Please use this thread to have discussions which you don't feel warrant a new post to the sub. While the Rules for posting questions on the basics of personal finance/investing topics are relaxed a little bit here, the rules against memes/spam/self-promotion/excessive rudeness/politics still apply!

Have a look at the FAQ for this subreddit before posting to see if your question is frequently asked.

Since this post does tend to get busy, consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts.

Real estate is the best vehicle for financial independence change my mind

I myself own several rental properties, I get about 15% annual cash yield (on cash invested) and a steady increase in equity. I've been on this sub Reddit a while and I can't help but notice that real estate is constantly put down as the go to vehicle to reach financial independence.

Real estate is what helped me reach fire despite my measly salary (leveraging credit at first), a lot of folk on here talk about making 150k-200k then immediately the convo goes into index funds… for those that aren't making that kind of money the little cash you have is best used leveraging credit and buying rental property . Everyone not making 200k a year should listen to this . If I'm mistaken let me know
