Dude hit my car. He was deemed at fault. Posted: 18 Nov 2021 01:54 PM PST We had to wait a few months for an appt at one of the body shops that was on the list of approved body shops for the insurance company. It just so happens the week we are going on vacation 12 hours away is the week the car will be getting fixed and we will be driving a rental that the insurance of the guy that hit us will be paying for. Will the insurance company have a problem with the distance traveled? [link] [comments] |
Renters insurance requested receipt for item that was purchase in a private sale Posted: 18 Nov 2021 06:44 AM PST GA/GEORGIA Long story short; my home was broken into. Insurance has been quick to handle my claim, but I have an item that was over the $500 threshold and was purchased in a private sale. It was a game console that I paid a premium on due to lack of availability. Insurance is requiring a receipt for this item. I have proof of ownership in the form of a video of me playing the console in my living room - but the adjuster is requesting a receipt. This was purchased private sale through an app - no receipts. The conversation between me and the seller is too old to retrieve through the App and the App customer service "cannot access" expired chat logs. I have no way to even know who the seller was at this point. I cannot even access a list of people who gave me feedback on the App or anything. Where do I go from here? [link] [comments] |
Insurance Agent Jumping to Claims Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:19 PM PST Was looking for some up-to-date info. I'm 26 years old, no degree, P&C license. I currently work for a big name, 3 letter insurance company in southern CA. The pay is amazing, but I'm slowly dying due to the hours. I've been looking to get out of sales in general and have landed an interview as a claims adjuster trainee for another company. I'd be taking a payout which is fine, but I'm curious what the environment is like? Is it all metrics and performance based for that role? Is it typically a 40 hour gig if I am excellent multi-tasker/problem solver? How are things like now that "Covid is over"? I actually have a genuine interest in the claims side of things but I guess my biggest worry is going from one metrics, boss breathing down your neck role to another. [link] [comments] |
Car Insurance total loss question Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:01 PM PST Hi, My car was totaled by insurance company(at fault's drivers) and adjuster offered x amount. I also request the reimbursement of tow and storage fees that I paid. Adjuster also agree to include "total loss" payment. We agree on an amount. The market value of the vehicle, total loss and tow/storage fees. Insurance picked up the vehicle and gave them the title. I received the check today but it's only for the market value of the vehicle, which is less than I agreed. I contacted the adjuster about this issue but hasn't respond. Do insurance usually send more than one check when dealing with property damage? Adjuster did not say anything about multiple check, only said that check will be issue . [link] [comments] |
Can a casino operator be insured against high losses in betting/gambling? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 11:42 AM PST And if so, does it make sense? Example: Someone plays the slot machine and wins $25M. Where does the money for paying out the player come from? Insurance? Balance sheet? [link] [comments] |

Dispute with insurance over compensation for damage to items that are no longer replaceable Posted: 18 Nov 2021 12:57 PM PST I was on the highway when I hit an unmarked manhole cover right after a construction zone ended where the road was graded down and the manhole cover was raised above the ground a significant amount. I contacted the construction company (which shall remain unnamed) about their negligence and am currently discussing compensation with their insurance company. I am currently looking into possible damage to my suspension, but one of my aftermarket wheels was destroyed and is no longer purchasable as it was discontinued previously and is not in stock anywhere and there are no used wheels for sale of the same type or specs. I now have 3 wheels that are worthless/useless without a fourth. When I pushed the insurance company they offered to pay out for the cost of two wheels. Do I have any grounds to keep pushing for compensation to pay for the total replacement cost of my wheels if they were still able to be purchased? Any help would be appreciated. Trying not to get screwed. I just want to be fairly compensate me for something very valuable to me that was ruined and is irreplaceable. Edit - Location: USA, OH [link] [comments] |
I don't own a car, but need insurance to drive for work. Posted: 18 Nov 2021 06:22 AM PST As the title says, I started a new job where I will be driving a company car to and from job sites. My HR person has asked me to supply proof that I have car insurance for my personal liability. Obviously the company cars have their own policy. I'm totally new to car insurance and the only option I'm seeing in my initial stabs at researching this is non-owner car insurance. Which sounds great, but everyone I've called who offers this kind of policy seems to specifically not cover work related driving. What are my options to provide proof to my HR people that I am an insured driver? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:42 PM PST I was recently rear ended by a dirt bike and he sped off. I have collision, comprehensive insurance and uninsured/underinsured on my policy. Other than the deductible, is it likely that geico will cover ? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:32 PM PST I was recently told by my family I would have to pay car insurance, it's 150 dollars a month, if I were to get my own insurance would it be cheaper, and how can I find the best option for me, as I've never looked for an insurance provider before? [link] [comments] |
Trying to get auto insurance for my partner -- a few questions Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:17 PM PST Hello. My fiancee and I just moved to Colorado and now she has to get new auto insurance. She has been on a plan with her mom, but now that we are out of state we need a new plan. I personally do not drive much or own a car right now so I have not had auto insurance since 2019. However, I will occasionally drive her car (maybe 2-3 times a month) when we are going on long trips or if I need to run to the store quick. With how little I drive it's hard to justify spending $100 a month on insurance, but as I understand it I have been driving illegally without insurance any time I've driven her car so I would like to make that right. She owns and drives the car 95% of the time. I am not a owner of the vehicle in any capacity. Does it matter if she is the policy holder as she owns the car, or could it be under my name? Would you recommend getting a standard joint insurance plan, or are there any cheaper options for someone who barely drives but wants to do so legally? Would non-owners insurance be a possible option here? Much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Declined insurance Enterprise damage claim Posted: 18 Nov 2021 03:13 PM PST Hi everyone I recently rented a car from Enterprise in Calgary, Alberta. I'm from Ontario and went there on a trip. A few days after dropping the car off after hours, I got a call from an Enterprise agent saying that the car bumper was damaged and they had to keep my deductible / charge me for the fixing. They also pressured me to file a claim with my credit card. I have pictures of the car right before I dropped it off and I was assured that the parking lot etc was safe for me to drop the car off after hours. In the pictures there is no damage to the car so I have proof I did not damage the car. I wasn't sure what to do in the moment on the call as this was the first time I've ever had a problem with a car rental. Afterwards, I sent Enterprise damage department an email detailing this and requesting proof that this damage happened while I was renting it. I also mentioned I have photos to prove the car was Undamaged. Is there anything else I can do? I noticed the charge has dropped onto my card as of a few days ago (price of rental + $300 deductible / deposit). [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:18 PM PST Today I was at a red light when all of a sudden I got hit by a car from behind, I waited a little bit to get out of the car, I checked my car and everything was okay, no damage to my car or the car that hit me, I proceed to a parking lot that was there because I was nervous, he started following me and he parked right behind me, and started recording me and my car, he kept talking to me and I told him everything was fine, he recorded my car, I was not able to take pictures of his car, we only exchanged numbers, should I be worried of him trying to claim something against me, or is there any action I should take? I am in the USA, VA [link] [comments] |
Insurance that covers business costs associated with cancellations due to weather? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:09 PM PST I work for a company that offers tours in Alaska, fishing and backcountry, however, sometimes in the fall, we have to cancel trips due to really bad weather. This isn't often. When this happens it can cost us because of the prep and running costs, and we lose anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 in profits. It seems weird a company would offer such insurance but wanted to ask the world. [link] [comments] |
windshield insurance — worth it? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 09:43 AM PST After needing to replace a couple windshields in a year due to construction everywhere, I'm thinking about getting windshield insurance. My insurer is offering a zero deductible chips/full replacement option for about $5/month. A windshield replacement for my car with calibration for the fancy safety camera thing is well over $500 (my deductible), so this would pay for itself if I needed to use it once a decade. Am I missing something here? Seems like a no-brainer. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Nov 2021 01:12 PM PST So as the title says I was slowing down, blinker on, left hand turning into my driveway(residential neighborhood 25 mph with one lane each direction) when all of a sudden I hit the rear right tire of someone's car with my front left bumper. The driver was behind me, who I did not see in my rear view mirror while turning, I'm assuming because of how fast he was driving. He tried speeding around me in the opposite oncoming lane as I was turning. His car was not damaged at all from what I could see, but I needed a brand new bumper. He got out of his car and was super aggressive, got out of refused to give insurance, told me it was me. Luckily I had a dash cam and because it was in front of my house a cctv cam that captured the entire thing. Called the police, three different cars pulled up talking to to the police on his behalf. Another car stopped, young kid probably 19, and told the police officer that this driver has almost caused multiple accidents in the neighborhood and he knew it was only a matter of time. Police deemed him at fault after showing him both videos and was cited for over taking the roadway. I have liability so my insurance wasn't much help, but I filed a claim through his or so I thought. His insurance was so terrible it took 3 complaints to BBB, 1 complaint through the state consumer bureau and three months for my car to be completed because his insurance was so hard to get ahold of with both me and my mechanic. About two weeks later, all of my stress, depression and anxiety from this bs is finally gone, no more uber eats and instacart. I get a call from my insurance, followed by a semi threatening letter from them that committing insurance fraud is a crime. He filed a Personal injury claim through my insurance My insurance is so incompetent that I had to resend them the police report and videos where he is clearly overtaking the roadway and haven't heard anything since so I'm assuming they told him to kick rocks. I am just wondering a few things because of how much time, stress and annoyance this ordeal has been I'm hoping you lovely people can help me. When digging up the police report I found the driver already had two accidents 6 months apart from each other in 2019, probably why his insurance was so sketchy because every other full coverage insurance on a (assuming) financed car was probably astronomical. I have a feeling this guy's insurance went up after my claim as well and to retaliate he tried to go after mine three months later with his claim. Could this be the case? How long does it take for car insurance to go up after an accident? What are the chances he already went in for treatments? My insurance told me when it first happened If i chose to go in for treatments I would pay out of pocket initially and then they reimburse per treatment until a settlement is reached. Could he get in trouble for committing fraud? He told my insurance company I was at fault for the accident with his recent claim. Thank you if you made it all the way down here. I needed to get this off my chest. I think it's finally over and I look forward to reading your responses. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2021 09:08 AM PST Hi from Arizona. I drive (drove) a 2002 Toyota Camry with 195k miles that's been in my family for 17 years (second owner) and was in perfect shape. It has new tires, the interior is like new, not a rip or stain to be found, and my dad and I completely rebuilt the suspension last summer (which cost $600 in parts and many hours of labor). Tuesday somebody made a left turn in front of me on the way to work. I slammed on the brakes but wasn't able to avoid the collision. Her car crushed my hood a bit and knocked out the right side of my front bumper. I drove the car home without issues, and nothing is leaking, but I have no idea how extensive the damage really is. I'm concerned her insurance is going to total the car, value it at Kelley Blue Book, and I'll be screwed car shopping with limited funds in this insane market. I am a student working a PT job. Where I live, people are selling high mileage 2002 Camrys for $3500-5000, and that's without the perfect interior, new tires, replaced suspension, and second ownership. Meanwhile, the KBB value of my car sits around $1700. I've been driving for 6 years and have 0 tickets or accidents and get an excellent rate from State Farm due to my driving habits. The person who hit me got 2 citations for the incident, has been in 2 other accidents and has AARP insurance. So my questions are: -Based on this photo showing the damage, do you think it's totaled? And is it possible to negotiate to get it NOT totaled, especially in this market? -If it's totaled, will I just get the $1700 KBB for my car, or will the current market/replacement value be a factor? -How do I avoid getting screwed over in this situation, which wasn't my fault at all? Collision insurance worth it on paid off 2006 Civic with 23,000 miles? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 12:52 PM PST I have a 2006 Honda Civic (paid off) with 23,000 miles on it. I used to only have comprehensive coverage, but am considering adding collision as due to the increase in value of used cars, and I am driving more frequently than I used to. KBB says my car is worth around $6,800 right now. I have a quote from Geico for a $500 deductible at $49 a month for collision. Is this a good deal? Any advice or thoughts appreciated, thank you. US/TX - Homeowners Insurance during leaseback period? Posted: 18 Nov 2021 04:30 AM PST We just closed on the sale of our house, and we are leasing it back for the next 30 days. I called my insurance agent to change our homeowners insurance over to renters insurance, and was told that it would actually be better for me from a contents coverage limits perspective to just leave the homeowners policy in place for the next 30 days instead of switching to renters- and that it didn't matter that we no longer owned the home that the policy was written for. Is that true? I would really hate for something to happen and then find out the policy didn't apply since we were renting the house- or conversely, to be on the hook for something major that the new owners should be responsible for if something really awful happened, like a tornado or something. Any guidance or reassurance from those more familiar with these types of policies is appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Nov 2021 06:31 AM PST A deer jumped onto my car from the hillside going down the highway yesterday. My windshield is Destroyed, top if my car bends in like a 'V', passenger side is missing a side mirror, passenger side headlight busted, and damage to passenger side door….Car is a low-end 2016 Hyundai Accent with 70,000+ miles. Does this sound like something my insurance would consider totaled or would they pay to repair? TIA [link] [comments] |
