Would anyone be interested in some simple spreadsheets I use Posted: 29 Apr 2018 02:16 AM PDT I was talking to a coworker of mine at my full time job (I work at a bakery/cafe) and was telling him that I changed some minor thing on a sales spreadsheet we use daily. He was totally lost when I told him how easy it was to change, and it got me thinking that there are some people out there that aren't familiar enough with excel to format even some basic user friendly stuff that makes everyday life easier. I've been getting some simple spreadsheets together for my cleaning business I'll be opening up in a few weeks, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in some simple things I've made, like cleaning checklists that are to be filled out by hand, basic sales analytics spreadsheets, and maybe some other things too, like nightly inventory on hand count sheets and stuff. I'd be open to taking requests if anyone wanted something in particular, too, but I'm by no means a an expert at excel, and I can't guarantee I'd finish it right away. Would also love any feedback anyone has on the ones I have linked above. [link] [comments] |

About to get burned with no recourse Posted: 28 Apr 2018 04:44 PM PDT I own an estate sale company with a partner and the 2 of us do all the work. We have been partners for a year and a half and have done a sale roughly every 2 weeks since we've started the company. Thus far, we have offered our services for a 70/30 commission (majority to the homeowner) and a flat fee ($400) for boxing leftovers, arranging charity pickup and trash service (paid by them). The house we are currently having a sale in might only bring $3000-4000 in total sales ($900-1200 commission split by 2) and we have worked here for about 10 days (over 200 man hours of labor). The house and its contents are ok, nothing super expensive or special. We expected to make$6-8k in total sales but this weekend was the first gorgeous, be outside kind of weather and 3 other estate sales happening within a 1 mile radius. Painful. My question to other commission based owners is: Do you set a minimum you will be paid? How to clients react? We already turn down about half the people who call because we do a consultation at their home and they don't have enough stuff to warrant our services. We would like to put our minimum commission at $2k because we spend an average of 10-12 days in their home, then a percentage after that. This sale has the lowest total sales we've ever had, we usually average $7-15k per Sale so commissions aren't a problem. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |

Do you have any advice on renting a kiosk in Mall of America? Posted: 29 Apr 2018 12:20 AM PDT Hello, it really seems like the pace that I'm looking for. I'm just definely looking for advice on how to keep momentum going. I really feel like my sales can be hot and cold. I'm afraid of taking the plunge and getting behind. Money is the motive!!! Back office and inventory solutions Posted: 28 Apr 2018 08:17 PM PDT I own a clothing store and we have a ton of inventory and an employee shortage. The problem I have is a lack of time to do everything. Don't we all. My question is two fold. I would like to hire an offsite employee to enter all the product descriptions and barcodes accounting for size and color. Right now I just don't have the time. For example I could tell you how many of product x i have but not how many of each color and size. Ideas for that please. Second what back office work do you outsource to who and why? Reconcilations, AR, AP, payroll, ect. [link] [comments] |
How is the money of online businesses handled? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 08:21 AM PDT When a person buys a product from an online business, where exactly does that money go? The most logical answer would be a bank account, but I doubt it's that simple. One big bank account with a lot of money in it doesn't sound all that safe. For example, when someone buys something on Disney, Walmart, or Target where does that 10.95$ go? Also, how would this differ from a small online business that is just starting up? I'm a senior in high school majoring in computer science & business and have endless business ideas. [link] [comments] |

Big opportunity zero knowledge or experience Posted: 28 Apr 2018 08:43 AM PDT I've found myself in an amazing who you know position. I happen to personally know several producers and a few large purchasers of a very specific product. The purchasers currently pay $1500-$2500 more per unit than the price I can purchase the product for. That's a pretty big deal because they purchase 50- 100 units a month. O my yes it's a 100% legal in the US. I know with a bit of marketing and sales effort I could definitely find more buyers. My question is this how the heck do I handle transactions? Do I draw up a purchase agreement, take payment, keep my part and make the order? Do I make an agreement with the producer to process the order and send my portion? I did register an LLC started building a website etc. I'm just not sure how to proceed. (Edit) Thanks for responding! I should add.. I've been successfully self employed single parent for the last 12 years. The product is a hemp commodity. I have a personal connection to producers and purchasers, opposite corners of the country and I'm not on FB lol. Looking at the market I believe this opportunity exists because price is inflated by brokers, buyers know this and continually shop. There's also a bottleneck created by a purchase/sale process that is not standardized, usually a broker brokering brokers before the buyer. [link] [comments] |
Commercial Real Estate Process? Posted: 28 Apr 2018 08:52 AM PDT I'm helping my friend with her home-based soap-making business, which will outgrow the home in the next couple of years (probably something like a bakery, either furnished or not). It's probably a dumb question, but what's the process of buying or renting a place? I can think of a number of unknowns off the top of my head:
Like I said, just off the top of my head. I'm more concerned with the things I'm not thinking of. [link] [comments] |
