My manager wants to present to my client, should I let him? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 05:32 AM PDT I started in high end real estate sales a month ago and this is the first time I have to present to a client. My manager offered to present to him instead. I wanted to have my ice break sale already but I feel like if we landed this sale, I won't feel as happy as if I did it myself on the other hand, he has higher chances of securing the sale. Should I let him present? [link] [comments] |
Manager wants us to compete with each other, but be collaborative at the same time? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 09:13 AM PDT I'm currently working as a BDR in SaaS, for a startup. One problem is that the manager asks for us to share our insights with the team, but expects us to compete with each other for prizes each month. I don't understand the logic in this? If you're asking us to compete with each other, why would I share with others what makes me competitive? In our 1 on 1's, the manager will ask us if we'll beat the other person or not, and keeps track of our results relative to others. Then at the same, I'm being told to share my strategies that make me successful? I'm the top performer. I pretty much blow it out of the park. So I do find I'm targeted quite a bit. Leaving my salaried job for a commission only job Posted: 19 Sep 2021 12:05 PM PDT I (24m) am leaving my current job at the bank where i earn 60k cad salary + bonus and benefits for a company that only pays commission. I have never really had a "sales" only job. Or if i did, it didn't matter bc i had no incentive to sell. My reasoning is that I want to make more money and even if this backfires, I can always return back for a similar job in another bank after a few years. But I'm still kinda scared about making the switch. Any advice? Personal experiences? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2021 08:08 AM PDT Interesting situation. I am crushing my current sales role but there is zero room for growth or advancement. The next step up is sales manager but that pays less and is wrought with headaches. I am looking for a product, preferably physical, to build a team and sell independently. Not looking for insurance, financial products, etc. But something I can build value in and build a team. Does anyone know of any products or businesses s that might fit this? Can invest in as well. What do you think is the most lucrative form of sales to get into Posted: 18 Sep 2021 12:46 PM PDT I've been in sales for few years marketing car sales ect . I recently am accepting an sdr role for a tech sales job. It's a step below what I was making before and I was an AE already. But I think it may be a step back for a better career path. Tech I feel is more secure and there's a ton of money to be made. Plus I feel like tech employers are more progressive with work to life balance as well as it doesn't take as long to move up Love to hear some feedback [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2021 10:31 AM PDT We are going through a massive inventory shortage at this time at my dealership. Customer calls in wanting to know my best lease price with perfect credit. I let her know I have currently have 3 offers on that particular car and the best so far is $1500 down and $475 a month tax in and the company is accepting offers till tomorrow afternoon so if she has a better offer I will be happy to bring it to management since the car will go to whoever pays the most for it. Lady flips out at me via phone and tells me this is not what she was expecting when she called in asking for our "Best Out The Door Price". I was polite and respectful the entire time. Did I do something wrong ? [link] [comments] |
Looking to make an Industry Change, any input helps! Posted: 19 Sep 2021 09:49 AM PDT Currently in marking SaaS and crushing numbers. But looking for higher earning potential and remote positions. IaaS and Fintech would be great to transition into. Looking at angel list & YC but failing to find a solid list of remote jobs. Would love some input here or recommendations! Are any of you fine people hiring remote AE's? [link] [comments] |

Impact of a PhD/DBA on my SaaS sales career? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 06:19 AM PDT Hello fellow sales people, I am a 27 year old AE in a SaaS company. I do not want to stay in sales for the rest of my life but I am pretty happy where I am right now. I would like to transition to a management role eventually or transition to a different role in the digital industry. I am playing around with the idea of pursuing a part time (4 year) doctor of business administration program. Money and time shouldn't be an issue but I am collecting some pros/cons. Anyone wants to share their perspective or experience? Thank you in advance [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2021 05:40 AM PDT Hoping for some assistance on the below. I was approached by an early stage SaaS start up to be a part time sales associate. Responsibilities would be about 10-12 hours / week and typical BDR work. I would not be leaving my full time role (new AE at large co) and working more as a consultant. They have left it to me to send them over what I think would be a fair comp package. We mentioned an hourly rate + commission %(b2b). Has anyone had any experience with anything like this? Some suggestion numbers would be much appreciated as this is new to me. Should I mention equity? Also, has anyone ever did anything similar? Deals are currently ~25k. [link] [comments] |
Any tips on keeping in decent shape while in sales Posted: 18 Sep 2021 10:42 PM PDT So I will be entering my first day of my sales career Monday...I'm sure the hours are going to be long and I'm pretty much used to a typical 40 hour work week. In addition, I will be networking at restaurants/bars a lot. Help a brother out please lol. [link] [comments] |
Car sales: How much will I fuck up before I get it right? Posted: 18 Sep 2021 07:17 PM PDT One week in. I've got 2 deals under my belt, both in which with the help of sales managers. I find I'm either not asking the right questions, or talking too much. With each interaction I see improvements and I see where I need to practice. Some folks are easier to deal with than others. When asked the price I get awkward because some managers tell me to avoid telling them the price and sometimes, I feel that isn't fair, but maybe it's just my execution. I'm trying to not be hard on myself because I'm so new at this, but I really want to be an 6-figure sales person and I know I have the potential to get there. Any veterans out there have any good advice? [link] [comments] |
Best questions to ask interviewers in medical device sales? Posted: 19 Sep 2021 02:48 AM PDT I'm looking for great questions to ask to get a better understanding of the company and stand out. For those who interviewed for med device companies, what impressed them? [link] [comments] |
Boss reading my emails-need advice Posted: 18 Sep 2021 03:53 PM PDT I started a new sales job two weeks ago. I have been put in charge of the corporate emails-all responses come from me. I found out pretty early in that my boss will also constantly be checking the email. She'll randomly open up an email then grill me about why I said this or why I didn't do this (she'll interrupt me working to do this-she won't even Slack me or give me time to know what she's referring to. It's like constant pop quizzes and interrogation). I'm still new so sometimes I am not clear on her expectations, but I think I've been doing a damn good job considering I've had only two weeks to learn how to do everything before being on my complete own. She's found random "mistakes" and will interrogate me about them-one person received tracking information with two orders that weren't hers and let me know-not a big deal. I found out the person that sends me the tracking accidentally put those on-it wasn't a big deal, I just told the customer to disregard those last two. She acted like t was some kind of big fuck up and berated the person that made the mistake once she found out it wasn't me. It feels like she keeps looking for me to make mistakes. I've been told things like "You use the word 'you' too much in your emails"-what??? I've never had this insane level of micromanagement before. I've always been trusted to take care of things on my own. I am salaried but she also requires all emails to be responded to before I leave, even if I get emailed at 4:50pm, and she WILL check and call me out (some of these emails take a considerable amount of time because they require creating an invoice or taking down information). The other day I got to work and my coworker asked me if she could respond to one of my emails-wtf? I asked her if the boss told her to go into my email too? She said yes. I was VERY frustrated and told her I'd like to handle all emails because it's MY job and I need to keep track of everything (my ass is on the line for this email). I was extremely irritated my boss went behind my back to tell a coworker that had been there for a few years to basically babysit me (without even looping me in). So now the email I've been put in charge in also has my boss and a coworker checking up on me. I didn't know the job would be like this when I interviewed and I can't really take this level of micromanagement. The boss micromanages me about other things too. I have a feeling she won't budge on staying out of the email. Has anyone had a situation like this? Do you think she'd ever change or is it time to start looking elsewhere? My mental health is important to me and having a boss that's extremely critical and micromanaging while also not giving me the best training tools just isn't something I want to deal with. I would also kill to have a remote job, and I'm worried about Covid. Any advice is appreciated. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Sep 2021 07:45 PM PDT I am interviewing for a sales Engineering position with a SaaS in niche space. I would be coming from industry. The recruiter said the base would be in $100k territory with a bonus of like 60-80k but AFTER two years. First year woul be like 30k. Said something along the lines of it being because the bonus is a pool from group, not individual. What does this mean? To me it was a red flag but since sales engineer is not fully involved in selling, more in demoing, I am not sure what the deal is. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Help! Should I take sales engineer job? Posted: 18 Sep 2021 10:40 PM PDT Hi, I currently work as a tech consultant making around $250k. The job is pretty great, 40 hours a week, minimal travel, low stress, but full time in the office. I recently received an offer for a sales engineer position selling hardware for a tech company with a slightly higher target pay. I'm considering taking it for the extra money, and it is a remote position with more flexibility. I don't know much about the typical workload for a sales engineer. Is this typically a high stress 40+ hour a week job, or a pretty cake sub 40 hour job? [link] [comments] |

Sales Engineer to Pharmaceutical sales Posted: 18 Sep 2021 06:47 PM PDT Started a career in sales engineering and it hasn't been what I was expecting so far. (Thought it would be more selling and not as much maintenance) Got a job offer in the pharmaceutical industry and possibly another on in Med. Device. My question is, is this worth the jump? Is the money good in both? I've heard negative things about pharmaceutical's longevity and actual value. Would love some insight. [link] [comments] |
