Has anyone else become a misanthrope from working in insurance? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 11:40 AM PST I hate to say it but recently I've become rather jaded after working remotely for an agent in a different state. Like I know you're always going to have the Problem customers but these people are a different caliber of difficult that I find more exhausting mentally and I'm really beginning to feel a bit judged based on my accent(southern working for west coast clients) like in some ways I feel like I'm being talked down to and so many customers are second guessing what I'm saying even though I know What I'm doing. And it makes me really anxious and upset because I don't want them talking about me like I'm an idiot to my agent even though she knows I know what I'm doing. And just overall unrealistic expectations of customers as to what our responsibilities entail. No it's not our job to find out who your mortgage company is especially since servicing has changed and you don't even know what the new loan number is. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2022 11:56 AM PST So, my car was stolen 6 weeks ago. I signed the "total loss" paper work and signed the title over to Allstate 2 weeks ago. They sent a check to my lien holder and I'm still waiting for that to go through with them and then the remaining money goes to me. It's been 2 weeks which seems like a long time for the lien holder to still say they haven't received a check. My claim adjuster won't call me back. It's a mess. Only thing is, today I get a call from my local PD. They found my car today. One bullet hole in the window and reeks of marijuana but other than that no more additional damage. Since the title hasn't been released to Allstate yet are they going to make me keep the car now? I don't want a heavily smelling marijuana car who's had a bullet shot at it. I've signed the paperwork over to Allstate but is that not official until they get the title? [link] [comments] |
Car insurance accidentally lapsed for a few months without knowing Posted: 02 Mar 2022 11:05 PM PST I had automatic payments setup to a debit card and forgot to update billing info on my car insurance when I had to get a new one. Finally noticed it… How do I go about fixing this? Do I really have to report this to my new insurance and the DMV? [link] [comments] |
Staying on dad’s car insurance after marriage? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 09:53 PM PST I believe my father has me and my siblings under his multiple car insurance policy. After marriage do I have to have him notify the insurance company or can I stay on the policy? [link] [comments] |
Looking for advice about health insurance in the US. Posted: 02 Mar 2022 09:43 PM PST Looking for advice about health insurance in the US. (i) Intro : Hello fellow good Redditors, I'm hereby asking help on my journey to search for good health insurance in the US. I would appreciate it very much if I can get some collective help here. The two main goals for me here is to get a) specific recommendations b) tips to find good health insurance. An additional question I have is how the work insurance would handle employees requiring additional health attention. It would be really great if you go through the details, but if you aren't really in the mood to read a whole bunch of texts, feel free to jump to the section iii - conclusion/summary. (ii) Detail : To give you some background, I'm searching for temporary health insurance for me and my fiancée. We just have a little gap(1~2 months) until the start of our work - that's what we are assuming. We are both not from the US, but from different countries where public healthcare/national health insurance was mandatory, hence both of us aren't really keen on this topic and we didn't have to worry. The thing is, there are important medical conditions that MUST be taken under consideration for my fiancée. I've been very healthy my entire life so I'm not worried about myself, however, that is not the case for her- I joke with her that all the health that's supposed to be shared between her and I somehow ended up only on my side. She had an acute organ failure that brought her near death and complete vision loss which included several weeks of stay in ICU and months in a hospital. I couldn't even enter because there weren't any official documents(we aren't married yet). After everything she went through, she needs one and a half year of regular dialysis backed up with regular whole body check up. In addition to that, since her liver and kidney aren't functioning fully yet, we need to be sure that emergency situations are covered(or co-pay to some extent at least). And last but not least, back/spine checkups because her back started to ache a bit after losing so much muscle after what she went through - we are trying to prevent turning it into a chronic condition. (iii) Conclusion/Summary : To summarize… We are both non-US citizens and in our 20s. I'm in good health, but my fianceé is not. Main point - I'm looking for a good temporary health insurance which covers (or MUST cover) 1) Regular dialysis 2) Back/Spine check ups 3) Liver/kidney emergencies 4) Regular whole body check up. Would there be any specific recommendations or tips to find the best fit? Secondary point - How would work health insurance handle this? If that is not enough, I am willing to get extra health insurance for my fiancée. (iv) Additional words : We are both in STEM industries(Still searching for jobs) and we already know that our first couple of years here will be pretty hectic (but happy). That's why I'm trying to prepare before we enter that phase. But this is one thing that I really want to make it… right. And yeah, she's eventually gonna get much better so I really want to help her and accelerate that process. I acknowledge that this is probably too much to ask or write randomly online but I would personally really appreciate constructive replies/advice. And yes, I am talking to actual people around me(friends, connections) as well! I also posted this on other subreddits. Thank you very much to everyone who reached till the end. Take care as always. Type of insurance that doesn’t insure you for 0-6 months but does after ? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 08:14 PM PST Does this exist no coverage for months 0-6 but then covered months 6-12? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2022 02:55 PM PST I recently purchased a house. Within a week of moving in, the shower began leaking through the ceiling below. This came as quite a surprise, since the bathroom was fully renovated in 2015, the seller disclosed no issues, and nothing came up in the home inspection. I had some plumbers come look at it and they concluded the shower pan liner was the issue. Installing a new liner will also require ripping up and replacing the tile on the floor and the walls, which is a $10k+ job in all. I looked at my homeowners policy and was unclear on whether this would be covered, so I called State Farm. I talked to them multiple times and they assured me that I would be covered since I have the "Back-up of Sewer or Drain Endorsement." They encouraged me to file a claim. However, when the claims person reached out, he said they'd cover the water damage (which is seemingly minimal) but likely not anything involving the shower itself. So it's looking like I might be paying a $2,500 deductible to receive less than that in repairs, while also getting hit with a premium increase. The claims adjuster hasn't come out yet, so I don't know for sure whether I'm covered yet. But I feel like I am being completely scammed here. What can I do to minimize the damage at this point? My fiance and I hit a semi tire/with rim going 75 on 57 Posted: 02 Mar 2022 05:27 PM PST I was going to work at night with my fiance and I guess a semi hit a deer causing one of his tires to fly off and it was laying in the fast lane at 11 at night. I hit it and drove right over it managed to stay on the road and in my lane. But of course it destroyed the front bumper and radiator car was shaking really bad after don't know all the damages as it was towed away but I didn't have comp or collision. I have the truckers insurance policy and company I just don't know what to do next. [link] [comments] |
Hey Hi, Need help I have questions about Auto Insurance, I think I am being lied to by someone Posted: 02 Mar 2022 05:19 PM PST Michigan So I have a car that is fully in my name, last year the car was insured fully by my Dad, while I was the only main owner with my name on the car, fast forward. I put the car on storage under my own policy I have a truck insured fully in my name on a separate policy, so I then parked the car for the winter, Now I am trying to put insurance on the car through my dads policy again, I am doing this so I have a cheaper rate, cause I am 23. but my insurance agent and step mom are saying that I can not have my dad insure the car because my dad holds no ownership or ties with the car? This does not make since to me, I thought you can insure a car no matter who owns it? I just needs to be insured... [link] [comments] |
Advice for leadership team interview with Progressive! Posted: 02 Mar 2022 04:38 PM PST Is anyone familiar with insurance for non-daily drivers. I am saving for a weekend car but I won't be driving it in pretty much every season besides summer because of the weather. Is it possible to cancel/pause and resume insurance, or just purchase a "weekend car insurance"? [link] [comments] |
How much should a traveling insurance sales person make? Am I making enough compared to my peers? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 03:19 AM PST (I am posting for a friend) I live in MA, a high cost of living area. I travel all across the country selling health and wellness benefits insurance (not healthcare) about 1 - 2 weeks a month. I am a contractor, not an employee. I am retired from my day job and got into this to supplement my retirement. When I work in the field, I work 12 hr days. When I'm home, I still answer calls and I require a home office to store all the paperwork, etc. I get paid per policy I sell and I get a small commission yearly for as long as the customer keeps their policy. I have made $50k - $70k BEFORE TAXES the past couple year. The company pays for travel, rental car, and hotel. Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2022 04:05 PM PST Hey, this is my first Reddit post. I'm 21 years old living in long island NY. The automotive industry has always interested me and I'm looking to start a career in it. My dream has always been to start an autobody shop. I've done a lot of research on Reddit but have not come across a clear answer. Should I just take the NY state auto appraiser test myself, then apply to insurance companies? Or should I work for Geico as an auto damage appraiser trainee? I'm more interested in becoming an independent appraiser/adjuster. I just do not want to waste my time getting the license separately myself, then run into employment issues because I have no experience. I've heard from multiple people on Reddit that GEICO is awful to work for but they are the only ones that offer an appraising trainee position that pays $60k starting. I'm not looking to do this as a full-time career for 10+ years. I personally just want estimator experience using CCC one and other estimating software so that I'm familiar when I open my own shop. I have my associate's in Business admin btw. My main goal is to be an independent appraiser/adjuster because I like the idea of working for myself. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED [link] [comments] |
How to rent a car when I don't have car insurance? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 04:02 PM PST I have no personal vehicle, and so no car insurance. I have rented from many car rental agencies before such as Budget, Avis, SIXT, Alamo. None of them have asked me to have any kind of car insurance. Also, I have never purchased any additional damage waivers, or supplemental liability coverage as it is not required. But on this rental agreement for Alaska Rentals #9 talks about having adequate vehicle insurance coverage (quoted below). What does this mean? Further down they have the different add-on damage waivers and supplemental liability coverage that you can decline. Can someone help me understand what #9 statement means exactly and what to do if I don't have any car insurance?

Should I file another UM claim with Progressive? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 03:24 PM PST Venting bc I have really bad luck. I've been in 4 not-at fault accidents with 3 of them being uninsured. This time it's a small fender bender that costs $646 to fix. They hit me at a stop. They said they would pay out of pocket, but idk. Should I file UM even tho I have already filed 2 with them? 1 in 2019 & 1 in 2021. My deductible is $250. I just got paid out for the last one and it happened last May (policy restarted already). The last car was totaled and now I have a fender bender on the new car. My mom said our ins premium went up from last time. It might go even more up if I claim even though I didn't cause any of these accidents. I don't know the best course of action due to my history of getting hit out of nowhere. Located in Texas. Confused about rental car insurance Posted: 02 Mar 2022 09:18 AM PST Hi everyone, I'm traveling to the US Virgin Islands at the end of the month. My car insurance (Progressive) doesn't cover the USVI, and my credit card doesn't offer rental car insurance. I've looked into a couple travel insurances that offer rental car add-ons, but there's an exclusion for 4WD vehicles. Does anyone know of a travel insurance company that covers 4WD vehicles or a way to obtain insurance elsewhere? Thanks for any input! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2022 02:50 PM PST I have a one week gap between jobs (Last Monday was my last day and in a prior month; next Monday is my first day at a new employer). My understanding is I can retroactively enroll via COBRA if something comes up in the interim. If I have no severe medical needs in that week and don't pay for COBRA, are there any consequences to having the coverage gap? I'm wondering if I need to pay for a month of coverage for any reason. (Like will an insurer refuse to cover some chronic or acute care need after a one week coverage gap.) [link] [comments] |
Would hitting my annual dental maximum affect my orthodontics treatment? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 02:50 PM PST I'm about to get braces and there is a $1750 max lifetime limit, which I'm happy about. But I need a crown on my molar first. Insurance will cover just over $1k of the crown and my annual plan max is $1750. I'm wondering if hitting (or nearly hitting) my annual max will affect my braces. I know the insurance pays a monthly amount to my ortho (and I will have the braces for two years) but if I hit the max, will they stop paying my ortho? Or is ortho separate? Thanks! Truck has been under repairs for 7 months. Posted: 02 Mar 2022 10:53 AM PST Hi all, My pickup truck was rear ended while parked and needed a new frame. Other driver's insurance took full responsibility. The initial estimate quoted 14,000$ worth of repairs, and the shop told me today that they are going to charge insurance close to 29,000$. I don't have rental insurance, but the other insured does. I rented a vehicle oop and for almost 5 months I paid about 15,000$ on rental fees. I had to stop the rental because I was running out of money. I only agreed to pay oop because I was advised by both insurance companies that I would be reimbursed once the claim was finalized. From the time I stopped the rental (january 7th) to today I have been without a vehicle for 54 day. My question is: Will I have any trouble getting reimbursement for the amount I spent on the rental? Can I claim compensation for the time I didn't had a rental because I couldn't afford it? Thank you for your time! [link] [comments] |
General Liability and Errors and Omissions Posted: 02 Mar 2022 10:21 AM PST My wife and I operate an umbrella S Corp that we both worth from using DBA's underneath. Both supplying consulting and management services. Mine is IT systems architecture and hers is large scale trade shows and events. General Liability and E&O seems like what I should be looking for but is there anything else anyone would recommend or disagree with here? [link] [comments] |
Advice Requested: Ethics of life event to change/drop dental insurance after maxing out benefits Posted: 02 Mar 2022 01:57 PM PST I have health/dental insurance is through the employer. I have been on a leave of absence and have just started paying the premiums for coverage since 1/1 as I wanted to get some of the healthcare admin stuff done before coming back to work. I had an unexpected dental issue and maxed out all of my benefits (and then some) early in the year, so everything going forward will be out of pocket. Since I'm returning from leave soon, I will have a "life event" and can drop the coverage entirely as I have been double covered under my spouse (and likely on track to max out these benefits as well). Am I going to get denied future coverage at the next annual enrollment (or can something happen with the existing claims) because I paid for a couple months worth of premiums, maxed out the coverage and then dropped it? It seems silly, but I feel badly that I'm not paying a full year's premiums so that they don't lose money on me, but at the same time, why should I continue paying it? [link] [comments] |
Insurance for parents w/ health issues? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 01:57 PM PST Mom: 62F, 220lbs, Afib and breast cancer survivor. Dad: 60M, 220lbs, COPD/emphasema, skin cancer (in remission). Neither of my parents have life insurance policies and now I'm not sure if it's too late to get one for each of them considering their health histories. Do I have any insurance options that are possible to afford on a small teacher salary? I'm admittedly clueless about this. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

How does one get into WFH claims or underwriting without a 4 year degree? Posted: 02 Mar 2022 12:57 PM PST I'd like to see about expanding into underwriting or claims but I can never seem to get through a lot of applicant trackers because I don't have a 4 year degree. I have experience as an agent and am currently licensed as an agent. And it just seems to pay better. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Mar 2022 03:01 AM PST My broker isn't dealing with this. I'm not sure why. So I had to call them myself. I'm not sure what the total damage is. It flooded roughly 1 inch - 2 inches around my entire apartment (750 square feet), part of my neighbours (only around 20 sq feet was affected) and the storage room below me. I the only actual damage is my computer. My deductible is $1000. The floors in my apartment and the other are vinyl so they're going to need replacing along with the baseboards I'm not sure what to do about the computer since it was only $1400. Do I need to pay the deductible anyways? Or should i just replace the computer on my own? What kind of communication do I need to do with the insurance companies? (The building one and my own) [link] [comments] |
