Should I pay back a 2k university debt? Student Loans |
Should I pay back a 2k university debt? Posted: 21 Dec 2021 04:17 AM PST So I registered for a summer class but then decided not to take it later. I didn't make the payment and I simply thought it would be dropped. But several months later the university sent me an email asking me to pay for the tuition. I tried to explain the situation but they insisted that I should be the one dropping the class thus I owe them the debt. Yeah I'm young and I make mistakes, but now I'm facing this situation: the uni will send my account to collections and claim that it could be sent to the California Franchise Tax Board, if I don't select a payment plan by the end of the year. The question is, should I pay for this debt? The uni I owe debt to is not my main campus, and that was the only class I ever registered for, so I don't care if they ban me. If I pay back this debt, it's equivalent to throwing the money away since I get no units. But if I don't then my credit will be tarnished. Financially speaking I could pay it and survive, but that's still a big portion of my savings. [link] [comments] |
