Employees of AT&T: how are you pitching/closing directv sales?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 10:39 AM PDT

I've been having trouble with selling directv since I've gotten hired at AT&T. Seems like every time I even mention directv to the customer it gets shut down immediately. I would like to know how you are pitching and closing the service. Thanks in advance!

    Got new job!

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 06:46 PM PDT

Thanks to the awesome advice and posts in this sub I killed my interviews and got a new job. I've been a sales consultant for AT&T the past year(got that also with advice from people here and in the discord) and now I'm moving on to do lead gen for a fintech company in Atlanta. Hopefully I'll move up to sales for them within the next 6-12 months!

No question or anything, just wanted to thank everyone for being awesome and say that I really appreciate this community.

Any recommendations on a software to keep track of all of this? we have been doing it in excel and it finally caught up to us.

What are the best industries to sell in?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 07:51 AM PDT

In your opinion, what are the "best" industries in which sell in, and why? Obviously this is a pretty broad question, and the answers would differ depending on who's doing the answering, but I'm interested to know what ya'll think.

I am thinking not only in terms of earning potential but also how engaging, dynamic, and personally rewarding it is.

Part of the reason I am asking is that I am considering pursuing a sales path again and I am exploring what industries I should look at. My last sales job was in outside sales for an industrial chemical company that sold large quantities of chemical products to factories. I loved the prospecting and account management aspects of the role, but I disliked how that particular industry worked (little customer loyalty, dishonest/shady business practices, very "transactional" customer-vendor dynamics which is tough when your company sells on product and service value.)

When do you draw the line between money earned and time spent at work?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 05:34 PM PDT

I looked at my paycheck this morning and saw where I put in over 60 hours in. This is super normal for me and I don't really mind it because my job isn't particularly taxing on my body; however, so much time at work got me thinking "is it really worth it"? Where do you draw the line between your hunt for money and your personal life taking a beating? My work ethic has me on the fast track to the top for my company and I'm justifying my time sacrificed as an investment towards not having to work as much in the future.

What are your thoughts on what you do? I know I work too much but I'm willing to do so to make it to my goal.

    Prospecting in a foreign country

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 12:25 AM PDT

Anyone have any experience selling and prospecting in a foreign country? Language barriers etc.

Getting in touch with ex-pats and English speakers seems to be the only option. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Average sales commission rates in b2b industrial equipment sales in Italy?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2018 02:33 AM PDT

My company decided to reduct my commission from %5 to %3.

I am doing the same job for five years. We trust each other. I manage the sales of an entire country for the company.Their excuse is due to economic crysis customers negotiating harder and since they don't want to lose the customers they always give in.

Anyway does anybody know the average commission rates in Italy or Europe so that I can decide whether they are being reasonable or it is just a way to tell me "we don't value you anymore."?

After a slump, the last three days I’ve had a sale a day

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 07:55 PM PDT

    Man.

The first one was a gimme and I have to smooth that over so I don't lose my sale and that's a whole 'nother story.

The second was all me. A fresh lead appt. who I showed her the value and just asked for the money after presenting prices

The one today was a surprise be back with whom I built great rapport and showed value to her before. I didn't push her too hard for the close after presenting prices and let her "think about it". Normally I shut that down with "What is there to think about?" to see what objection they might raise next

I left work floating, my confidence is just through the roof. I'm in the game

    Outside of your business/company?

I know a lot of people hate anyone who does seminars saying there are scams, and anything you want can be found online, but i believe the people here are better than /r/Entrepreneur

Who has been? Who loves going, who went but didnt like?

    • Victor Antonio
    • Grant Cardone
    • Anthony Robbins
    • Richard Branson
    • Jordan Belfort

    ADP??

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 07:29 PM PDT

I know we have some seasoned sales reps on here and I'm sure some of you guys have worked for ADP. I'm in the final stages of the interview and looking to make a decision by end of next week. The base is pretty good, $72k, with a sales training bonus of $8k, on target is in the $140k range. I'll be in the mid-market team so the sales cycle is long and training is 10 weeks. I'm also looking at a FinTech start-up selling a more transactional product, base is $60k but it seems easier to hit target which is $120k. So what should I do? What are the pros and cons of ADP? Is it hard to consistently make commission? It's a good spot to become entrenched in?

My very first sale -- selling a business partnership rather than a product. Is this cold call script good enough?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 06:18 PM PDT

    Hi,

First up -- I don't know anything about sales. I'm an entrepreneur, and this is my first cold call.

We serve an app to consumers, but need to partner with large companies to offer our service. Think Spotify -- they're aimed at consumers, but have to partner with record labels to offer their content.

I'm talking about the 'partnering with record labels' side of the business. I've read some of the great posts here, and created this very short script:

    Script:

    • Hi John, this is Frank from MyCompany. Have I caught you at a bad time?
    • (If bad time, then reorganise call for different time)
    • The reason I'm calling is because we're helping Australian cinemas increase attendance rates, and I thought you might be interested too. -wait-

    If Interested:

    • Great! I'd love to meet with you and dicuss how we can help — are you free sometime next week? Preferably Monday morning or Tuesday afternoon, if that suits you.

    If not interested:

    • Oh that's okay, I understand. If I could ask you real-quick, is this a timing issue or something else?

    Closing question:

    • One last thing — we often propose an alternative pricing model with our service. Is there anyone else who should be present, possibly from Finance or Accounting?

The company I'm targeting has someone with:

"Oversees the publicity and promotional direction as well as sponsorship, partnership agreements and events for xyz nationally"

Written their LinkedIn profile, so I figured they'd the right person.

Any thoughts? Is this a good way to get a meeting?

This is pretty important, so I'd really appreciate any comments.

    Cheers

Home Decor Industry - Inside Sales

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 09:10 PM PDT

Hey /r/Sales, I was wondering if anyone is working in the home decor industry selling B2B. This could be decor accessories, furniture, gift items, upholstery etc.

I've been working in the field for about a year now and feel as though I haven't been able to push my territories growth and capitalize on our existing accounts. I seem to just scrape by month after month with no real growth regardless of prospecting.

A lot of what I've read says that you should be selling the solution to a problem but with this industry it seems different to me. The market is extremely saturated and we are selling a style and look that tons of other companies have.

I'd love some advice on how others in this industry manage and would love to chat with anyone with experience.

Although I've been in the industry a year the only real training I've had is very basic. Call on a customer, see if they need product, try and find out about their business and see if I can close. A lot of the time I'm told I'm not buying at this time or I'm full on inventory.

How do I connect with the customer base in order to sell more product?

Any advice would be great, appreciate the help and advice. If anyone has any suggestions on material I should be reading or videos I could watch is also welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

Tips for when the decision maker doesn’t benefit personally?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 06:53 PM PDT

Anyone have any good tips for when the decision makers gain no personal benefit from your product, but their organisation and/or their clients gain a large benefit? I know in theory all the decision makers should care, but in practice many don't especially in the enterprise/government/education sectors.

Anyone have any non-obvious approaches that can be used to turn around these can't-give-a-f* leads?

Need Advice: What Company should I work for (as a young sales professional)?

    Posted: 08 Jun 2018 04:58 PM PDT

Hi r/sales- I need some advice. I have some offers for SDR roles and am unsure which to take. Just to preface, I have a lot of inbounding and out-bounding sales internship experience:

Company 1: Well known company though still private, tech is useful but may be a hard sell. Good base and commission but is solely an INBOUND lead role. Promotion takes about 9-12 months to BDR then same to AE. A handful of former sales directors from a very large enterprise software company recently took leadership positions here as well.

Company 2: Also very well known software company, it is a CLOSING SDR role with clear and quick path to promotion. Essentially you're an AE right away and learn how to close while doing a good amount of outbound and a little inbound. Also crazy good benefits.

So essentially do I work for the company doing entry level inbounding (80% of SDRs hit quota) where I can work underneath two great sales leaders, with a two promotional tract to get to AE OR work for an entry level closing role (80% of SDRs also hit quota) and learn how to close deals right away while also gaining more outbound experience. Really torn between what I should do?
