Career options for someone not “officially” in sales? Posted: 07 Mar 2018 06:07 AM PST I have a solid clinical healthcare background. I progressed through the ranks having worked as a technologist with patients in large medical centers in the ER, OR, private practice with surgeons, other outpatient settings, and grew into clinical administration and management positions. Currently, I am in the insurance sector. Specifically, network development (I was ready to transition away from the clinical environment and take on a new challenge). In my current role, my main focus is contracting outpatient MRI facility owners (usually either entrepreneurs or radiologists) to join the network, providing them access to a portfolio of insurance carriers. The other aspect of my job is member/Provider retention. A large part of what I do is selling. The market that I am in is challenging because MRI owners are joining the network to receive a reduced rate from us in exchange for volume. Additionally, there is competition in the space with us being David and our competitor Goliath. I have had some success in this role so far and really, really enjoy the selling component. Creating and establishing the relationship, convincing my prospect of the value proposition, and the rush of receiving an executed agreement. I have no plans to leave my company any time soon, as I have just begun and want to develop this skill set (and the environment I'm in fosters this pretty well). So, my question is this: Has anyone with a similar background successfully transferred their skills into a sales position somewhere in the healthcare/ pharma/ med device sector? Any insight, ideas, or suggestions would be great. [link] [comments] |
Idea's for incentive programs for my sales office Posted: 07 Mar 2018 09:50 AM PST Not sure if this is against the rules of the sub but, I work as an assistant manager in a sales office and I just recently came into the role with no prior management experience and I want to make the office a fun place to work so I was wondering if anyone can suggest some ideas for sale incentives to use for my sales team. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Laid off 38 people - mortgage industry Posted: 06 Mar 2018 03:56 PM PST Curious to get feedback from my sales pros on what they are seeing in their market post "trumponomics". My company laid off approx 10% of our company today. I am a mortgage loan officer and our business has been built around refinances while rates have been low. With market movement we have to change gears and as a result had to cut a lot of staff built around our old model. Not the employees fault, it's extremely unfortunate. Anyone else seeing negative impacts to their business recently as a result of the market and economic policy? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Mar 2018 11:24 PM PST Let me clarify - I am a new salesperson, solopreneur, and want to learn. Here's what I have so far, I moved into my WeWork office space 1/15/2018. Let's call that day 1 of my business However, it was on 2/9/2018 that I decided to have a deal closed in 30 days. My first close just took place 3/6/2018 first contact was via email 2/27/2018 - 2nd contact with in-person 2/27. Follow up meeting & close 3/6/2018. {Payment received the same day}. In February, I had two micro closes, it is about 10% of the bigger close I had earlier today. How do I figure out my Cost Per Customer Acquisition? Is my sales cycle 7 days? I do not remember the total number of appointments I set, or how many calls I made, but I spent about an hour a day cold calling too. --Again I am a novice, I will increase the time cold calling as I learn and understand my funnel. What else can I do with this information? What information goes into my funnel? What information do I need to capture? I am a salesperson and want to under my sales cycle. [link] [comments] |
Psychology, understanding it and sales Posted: 06 Mar 2018 06:45 PM PST I've been serious about sales for the past three years and although I've made more money, I only recently started getting into psychology. I can't find much on google about how understanding how people think can help lead them to a buying decision, and I wonder why this is? Has anyone here looked into this at all? One of the best people I've ever seen in timeshare had some sort of of degree in psychology, nothing prestigious even, and they seemed to excel while others struggled in the same market. I market timeshare tours (intangible product/idea of getting free stuff for sitting for ninety minutes) and getting to understand how people view situations had helped a lot and I am learning more. Posted: 06 Mar 2018 03:18 PM PST I am looking for a way to connect my landline to my computer. I would prefer not to use VOIP over the internet. The quality of sound is more reliable and better on a landline and I have a good relationship with my landline provider. I would like to connect the landline to the phone and computer so I can use click to call links and then have my phone dial the number. I would prefer to be able to run a headset through either my computer or my phone but if necessary I can just use the headset connected to the phone. I have found this option: https://www.way2call.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=18 but I am wondering if there is a cheaper option available. I might also be interested in purchasing software to track analytics on the calls. I would love to hear any suggestions that can meet this criteria. Thanks in advance for reading my post! Posted: 06 Mar 2018 02:21 PM PST Hi r/sales! Lurker who is looking at an opportunity to sell raw material/chemicals to municipalities. The municipalities are currently using these chemicals so it wouldn't be a "sell me this pen I don't need" type scenario. My current role is selling specialty chemicals B2B so I'm comfortable with the technical aspect but I'm not calling on any government entities. Does anyone have experience selling to municipalities? If so, can you share some pros and cons? I appreciate any insight you might be able to provide. Thanks! [link] [comments] |

What's the best way to tell your client's you're leaving your current employer? Posted: 06 Mar 2018 12:00 PM PST Apologies if my question has already been answered but I couldn't find a related thread on this sub. Next week will be my last week at a company as I will be (happily) laid off. Normally, I would think the more notice for my clients would be better but I have a work networking function to go to on Thursday where I'll be seeing two of them, so I figured it'll be best to not bring it up to avoid speaking ill of my current employer. I was wondering if there is anything else I should say to my clients other than: -it was an absolute pleasure working with you -moving on to pursue other career opportunities -colleague _ will be able to help you in my absence -if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know as I'd be happy to help -Thanks very much and best wishes! If anyone can provide any advice that would be greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Mar 2018 05:26 PM PST I'm sort of worried she might get in trouble. But basically from what I've understand she makes most of her money on "Flips". Basically she explained it to me that customers who already have DirecTV service, get a "new account" (So they can get the current deals, etc). She also somehow qualifies people that require deposits so that they don't have to pay one. I'm pretty sure she is not using real information, or possibly using other peoples information. She is paid in CASH directly from her boss. Has anyone ever heard of this? This sounds like fraud, and the amount of money she is making is ridiculous, but how/why is DirectTV not picking up on this? Posted: 06 Mar 2018 01:01 PM PST Would appreciate some advice on how to handle the following. Selling B2B SAAS, where target is the finance department. The problem is that my background is in R&D, so while I am able to make initial contacts inside the company, they are not the people who can buy. What's the best way to get these contacts (who I often don't know but I'm sometimes able to connect with based on shared background) to make an introduction to the other department? Sometimes this has worked, but a lot of the time I do an initial call with my contact and then they gatekeep ("send it to me and I'll see if it's good") or say ("I don't think that sounds like what we need"). Do I: 1)Just write the Finance dept and namedrop the first person? 2)Write my contact an email and ask them to pass my along without setting up a call to talk to them first? 3)Talk to contacts in the first department but just ask for the intro/use their name and not go through our product with the first contact? Please let me know any key phrases or ways to frame this. Thanks a ton. [link] [comments] |
Kind of courses/keywords I should focus on to be more fluent with revenue/cost/margin concepts? Posted: 06 Mar 2018 01:42 PM PST Hello. I recently started getting into more management-related roles from analyst and I noticed that discussions heavily go around revenues, costs and margins. While I understand basic concepts and learned them from finance courses, these discussions somehow don't stick to me as well that I hope to study online or take a course. Wanted to ask if there are any suggestions how I can study/read and become more comfortable with this topic. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
