Running a Business Mostly With Paypal? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 09:00 PM PDT I will be starting a side hustle which will basically be me buying and selling electronic stuff on Ebay and other sites. It's not anything big, just a way for 18-year-old me to keep a bit of money in my pocket legally unlike my weed-selling classmates. Anyways, online transactions will primarily be dealing with online money. I was considering opening a business account with Bank of America (where I recently got a debit card [don't worry, I asked my financial advisor nearly straightaway if I could conduct business on my debit card and he put me off of it]) but I'm pretty sure my business wouldn't be able to keep up with that monthly fee and other clauses. I thought back to my time selling CSGO skins and realized that Paypal could be an option. However I still have some doubts that may sound self-explanatory or just be stupid in general, but here I go. For example, what if a customer were trying to pay for some of my goods with a credit card that isn't a Paypal credit card? Would they be able to pay? How about me? If they would be able to pay, would I receive the money as a Paypal balance or would it go to my debit card, which is linked to my Paypal account? How about purchasing stuff? Are there any sites where Paypal balance isn't an accepted form of currency? And how would I transfer my Paypal funds from online into real cash? Thanks in advance for answering my questions. Posted: 06 Oct 2018 10:32 PM PDT I had a family member ask me this question and I didn't know the answer so I thought to turn here for advice. They are starting a medical practice and weren't sure how to organize the business. Usually I think the answer would be to be organized as some sort of pass through entity like a PLLC. But he asked me today if the tax implications were lower as an S-Corp, on the theory that the corporate tax rate is now 21%. As I understand it, though, that doesn't benefit him, because an S-Corp is a pass-through, and he'll still pay taxes at whatever his individual rate is. And it doesn't make sense to be a C-corp and take advantage of the 21% rate, because then he'll pay double tax (21% and then whatever his individual rate is). Is that correct? Thanks in advance! They did ask an accountant who said to form an S Corp but gave little in the way of explanation as to why. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2018 11:58 PM PDT I'm a chef but I'm done with that sordid life and am starting an office cleaning business. When I meet potential clients and they ask about my previous experience, what do I say? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Oct 2018 04:19 AM PDT Hey, so like the title says I'm really down to open my own animal rescue. But of course I need money and time. If everything works out like I planed I can work part time, run my rescue and sell my products as a side income. And maybe later become independent if I get sponsores and stuff like that. Maybe I open a gofundme? I'm not sure yet. I'm planing on making Cat, Dog and Rebbit treats as well as leashes, collars and harnesses for all those pets. Maybe Keychains and other stuff. I'm not familiar with starting a small business and what I need to do first. But befor opening the sale I'd like to have a few tester of my products, is that a good idea or just don't worth? I'd like any help and tips I could get! Message me or just comment! Thank you! :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2018 04:54 AM PDT So, I have a Laser Hair Removal clinic; we have been in operation for over a decade and when we started it was good times. We have good equipment, good staff, an excellent location and a good reputation. Over the last 3 years or so, business has dropped dramatically ( 40% of what it was 5 years ago, we're basically breaking even now and costs are always rising) due to mainly the introduction of Groupon type sites hoodwinking our competitors into giving out ridiculous deals. We avoided that, but it created a situation where people in this area now view the service as a commodity. The amount of competition in our vicinity has increased 400% in the last two years and EVERYONE competes on discounts and offers. We've had to do the same as we saw our numbers going down, to the point where offering 60% off is the new normal. I know that to escape this downward spiral we have to stop chasing after what other people are doing and create our own message of providing value and differentiating ourselves from the completion. But HOW do we deal with the price issue? I'd be grateful for any insight people have into packaging prices of this sort of thing differently so it hinders the immediate price comparison that potential clients will be doing. Stuff like changing how we charge for the the service, for example charging by the minute or amount of shots instead of per area/per session. Hope that makes sense - this kind of crept up on us and we've been reactive to the whole situation and constantly on the back foot, but it's time to do something proactive and separate ourselves from the "always on discount" cycle... Contract validity with a business by a minor Posted: 07 Oct 2018 01:10 AM PDT Preface: Let me know if this is better suited for r/legaladvice I run a small service business as a minor. The business operates as a LLC, with myself and one of my parents as members. My question regards contracts. My current contract gets a signature from myself and the client, setting out common expectations, etc. My understanding is that contracts signed by minors are invalid as the minor is legally incompetent in entering into a contract. I haven't found a clear answer though, regarding whether the contract signed by myself, on behalf of the company, and the client is "strong enough" for me to be able to legally back it up if a client is unwilling to comply with the terms, payment, etc. Some sites I've visited suggest that the contract is invalid as the minor can break it, but if I don't break it, is it still legally sound? Sorry for being a bit longwinded, but I'm trying to cover all my bases... Thanks, [link] [comments] |

Increasing/boosting online traffic Posted: 06 Oct 2018 08:28 PM PDT I'm looking to boost some online web traffic to my newly launched site and is wondering if anyone has any tips on doing so? Posted: 06 Oct 2018 07:49 PM PDT I have a question and I hope you guys can help me out with the answer. Thank you ahead of time. My questions is if I have a regular salary job and I run a small LLC on the side, can I still collect unemployment from my salary job? If so how do I do it? If not, why? [link] [comments] |
Social media for a local restaurant Posted: 06 Oct 2018 12:32 PM PDT Hey guys my name is Ben and long story short these guys don't have any social media and asked me to do it for them. I don't plan to charge for it because 1. I've never done it before and 2. Because it would be a good thing to do. I've never done any commercial social media before and hoping for some help in what I should do to start off and how to approach it. Not able to hire manpower for my business Posted: 06 Oct 2018 06:13 AM PDT I own a small business in Tier 2 city in India. It's been very challenging for me to hire and retain manpower. I have tried online job portals and wasted a good chunk of money promoting my job offer. Business 1: It requires two managerial staffs and 1 cleaner. One of the managerial staff is there for around a year but now he is willing to leave the job for freelancing. And that one person now wants me to increase his pay exponentially or he'll leave (making my business staff-less). Despite regular efforts, I have not been able to find another candidate. People join and leave within a month. That makes me visit the job portals again and this is distracting me from doing my professional work. Professional work: I am a blogger and a developer. For around a year, I am trying to hire two content writers but it now seems like nobody is educated enough in my city to the job. Freelancers across India are far better. But I need personnel at my office to discuss things before proceeding. This is the current scene of my business. And they say India has unemployment. These are the challenges faced by an Indian small business owner despite throwing money. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Oct 2018 10:10 PM PDT Not sure if the title described that very well. I have an opportunity to talk with my boss (owner of local hardware store in a 7k pop town) about making improvements to the store to increase sales and improve the general perception of the store to consumers. I know that I'm going to need data to back up my statements, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult. Where can I look? Example: I found this statement from a visual merchandiser
Where can I find something that backs up that statement, and others? I'm trying to show the owner that I did my homework and the things I'm telling him are not just made up. More background infoThis store has been around for decades in this town and there's a general perception that we don't carry the stuff that is needed. The next closest store for this kind of stuff is 20 miles away at Home Depot/Lowes. Marketing/advertising aside, in my first 48 hours as an employee I was met with dozens of little issues that are extremely clear indicators of why the store is not taken seriously as a place to stop and look at: -Items with wrong pricing (literally 10 year old tags) -Items without price tags at all -Items being in the wrong spots -ALL the price tags are the exact same sizing and generic with non-descriptive markers, making it difficult to determine which tags belong to which items. -The store roof is leaking -The floor tiles at the entrance to the store are broken up -Impulse items EVERYWHERE and watching customers look at it all is a perfect example of choice paralysis resulting in nobody buying any of them. I may have painted a picture of a very run down store that would just feel really shitty walking into. At one point, I'm pretty sure it did feel like that but since the owner took over 10 years ago, he's made great strides. Another quote from that visual merchandiser I quoted above that perfectly describes the state of the store owner
Do I sell this as an opportunity for him to have an 'in-house' consultant that actually has some education to see stuff with fresh eyes? [link] [comments] |
How do you go from "idea" to reality? Posted: 05 Oct 2018 08:06 PM PDT My spouse has come up with a remarkable business idea. The thing is, we have zero idea how we can go about getting the idea off the ground. The biggest problem is the usual; funding. Should we have our product/idea fully developed before approaching a investor? It is technically e-commerce with a subscription fee. I know it is not wise to just approach with an idea but we could also use funding to help develop the idea. [link] [comments] |
