In your opinion, what is the best entry level sales job?

Also another question. Where is the best place to find these jobs?

How should I pitch a store credit card to customers?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:12 AM PDT

Our store has recently ramped up the pressure on its associates to pitch credit cards to people.

I really hate this, but I figure I need to get at least 1 a month to keep them off my back.

The customers get 25 dollars to use in store as they feel fit upon approval. The card has few redeeming qualities unless you shop at our store a ton and want the rewards points that you earn by making purchases with the card.

My question is how do I shift from talking to customers about products that I sell to pitching them a credit card naturally?

Do you recommend a shotgun method of just flat out approaching people and asking them if anyone has told them about the card until I get my card app for the month?

I will say this too. The store is making it as convenient as possible to leave the store with a card in hand. They will soon begin printing the cards onsite and the kiosk is super fast at getting the applications processed. So max 10 minutes for approval is usually the case. Should I mention how convenient it is in my pitch?

    What is a sale?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:44 AM PDT

I'm starting a new video production entity and have a former business partner who has agreed to play the role of business developer and sales for 10% of the closed contract amount. I have this lingering question of defining a "sale". If this salesperson starts the conversation with a prospective client, but I end up doing all the budgeting negotiation, sales storytelling, and contract closing myself, did this person have a sale?

There is obvious value to this person bringing a client to my door, but how do I structure commission based on the work they did?

Anyone buy tools for themselves when their boss can’t justify buying something?

I really miss TextExpander and now it's like $3/month. Anyone have experience buying a tool that their team didn't use? Did it feel like you had an ROI?

Sales jobs in the recreational cannabis industry

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:27 AM PDT

Does anyone here have experience with sales in the recreational cannabis industry in the 9 US states where it's legal? Or any connections to people who are involved in that industry?

I have no sales experience at this time, but the cannabis industry is booming in states like California and there's a lot of startups who seem to be offering sales jobs to just about anybody who can showcase their skills, as far as I can tell. I'm not seeing many degree requirements on these job postings, or even prior sales experience. That would be perfect for me at this particular time in my life.

Anyone work 7-days per week? Vacation much?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 11:31 AM PDT

We have clients/prospects/VITO's which work a lot. My sales manager's father-in-law, runs own business, works 7-days week, has vacation homes around the world but works while on vacation. I work about 10 hour days, haven't taken a solid vacation in 5 years. How far do you take your work ethic? Is burnout common? Do you still love it?

B2B sales: Need some advice on presenting to Business Owners

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 10:54 AM PDT

I sell group benefits (health/dental/disability) and would appreciate some advice from those with b2b experience. I've been in this role for about 6 months.

When I meet with owners who have a current group benefit plan, we collect information about their employees and their current plan and do a cost/benefit comparison for them.

The comparison is quite well done but the way I've been trained for the presentation is to talk for 20-40mins straight and ask the occasional "does that make sense/any questions about that section?"

I don't like the fact that after the initial small talk at the beginning, I'm talking 95% of the time.

Those of you who do demos/reviews that can take 20-45 mins to present, what do you do to keep it a two way conversation? Or am I just overthinking it?

Is Cold Calling already dead or ever will be?

Getting over the fear of cold calling while family can hear.

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 09:33 AM PDT

I'm looking into cold calling and the best way to approach it but living in a house with thin walls, I find my self getting super self conscious about whether my family can hear me making my calls and what they'll think if they hear me mess up. Which ironically, makes me mess up even more.

Just wanting to see if people have gone through this and whether they've overcome this.

Anyone else have too much free time?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 08:30 AM PDT

Ok, I get that this could come off several ways but I'm just trying to figure things out. I am in sales on a salary of 50k in Alabama. I have commission of 20% of profit. I chose this route for security verses making more during the good times at 40%. I am given leads and it's my job to take them, qualify the value of them essentially, visit them, and close them. I'm pretty young at 26. The problem is some months we get 10 a week, but for the past two months I am given about 5 a month and that equates to working from 10-4 one day a week and having 4 days off essentially. Sounds nice, but there is only so much Netflix, golf, or gaming one can do. I don't know how retired people do it set aside Bein financially independent.

Does anyone else have the same circumstance? You have a second job? How do you handle it when you are " salaried" but have a second job. Is it s conflict of interest? I was thinking about selling real estate during my free time that way I don't have to clock in and out anywhere, Incase I get a lead I can go to it or change my schedule to make it work.

As for door knocking. Been there done that. It's hard to get back into it. I know I could sell more doing it, but the company I work for prides themselves on not doing that and being one of those companies. We are the higher end company that lets them knock on the door, you research and laugh, and call us.

So what has everybody else In this situation done? I'm not complaining but I do enjoy not having to "qualify" the leads in the hot ass sun everyday.

For anyone interested, typical sales are $80-100k month, which equates to 5000 month on average. Did have a great last month sold around 400k, a very large sale of 280k got me there. That's a once a year if that sale.

What would you do with your time? Am I just wasting potential income and putting off retiring longer by being lazy.

    Thanks.

Enterprise management trainee as first job?

    Posted: 29 Jun 2018 06:17 AM PDT

So, I recently posted about getting an offer at a car dealership as a salesman. While I feel like I could've thrived, the general consensus here was It isn't a great place to get experience so I passed on the offer.

I've applied to a variety of sales jobs just trying to break into the industry after graduating, but most everything around me is looking for 4-5 years experience aside from job recruiting which I'm not very interested in. However I landed an interview with Enterprise for this upcoming week. I've heard from a few places that it's a great place to start. Just looking for opinions on this as a first job, and what kind of move do you think could be made after a year or 2 spent there?

    Thanks for any opinions!

    SMB to Enterprise

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 07:03 PM PDT

I have been a Saas inside rep for a couple of years at a large well respected company. In my role I sell to a niche small business market and have had a bit of success. I want to develop new skills to round out my abilities and feel like a good next step is getting into mid market or Enterprise. Is it better to go SMB field or try for mid or Enterprise inside? Or any other tips on climbing the ladder? Any other tips for climbing the ladder or becoming an "Expert"?

New BDR here - what are some realistic goals for my first quarter in sales?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 04:17 PM PDT

Just finished my first week. New to sales but have some work experience. My attitude going in was to be patient with results but impatient with action my first quarter as I don't have a quota. I want to learn things the right way and build from there. My coworkers are all really supportive, as is my boss. However, after completing my first week my boss made a comment about how I only have two demos scheduled and I'm supposed have 4 a week. Is he just trying to motivate me? Again, I'm new to sales, so not sure if I should be doing better or not. Seems crazy to expect me to hit the mark on my first week. I'm making calls and clearing out my leads each day. I haven't done any real prospecting because I'm still learning how to do it. Any advice you have is much appreciated. Thanks!

    Is Vector Marketing/Cutco legit?

    Posted: 28 Jun 2018 11:22 PM PDT

I just started training at Vector Marketing to sell Cutco knives, but my parents are hesitant because of stuff online saying its a scam. The pay per appointment seems good but I don't want to be dooped. Anyone else have experience with them?
