    What is the best way to resign

    I have an opportunity with one of the big 3 cloud companies that I'm going to explore and am starting the first week of October. I've been with my current company for five years and have had a lot of success. I'm well respected and mentor some of my peers. My territory is very healthy and I'm definitely leaving the accounts in a better position than when I started. My biggest customer is very demanding and I have great relationships with most of their key executives, that nobody else really has. I'm dreading the conversation to announce the transition because it could get emotional.

    My manager has been dealing with a lot of employee churn this year and he is not going to be pleased about me leaving. I'm not going to a direct competitor but it's in the same ballpark. There is risk he could walk me out the door on the spot. I would like to give him the full month so I can properly transition my business but don't want to risk a month of salary. Should I wait to tell him? Should I share the details of where I'm going?

    Any other advice based on your experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Where to go after BDR?

    Hello there,

    I have been a MDR (bdr) at DocuSign for a little over a year now. While having a pretty good attainment I don´t feel like going down the AE route is the right choice (i´m eligible for promotion next month). Love talking to customers and stuff but prospecting and cold outreach really drains me.

    I thought about some other options I have; basically SE and customer success would be the viable routes from here. i have an offer from Salesforce for starting as an SE while not having applied for CS yet but there are some interesting options at Slack & Qualtrics currently that might be worth a shot.

    Feeling like I would definitely enjoy SE but what kinda bothers me is the salary while CS seems to generally be higher around here. Anyone who might have insight in both career paths willing to share some insights?

    Is Moving from reseller side to vendor side the best move?

    Whenever I try to apply to an saas sales position I always get told I have no experience selling software. Now I do have experience selling computer hardware so I'm thinking of moving to one of our vendors.

    Is this always the best move considering I can maintain contact with the reps at my current company which will help my quota?

    I'm struggling in this new BDR role and it's stressing me out. Anyone have advice they can share?

    I am 1.5 months into my role here as a BDR at my tech company. I've never done sales before in my life. I've been in numerous customer facing roles, but nothing like this. Learning the ropes is definitely something I am still learning.

    I still have trouble getting people on the phones, getting over objections, etc. Stuff people in the community have all heard and faced before. All I have to do is get the meeting and I get paid.

    For every meeting I book I get paid about $500 and it's uncapped. The potential to make A LOT of money is in front of me, but my god is it a grind.

    6 weeks into the role I finally booked my first meeting last week. With that said I don't feel happy with it. Why? It was an inbound lead so I really didn't have to grind for it. The lead already expressed interest.

    I have been on LinkedIn here and there wondering if this job is right for me and don't want to throw in the towel yet by any means, but man is this stuff difficult.

    Any advice you guys have I'm happy to take it.

    Any former Verkada employees interested in discussing their opinions here?

    Verkada is the fastest growing physical security (V)SAAS company in the industry right now. They also have a pretty high turnover rate for their AE's.

    They give you carte Blanche to give away AirPods to prospective customers, take them to wildly fancy dinners, etc. I was told the marketing budget is $10,000 a quarter by the Sales Director.

    All that being said, they have almost zero sympathy for people who miss quota.

    Curious on opinions since they seem to be sparse.

    Salesloft alternative

    I'm looking at implementing a cadanceing platform to assist with prospecting into my business. I'm pretty far down the sales process with salesloft and was wondering if there's any alternatives that may offer a considerable cost saving whilst remaining user friendly and efficient.

    Help / Organize accounts?

    I could use some help please. New org and I finally have my account list. It's a PLG (product led growth) SAAS, so I have a mix of prospects, free tier and smaller tier and enterprise tier.

    I'm tasked to work with my SDR and form a prospecting strategy. I've asked a few reps how they organize their accounts, find 8-10 roles (phone/emails) and track outreach and they all do it differently. Some use a google sheet shared with the SDR, some pull data from Salesforce into a google sheet, others just use Salesforce, others 'wing it.'

    What are your using? I'd like to make this as simple as I can organizing 50 accounts and adding 8-10 contacts and tracking 8-12 touches 😳.

    It's a bit overwhelming and I'd like to hear your suggestions.

    Tech stack: Salesforce, LinkedIn Navigator, Yesware, Gmail, G-Suite on a Mac computer.

    SDRs have Outreach, reps don't have access to it.

    Switching from Sales Ops to SDR/AE?

    I'm currently working in Sales Ops for a B2B SaaS company. I do a lot of work with Excel and our CRM tracking KPIs, Calculating compensation, forecasting for next year, creating reports / dashboards, managing sales tools. Having said that, I don't really like it. I don't like staring at numbers all day and creating presentations for management.

    I have a very good understanding of different sales tools at admin level and understand how a sales team works, how to create a sequence, even how to write emails and conduct a good call. I'm more interested in working with people and Sales seems to be a career that scratches that itch even if it can be quite difficult.

    Currently I like that Sales Ops is somewhat secure but it can be quite annoying having to clean data sets, analyse numbers etc. It's also very thankless in comparison, you do a lot of the dirty work so others have it easier.

    I'm interested in Sales as it's kind of a you do your job and reap what you sow. Something you can constantly work on improving and if you stay consistent, you can earn more too. I know I'd start off as an SDR first to get my foot in and then ideally I'd like to be an AE after a couple of years.

    Would you guys recommend it? Has anyone done this or done the opposite? I'd like to hear your opinions.

    What do I do here?

    I am applying for work for about a month now for a call center job. All companies so far has rejected me because I am under qualified because I lack experience. (No work experience besides freelance)

    I tried applying for this one company but they told me the sales department have spots that I am qualified to and if I was interested in that position. Honestly I'd like to take it since I'm desperate for a job, seems like a better alternative than working at fast food and be severely underpaid.

    The thing is. I have no absolute clue what the fuck do you do in sales. I have no experience in selling products but I do have a lot of experience with graphic design and logos.

    I have an interview soon and honestly even after watching a lot of youtube videos about telemarketing I still have no clue what to say.

    Does reddit have any advice or videos I can watch to prepare working in sales?

    Should I go through with this? I like to try it out and learn and improve my communication skills but its a little terrifying to jump into something I'm completely ignorant about.

    Career advice. 8 years in and lost

    Hey y'all,

    Some of you probably saw my post the other day about being on a Pip while still ramping.

    I've been doing a lot of soul searching and things that have always been a passing thought are more on the forefront now.

    I truly love a lot of aspects of sales, running demos, telling stories and demonstrating the impact of a product, building relationships and long term value. Being able to be someone a business can rely on when they need help with a product they've purchased.

    I've done Car sales, Email Marketing, loyalty and retention for SMB and enterprise, research and advisory.

    Where I've truly felt fulfilled was the places I had the most impact on the company and helping develop my team and also on the customer and felt that the product was actually something truly beneficial and every company needed to have it.

    I've always been into the idea of being an SE but I'm not college educated nor do I have a very technical background, tho I can learn anything.

    Even the idea of procurement or being a buyer sounds great, or even managing and SDR team cuz I really enjoy helping others develop themselves.

    Another rant from an actual piece of shit, shocking I know.

    But any advice, words of wisdom or direction for a lost sales soul would be greatly appreciated

    Is this normal? (Solar sales)

    Got hired recently in unspecified state for unspecified company. We do solar system sales and are given warm leads to drive anywhere from 30minutes to 3+ hours. Been given some leads, some have been good, but also given leads for clients that have 10k 20k or 30k houses very rurally. Houses built almost 100 years ago or very old mobile homes that might bring the value of the property itself down. Is it normal to sell a 30-80k solar system for a house that's worth less than the solar system itself? I like the compensation structure and the managers I'm working with, I'm just a little bit confused. For a long drive out, hours there and back, I feel like I could have more success knocking on doors, realistically.

    I'm not sure how the leads are generated but they seem to be cold calls asking if they want a rep to come because solar could be cheaper than their electricity bill (which is true) - however there are many answers from those I assume who are retired, have no income, live in a family house, rely on their children or government assistance, or a very small wage who probably won't qualify for a personal loan in the first place. (And then you end up talking to the wrong person if it's their children that would be paying)

    If anyone has any thoughts or advice they can share, I'd enjoy hearing it.

    First sales job, big bump in responsibility, need advice on the best way to ask for a raise

    Hi all,

    I'm in med device sales working for a distributor. First sales job and I'm 10 months in.

    Pay structure is:

    Year 1: strictly salary (~80k)

    Year 2: small bump in salary + 5% growth commission. Was told it's only 5% because I'd be assisting territory, not making/closing sales myself.

    Year 3: renegotiate depending on territory. Plan is to be 100% commission (~6% sales, + 10% on growth)

    My good problem to have is that the only territory rep selling the same product as me quit 6 weeks ago. I inherited her territory (plus maintained my prior responsibilities that she did not have).

    Big bump in responsibilities, stress, and work hours. I'm now managing ~2 million account and I'm solely responsible for growth.

    Im asking advice because I want to know the best way to ask to for a raise or to switch to a commission structure. Perhaps ideally maintain salary plus add part commission on total sales?

    I know I am in a good position with alot of leverage, but since I am new to this type of career I want to make sure I do it the right way.

    New sales job giving me about a week of training-how do I handle?

    Hi, I need some advice. I just got a new full-time job, which was a huge blessing because I've been looking for a while since the pandemic started. It's an Inbound Sales Specialist job, basically dealing with mostly inbound sales and some account management. Also some operations duties since they have no one for that yet. They wanted me to start right away-ok, no problem. It's a tiny company with maybe 6 office employees. I find out right away why they wanted me to start so soon: the person I'm replacing is leaving in one week. Once she leaves, there's really no one else to ask questions to; everything is in her brain and the boss only knows a little. I'm already overwhelmed with how much there is to learn, and I can tell they're in a bind. The problem is they're expecting me to do the impossible, which is learn how to do a job with a ton of responsibilities in a week. If I make a mistake, it could affect orders with hundreds to thousands of units. The boss told me to study over the weekend, which is super irritating because she's obviously just trying to cover her ass for not giving me enough time, so is now asking me to cram on my free time. It feels like i"m being set up for failure. My last job gave me 3 months of on-boarding, this one's giving me about one week to sink or swim. I need the money, but don't know how I'm going to pull off the impossible. Any tips?
