4 in the last 24 hours alone.

Here's the thing: if you don't have an idea about what area you would be passionate in, or have an edge in because of skills or connections, random reddit users are not going to give you good advice.

I made my first £1000 in 2 months reselling sneakers!

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 04:50 PM PST

I started reselling exclusive sneakers a year ago but didn't take it seriously and wasn't putting in any effort - causing me to hold 3 "bricks" (hard to resell shoes)

Fast forward to 2 months ago, I got a logo from Fiverr, business cards I put into every box I resell, social media platforms with hundreds of followers each and growing, it's looking bright and, according to my tracker, I've hit my first £1000!

For growth I plan to do sourcing in my city. Sourcing is a term used in the sneaker reselling community where someone buys from one seller and sells it to buyer for profit - normally less than buying directly from the retail shop but if they do it 5-7 times a day, they could be profiting thousands a day. I will need a drivers license for this…

I'm saying this to hopefully motivate anyone reading this to finally take the plunge in whatever niece they're interested in. It can work but you must take the plunge.

Is there any online tool I can use to build a website with login for my clients?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 09:09 PM PST

Started a company that provides some services to my clients. I already have a website built with wordpress, but I also want to add a simple login interface where my clients can log in and see details of their services, past and future bookings etc. And maybe an admin interface so I can hardcode these details since we are still a small service.

So basically want an online web builder tool that also helps me build a log in service and show some simple details.

Need advice on Digitizing a Business

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 08:14 PM PST

Long story short, a friend of mine's parent who has a medium-size book reselling business recently passed away and he has to handle it all.

They have 2 local stores, an online store and they supply educational books to schools as well. They have around 20k+ SKUs but the accounts and inventory are just stored in various excel files.

We basically need to provide structure and use some software to handle the inventory and accounts in the cheapest and fastest possible way. Please advise us like what options are good and is like upgrading to a proper database system even a good idea?

Am I foolish? I have an idea to offer Facebook Ad services to small businesses that don’t have in house Marketing and do it for $200 a month plus ad spend.

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 07:52 PM PST

I work in house for a franchise group and am looking for a simple and small side hustle. My thought is there are small businesses that do not run ads simply because they don't know how or have the time to learn. I figure it would take me a few hours a month to set up and monitor their ads.

Here is the caveat… my service will only promise that ad campaigns are researched, developed, and optimized. I'm not going to sell myself as the savior of a struggling business. I will only target healthy businesses that simply need to create awareness for their business and to educate consumers about services and offers.

I'm only looking to sigh about 10 clients in total in hopes of making $2,000 extra a month.

Here is my question: are there small businesses out there who could afford to run ads and to pay a small administrative free to someone handle that?

I realize that this is not a unique idea but it seems like it cost owners an arm and a leg to hire someone to do this and I do no think it should be so expensive to have someone run your ads for you.

How can I go about legally starting a "modelling" agencies as a minor?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 10:00 PM PST

So I've decided with my current connections in the Social Media world I'm going to start an OnlyFans model management agency; I have a decent amount of contacts in the Social Media wod so getting it started is not the issue, but I have 0 clue where to begin legally. Do I need to file and make a business? How do I file taxes? And things like that.

If it helps, I'm 17 and in New York. Would appreciate any advice!

Any EiRs in the group, how has your experience been so far?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 09:52 PM PST

I'm in discussion with a couple of VCs for their EiR program, I don't see any major issues with the EiR roadmap but I just wanted to check if any of you would like to share their feedback as EiR for a VC.

How can I get about $200 from 5000 people?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 09:44 PM PST

I'm thinking about a product or idea I could sell to this amount of people. Doesn't need to be complicated, just good enough and that and that people are willing to buy.

Got inheritance and want to start a business with it, what should I be considering?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 08:13 PM PST

I've lost the last of my close family recently. Leaving me with an inheritance of about $200k. I'd like to use 1/2 to start a business. What businesses do you suggest I look into?

Background on me: I'm in a bad marriage with an emotionally abusive alcoholic. I have kids and no career left back to back years of maternity leave, then the economy put a nail in that coffin. I need a means out and want to use this inheritance to do so.

I'd like to use up to $100k to start a business and save the rest for emergency and college funds.

My previous career was a technician in media industry. I've attempted my own photography business, but it's a saturated market with most people only making part-time income levels.

I'd love to get into real estate, mostly renting. I'm in SoCal, so loans would still be necessary.

I've also considered a laundry mat. It's kid friendly when I have no daycare. I'm nota D

I've thought about buying a truck again and flipping furniture. I used to love painting cheap furniture to give to friends and family.

    What haven't I thought of??

Question about startups and competitive advantages

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 07:12 PM PST

Some startups (especially in the Fintech world) come out with a better app and better customer service as their main competitive advantage, and they are succeeding massively. Is that enough to survive as a business long-term?

Their competitive advantage can be matched by the incumbents easily. From a business perspective, how is that not an existential risk for those fintech entrepreneurs?

For example digital wallets / digital banks - I'm sure big banks have enough money and resources to create killer apps and destroy the competition coming from fintech startups. Yet many new startups are pouring into that field. How are they not afraid of that risk?

What do you guys think? I would not feel comfortable entering a market if I did not have an edge that is hard for the incumbents to replicate. Am I wrong to say that? I'm new to entrepreneurship so please share your thoughts...

    Technical co founder questions

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 03:21 PM PST

I'm in pursuit for a technical co founder. However I'm not sure how to evaluate a good cofounder since I'll be giving equity instead of cash/salary.

What are some good questions to ask and answers I should expect? Also any advice on besides questions what to look for?

Last any way for me to source a good technical co founder who would take equity?

How do I get people who are in the same page as me?

    Posted: 02 Jan 2022 06:27 PM PST

I used to sell skin care products and pandemic hit which forced me to stop. I thought why not try something in the 3D design space, so I got some of my friends and pitched the idea. They agreed and a couple months after they just quit or made excuses on why they didn't do their part. And I'd admit maybe I had some flaws or it's just not a great fit since we're all freshmen and their focusing on their courses. I mean to be honest I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but I acknowledge that it would so long to learn skills and manage stuff with my courses that's why I asked friends. Should I just go solo and grind it? Also how do you find who'd be as enthusiastic as you?
