Posted: 30 Jun 2018 06:38 AM PDT So can anyone give me the bear case for this stock assuming it goes along with the acquisition of fox? Basically the deal will enable Disney to provide a direct to consumer service with a disgusting amount of exclusive content that they know how to monetize in ways that only Disney can. They can now offer new blockbuster movies exclusively through their service and I'm wondering if even movie theaters will have to subscribe if they want to put it on their big screens. That means that Disney can now use their best assets(movies that attract audiences of all ages and backgrounds) to increase subscriber growth and it also puts them in complete control of digital advertising(basically FANG's bread and butter) on their platform which i'm sure will be in very high demand from companies with a lot of money to spend. When you add all of that up with an already successful parks and resorts business, I just don't see how they can screw this up. There is nothing really stopping them from carving out a center in the digital space and perhaps joining FANG in those high price valuations. what am i missing here? I know that they are traditionally not a tech stock and that could be a challenge for them as they enter the space, but if they acquire fox, hulu will fall into their lap, and that is not a bad start. I know im assuming everything works out in Disney's favor, but if it does, please explain to me why you would not take a chance on disney priced at 14x earnings when netflix is 234x. How to use $SPY to gauge your trades Posted: 30 Jun 2018 08:31 AM PDT I created this SPY Chart Analysis to help traders (especially new traders) to understand where the market is right now and in relationship between stocks vs the overall markets. Hopefully, it can help guide your day or swing trading better. Basically, $SPY is near bearish area and if you are taking a long trade, you want to make sure it is stronger than $SPY chart. Or if you are looking to trade short, you should choose a weaker chart in comparison to the $SPY in order to have higher success rate. Of course, there are many other factors involved in trading and most trader combine fundamental into their style. However, I preferred pure technical analysis to simplify everything and so far it is working nicely. Best of luck in all your trading and have a wonderful weekend. [link] [comments] |
Does shorting affect the price of stocks? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 03:09 AM PDT Let's say that a stock is overvalued and investors are polarized on it (Tesla). Some people invest other short. Suddenly price of stocks drops. People who were shorting now have to buy them back at a lower price. Would that raise the price? What percentage of stocks would have to be shorted for this effect to equalize the drop in price? Thank you for help:) [link] [comments] |
Can you set up a drip for only a % of dividends? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 11:00 AM PDT Just curious how drip works? Would I be able to say only devote 50% of my dividends back into drop and keep the rest in my account? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 30 Jun 2018 05:22 AM PDT Hey sup, If i buy a share, and the company goes bad or bankrupt, do i have to pay extra money? Exemple: i buy a share for 20$, is there any chance that i will have to pay extra money like a debt? Or i only lose those 20 bucks? [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on ICPT (Intercept Pharmaceuticals)? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 12:16 PM PDT Purchased it on the dip 3 days ago. Gone up 3 or 4% since. I've done well on similar stocks like IMGN but I'm not well versed in this industry. It seems like the company took a hit a few months ago due to poor results with their key drug product but it seems to have rebounded. Anyone know about this company? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:05 PM PDT Hi, I'm very new to the world of investing and am trying to learn as much as I can right now. I haven't started investing yet, as I want to know as much as I can first, one topic that has come up as I read about stocks is foreign stocks and how they tend to do things a bit differently. For instance, I'm going to use one example of a company who's stock I've been tracking just to understand this: Nintendo. Nintendo runs their stocks out of Japan. However, like a lot of Japanese companies these seem to have a weird sort of tier for stocks. They have the relatively cheaper stocks which cost anywhere from $10 - $50 and a much more expensive other tier of stock. In Nintendo's case right now their NTDOY stock is around $40 while their upper tier stock NTDOF is at $330. From what I'm reading, the lower tier stock is each worth 1/8 of an actual upper tier stock. This makes no sense to me. Why would you want 1/8 of a stock? Furthermore, if you can buy 8 of the lower tier stock for less than 1 of the upper tier stock, why would you ever buy the upper tier stock? Why do foreign companies work like this? In the case of Nintendo is it even worth it investing in a company like this at this time at these rates and how would you know when best to? How/why would you buy stock like this? I'd really appreciate some knowledge on this to help me wrap my brain around stocks like this. I've found a few other stocks work the same way and I just don't get it... [link] [comments] |
What happened to BABA this week? Posted: 30 Jun 2018 08:37 AM PDT Took a steep dive over the last week or so, down from around 202-185. Any thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:59 PM PDT I loved old google finance and google totally killed it. Here is a site few of my friends built. Check it out. snaptrade.us that combines best of old google finance and yahoo finance. It is defintely not as fast as google finance. Also site is new and they have a strange black theme :) [link] [comments] |
What has the highest Dividend Payout in $ right now? Posted: 29 Jun 2018 07:56 PM PDT Curious what stocks everyone is watching for high dividends each year, hello bag holders! [link] [comments] |
What the hell is wrong with $MU Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:03 PM PDT It's just been going downhill all the way with a company that seems to have pretty solid fundamentals. What's going on? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:06 PM PDT I've worked with a company that supports them and man if you look all around you will see construction of buildings, condos and houses everywhere, and you know what that means for Generators. [link] [comments] |
Publix Private Stocks selling concerns Posted: 29 Jun 2018 04:57 PM PDT My mother, who formally worked with Publix for over 20years, accumulated stocks with them, as an employee benefits. Here is my concern. She wants to sell those stocks back to the company (collect the value of it) and after contacting them, they told her that her private stocks will incur a 10% fee because she is younger than 59 yrs old. My understanding is her 401K can get those fees assessed, which we aren't worried about, but her private stocks are not 401K. While I wasn't home when she made that call, but will call them on Monday to clarify this, is that legal for them to do? We live in Florida and I know there is no state tax when selling stocks, but if I recall, Federal will take 5% of the money gain, but additional 10% from the company because they're treating it similar to a 401K sounds ludicrous. Is Publix legally able to do that or are they trying to screw her? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
