Getting from Concept to Profit? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:07 AM PDT If I have a concept upgrade for a product like cars. In this example adding a feature to enhance user friendliness. How do I get from there to something sellable? Since the concept is not a product but an upgrade of a product. I could dig into the tech they already use and learn the programming already there to figure out the best way to implement said upgrade in the current systems. But all that is really something the people producing the product would do best. Since they have the factories. So I'm stuck with a concept I believe will do good. [link] [comments] |
Ideas on a business that could be learned in a few months with only 1k-5k to start up with? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:59 AM PDT I've been disabled a long time but I want to get off disability and start a business. I just depend on every cent I'm getting right now to live but I think I could borrow 1k-5k with a clear plan (clearer, the more money, who knows, maybe even 30k I could borrow). Any idea's? Someone said coding, graphic design, or affiliate marketing. I don't know how to find a good product and do the entire funnel thing. I wish someone could just help me set a funnel up and give them money once it works. I just don't have any blog idea's to put ads on. Is there anything that can be set up, then I could manage it? Thank you for any idea's. I got my Bachelor's with honors in Psychology/World Religions, but autism plus a nervous system disorder stopped everything so I'm starting from nothing now. Maybe there's a way to use fivver for everything, even the web site design/graphics, and create a business all from home. Even blog posts if I don't know them. Is there a method that should work given everything goes decently well, to hire a person on fivver to do content creation, while just having to manage everything else, but putting out video content or articles I don't see anyone wanting to read that. I don't have anything to teach, I'm still learning. I just want off SSI and medicaid so I can stop having the public pay $75k a year for me. I want to work and pay all that. I wasn't raised to be a bum, but my nerve disorder came out of no where. [link] [comments] |

Feedback requested for my site Posted: 07 Jul 2018 11:58 AM PDT I've decided to open up a Shopify dropship site to learn more about ecommerce. I have put together what I think is a decent site with products from a specific niche, baby boy clothes. All the products are curated from AliExpress via Oberlo. I have setup a Facebook page which is doing ok. I am now up to 96 page likes and getting some action on my posts. I am also getting newsletter signups so there clearly is an interest. However, I am not able to get a sale so far. I have had 385 visitors this week, but not 1 sale. While I know it will take more visitors for a conversion, I just wanted some feedback on what you guys think. Most, if not all visitors are from my Facebook Ad campaigns. Posted: 07 Jul 2018 11:40 AM PDT Hi All, I'm very new to the startup game in a small country and would love to try an idea of mine out with very low capital (i.e. less than $500) I have an idea to sell gift and decor items in my country but I'm not a producer. I would wish to create a website that I can place unique items up for sale and I receive a commision when the sale is made. This wouldn't be an affiliate marketing style through the store like Amazon or Etsy but more the sales are directed to the producers account and the commision is retained. Is there any way to do this website wise? I promote and they receive a sale? Whats the best way to do this on a low budget? Can Wordpress or Shopify do this? Any help is welcomed, my first post here too! [link] [comments] |
At what point does my website become a business? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 05:28 AM PDT I'm a fullstack web developer and plan on creating a few websites over the next few years. Generally speaking, here's the order of events that each will follow
And if I do create my own business after I have multiple websites are established, can I just include these websites/apps/services in the business? At what point do I have to file taxes differently or do any legal work? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2018 01:32 PM PDT I want to start a business and I want it to be within the jewelry niche. However, I don't want to make jewelry or have my own jewelry brand, but instead I want to offer a service to several established jewelry brands. What can that service be? The only thing I can think of is marketing.... Suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2018 09:28 AM PDT Hey there, I'm Canadian and my main bank is with Scotiabank. I've also seen AMEX as an option, however, I'd like to stick with Visa or Mastercard because not everywhere accepts AMEX. As well, when I had this personal card in the past, it frequently wouldn't even authorize everywhere online even when the website accepted it. I have the "potential" of needing 5-10k a day for purchases (dropshipping) so I was looking at the ScotiaLine® for business VISA* Card but again, it needs minimum of 2 years in business. What are my viable options? All the best, Cheers! [link] [comments] |
Some question about Air Freight fees while Importing goods Posted: 07 Jul 2018 01:06 PM PDT Hello guys, I will soon start importing various goods from China, they are mainly electronic goods like sensors, microcontrollers, IR receivers, etc. The issue is that I have almost no experience with Importing/Exporting, so I have some doubts about how Air Freight companies charge you for transporting your goods. Here is my doubt: While talking to my provider in china, I asked a quote + shipping fees for 200pcs of one of their products. Immediately after I asked them also for a quote + shipping fees for 500pcs, to see if the $/piece ratio for 500pcs would be significantly better than the 200 case. These products are very small, and weigh very very little, around grams. So air transport is the best option. Now, she told me the shipping fees for 200pcs would be the SAME as for 500pcs. How can this be? Does the freight company just put my stuff inside one of their Standard Size Boxes like Amazon does, and just charge me for volume? I doubt that the freight company would be charging me for weight, because then the 500pcs fee would be much higher, and not equal to the 200pcs fee. If so, how can I know these "Standard Shipping Boxes" dimensions in order to know how many pcs of goods I can stuff in one of these boxes in order to fill up the box and maximize my $/piece ratio? Is this how air shipping works? I would be glad to hear out some comments on this, and maybe to on how air shipping generally works. Thank you guys :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2018 11:25 PM PDT I've caught the online course bug like everyone else. I'm wondering if, instead of putting my own classes on Udemy or using a platform like Teachable, if there are any software products that allow me to set up my own website where instructors submit a class and customers can buy it? How do I provide a USPS Acct# for receiving samples? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 12:48 PM PDT Hi, I need to provide a potential vendor a shipping account to receive samples (small, lightweight). We are both in California, so I want to go with the likely lowest cost - USPS. Is there a way to setup a business account with USPS, so I can provide the vendor a shipping account number? Alternatively, is there a way to prepay shipping and email them the label? I've switched my usps.com profile from personal to business, but I didn't see an account number. Also, the prepaid shipping seems to only be delivered from my address. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments] |
Criticize my cold web design email Posted: 07 Jul 2018 12:03 PM PDT Hello Redditors, I've been reading recently the famous book "How to win friends and influence people " by Dale Carnegie, I came to the part where he talks about the importance of making an eager want in others to persuade them, basically it states that most people don't give a single whoop on what you want, this makes a lot of sense to me, if you want to sell something you have to see from your customer perspective and see what they want and show them the Benefits, benefit sells, your desires do not matter . So based on that I tried to practice, I started web design freelancing recently, I've tried once but when I used to cold email for clients I sounded like the other gazillion spammy emails . This time I tried to come up with a cold pitch using Dale's advice and see, here's my cold email pitch for offering web design for beauty salons in France (It will be in french later)
Do you think it's good and not spammy ? does it sound like a human ? is it harsh a bit ? Please let me know as a business owner what do you think [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jul 2018 07:23 AM PDT I'd also need to somehow detect positions of the people, send it too. Is there some legal reason such toys dont network together while flying, or dont hook to computers if they do? I need some flying internet balls. [link] [comments] |
Can I figure out my target customer by using Facebook ads? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:59 AM PDT Hi all - software dev taking the plunge right now. I've decided that people might want to buy a water resistant oven mitt (wet oven mitts tend to cause steam burns). I gathered maybe other people have had this problem, so I want to test if the concept has any demand whatsoever. The types of campaigns I'm considering at the moment are: Brand Awareness, Reach, Lead Generation, and Conversion. I'm running two campaigns to test the waters: Brand Awareness and Reach. I've gotten one click total after spending four dollars on each; out of naivety, I sort of expected more. The ad sets are as follows: Brand Awareness - All adults in US Brand Awareness - All adults in US interested in cooking/baking Reach - All adults in US Reach - All adults in US interested in cooking/baking I'm not sure what my KPIs are - the obvious choice would be sales, but I don't have any inventory, and don't plan to for at least a month or two. I have a "let me know when the mitts are ready to buy" sign-up website that the ad is going to lead to, but I'm not sure if even that is worth tracking. Currently I'm in a whirlpool of doubt - are FB ads viable for finding out whether anyone wants what I'm thinking about selling? [link] [comments] |
Fitness platform about online courses for personal trainers for an additional income source Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:03 AM PDT Hello people, a friend of mine and I want to build a platform that allows personal trainers and hobbyist to build their brand and build a second-income source while working 9-5. That being said, we would offer a search engine for local and online trainers, allow to add individual clients and develop a custom workout and nutrition plan. Otherwise, you'll be able to develop video courses and sell them on the platform for online and offline usage. The users/clients will be able to search for specific kind of trainers and find their video courses or pay extra to get an personal coach. We would like to get a feedback on this idea, so we created this brief form for you: https://goo.gl/forms/HT1Xit4zAR69Olze2 We would really appreciate your help, thanks! [link] [comments] |
How can i make money/income with a domain name? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:00 AM PDT So I have a domain name I purchased last year for a golf company that I was never able to get started. The name depending on how you look at it could imply golf or gay porn. (wasn't intentional) So my question is what can I do with this website? I have no actual site and I went through GoDaddy if that means anything. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Mixing personal and business on Reddit Posted: 07 Jul 2018 09:49 AM PDT Our business is making stuff (on YouTube). Before we turned it into a business it was so great to share the things we make online, and Reddit was one of those places. Since we've started growing and especially since we've gotten a few sponsors for our videos, Reddit has become more and more of a negative place to share the things we make. Can you guys see a way I could still share and engage with the Reddit community without being a "shill"? Is there anyone else out there where your job and your personal interests are mixed and it's hard to be on Reddit because of that? Honestly I'm leaning towards not using my account here much anymore and that might be for the best. I was really just curious to get opinions of other Entrepreneurs that are familiar with Reddit. Thanks for your time! [link] [comments] |

Amazon Merch organic search just isn't enough anymore, but here's what you can do! Posted: 07 Jul 2018 05:26 AM PDT If you've been paying attention, most of you would know that there is this little gem called "Amazon Merch", which allows you to create any T-shirt, long-sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and now even PopSockets with any graphic design you can conjure up with absolutely no upfront costs whatsoever. Amazon does all the hard work, hell, they even ship the products for you, so what could possibly go wrong right? Well, I will tell you what is and has been going wrong as of late, and that is being discovered among the too many to count other Merch sellers on Amazon. Back in the day, you could easily upload a few designs and get yourself some sales, well now that ship has sailed, and the competition is insane. Oh, and Amazon likes to play with the search results too, so there's that too. What's the solution you ask? Well creating content promoting your wares, that's the solution, and not paid content either, which you can do, but I wouldn't recommend it, because the niche is way to stuffed, and competing against the big boys and their dollars is not recommended. I suggest you create short or long form organic content on your own web based properties, let it soak into the almighty Google search engine, and before long, you should be earning yourself some decent organic traffic, and hopefully some sales as well. To end this here post, I will with a terrible amount of shame, plug my own post that I created yesterday, which essentially promotes some of my best selling Amazon Merch T-shirts. I really hope this helps, and I wish you much luck in your own Amazon merchandise selling endeavors. Oh, and one last thing, this could work for anything you sell on a third party service, weather it be Fulfillment by Amazon, or eBay, this tactic should hold true as well. This weird challenge could be the most entertaining way to get over your fear of cold calling... Posted: 07 Jul 2018 12:06 AM PDT Attention sales experts and cold-calling masters, I want to create a challenge to help us get over our fear of cold calling. So, let's do it. We need your help! I'm sure there are tons of us on this subreddit who would benefit from this. Consider me a cold call newbie...and I'm not alone. We've got phones. We've got the drive. We've got the internet at our fingertips. But, we've got no experience. (Let's define "cold calling" as any call where you're selling something...could be warm, tepid, frigid, a Hot Pocket fresh out the microwave.) A boxer trains on the bag before he spars a live human. A writer practices writing with "throwaway" writing prompts. Karate kid practiced his defensive skills by waxing on and waxing off. What kind of challenge would you pros recommend to get over the fear of calling "big, scary influencers" on the phone without...
Yes. I can hear you now. Obviously, it'll be different when we're actually trying to sell something on the phone but I think this would be great practice. Obviously, the real thing will always teach us more. But, let's try this out. We could even make this a fun Cold Call Challenge group activity. Thanks for your help! P.S. Personal story behind this: I'm a consultant who sells marketing services to small to medium sized businesses. I want to get better on the phone. I'm in the middle of a re-brand and can't/don't want to take on any clients right now. I want to build up the confidence while I have this downtime. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2018 03:17 PM PDT For you entrepreneurs (both successful and those who haven't really started yet) - What makes you more excited than anything about what you do? What makes your heart beat with excitement / happiness? What fears keep you awake at night? [link] [comments] |
What's the criteria used when following someone on Instagram to grow your page? Posted: 07 Jul 2018 02:18 AM PDT Hello everyone, N.B: There will be a lot of usage of the world "Follow", so I apologize for it, I've been up for the last 30 hours, my brain isn't functioning at high speed. I recently started a motivational insta page. I've been only using hashtags to grow my followers. However I noticed something, many have followed me, then days later unfollowed. This could be a software, but I was advised by many to follow back those follow me lest they unfollow back. But is that a good and efficient strategy? I want to build a dedicated and die-hard fanbase that want to see my content and not increase my follow count in a hollow manner. Those who follow me with the sole purpose in mind to increase their followers are not interested in my content. Or that will decrease the likelihood of doing mutual features on our pages? What is the opposite side of the argument that I'm not seeing. I admit I'm new to this, so there's definitely things that I'm not aware of. Thank for your time. Any input is appreciated.
