Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:56 AM PST Hey everyone, Recently purchased a classic car and I am trying to get it insured. However all the policies I am looking at are really low mileage for my area "North Carolina" usually 6k miles a year or less. Can anyone explain to me why? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:50 AM PST Hi everyone, I'm hoping you could help me. I am a producer in the Chicagoland area and am looking for advice regarding markets in Texas. Our firm is looking to expand the number of carriers we can work with and I am wondering who the "main players" are in TX. Our agency currently has contracts with Chubb, Cincy, Travelers, PURE and Safeco. We are looking for carriers that will write for houses between $500,000-$1,000,000. Also looking in the DFW and Austin areas. Any help would be much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:46 AM PST Hi all My wife and I are hoping to try for a baby in this upcoming year. I am a full time student, and have health insurance through the school. My wife is still on her parents insurance. As a dependent, her current insurance will cover pre-natal care, but does not cover delivery. My wife could get insurance through her workplace, but we unfortunately just missed the open enrollment period. Is there any better solution for us? I looked into short term insurance plans, but they don't cover pregnancy/maternity. [link] [comments] |
Hit and Run - But I got his plate number. Posted: 27 Jan 2022 03:44 AM PST State of Virginia: Got hit by a driver having a road rage tantrum, yesterday. Side swiped me pretty good and jacked up the entirety of my driver's side. When I realized he was going to make a run for it, I called 911 and was able to get his license plate, make, and model. While an officer was filling out a police report, another went to the driver's home but, of course, he wasn't there. Since I have a case number and the police know who the driver is, can I provide that to my insurance company to have them contact the driver's insurance company? (Assuming he actually has insurance) [link] [comments] |
I hit another car while backing out and left a note Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:15 AM PST Location: USA, Ohio This morning around 5am I was backing out of my boyfriend's apartment complex and accidentally hit a car that was parked in a 'no parking zone/fire truck zone' area. It was dark out and I didn't see it and I wasn't expecting it to be there since you're not supposed to park there. People often park there even though they're not supposed to because the parking lot fills up quickly. I panicked, took pictures of the damage (their side bumper between the tire and the taillight looks pretty bad and is falling off now) and left a note. The note said "I accidentally hit your car as I was backing out, I'm so sorry! My phone number is ____" and then signed it with my full name. I noticed that the person did not have a license plate but they did have a temporary tag placed in the back window that expired over 8 months ago. The person left but never did call me. I feel horrible and guilty and also panicked. I don't know why they haven't contacted me yet. Should I go ahead and file a claim with my insurance or wait for them to contact me? I don't know how any of this works. I'm paranoid that maybe my note got wet and was unreadable (there was a little bit of snow on the car) or that it fell off or something. I'm also afraid that maybe they'll use that note down the line to say I did something I didn't because I didn't date the note. Luckily there was no damage done to my car because I only have liability insurance. Should I report the incident to the police? [link] [comments] |
Choosing comprehensive deductibles Posted: 27 Jan 2022 07:12 AM PST I have a 6 month policy with Amica for 2 cars, located in CT. Not sure which comprehensive deductibles make the most sense. $0 deductible $1140 premium $50 deductible $1131 premium $100 deductible $1117 premium $200 deductible $1105 premium $250 deductible $1105 premium I'm leaning toward taking the $0 deductible since the cost difference is pretty small, but wanted to get some thoughts/opinions first. I have a pretty healthy savings account, so coming up with the deductible wouldn't be an issue. I'm just not sure if it's worth having the smaller deductible so you don't have to come up with anything if something happens. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
choosing life insurance policies Posted: 27 Jan 2022 05:58 AM PST My fiance and I are going to be getting married later this year, and we're looking at taking out life insurance policies. We are currently renting but are planning on buying a house within the next 2 years, and also having kids. The plan is to have 2 kids. House will probably be in the $300k price range. Right now I make about $42k a year and she makes about $32k. I'm 26 and she's 21. We're not sure how much life insurance to purchase or what term to choose. What coverage amounts and term length would you all recommend? Does it make sense to start with a shorter term now and cancel/replace it in 5-10 years? Quotes from Amica, $250k coverage: Me: 10 year term - $10.19 monthly 20 year term - $12.95 monthly 30 year term - $18.47 monthly Fiance: 10 year term - $9.13 monthly 20 year term - $11.46 monthly 30 year term - $15.28 monthly Quotes from Amica, $500k coverage: Me: 10 year term - $14.01 monthly 20 year term - $19.53 monthly 30 year term - $30.56 monthly Fiance: 10 year term - $11.89 monthly 20 year term - $16.56 monthly 30 year term - $24.20 monthly By going with Amica we also get a $37 discount on our 6 month auto policy. I can also get group life insurance from my employer. This is a term life policy from Metlife that I have the option of porting to a non-group policy if I leave the company. Coverage amount can be up to 8x my annual salary. $.04 per month per $1000 of coverage under age 35 increases to $.05 age 35-39 $0.06 age 45-49 $0.13 age 50-54 .... This policy has an accelerated benefits option if I become terminally ill. I also went on term4sale.com and one of the agents that called me is offering: For me: 1. $500,000 for 30 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 30 - 30 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $28.35 per month 2. $500,000 for 35 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 35 - 35 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $35.62 per month 3. $500,000 for 40 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 40 - 40 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $44.55 per month For my fiance: 1. $250,000 for 30 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 30 - 30 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $14.65 per month 2. $250,000 for 35 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 35 - 35 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $17.47 per month 3. $250,000 for 40 years Banner Life Insurance Company OPTerm 40 - 40 Year Term / Preferred Plus Non-Tobacco $20.26 per month Thank you for your thoughts and insite! My dad died and imperium is refusing to send MetLife the documents needed for the funeral assignment Posted: 26 Jan 2022 12:05 PM PST My dad died and the insurance company is making us jump through hoops My dad died the 18th of this month and I was his beneficiary. It's tricky and his life insurance went through 2-3 different companies. I don't know shit about insurance. But anyway, I believe it was MetLife, grouplife and imperium. I filed a claim for his death the day after he died with all the insurance companies. They're not telling me if his insurance is enough to cover his funeral. Yesterday they did, but the funeral director needs it verified By the other company as well. I don't have any policy numbers. I'm not sure where my dad kept all of this info but I should still be able to access it with his social. So the woman says that yes, there is enough to cover the funeral. However imperium will not give us any information and is sending everything through mail although MetLife says that they are the ones that pay out and deal with the funeral assignment. They are sending a fucking packet in the mail that takes 7-10 business days and refuses to send the needed documents to MetLife. We have already postponed his funeral and we cannot wait any longer. I don't give a fuck about the money I just want to make sure my dad is laid to rest properly and my family doesn't have any more grief due to having to get a loan or what the fuck ever. Is there any other way that I could go about this issue? Imperium fucking sucks. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2022 07:44 PM PST I'm using Geico auto insurance and for me to get the discount to my insurance, I have to keep my location on all the time on my phone for mobile trip recording. Is progressive and other auto insurance companies the same? It's draining my battery on my phone and I'd like to turn it off. [link] [comments] |
Question about contractors liability insurance Posted: 27 Jan 2022 03:11 AM PST If a contractor or subcontractor doing residential work on my property uses cash paid " under the table " employees with no formal employment agreement and one of those workers gets hurt on the job while on my property, is it likely that their insurance would take care of the worker? cobra health insurance question Posted: 26 Jan 2022 06:32 PM PST Hey guys, I have a question about health insurance. Let me explain my situation real quick. I quit my job last Tuesday as I have a new job coming up on February 21 and I move into my apartment on February 5. I called to see if I still have/had my health insurance with my old company as the month isn't over yet. I found out that it is no longer active. I am having some complications that I have had in the past and had 2 surgeries for it. I don't want to go into details but I am 95% sure I will have to have surgery. I am going to see the doctor about it next Tuesday for him to look at it and we will go from there. I will likely be having surgery the next day, Wednesday. Should I go ahead and get cobra insurance with my old company? Would they legally be obliged to pay for my surgery even though it would only be a week of having cobra when I will have my surgery? Or is there small text in their policy that says they don't have to cover surgeries until you've had coverage for a certain amount of time (to prevent people from getting insurance when they know they need surgery)? The surgery is going to be in the 35K range if that matters. I obviously wouldn't tell them that I am about to have surgery. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2022 05:13 PM PST Hi all, I (20, M) was driving today at speed limit and someone didn't yield at an intersection, hitting the right side of my car pretty badly. We pulled over, called the police, exchanged insurance, and our license. The other driver claimed to be at fault and even told the officer he failed to yield. I'm not sure where to go from here and need advice. I called my insurance and they said to call their (over driver's) insurance and go from there. My guardian told me to find a good collision center and get an estimate and don't contact the other party's insurance as they'll cover it. Where do I go from here? Are accident estimates free and how do I tell the people at the bodyshop when they ask me to pay? Should I contact an accident lawyer? All this is confusing for me, any advice is appreciated. Thank you! Edit: I am located in Lawrenceville, GA! [link] [comments] |
Home insurance policy terminated for building a garage on my property Posted: 26 Jan 2022 07:31 PM PST Well redditors, here's my story. I own a higher end home on an acreage. I decided to build a detached garage, quite over the top, with an approximate value on the garage alone of about $500,000. I figured I better advise my insurance of this. I only thought about it after the garage was about 60% completed. The insurance company asked me why I didn't tell them before beginning, to which I responded that I didn't think of my insurance while building. They terminated my policy and told me I have 15 days to find another insurer as a "grace period". They had no interest in insuring my property any longer because of this garage. Does this sound right to you? I'm now in a panic trying to line up an insurer. I don't see the big deal. Everyone in my area has large detached garages, obviously someone is insuring them. Posted: 26 Jan 2022 04:45 PM PST I was looking for health insurance, utilizing the Health Connector for Massachusetts (mahix.org). After giving my personal information (name, address, income details), I was promptly called. I spoke to someone, who claimed to be from the "Health Enrollment Center" and quoted me on a health insurance plan appropriate for me (which was $211 + $99 sign up) I was advised on the plan's benefits. After giving him my email address, SSN, credit card number and home address, he provided me with multiple documents to sign (which I still have access to). The plan is called: Sovereign Nations Insurance I was provided an ID through FirstEnroll, which outlined the cost per month and various other disclosures. Upon further review, it notes in a paragraph called "Health Community Disclosures" that, "I must be a registered member of NARA and part of a Tribal Health Community established by Tribal Law" which I am not part of. There is a cancellation policy, and this insurance will not be billed until February 1st, 2022. However, I am concerned that this was not a legitimate method. I will be contacting Sovereign Nations Insurance center tomorrow to discuss this with them, as I am unable to log into their website using the information provided to me through this Health Enrollment Center. Has anyone dealt with this before? [link] [comments] |

Car insurance for elderly who doesn't drive Posted: 26 Jan 2022 05:28 PM PST My grandma hasn't driven for 10 years but owns a car that her son drives her to appointments with. She is paying $250 a month for liability coverage and she is listed as a driver. Is there a way for her to keep paying for the insurance but remove her self as a driver? Her son is listed as a driver on the policy as well. This is in Minnesota. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2022 12:43 PM PST I just received my renewal notice for my car insurance (Geico) and it is going up to $200 - despite nothing changing in my driving record. I managed to get it down to something a bit more reasonable by changing some things around - but still, more than I care. I realized it had been a while since I compared and found the same policy on Progressive Direct for like $580 less. That alone is enough to make me want to change, but I don't know anything about them - and have been with Geico a long time. Drive less than like 8,000 miles a year + no tickets. Only claims in last two years has been to get my battery jumped twice + 1 tow. Thoughts on Progressive? Worth it? Garbage? [link] [comments] |
Small insurance company- providers are confused Posted: 26 Jan 2022 07:15 PM PST Last fall I got a new job with a small insurance company. The insurance is based in upstate NY and I live in Florida. I obviously have health insurance through them, and it is an amazing plan. It is a PPO and has a national network, and they partner with another company to pay claims from out of state. They are such a small company, and I live out of state, so naturally none of my local providers have heard of them. I verify what providers accept my insurance (via my insurance company). The problem arises when I try to make an appointment. The providers office has never heard of my insurance, which is expected. It cannot be verified online, they have to call. I explain to them that it will be paid through a larger network, and give them the provider assistance number for my insurance company. I am CONSTANTLY getting appointments cancelled on me. They don't want to listen, they just repeat "we don't accept that insurance" over and over and over and over again. I have had many providers refuse to call to verify my insurance. If they can't look it up online they freeze and don't know what to do. Has anyone else had an experience like this? I just want to be able to go to my appointments. The insurance company will verify for me who is in network. It's these providers office and billing staff that are driving me up a wall! [link] [comments] |
Car Insurance for me and girlfriend that is moving in Posted: 26 Jan 2022 07:12 PM PST I am currently living on my own with my own car insurance for a car that I myself own. My girlfriend is in college and is currently on her parent's car insurance. She owns a car that also has her parents listed on the title. She will be moving in with me shortly. What can we do to make sure that we are both properly insured? Her insurance agent has stated that she can move out and still stay on her parent's insurance. I assume that I'll have to add her as a driver to my policy. [link] [comments] |
