Currently making $135k/year and topped out, what sales vehicle will get me to $500k+/year OTE? Posted: 08 Mar 2018 07:45 PM PST Hi Team, I'm currently working for a F500 company in full-cycle B2B sales in San Francisco. I just wrapped up my 2017 fiscal year, finished Top 5 in the Nation (out of 250+ sales people), and will be going to Mexico for President Club for my second year in the row. While my commission is uncapped - I've definitely reached my OTE potential ($135k/year). I need a new vehicle where I can be making $500k+/year. I'm a student of the sales game. I'm a seasoned full-cycle, B2B, customer facing sales professional. For the past 4.25 years I've obliterated sales quotas. I plan on doing the same thing with my next job. My question to you all is - what sales vehicle will get me to that $500k+/year OTE? Much <3 [link] [comments] |
Do food retailers have 'pain points'? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 10:25 AM PST I started a small non-profit coffee business, we sell bagged coffee to cafes, retailers and B2C, then take the profits and lead education initiatives in the farmer's communities around Colombia. I'm relatively green in the sales game and the little instruction I do have was about figuring out clients' pain points when trying to sell. I'm having a tough time developing some good ones for retailers who sell food. Typically space on shelves is highly competitive and retailers have all the say/control. I'm trying to reach out to local independent shops with an attitude of "let me help solve your problem" like I've been taught, but I haven't really nailed a good approach. Am I doing it right? Any tips? [link] [comments] |
How would I go about hiring a sales guy for my company? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 11:45 AM PST The market is huge and competition is medium. I've been doing PPC ads so far. It's Social Media Marketing and we charge about $45/month. We're making good money right now, but I want to get into more sales. I'm working on the PPC now, but would consider hiring a sales guy. Posted: 09 Mar 2018 11:41 AM PST Anyone have any experience in B2B sporting goods? Race bicycles, mountain bikes, electric bikes, bmx bikes, etc. If so how did you break into the industry? I am trying to break into the industry in San Diego. Figured working inside sales at a high end bike shop part time is probably the best way, open to any suggestions! [link] [comments] |
Reaching out to CEO for a Job as a next step? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 11:38 AM PST Hi, everyone! Hope your Q1 is going great! A quick question of what would be appropriate in my situation. Looking for SaaS AE position, I got referred to one company, where my friend works and I had an informational interview with her, she then referred me to SDR, who, in turn, referred me to AE. So far everything has been very positive and I would love to work in this company, as product is great, virtually no churn and my role would be a mix of AE closure and bringing my own pipeline in as they still expect us to prospect. After my conversation with AE this Monday, he told me everything is great and he'll talk to SDR and team and will reach out to me by the end of the week with next steps. Now I know who is hiring and it's CEO (they don't have any director of sales or sales manager), would it be to pesky to write him an email outlining my interest in the company and that I would love to go through a formal process of hiring? Or reach out to AE? I'm a bit confused as I haven't really looked for a job before so I'm cautious not to make any bad impressions. Cheers, DY [link] [comments] |
Anyone trying to leave or has already left the sales field? Need some advice. Posted: 09 Mar 2018 03:55 AM PST Not sure if I'm in the right sub, but I'm an account manager for a beer distributor. It's my first sales job and after abiut a month, I became aware that this was definitely not the field I should be in. I have a bachelor's degree in business with about three years in purchasing, inventory management, business/marketing analysis, and obviously sales. I've applied to a countless amount of these types of jobs (minus sales) the last 9 months or so. A few interviews to show for it, but nothing else. I'm wondering what some good fields are that I could apply to that use some of the same skills I've acquired through my sales job. Any advice would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Who Do You Look Up To in Sales? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 02:31 AM PST I'm working with a new startup that teaches business skills from people who are best in their field (e.g. Learn recruitment from the VP Talent Acquisition of LinkedIn). One of the first courses we are developing is sales. I am not in sales myself, so I'm wondering: * As a sales professional, who is it you are really looking up to? * Which sales leader do you think everybody can learn from? Obviously, there are many sub fields in sales, but this course would be about the broader sales field. I'm looking forward to hear from the professionals! [link] [comments] |
How do you wait on a late appointment before you bail? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 09:35 AM PST 35 minutes and the dude walks out.... his assistant tells me he's on a conference call and they let me walk around the building and look around (what I'm going to do with the contact anyway) still a I'm embarrassed I waited so long. It does show that your time isn't worth much if your willing to wait that long.. What's your rule of thumb? [link] [comments] |
How do you track your vehicle mileage? Posted: 09 Mar 2018 09:05 AM PST Just got a company fleet vehicle and use a company card for all gas, business and personal. How do you track your business/personal miles for reporting? [link] [comments] |
Lead generating for our web development type bus. Posted: 09 Mar 2018 07:21 AM PST I myself have been doing web dev as a side-bus for what seems like forever. Last year we incorporated and want to 'take things more seriously'. I am FULL-TIME at the business, have a partner part-time, and our contractors(PHP devs, etc). We also recently got an amateur sales person whose experience is more inbound I.T. H.W. related. He can learn. But I want to put him on the right path. Historically, we have gotten work via our social circles, kijiji, referrals from past customers. We want to set up our sales mechanism/strategies so that we can get regular work and hire more staff, web dev(other than me!) My current google searches are like: 'sales methodology', 'lead generation + web dev', pretty basic/generic searches.. Web dev sales seem to me to be a pretty complex dance. There are many factors involved! It's a larger sale, takes quite a bit of time from owners/managers, risky if the end result isn't satisfactory. Increasing/getting on the SERP for 'Ottawa+web development+Custom' seems like a lengthy challenge. So where should we focus on generating leads? Ads(online, local magazine), SEO/SERP, calling local businesses. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Mar 2018 03:46 AM PST Hey everyone, I have an interview on Monday and just wanted to consult with you guys regarding salary and how to negotiate it. So, a week ago I think I fucked up. During the initial phone interview I was asked "what are you expecting in terms of base salary" and I just blurted out a number I suspect is low. I am now regretting it. For context, it's an outside sales job for an app (b2b) where I am responsible for all cold calling/canvassing/prospecting etc in a large metro in the south. It's base plus bonus/ commission. So, what is a good salary range based on the info I gave and also how can I recover from my mistake in the face to face later today? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Mar 2018 12:07 PM PST I am doing B2B SaaS sales targeting small and medium sized businesses. I am doing a cold email campaign to see if it is worth investing into a bigger launch. What time of day should I have my cold emails go out to have the best response? Also what open rate should I aim for and response rate as well? [link] [comments] |

[car sales] Going from a low volume dealership to a high volume dealership? Posted: 08 Mar 2018 07:31 PM PST So I work for a rather large automotive group right now. Lot of growth in the company, lots of success stories. However I'm in a low volume dealership in a pretty bad credit area. The top sales person did 12 last month, and 11 the month before that(also worth noting we have 21 total sales people). In the past two weeks 3 seasoned sales people(have been there for 3+ years) have left for opportunities at higher volume dealers outside the company. I've recently got an offer to work at a Very high volume dealership outside the company. They're doing about 400 a month to a our 125-150. The only problem is this company in particular doesn't have much room for advancement because it's a relatively small auto group. I personally think moving here would be a good move but my dad and brother (both managers in the business) have warned me about working for small companies. So what I'm asking for is, what is the better move? Staying in a smaller store and maybe finding growth opportunities? Or going to a bigger store and likely making more money but putting a promotion on an indefinite hold? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Mar 2018 04:45 PM PST Hey everyone, My fiancee founded a wedding vow writing service called XO Juliet (xojuliet.com). And things have been going pretty well, we were featured in a few blog posts and the biggest wedding magazine (Brides). The business has been doing relatively well and continuing to grow. Our profits are growing month over month but we are not where we want to be. We want to make sure our sales strategy is on point with wedding season around the corner. My question to you would be how should we reach our target customer besides advertising? We did a couple of Facebook Ads that had great engagement but did not result in any sales. So far, all of our services have been purchased by brides, I believe that grooms will be a huge market as well but we are struggling to reach them. We believe our prices are fair and reasonable and have been complimented by several people for it. There is only one other competitor and it was a side project for them and everyone that we have been in contact with says our service is great and unique! I strongly believe that we have solved a unique problem I just want to ensure a strong sales strategy going forward. Thanks for all the help! Love this sub by the way. [link] [comments] |
Siemens Building Technologies Account Executive Posted: 08 Mar 2018 03:48 PM PST I'm trying to find out some information about working for Siemens Building Technologies as an AE. I've searched around the internet (Glassdoor, indeed, etc.) but it seems like there's not much info about this segment of Siemens. Does anyone have any insight as to working for this segment of Siemens, OTE, and any other information that might be helpful? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Mar 2018 02:28 PM PST For about a year now. I worked for a MAJAP retailer for two years doing Commissioned Sales. After that I went to a restaurant to manage because the company was about to fail. I stayed there for three months and took a break for my mental health for another two months. I went to a Cell Phone gig for the fifth largest carrier in the nation the pay was good but the culture was not. After that I took a break again after three months. Now I've been out for about six months doing Appliance and furniture deliveries. I have a friend that wants to go to a dealership and sell cars. He wants me to come with him. I'm terrified I've been out of the game to long and especially onside ring car sales are a bit more intimidating to me than appliances or anything else the company o was with carried. Has anyone else been in this situation before? How'd you bust the slump? [link] [comments] |
Case Studies for Predictive Dialers Posted: 08 Mar 2018 11:50 AM PST Hey guys, I'm working for a tech scale up and we need to begin ramping up our outbound sales efforts. First point of call is call volume. I need to present to the stakeholders and I want to build some credibility using examples. Does anybody have any strong case studies for using a predictive dialer?
