business. Do you just get them to sign then introduce them to a separate account manager? Bring in someone from your companies tech team? Do you stay on top of it internally making sure everything is done on schedule and acting as a go between for the tech people and their DM? Do you find yourself talking to non-DM staff on the clients side to any great degree? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2018 06:29 AM PST Hi all- first let me say that my account has no karma because I'm using a throw away (my real account has my somewhat unique last name in it and I'm paranoid). I just got a phone interview for a Regional Sales Manager position at Splunk! I've been with the same company since graduating college 6 years ago so I'm excited but also nervous. I've searched the sub and only found Splunk mentioned a few times. Any advice/comments? [link] [comments] |
What is the best way to sell cars via Facebook/Instagram? Posted: 05 Nov 2018 09:00 AM PST Does anybody know of a highly successful car sales page on Facebook or Instagram that belongs to a salesperson individually? I'm looking for ideas of what works! I am having trouble choosing content that gains followers and also shows off inventory without going overboard. Currently I post 8-10 times per day, using contests and provoking opinions seems to work for gaining engagement. I also share funny memes about cars or driving, and I share current interesting information about the auto industry. Sometimes I offer tips on how to select a vehicle, or how to find the best salesman to take care of you. Obviously I pepper in a few pieces of inventory, walk-around videos or photos of the best deals on the lot. Any and all help on how I can improve is deeply appreciated, thank you so much my sales amigos! :D [link] [comments] |
How would one get a contact at a fuel terminal like Magellan? Posted: 05 Nov 2018 07:44 AM PST Im grinding away as a newby to the oilfield chemical sales industry and I've hit another roadblock. Since reddit was so helpful last time I figured we'd go for round two! We are using copious amount of Dyed Diesel and i'm trying to set up supply relationships with someone who can actually handle our volume, but I have no idea how to start this process. I have already tried googling the different terminal locations and calling but everything gets routed to HQ general mailbox. My next thought was driving the 8 hours to one of these facilities and talk to them in person but i'm concerned that I wont even be able to get on site. How would r/sales handle this? Posted: 05 Nov 2018 07:39 AM PST I'm taking my real estate exam shortly and I'm having trouble on what I should look for in a broker. [link] [comments] |
Newly promoted AE from SDR, feeling burnt out Posted: 05 Nov 2018 06:29 AM PST Hi r/sales. I'm a newly promoted AE working remotely for an EdTech SaaS start up. I've been with this company since January. From Jan-Aug, I was an SDR. This was a unique job as I would have the regular duties of an SDR but would also be doing onsite demos and having them sign up for a trial of our product. This required a lot of travel (2-3 weeks a month). We handled the first 75% of the sale and then handed it off to an AE for closing. I was the most successful out of our team of 13 or so during this time. SDR team were all promoted to AE roles recently. Since September, I've been working the full sales cycle with all the same amount of travel. I ended up having 2-3 deals all fall a part at one time, which would've put me way ahead of quota. This coupled with the extensive travel had me very burnt-out in October. I've done the necessary Biz Dev legwork to get to this AE role, but don't think the remote work and travel heavy nature of this job so early in my career is the right fit for me. Any advice on transition to another AE role or will I have to take a step back again into a BD role to keep progressing? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 09:13 PM PST Was at my sales meeting last Wednesday and my GSM mentioned that if someone says something about price, not to view it as an objection, but it shows that they're serious about buying...since then I've sold every customer I've been in front of. Think that was the last piece I needed to understand sales! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Nov 2018 12:49 AM PST Hey guys, This is more relevant for SaaS/B2B sales. Those of you who work with Linkedin to find potential leads, what is your approach? Wonder how others do it. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Sales Managers, how competitive/lenient are you with your sales reps on new business? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 04:38 PM PST Backstory: I am in the recruiting space in the midwest. My boss has built up accounts for over ten years and has some massive business; many of which are on a national scale. As of last week, they took notice of me bringing in more new accounts and I speculate they became jealous. I am honestly not sure. Specifically, this relates to two types of emails I send out per week. One is a large scale email to probably 7,000 contacts showing off who our recruiters interviewed for the week to try to pull in business. The other is smaller scale (1,000 or less) for a specific type of candidate to a related industry. They have suggested we combine all of our efforts/contacts for our separate weekly emails to our respective prospects/current clients and put both our names at the bottom, and switch off on any new accounts this pulls in that haven't been directly contacted by either of us recently. I genuinely cannot tell if this is a jealous/controlling move by them or if it is an attempt to be 'fair' or potentially even save time/energy. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Nov 2018 03:31 PM PST Has anyone in here gone through the Oracle Class Of program or know of anyone who went through it? Received an offer for it and starting to do a little due diligence. Any help is appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments] |
Interviewed for sales job. No answer yet, but hiring manager keeping in touch. Posted: 04 Nov 2018 08:53 PM PST I interviewed and it went well. I sent a follow up email 2 days later. The hiring manager responded and said he had two more interviews to do this week and then he'll reach out to me. Am I reading too much into the fact that he reached out? If he didn't like me, he's just ignore my email, right? [link] [comments] |
Doing sales for an american company but living abroad? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 04:40 PM PST I am interested in doing some sales but I do not live in the US. I'd love to get into the US cold calling game or whatever kinda sales there is where I'd get some leads and I need to sell to them. Obviously I prefer american companies/products and american leads to sell stuff to. The only "problem" is that I am not living in the US. Would it be possible to work remotely for example for US company xyz and sell their products via phone from europe? The second thing is: I'd also need their leads/clients list to work with obviously. Are there some companies out there that do this kind of work-relationship, just like in the affiliate marketing space (where you would have to get your own leads though!) [link] [comments] |
Recommended source for physician email lists? Posted: 04 Nov 2018 08:24 PM PST There are a ton of random companies constantly cold emailing me regarding email lists for purchase. I'm actually considering purchasing one, but worried about the quality. Can anyone here recommend a reputable source? [link] [comments] |
