Anyone worked for Grainger? Sales and Selling

    Anyone worked for Grainger?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2018 08:04 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I'm currently looking for a job in South Florida and I was contacted by Grainger. I have a phone interview next week for a inside sales position.

I was wondering if anyone here worked for them and if they treat their employees well.

    Thank you,

Joining funded B2B startup as a BDR. Starting tips?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2018 02:20 AM PDT

I plan on looking at their tech stack and evaluating what software could fit in. Suggestions?

    New sales job suggestions?

Anything valuable to bring to the company?

I want to provide value and help build the team into a sales machine from the start. I'm looking at methodologies, technology, sales tools, and soft skill advice.

    Any would be much appreciated!

    Life after LO?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2018 12:24 AM PDT

Made the transition from Car sales to Consumer Direct Mortgage sales about a year ago. I can do it, fairly well, actually, but, it is not for me. I like the schedule, I like the impact I can make on people's lives, but it's a 30-60 day cycle of consistently babysitting fragile deals and I know there is better money and less stress elsewhere, but I could really use some direction with where my skillset should best be applied as it relates to where I blast out my resume.

Does this commission scheme seen fair to you?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2018 10:03 AM PDT

I'm in the UK doing recruitment in the education sector. Average placement fee is around £1700. I'm targeted at £6k monthly. Anything up to £6k = £0 commission. You get £200 for hitting £6k and then between 10-15% of anything above that depending on final numbers. Basic salary is £20k.

Another thing to consider is that I'm very happy here in terms of my relationship with my boss, levels of support etc. However I'm working late, always doing overtime which is unpaid, taking calls at home etc. It's sales, I expect this, just wondering what your thoughts are on the commission.

Another thing to consider - most clients are on 2-4 week payment terms. Combine this with people's varying notice periods etc. I did 10 placements this month, but that doesn't mean all of those cheques will arrive at the same time, which complicates everything. 10 placements doesn't mean 10 cheques coming in for the month of July.

Got VP of Sales Phone Number. How can I approach for job?

    Posted: 08 Jul 2018 09:20 AM PDT

I first got the contact of a frat brother I haven't spoken to in years and barely knew. He was happy to connect me to the VP of sales, who is also a frat brother that might not even remember me ( i wasnt really active in the fraternity).

So now I have the digits, and want to A) Ask for a job in a closing role, or any opportunity that gets me in, or B) build a relationship, pick his brain, and stay on his radar for hiring. My contact that connected me said he texted the VP introducing me last night, so assuming the VP wasnt drunk around 9PM and had his phone blown up with a bunch of text messages, he's expecting me to contact, but I want to approach him in safe way.

I didn't finish college, which is another hurdle. Currently in commercial real estate industry, but very passionate about tech sales and want to make the transition.

BTW I've emailed him a couple of weeks back with my resume and saying I wanted to discuss an opportunity with him. I also mentioned that I've heard his music before (he used to make rap songs lol not sure if I shouldve thrown that in there, but I mentioned it to him when I met him before a few years back).

Need help as a brand new sales associate

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 04:38 PM PDT

I am 17 and was just hired into a sales position at a local outdoor furniture store. We are family owned with 22 locations so we aren't super big but we aren't just a one store business either. The products we sell are expensive but the quality is great and almost always customers are happy. I want some very basic help on how to start conversation, sell the product to them, close the deal. Any help would be great including any good beginner books for selling. If you have any addition questions just let me know. Thanks.

    Thinking of going into sales

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 10:15 PM PDT

Hi everyone! So I'm about to graduate with a bachelor's in business. And I'm thinking of going into sales but have a few questions.

    1. I think I want to do b2b, but how do you get into it when they all want 2 years b2b experience. (I'm willing to work elsewhere to get sales experience but it seems they want specifically b2b)

    2. Is sales as bad as people say? The concept of it seems fun to me honestly.

    3. Any companies you suggest I can apply to or look into? (Texas preffered)

    I appreciate everyone's time

Fresh engineering graduate looking forward to go into sales engineering here, start in a small or big company?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 11:37 PM PDT

I've got a few job offers through my connections including from different sizes of companies, ranges from 1 employee (the boss himself), 20 employees, 50 employees and huge cooperate up to thousands of employees.

I am currently looking forward to join the boss (he owns a few other companies) and currently he doesn't have a single employee yet in one of his company selling controls and valves, I reckon I can directly report and meet his wide connections, would this be a good way to kick-start my sales career?

I'm in HVAC engineering industry if that helps

    ADP Apprentice

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 05:32 PM PDT

    Greetings guys,

Was wondering if anyone could give me some information about the ADP apprentice position. I'm trying to change careers into B2B sales and ADP seems like a great place to start. Just wondering the career progression from apprentice. For anyone with familiarity with this, does it transition into something else? Or is it for college students looking for experience? Can't really waste 4 months without furthering my career. Thanks.

What are goals I can set to improve myself as a Sales Engineer?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 05:45 PM PDT

I have been working at a SaaS company in San Francisco as a Sales Engineer for about a year where my previous background was doing implementations.

In the past year, I've learned to give a decent demo, discuss product questions, and do successful proof of concepts. The feedback I get most often is "Thanks, you were able to answer all my questions" when the reaction I want is "You're right, I need this product now."

I want to improve my sales skills to provide more value and less feature discussion. What are some ways you have created goals for yourself to improve?

Have you heard of anyone getting fired in SAAS sales for Mail Merging?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 03:47 PM PDT

I want to go by the saying "better to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission" and get this email campaign started Monday morning however I want to get some people's perspective on mail merging without permission. I have a number to hit and feel it's a risk I need to take. Have you heard anybody facing any trouble for mail merging without permission?

Has anybody here ever used SalesHandy?

    Posted: 07 Jul 2018 01:55 PM PDT

It seems like a good mail merge software that's pretty affordable. How does it compare to other mail merge software like Woodpecker? Are there better solutions out there that work with Outlook?
