Did I “cheat” the system? Should I tell my boss? Posted: 20 Nov 2021 07:44 AM PST Good morning sales folks. I did something on Friday in Salesforce and now that it's the weekend, the guilt is eating away and now I'm afraid what I did was considered cheating. Can someone tell me if I would be better off bringing my question to my boss, or maybe I'm just being paranoid? I am an enterprise BDR in the industrial manufacturing industry, so quotas are low but stakes are high. My goal per quarter is to set 5 appointments with my account executive, and of those 5 meetings, 3 should "convert" to high closing likelihood. I can make up to 10,000 per quarter in bonus if I get all 5 appointments and all 3 qualified opportunities. Essentially, I set an appointment with C-level executives which did end up becoming qualified. As we are in close contact with this company, additional opportunities have sprung up. Instead of one meeting = one qualified opportunity, it's now becoming one meeting = multiple qualified opportunities. I believe I should be "credited" for all of these other opportunities that are popping up because I set the initial meeting to begin with. On Friday My account exec asked me to put a new opportunity in SFDC and of course I "gave" myself the credit.here's the thing though, it counts as another "meeting" which didn't happen…there was only 1 appointment to date but now it will count as multiple Do you think I should say nothing or should I verify what I did was right with my boss? I'm afraid I mis stepped. Does anyone think [link] [comments] |
Advice? 6 figure bartender looking to get into saas without losing my financial stability. Posted: 20 Nov 2021 01:43 PM PST I'm looking for a career path I can break into and get out of bars. I make low 6 figures right now at a very high end craft cocktail lounge. My income is mainly tips, and I really hate the hours. I have an A.A. In software engineering, Sales experience, and a great track records/ references to back it up. What positions should I be applying for? 80k/year minimum work from home. Are there any certifications I should get to better my odds? [link] [comments] |
Current SDR goals are starting to drain me... Posted: 20 Nov 2021 10:28 AM PST I keep seeing posts about expected goals from everyone's company and I'm starting to think my company expectations are extremely high. They expect between 40-45 meetings set a month, with about 20 of them holding/demoing. This just doesn't seem realistic. That's about 480-540 meetings a year... what's everyone else's goals? Any tips for SDR to AE transition? Posted: 20 Nov 2021 07:41 AM PST Been with a SaaS company for about 9 months now as an SDR and just received an offer to become an AE at the company starting in January. Any tips on how to make the transition as smooth as possible these last few weeks? [link] [comments] |

What does a good BDR/AE job posting look like? Posted: 20 Nov 2021 02:24 PM PST Anyone have examples of what a good job posting looks like for an SDR or an AE? Like a link or screenshot? I want to understand how to choose a healthy gig with a good company before I think about moving on from this role. Do you choose company first based on it being an industry leader? Or can you identify a good offer based on a job posting alone? [link] [comments] |
Final Interview Tips? Have to do a 30 minute presentation for all the marbles Posted: 20 Nov 2021 10:23 AM PST Hello Reddit Sales fam I have to do a 30 minute sales presentation for all the marbles after Thanksgiving and was looking to get some tips. It's in tech sales and the presentation is entirely on PowerPoint. I can't use any slides form their webinars but I can use images from the webpage. My biggest concern is creating this slides by scratch I'm not a big google slide/powerpoint guy. Any tips? I can DM specifics if needed I don't want say too much because they may view this as cheating. [link] [comments] |
Offer details send before last round of the hiring process Posted: 20 Nov 2021 10:29 AM PST I am at the final stage of the hiring process of a large multinational. I managed to go through four rounds and within two weeks I am going to do my last round of the hiring process. In the first conversation with the recruiter, we discussed expectations in regards to compensation etc. Now they send me a potential contract while I still have to do the last round. (the compensation meets my expectations). Why would a company send a detailed potential contract before going into the final round of the hiring process? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Nov 2021 08:03 AM PST Hello r/sales community! You all have been helpful and supportive of me throughout my sales career and I've got (maybe) one last question. I have been doing B2B sales in commercial pest management for 4 years. ~500 employee firm in the Midwest, premium service and price in our market. Family owned and operated for over 100 years. I have exceeded budget every year, by 20% or more, despite also having one of the highest budgets in our company (around 35 account managers). I am making $100-150k OTE 40/40/20 salary/commission/bonus. I found out last night that my direct supervisor, our District Manager, has accepted a promotion to VP of sales. I have interviewed for and been offered DM positions in the last 2 years, but comp was not where it needed to be to justify relocation. I think this makes me the clear choice to replace my DM, if I want it. Compensation as a DM would likely be $110-130k with a 80/20 salary/bonus split. My workload would increase, but my stress of constantly having to find the next deal will be gone. DM's are not held to an incredibly high standard at my firm, maybe post losses each year and manage to keep their positions. I have management experience, but it has been about 10 years since I've been in a supervisory role. I think moving to a more ops oriented role would look great on my resume. I've never wanted to do sales for life. I am good at sales, but I've never enjoyed it aside from the big paychecks and freedom to work free of supervision. The catch is, if my numbers were to drop, the freedom AND big paychecks would both be gone. I'm also concerned that after 4 years of pounding my territory for all it's worth, I'm approaching saturation. What would you do? [link] [comments] |
When you sell something online, how do you deliver to the buyer? Posted: 20 Nov 2021 01:36 PM PST This may seem weird but I've never once known how online sellers get products to the buyers, say someone sold gloves on a website like Etsy, and someone brought a pair, how does the seller get those gloves to the buyer, is there a delivery company who comes to the seller to pick up the gloves? Does the seller post the gloves themselves? I have no idea. [link] [comments] |
[SDR] Not sure how to go about progressing a career in SaaS Posted: 20 Nov 2021 11:04 AM PST So I have 2+ years of experience and have been a SaaS SDR for 6 months now. The thing is, all I do is qualify leads coming in on chat (20-25 in a day) and assign them to an AE. That usually takes 1-2 hours at max and the rest of the time I am free. Yup- nothing to do for the rest of the 6 hours. Well, I could qualify and have a call with prospects but those are few and far between- I'd say 2-3 in a week. And before anyone asks, this isn't a flop Startup- they just got a big Series A funding and are looking to only grow and expand from here on. And no, I am not a lazy employee, I recently had my probation review and I actually got scores above what I had rated myself and the manager also talked about how they plan to make me a Sr. SDR or a Junior AE once the team expands (right now just 2 AEs and 2 SDRs). Coming to my pay- it's average. And I know I can do better. But I am really holding on to the hope that the leads will start coming in once the company grows (since mine is an inbound role) and the fact that I am one of the few who have been in the company since it was relatively small (these guys are hiring pretty fast at the moment, across all fronts). From what I read here, sales is not a walk in the park. And I know I will be better off toiling in another company in the long term since that'll equip me with the right sales acumen. I see green pastures in the form of better pay elsewhere as well. But the only reason I am holding on to this role is because the future could be big (I really want to earn big with the AE's, SDR's get peanuts as commission). It should be noted that I get NO commission for converting MQLs to SQLs (because I am basically doing very basic qualification on intercom). Nor is my commission for closing deals solo any different from closing with an AE. I would love to hear your thoughts and I appreciate all the advice you can give. :) [link] [comments] |
