First reading on first-quarter GDP up 2.3%, vs 2.0% growth expected Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:52 AM PDT https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/27/first-reading-on-q1-2018-gdp.html "The U.S. economy slowed to a moderate 2.3 percent annual growth rate in the first quarter as consumer spending turned in the weakest performance in nearly five years. Still, the January-March increase was better than expected and was enough to propel growth over the past year to come close to the 3 percent goal set by the Trump administration." Thoughts on how this will affect the market? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:43 AM PDT I'm holding $1600 strike May 4 calls. I know the safe play would be to take the money today and run... But with all the positive news surrounding Amazon with the price hike, ad revenues, nfl stream, huge eps beat, etc., I can't really see it go lower on Monday. So should I hold until Monday or sell today? I've seen people post 1000% gains by holding their calls a little longer and I think this might finally be my chance! Or I lose it all... Fellow buyers of $ABBV above $110 Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:31 AM PDT What's your current plan? Could take a long time to get to that price again [link] [comments] |
Industry/Sector Diversification? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:17 PM PDT While the majority of my holdings are in total stock market index ETFs (IVV and IXUS for both domestic and international exposure), I do hold single stocks or industry specific ETFs as well, and wondered if I could get some input on my industry/sector diversification. When i first started investing, I was 100% tech, but quickly learned the importance of not having your eggs in one basket. Here's my current layout:
Thoughts? How are your portfolios laid out? I feel like I could maybe go for 1 international stock that's a long term hold, to get some more international exposure (currently entire portfolio is ~20% international). Hard to decide which industry and what to invest in. These are all long-term holds for me. [link] [comments] |
Spotify is it under or overvalued? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 11:53 AM PDT With Spotify's ER coming up we should see a big movement, but in which direction? My guess it is overvalued, Pandora has a market cap of 1.32b and Spotify has a market cap of 27.86b. What do you y'all think? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 05:47 AM PDT There has been some discussion around this stock. But I would like to know your opinion about this this stock in the long- term. In the short term the stock looks very undervalued. PE: 4,5; PEG: 0,48 etc. But I am wondering what the future holds for LG. How strong is the management group? And how the stock will perform in the long-run. [link] [comments] |
Which company will gain most benifit at 5G commercialization? Posted: 26 Apr 2018 05:27 PM PDT I am newbie in stock market. I think that so many company are relate to 5G. But I don't know what kind of company will gaim big benifit. Do you think which company is good? and why do you think so? [link] [comments] |
Any good international stock recommendations? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:44 PM PDT Due to the recent uncertainty and volatility of the us stock market, I'm looking to diversify a bit into international stocks. Any recommendations? [link] [comments] |

Investment Fund 13F market value vs. AUM Posted: 27 Apr 2018 11:56 AM PDT If an Investment fund's reported 13F market value is roughly the same as their AUM, does that mean they don't short sell? [link] [comments] |
Another morning selloff after gains? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 08:10 AM PDT Are we definitely starting to see a trend? I might be wrong and feel free to discuss, but I believe that the expectations of bad news that could potentially obliterate the market are leading investors to sell-off after any significant gains, basically turning it into a self-fulfilling propechy. Selloffs on gains lower stock prices, which leads novice investors to believe bad news is coming, which leads to more Selloffs and even lower prices. At this point, savvy investors pick up stock at a discount en masse, which leads to prices spiking, then selling off to take the gains before bad news comes, rinsing and repeating. If this is indeed the case, what can get the market out of this loop? I feel like we might need a full month of no bad news before trust sentiment kicks in again and we can go back to steadier markets. But someone still needs to break the loop, and it starts with big money, institutional investors. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 11:06 AM PDT I'm looking to open a position in one of these. I already own a large amount of FB (long). Having a tough time deciding between the two and curious to hear opinions. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
Defense stock pull back North Korea Posted: 26 Apr 2018 11:01 PM PDT Has anyone noticed the pull back in the military defense sector? Im looking to buy more LMT and RTN.. I don't believe these two countries talking will lead to anything meaningful over the long term... Thoughts?? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 06:03 AM PDT Is it really possible to predict a stock price using some math algorithm, function or even neural net? Any suggestions with links would be much appreciated dear Redditors! Personally, I have tried to read sentiments of some twits related to the NFLX stock from December 2017. Currently, I am compiling the results and trying to perform the backtest or calculate accuracy related to real changes in sentiments (twits) and its relation to NFLX stock price movements. I will post the results here soon! [link] [comments] |
Chinese car-hailing giant Didi Chuxing holds talks about an IPO Posted: 27 Apr 2018 09:03 AM PDT According to a report, Chinese ride-hailing giant, Uber's strong competitor, Didi Chuxing is holding talks about an initial public offering (IPO). The company could go public as early as the second half of 2018, the source said, but as talks are in the early stages a set date for the listing is not entirely clear. After raising $4 billion from investors including Japanese conglomerate SoftBank last year, Didi now wants to reach a valuation of between $70 and $80 billion through an IPO, reported by the source. Didi Chuxing bought Uber's business in China in 2016. After fierce competition, it's clear that Didi is the biggest platform for car-hailing so far in Chinese market. Recently, Didi said that it wants to expand its service to Taiwan. Also, Didi has expressed that it was expanding its service to Mexico, which marks the first instance of a direct expansion outside of its home market. (FuninUSA will continually report on this news) I personally look to further development of Didi. The company always comes up with smart strategies to confront the competitive market, though a group-buying website Meituan is now trying to expanding its scope of business into car-hailing service. So if Didi finally goes public, I'll try buying some shares. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 08:55 AM PDT I'm in with an average of $66. But WDC stock continues to disappoint despite good earnings and projections. I missed my opportunity to sell when it got up to $106. Shoulda taken profits there. But aside from that...what am I missing about the stock. Why is it off despite solid earnings and projections? Nothing but higher and raised price targets all around. Just wtf? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Apr 2018 07:40 AM PDT I have been watching this for a few months and I am curious what everyone's thoughts are. Moviepass cut their model to 4 movie tickets per month for 9.95 instead of its previous unlimited. At a price point of $2.50 I feel it could be worth a small position. Any discussion points? Can a generally positive earnings season (re)trigger a bullish market? Posted: 27 Apr 2018 12:04 AM PDT I only got into the game late last year, had some pretty decent gains until last month. Was considering selling everything after earnings due to the bear market, but not sure whether a relatively solid earnings across the board of the big players can turn this around? Is this possible? Simple software to backtest intraday strategies Posted: 27 Apr 2018 03:39 AM PDT I'm looking for a software to backtest intraday strategies, so I'd need many years of historical data, with 1 hour or smaller bars. I don't know about programming, so I'd need something simple. I have always used just spreadsheets to backtest strategies. A website to download historical intraday data would actually be even better (one price per hour would be already fine). Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
