Need Advice. I can fly almost anywhere in the world for free. How can I legally profit from my travels?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 02:16 AM PDT

Like I said in the title traveling to and from major countries I do not have to pay. I realize how great that is and would like to take advantage of this opportunity. I have looked into becoming a courier but most companies pay for your flights and you basically get minimum wage (no need since my flights are covered) I have also looked at Airmule where they pay you for unused baggage space. Seems good but I'm thinking bigger. Any advice?

I just want to give children slowcookers 100% free, why are there so many expenses to getting legal?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:01 AM PDT

    http://www.kidsinkitchens.org/

blah, dont really care for the promotion because this isnt my money maker. I'm a 6 figure engineer that would like to teach kids low cost recipes. No charge, Im the donor.

Then the bureaucracy comes into play.

    >We cant be an LLC and a 501c3 in Michigan?

    >The 1023 form requires that we get a non profit CPA to signoff. I dont understand why we cannot do this ourselves. Engineer + masters in management. Ive taken accounting classes, no problems or confusion. It makes sense.

    >These organizations who can get us legal want to charge hundreds of dollars an hour. 200$=10 slowcookers=1 school. Every hour we spend, is 1 less school we can afford. This is insanity. But the 1023 paperwork leaves this pretty open ended. What are we paying for?

For anything we can, we want to DIY, but who has the legal monopoly/license and where must I pay them the minimum to get past this gate?

EDIT: While I'm the donor, people are very excited about this group and we need to be ready for when I no longer am the major donor or I step down.

I am a software developer, CTO and entrepreneur. I have been involved in the entire GDPR compliance process. AMA

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 12:57 PM PDT

I have the feeling that there is a lot of uncertainty in the developer and startup community, and among the US audience, regarding GDPR. I have been involved in my company's entire compliance process, from legal research, to setting up the data processing register, to educating employees, to modifying systems and processes. Maybe I can help. I have a developer and entrepreneurial background (I am the author of Passenger). Ask me anything.

Any entrepreneurs in the senior care industry?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:28 AM PDT

With 10,000 baby boomers reaching retirement age every day, senior care is without a doubt a promising industry.

Wondering who on here is in it? And what are your thoughts on the future of senior care.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for entrepreneurs) seniors are not only forgotten in real world society but also online. The market is ripe for a disruption.

Looking for tips on reaching stores

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:49 PM PDT

Hi all, I'd like some advice. I'm creating a small handheld device that will make moving (homes) easier for people.

I am still in the product development stages, however I have a manufacturer lined up to produce my device immediately.

How do I reach my key distribution streams (stores)? How do I make them accessible to me so I can make my product accessible to them and my customers?

I have 3 businesses in mind that could carry my product once it's completed and manufactured. Any help is appreciated!

I am in the process of starting a Ccorp and was wondering what the tax implications would be if started paying myself from the profits I generate ?

Will it be double taxed ? Both at the corporate level and the personal level when the Corp pays me ?

Also how would I setup up a bank account for my Ccorp ? I am planning on releasing an app and I want the in app purchases to be directed to the Ccorps bank account. Is there a special kind of bank account for this ? If you guys have any information regarding this it would be great !

We are currently manufacturing our food grade silicone products in China and would love to find a US manufacturer. Please help!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 01:40 PM PDT

It seems single colored silicone products are easy to make with injection molding but the custom teethers with multiple colors are quite a bit more difficult. There are a multitude of Chinese manufacturers that can do this but we'd love to have it made in the USA. Any ideas of who I should talk to? Thanks!

    Hello fellow entrepreneurs and wantpreneurs.

I have been running a successful dropshipping business for a year and I am planning to move to Hong Kong, to get closer to Shenzhen and have direct access to the biggest suppliers.

I would like to have some advice from people who have done something similar or have moved to HK and started a business (any business).

What kind of opportunities have you found? Obstacles? etc.

    Thanks.

Follow my journey to build a passive income service business in the relationship space. AMA!

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:56 AM PDT

TL;DR I'm creating a progression post so that you can see the ins and outs of my journey (incl. decisions and failures), and hopefully learn and be motivated from it!

    Hey self starters,

I want to give back to this amazing subreddit. I'm making this a progression post and will be detailing success and failures as I build out this business with relative transparency. Similar to fitness progression pics, I hope that this will act as a motivation driver. I'll do my best to keep it updated with important decisions and learnings!

    1. Background

So let's get started - let me tell you a bit about my business. You can either:

    • Watch the 1 minute pitch video
    • Or read this: Send A Doodle enables better sentimental communication by creating personalized hand drawn greeting cards. Tell us a memorable or funny moment you want to capture, and we will draw and ship the card to surprise and delight the recipient.

When a customer makes an order, we assign them to an artist and they work together to create a "Doodle". We then print and send the greeting card with a custom message inside to the recipient.

    2. Important things we've built so far:

Artist Pool: We need artists to draw for us, and in a scalable way. Initially, we posted on Craigslist and contacted our friends who could draw. We're still using Craigslist, as well as talking to artist agents (never knew they existed until recently). To deal with scalability, we also built out a on-boarding/training system so that the artists knew what to expect, had a reference doc, and most importantly, it helped us filter out artists who are committed vs. not.

Infrastructure: initially, while working on the MVP, we were facilitating artists and customer communication via email. This is not scalable, of course, so we started using Zendesk as a ticketing and customer <-> artist communication system. So far it's been working well.

    3. How we are doing:

We've been getting sales (around 3-4 each day) from posts on social, reddit posts, as well as AdWords. I'm targeting relationship, long distance, and occasions (mother's day, father's day, etc.) niches. I can update this section more in the future, but still calibrating with AdWords to ensure that our ROI is positive after all the testing is done. The idea right now is to test as many verticals as possible, and distill down the profitable ad profiles.

    4. Next Steps

Our next step is to focus on quality. Quality of customers and artists. As we start scaling the business, and our orders go from a few to 10+ each day, we'll need our artists' works to be consistent. Some feedback we've gotten from customers is that the examples shown on our website isn't reflective of their end result art style. This is something we're addressing as we filter out inconsistent artist and keep the high quality ones.

We're also looking to create an self-growing customer and artist base. Building out shareable content is important. We're figuring out how to encourage recipients/clients to share their experience receiving the card, as well as posting the card on social.

    5. AMA

Expect more in the coming weeks. I'll keep this thread posted on updates. Meanwhile, feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer everyone. Here's our website and would love your feedback! https://www.sendadoodle.com

    Charging for Web Design/Development

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:41 AM PDT

Doing some market research at this point in time.

Would you rather pay for a website entirely up front ($5000) and then pay a small amount for it to be hosted ($20/month) and you would also own said website? Or would you rather pay a monthly cost ($350/month) for a website including hosting and the complete website, but not own said website?

Basically, it seems like all the web design businesses in my area are solely working off the large upfront capital expense. I'm wondering if it's worth offering the ability to pay $x/month instead and not have the large upfront capital expense.

    Advice for a game developer?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 11:30 AM PDT

(This is mostly a rant because I can't get my head together.)

My name is Kayne Ruse, and I'm an independent game developer. I've released one game before to critical and commercial failure, but right now I'm building a game that -feels- like it's a real hit: Candy Raid: The Factory. I've received nothing but praise for it so far, and the few criticisms we have received are being addressed.

So... I want to release this game on Steam, but the interface is overwhelming. I feel a little overwhelmed by most things. I'm also at the half-way point in the game's development, so I suppose I should be happy about that. I have a business number, a business name and a business bank account too (paypal coming soon...), all of which I never would have done without this project. I have a game development partner, and the project is a partnership, but I've been handling the business side of everything so far. We've also contracted a composer; I have contracted people in the past, so that's nothing new for me, but it was the first time with this composer. I may have artificially limited the number of sound effects we can get, which might cost us more if we go over, but that's my mistake.

On the whole, thinking about the business side of this game is scary. We're hoping to release on October 1st, because it's a Halloween game. My thoughts are scattered. Is there anything I've missed? Anything I should know? Anything I should do? I don't know. I suppose I'm just scared of the unknown.

Specifically Instagram; does anyone know how to find out what percentage of posts are ones that users share makeup looks?

I've looked online but I haven't found specifics. Maybe I'm not using the correct search terms?

    Thanks so much!
