Posted: 26 Oct 2018 05:44 AM PDT To make a long story short, my sister and I (twins) met up with a few friends from high school, one of them was a guy that my sister dated in 10th grade who had recently gotten divorced and moved back into town. We went to Applebees and afterwards went to a bar that we used to go when we were younger for drinks, my sister and I are both recovering alcoholics but we didn't want to make a big thing of it, so I went up to order us a round of drinks and asked for two cokes in glasses with lemon (would look like jack and coke), it was taking awhile for the drinks and I had to pee so I asked that guy to wait for the drinks when I was in the bathroom, I was gone for 2 minutes, I came back and he was bringing the drinks back to the table. 20 minutes later my sister started acting drunk, which I thought was weird because like I said we were drinking soda, I thought that she had relapsed and brought a flask in her purse or something, 15 minutes later she couldn't stand up or keep her eyes open. I carried her out and we all decided to call it a night. Now here is where things got weird, this guy kept offering to drive her home, I said no and that I had to get some stuff from her place anyway, but he kept being really persistent, she was passing out at this point and he kept insisting that I put her in his car, eventually I told him to fuck off and he peeled away. I was worried and brought her to my place so my wife (who is a CNA) and I could watch her, she is still asleep. I think that guy roofied her drink while I was in the bathroom and was trying to rape her, but we can't prove that, should the police be called? [link] [comments] |
Update: [FL]Neighbors/tenants cutting down my magnolia trees w/o consent Posted: 25 Oct 2018 05:22 PM PDT Link to original post in case you need it: https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/8wkt4x/flneighborstenants_cutting_down_my_magnolia_trees/ I've received a number of messages begging for an update, but as it's only been a few months, I can only give a partial one, due to the ongoing legal issues (my attorneys have advised me not to divulge too much to anyone). 1) The day after my post, I called a good friend of mine who has been my go to plumber since I inherited the property (we went to high school together), to ask for his help. He went to both houses the next day, saying that I had called him last week since the water bill seemed high, and asked him to come look at the pipes. He went through the houses, surreptitiously taking pictures, while "inspecting" the bathrooms/kitchens/water boilers, etc for leaks. Apparently while he was there they made a bunch of comments about me that included racial slurs (tldr: i'm biracial, and do not pass for white) and such about how I need to learn my place. After he'd inspected both houses he came over to mine, and gave me all the photos. 2) I conferred with an attorney regarding evicting them, and four days later both families were served with 7 day eviction notices. As expected, they blew up, and started throwing rocks at my house, slinging more racial epithets in my direction. I'd always grown up being terrified of angry racist white men twice my size, I never realized how unbelievably pathetic they actually are until I watched them crying like babies while being hauled off by the police on the video cameras. 3) The bride made a very angry post on facebook, followed up by standing up in church (small town, most of us go to the same church) during "prayers and concerns" to beg for prayers for her family because "Our landlord is evicting all of us because she's jealous that I'm getting married!" The pastor, feigning innocence, said "I thought she was evicting you all because your father and [Groom]'s father cut down [My Great-Grandmother]'s prize magnolias?" Hardest game of You-Laugh-You-Lose I've ever played, still proud I survived. 4) According to the arborists (yes plural. though my friend came out and did an assessment, my attorney for the suit over the trees advised selecting someone who isn't so close to me for the paperwork we'll submit to the court), based on the number of trees cut down and the number of trees damaged beyond repair, and how old/well-tended those trees were, the value of the trees alone is more than i could sell all three houses for in the current housing market around here. Then the attorney started talking about how the damages are multiplied and let's just say I would be quite happy with half that number, but I know when to zip my lips so I'll let my attorneys handle the negotiating. 5) They did, in fact, destroy the houses as best they could. I have enough savings/inheritance left that I can live without the rents for a while, so I'm using it as an excuse to have both houses renovated since they haven't had major renovations since well before I was born. 6) The bride and groom got married and had their reception in the church basement instead of the cul-de-sac. They had to cancel the honeymoon to spend the money on legal fees. (Am I a bad person for being amused?) 7) Hurricane Michael just gave me some wild thunderstorms, thankfully passed over us with the worst of it. 8) My boyfriend of seven years proposed (finally, goddamn). Other than that, you'll have to wait until the eternally slow court systems process through. I do want to take a moment to thank you all for thinking of me, and being so helpful with your advice with what was a terrifying ordeal at the time. I'd never really stood up to my elders like that before, and it was comforting to know that not only did a gaggle of internet strangers have my back, but there were resources and protections in my community as well. Posted: 26 Oct 2018 05:08 AM PDT General location is Kentucky, USA. So my nephew is getting a 0/24, with a few other students because they choose to sit during the pledge of allegiance during 1st period English class. The teacher waits for the announcement each morning then writes down who is standing and participating versus who's seated. It might a racial concern, but I don't want to pull that card unless I have definite proof. My nephew is a fine student, so it's not like it's failing him, but I'm concerned with how to address the teacher and/or administration. [link] [comments] |
[Update][FL] Escalating levels of sexual harassment at work Posted: 26 Oct 2018 10:40 AM PDT Couldn't sign into the throwaway, so using a new one for the update. Just wanted to thank the two users who replied who were very kind and helpful. Ultimately things worked themselves out before a lawyer got involved. The main guy who instigated the harassment is being brought up on domestic abuse charges (shocking, I know) and was subsequently fired. The second guy lost steam without his cheerleader with him. I don't have to worry regardless though as I got a new and significantly better job as an actuary for a major health insurance company! I will be moving with the new job, so I pretty much get to put the whole situation behind me. Thank you again for your help, kindness, and impressing upon me how serious that situation was. I'm a bit desensitized to the language they were using, but seeing the reaction really made me push to get out of there sooner than later. Ultimately it ends with me getting to finally start my career. :) [link] [comments] |
Update: autistic 11 y/o VS Colorado Posted: 26 Oct 2018 12:38 PM PDT Good news! I was successfully able to get the media involved. Two news stations aired our story in Denver last night. With the media inquiries the DA dismissed the case against my son before the news even aired. The DA also confirmed that the sheriffs department did not supply all the relevant information about my son. 1: didn't mention he's autistic. 2: didn't mention he had an attorney. 3: didn't mention the reason the case was dismissed at the municipal level. In fact they straight up made up a reason which was that I'm crazy and the prosecutor didn't want to deal with me. However, I never actually had any contact with the court system except to ask when his court date was scheduled for. All other contact went through his attorney. Plus, if that were the case then why would t that prosecutor actually have given the case to the DA? All said, it sounds like it was the SRO and the detective, who I've never actually met, that was really trying to go after my son. Since they made up a story about me I suspect it has to do with them simply not liking me. I have no idea why though. I had just moved to that town about a month prior. For now I think it's over however, my son will never be going to Adams county for any reason whatsoever. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Oct 2018 07:50 AM PDT As a lurker I've advised the most common information, lawyer up, contact the landlord/tenant board, contact police for every interaction with the invader as well as paper trail for requests to have locks changed as well as general complaints about the breach of privacy in her home. Can she pay to have the locks changed? At this point she's having trouble sleeping, she's having a hard time focusing at work because he might be in her home at any given point. What are her options at this point other than waiting for the current processes to go through? [link] [comments] |
My childrens' school has rejected my authorised absence request. What can I do now? Posted: 26 Oct 2018 03:42 AM PDT Location: United Kingdom (EDIT: I have posted it in the UK section) Hi there, Apologies if I have made any mistake in my post. This is my first time on this sub! A bit of backstory: My husband suddenly passed away in February this year. I've been feeling increasingly depressed since them and I want to travel to Pakistan to see my mum/family, as it's been more than 8 years since I've seen them. We'll also conduct funeral services there (mourning, etc). I booked the flight tickets for myself and four of my children (I am leaving my oldest one - 17 y/o - at home) on the 22nd of September. The flight cost was around £3200. Two of my sons are in secondary school (they are 15 and 12) and I requested absence from their headmaster; he approved the leave with certain conditions, like they must come into school on the day of the flight and arrive back to school the day after we return. However, for my younger two sons (they are 8 and 4), I requested absence a few days from their headmistress, and the reply back actually returned half an hour ago. The request was denied. There was a warning that since the absence will be regarded as unauthorised, if we choose to go, there will be legal implications (fines, etc). Now, I don't know why they've rejected it, as my sons' secondary school accepted it (and my 15 year old has important exams this year as well) and I can't just leave them at home because there is nobody to look after them. I also cannot just cancel my tickets, because this will cost quite a bit of money. By the way, my younger sons' attendance is 100% so far and neither of them have taken leave from school for any reason. I am now worried because I also work at the school and I do not know if they will reject my request for work leave too. Is there anything I can do? Is the school being unreasonable? Posted: 26 Oct 2018 06:27 AM PDT Not sure if this is the correct place to find answers for this but figured Id try because my Girlfriend is overly concerned. About an hour ago she was pulling out of a gas station parking lot onto a main road. The right lane was clear but the left lane was not (Morning rush hour usual) As she was pulling out, a white pickup truck merged into her lane and her mirror clipped the truck. Her car was undamaged but there was a scratch and scuff mark on the gentleman's truck (Very minor damage). He got out of the truck said it was his work truck, took a pic of her license plate, said no need for a police report, and drove off. He also blamed her for merging into his lane. My gf is concerned that she will be stuck having to pay for damages since no police report was filed, and no one else to say that she was not at fault. I have never been in a car accident therefore I am unfamiliar with this kind of things and wanted to see what she would get caught paying.. Any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
[UPDATE] Neighbor threatened to sue over a wheelchair ramp Posted: 26 Oct 2018 02:27 PM PDT So I put up a bunch of cameras around my property and hung up a "Smile! You're On Camera!" sign right after my first post. I also lit up the ramp some more, which I was already planning on doing because of trick-or-treaters. I'm excited to say my neighbor's husband personally came over to apologize to me, which I caught on camera. He claimed his wife is "stressed" over their new baby, which…okay…and promised not to bother us anymore. I suspect one of the neighbors I talked to read him the riot act. I accepted the apology but am keeping the number of a lawyer close by and the cameras are always rolling. Dislike being so paranoid but what are you going to do? [link] [comments] |
Update: Being sued by my "ex boyfriend" Posted: 25 Oct 2018 04:35 PM PDT https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/94vz3q/being_sued_by_my_ex_boyfriend I understand it's courtesy to give updates. Soon after my last post, my ex sent me a very expensive string of gifts in an attempt to win me back. When I ignored that, after a month or so of him sending flowers, letters, and all sorts of other things, he showed up at my door and knocked for over an hour until my roommate came home and called the police. He was gone by the time they got there. A couple of days later I came home and he was waiting for me, so I drove off and called the police. My roommate said they told him to go away and not come back. At this point I had a chat with a lawyer, because I was very, very scared. And then we get to last week, where he was arrested after having broken into my house and was caught going through the mini fridge in my bedroom. Honestly I'm pretty terrified, but he's in custody now, I'm working with my lawyer to get rid of him for good. I'm honestly considering moving when my lease ends at the end of this year. I've definitely learned my lesson... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Oct 2018 10:29 AM PDT Location: South FL Hi all, title says a lot. I'm 19 now, but between ages 15-17 I was in a sexual relationship with the principal of my very small school. For some background, I had a lot of psychological problems throughout high school (bipolar, severe anxiety, PTSD from sexual assault when I was a child) and during a two year period (when I was 14-16) was in and out of the psychiatric hospital a total of 5 times for attempted suicide and self harm. He knew of all of this as he quickly became a close family friend since the school was so small. I plan to go to the police department and file a report but I don't really have any evidence as the text messages exchanged during that period have since been deleted. Can anything come of it without proper evidence? If anything happens with this, can he use my mental illness against me? I just don't want anything like that to happen to someone else, and I know that if he did this to me then he's likely doing it to others. He still contacts me occasionally, and at one point told me we should get coffee "for old times sake". I don't have the text, it made me too sick to keep on my phone. I also blocked him on everything ever since disclosing what happened to my mom and my therapist. [link] [comments] |
Is this considered physical assualt? Posted: 26 Oct 2018 08:40 AM PDT A few months ago my parents made me go to this church thing at someone's house. They asked my parents to leave so they could spend time with me(which was strange because I had never met them before). The husband freaked me out the most because he said "there's a spirit in you" (which i knew was fake obviously but the way he said it threw me off). He told his wife to grab 2 bibles as well as 2 plastic crosses. He got the crosses and she had the bibles. They kept "praying" and told me that God "said" to do this. The husband grabbed my phone (i was trying to record this for proof) and would not give it back to me the wife held me Down and hit me with bibles (they were both bigger weight wise so every time i tried to push away they would slap me). If i would have been able to grab my phone and record this then of called the cops right then would they have gotten in trouble? Was that assualt? Wondering cause when i told my friend he said it was assualt and i should have called Cops even though they took the phone Georgia Not troll this happened as my Parents thought i needed to talk to a counselor but they are christians and found these people [link] [comments] |
[OH] Previous Homeowner Had Substantial Yardwork Done Then Got Foreclosed. Could I Be On The Hook? Posted: 26 Oct 2018 05:43 AM PDT I was just made aware that the previous homeowner had some expensive (~$10k) yardwork done 6 years ago before losing his job and ultimately being foreclosed on (a very sad story). To my knowledge no lien was ever filed on the property, we have title insurance. My question is can the landscaper come after me as the current homeowner? I have no idea where the previous homeowner lives now. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Oct 2018 08:12 AM PDT Washington, DC I along with 3 friends and my partner rent a historic house in an upper-class urban area. We're students, and can afford to live here because our unit of the duplex house is a fixer-upper with lots of repairs needed so the rent is quite low. When we moved in our landlord, who is sweet and generally helpful, warned us that our neighbor "Alan" was very uptight and tended to try and control the neighbors. Our house has a little brick patio on the front left where we kept our trash and recycling bins. However, our neighbors kept stuffing our bins with their trash and leaving a mess which is a violation and can result in fines for us since it's our house. It was a real problem because we had no space in the cans to put our own trash. Not long after moving in, someone stole a political sign I put out front. After living there for a few months with the trash and sign theft problem, someone egged our house and broke a window on the other unit, leading our landlord to install security cameras. Since then, the trash problem was solved when we saw "Alan" and his tenants dumping in our trash cans. "Alan" then had the nerve to (on camera!) dump a box spring in front of our house. Our landlord took this up with him, which made him furious and he came to our house to yell at us for not taking out the trash cans he was filling up with his trash. He claims we are attracting rats and causing him some kind of nuisance. He also denied dumping the mattress although it was certainly him. We could not get this man off our porch. He showed up in army fatigues and wouldn't stop arguing and trying to show us photos of someone he hires to do his trash taking out our trash cans (filled with his trash) like we are supposed to be responsible for it. Ultimately, he was pissed at us because he got called out for being a scummy trash dumper. After about 30 minutes we just had to shut the door on him. That happened a few weeks ago and since then we have removed all the trash cans except one which is used by the other duplex unit (it's an AirBnB so not much trash). We now keep our bins locked up in our backyard so no one can dump in them and that has been a successful solution for the past few weeks. Last night, on camera once again, two younger men in hoodies can be seen launching flaming poo in newspaper onto our front porch and starting a small fire which I put out after our neighbor came over quickly to let us know about the fire! This is arson as far as we know and our landlord is filing a police report. I'm now afraid to be at my house and the video isn't much help in identifying the perps because their faces are not visible. Any advice? We don't know what to do about this or if we can prove "Alan" is involved. [link] [comments] |
Mother refusing to give me important documents Posted: 26 Oct 2018 08:53 AM PDT Looking for advice on reddit because Im not sure what my options are here. I recently moved out of my mothers house and got engaged. Shes somewhat overbearing and wasn't happy with me moving on with my life and being independent. It was convenient for her to have me around to fix things and what not and she took me moving out very personal. I need to get a passport for my honeymoon in April 2019 but my mother is refusing to give me my Birth Certificate, Social Security Card or any other important documents that Ill need in the future. Shes saying if I try to come to her house she'll call the cops or sue me. What are my options here? If I call the non-emergency police line could one of them escort me to get my documents? Do I have any legal rights to my documents? I'd prefer not to spend money on lawsuits as I'm trying to save money for a house. Any advice anyone could give me would be very appreciated, thanks! Posted: 26 Oct 2018 10:19 AM PDT Convicted of a felony drug possession charge in Indiana when I was 19. A year later I completed my probation and the charge was reduced to a misdemeanor. I had to file a motion of sorts to get it reduced, it wasn't a contingency of the sentencing or anything. I would like to vote in Iowa now, but I'm worried about when they ask if you've been "convicted" of a felony. Technically, yes I was convicted but it has since been dropped. Do I need to fill out a restoration of rights form in Indiana to ensure that I'm not committing voter fraud? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
[WI] Husband hid camera in our bedroom to "catch me cheating". Posted: 25 Oct 2018 08:11 PM PDT I'm separated from my husband, living apart but not divorced, for a bit over a year now. He has custody of the children, and about a month ago, our youngest daughter (11) messaged me saying "dad has a whole folder of porn of you". I was aware he likely still had nude photos and some videos we'd taken together but the clips she sent me (She used a phone or tablet to video the screen while playing the file) were of me, in bed, during times he would have been at work, and from an angle that had to be a camera hidden in a cabinet in our room. I went to the police with this info, first calling Sensitive Crimes (4 days of back and forth phone calls varying from "He has the right to install cameras in his own home." to "This is at least invasion of privacy") then, after being told to do so, at the district station closest to husband's home as that's where sensitive crimes told me to go. I was blown off by the police, told a crime hadn't occurred, since the clip I showed him, which showed me getting out of bed clearly wearing nothing but a shirt "didn't show anything" (wasn't a clear front shot of my ass or pubic area, just my side). I've read up on the laws in my area and it seems that the short clip I mentioned very much violates both 942.08 and 942.09 statutes. I can't afford a lawyer (on SSI), and calls to legal aid haven't been helpful. How do I get the police to take this matter seriously, or who else can I approach to have something done about this? And for the curious, no, I wasn't cheating but if I were going to, I wouldn't have been taking guys back to my bed anyway. Sorry for any errors or whatever, talking/typing about him still gives me a lot of anxiety. [link] [comments] |
[Toronto Canada] Hit a Pedestrian a few days ago, how screwed am I? Posted: 25 Oct 2018 10:08 PM PDT This happened in Toronto, ON. Canada. On monday I was driving and was approaching an intersection to turn right. I couldn't see the pedestrian coming from the left, because a car on the left had stopped at the intersection. Police were called, and they said I was going to get 15 demerit points over this. They said the pedestrian has serious injuries and is probably paralyzed. I'm shaken up, I don't know what to do. I couldn't see him, the car was blocking the view ahead of me. I don't want to get sued. I am living paycheque to paycheque trying to support my wife and daughter. [link] [comments] |
[OH] Landlord is charging me for a maintenance service call Posted: 26 Oct 2018 08:16 AM PDT My lease is pretty standard My apartment has a natural gas furnace in the crawl space of the unit. The pilot light often goes out and the only way to access the panel is to crawl on the dirt floor underneath the furnace. Part of the reason it goes out so easily is because when it rains the crawl space floods. I made a maintenance request and the HVAC company said they would have to come back with parts and that my landlord needed to have someone drain the sitting water before they could work on it. So they send out a drain company, they go down there for a minute and say "I think it's a problem with the sump pump, we'll be back tomorrow." They never came back. The HVAC company comes back and does nothing because there is still water in the crawl space. I make a new maintenance request. By the time the drain company comes back it hasn't rained for a while so the water has receded. They say "well it's dry now so there's nothing for us to do" and leave. Days go by and nothing has been done so I make another maintenance request. My landlord emails me that the request is closed and that the work was done even though neither company did anything at all and I respond explaining the series of events. Eventually I contact the technician directly so I can have heat in my apartment and he comes out and fixes the furnace. Today I went to pay my rent on the online tenant portal and notice that there is a charge for when the drain company came that says "Maintenance pass thru - Service technician came out and found that the crawl space is not flooding and the pump that was previous installed and is working correctly." Do I have any recourse on this? The charge is $71 so not exorbitant, but I do not feel this charge should be my responsibility considering the rental agreement. I also think it's possible my landlord is being spiteful as they try to nickel and dime their tenants while doing the bare minimum and dragging their feet on doing repairs they are obligated to do. Girlfriends roomate has been logging onto her University account and telling everyone her grades. Posted: 26 Oct 2018 12:14 PM PDT Location: United States, Iowa. So posting on behalf of my girlfriend. Today she found out that her roomate and her roomates boyfriend over the last few years have been logging onto her University account and looking at her grades, emails, etc. This is a huge breach of trust and my girlfriend has no idea how they found her account password. They have been pretending to be her "friends" but she has found out they have told multiple people that they look at her grades since they have her password and make fun of her when she gets a bad grade. My girlfriend has no idea what else they have done on her school account or email. Other than obviously changing her password, what should she do to protect herself and what repercussions will they have? Edit: I should also note that she did get the names of people who they told this too and she is meeting with the dean right now. The University takes account security and will not even allow parents to have that info. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Oct 2018 08:58 AM PDT I handled the entire gap claim because I have high anxiety and I wanted to make sure it was done quick because gap claims are time sensitive. In reviewing the documents I found lots of fraudulent information (not at all the information I gave them verbally by phone) things like listing my mother in law as my spouse and stating we owned a home together and I was actually the primary buyer and she was listed as the Co-Buyer. Not something I noticed during signing. I will also mention I never even set foot in the dealership. The sales rep came to my work and rushed me through signing even though I had specifically asked for them not to come to my work. Before I get the run down for signing without reading I know I get it, I messed up. I shouldn't have trusted the sleezeball sales rep, I should have made him leave my work so I had more time to review the contract. I am sick to my stomach over it but it happened and I have to move forward and find out my options. I found out the gap provider will not pay, BECAUSE SHE DRIVES FOR UBER.. like really? That is the entire reason I "cosigned" in the first place but they didnt put uber as her income on the app they put the job she had retired from months prior to this. So guess what... she hasnt been making the payments.. I have. I refuse to let my credit get messed up as I have spent the last 10 years fixing the identity theft my own mother put upon me. I was born into and since it was my mom I never pressed charges and just fixed it the only way you can. Made my payments on all my bills on time every month, even if it meant no money for food. What are my options? Sue the dealership? Sue my mother in law? I need help, advice.. something. I am losing my sanity over this. I absolutely refuse to cosign again either. Can she as a co buyer go get a new car and roll the gap balance? Oh the gap is 11,000 by the way. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for hearing me out [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Oct 2018 07:25 PM PDT Link to original post https://www.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/comments/8fmrr8/cps_took_my_stepson/?utm_source=reddit-android Thank you to every one who gave us such good advice! My husband was approved for a public defender, and although there was no one available to be his p.d., they proceeded with court for the 30 day review. As we were sitting outside waiting for court to start, someone came up and told my husband an attorney that had just gotten out of a different hearing had been asked to do his case pro bono, and she happily agreed! The social workers all told him he was extremely lucky when they found out who his attorney was, and she has been nothing short of freaking amazing!! He was taken from his mother in April, put on a 72 hour hold, placed with his step-dads mom for a week or so but she could not handle his brother and sister as they are undisciplined, addicted to electronics, nonverbal, and the poor little babies (4 and 2) were going thru withdrawals from meth which honestly makes me sick to my stomach. He was placed in a foster care with an absolutely wonderful woman due to my husband testing positive for THC in May. We did a few supervised visits, moved to an unsupervised visit for our family reunion, and took him camping with us the next weekend. The next week, at the 90 day review in August, we were told that we could pick him up from his foster home for what they called a 'trial home visit'. His mother had not followed any of the court orders other than UAs (which she failed several of for various things), got arrested again for violating probation, got evicted, got her vehicle impounded for a "crystalline" like substance they found in her steering column when she got pulled over and she claimed wasn't hers (and surprisingly they believed her), is dating a felon with drug charges while living with her husband, and until two weeks ago, was having supervised visits at a neutral place. She is just now starting supervised in home visits, and the judge rejected unsupervised visits per the guardian ad litam's recommendation. She just started treatment 8 days ago. Her husband has cleaned up, but because they are living together as roommates, he is also doing the same kind of visitations as my husbands ex. We had court today for the 6 month review, and my husband's attorney as well as my stepsons lawyer requested reunification with a transfer of custody to my husband (they previously had 50/50 before this went down), and the judge agreed!!! So we have mister, and we spoke to a few people who have been a big part of his life to set up times to see them. We don't want to disrupt his life, we want to improve it. We hope his mom finishes her recommendations so she can be healthy and refocus on being a mom. It just wasn't being done quickly enough, and it was apparent that recovery and the case plan were not her priority. She was telling everyone she would get him back regardless as MN is a HUUUGĢEEE mother state. Proving her wrong was in misters best interest. At least for now. So thank you again for all the advice! We are sooooo happy!! TL:DR Stepson got taken from mom after she was raided for dealing and using meth and heroin, ended up in foster care temporarily and was unable to br placed with us due to hubby testing positive for THC, hubby and I tested negative repeatedly, got s.s. for trial in home placement after 90 days, got awarded full custody today after 6 months, overriding previous 50/50 custody arrangement! Eviction of mentally ill family member Posted: 26 Oct 2018 11:27 AM PDT Does anyone know how to evict a mentally ill family member who is on disability? My brother is on a section 8 housing waitlist but it could take 4 more years. He is 40yo and has explosive outbursts, depression, suicidal ideations, epilepsy and debilitating arthritis. I don't feel safe in my own home anymore. I'm a single female. I constantly walk on eggshells. He has stolen my peace and quiet. I want to kick him out, but I don't want him to be homeless. He doesn't have the knowledge or ambition to be self sufficient and find a place on his own. He has been denied several times by Dept of Mental Health. He recently threatened his counselor and psychiatrist, so he can longer be seen there, nor get his meds filled (which will make his mood even worse). Any advice is much appreciated! Posted: 26 Oct 2018 02:29 PM PDT This is in the state of Maryland, Prince George's County in the United States. I have a few neighbors who I noticed today regularly sit outside for hours on end after I get home from work. Today I noticed the mother was in tears because the bus was three hours late. She informed the this is a regular occurrence on this route. I decided to sit with her and wait for a bit and we attempted to call:
We received no response from anyone as to the location of their 6 year old child for several hours. They permanent residents that do not speak English. When the bus arrived the bus driver responded with "stop crying mam, I don't want your kid. I will bring them home eventually". The person working with the bus driver responded with "You should be telling us gracias for us bringing your kids, tell them that". When I asked what do we do if no one answers their phone call they closed the school bus door, rolled up the window and drove off. My questions are:
Thank you. [link] [comments] |
