Posted: 02 Sep 2018 03:04 PM PDT So, for starters, I'm Canadian (not sure if that effects anything), but I'm really looking to take a sum, let's say a thousand bucks, and learn from using it. I'm curious about where I should look for reliable information, what I should use for trading, and any other information I can learn. Reddit has always been my guiding force in life, so I turn to you! Thanks a million. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone think that student loans could lead to the next market crash? Posted: 01 Sep 2018 08:37 PM PDT It seems that there's too much outstanding debt and not enough jobs out there to pay them off. They are fundamentally different than the CDOs that created the 2008 crisis, student loans that are securitized are said to be high grade with low default risk. But companies like Navient ($NAVI) keep getting their bonds downgraded as they aren't paid in full at maturity. [link] [comments] |
Some brokerages prohibit frequent trading in mutual funds Posted: 02 Sep 2018 09:23 AM PDT Merrill Edge had a fit when I chose to sell some aggressive mutual funds, like BGSAX, during a market correction a few months ago. If you trade in and out of mutual funds within 3 months you get banned from trading mutual funds. I did it more than once so hello 18 month ban! Seems kinda draconian to me. If the markets tanking, you gotta go down with It? Schwab, on the other hand, allows it. They just charge a $50 transaction fee for withdrawals within 90 day's. That's fine with me.
