Girlfriend staying the night kills productivity for me. How to balance hustle/growth/goals vs. relationship?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:32 AM PDT

I have this constant internal battle going on in between me: sex/cuddle or work/growth?

It seems like anytime someone spends the night my next day of work is slaughtered. It's not personal to any one person, it just is what it is.

So I don't want to be that guy that invites someone to come over, then kicks them out. I love my post-sex cuddles. But I also don't want to be celibate. The only option that worked was fucking mid-day or evening time, but my now-girlfriend doesn't like that she doesn't get to spend the night then (and I don't like making an excuse to suddenly be busy without her come evening time, it just doesn't feel right).

My current goals are to grow my business and wake up earlier, and it just feels so impossible. It seems my girlfriend kills my productivity. We stay up later, sleep in (Oh I feel so good cuddling), the sleep quality seems less (though feels better, strangely), and then the morning/afternoon is wayyyy slower with her.

I don't know what to do guys. I love sex. I love my girl. But this Monday and Tuesday are just so unproductive compared to last Thursday/Friday where she didn't stay the night. It's 4:30pm already and I got nothing done, and I'm struggling to focus (she also sat next to me while I did computer work and even though she didn't bother me she put her arm on me which I think relaxed me and made it impossible to work with the same passion as when I'm totally isolated).

How can one balance the fun/love of sex/companionship with the need/ambition of growing a business?

(I'm self-employed with no immediate urgency, hence why it's doubly easy to get delayed and lazy when she stays the night)

My girlfriend likes text messages. I’m not good at sending them. So “there’s an app for that?” Nope. My first app story.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:37 AM PDT

So you want to create an app.

If you are seriously considering doing so, and you think you have some technical chops, you might be interested in my story. It covers the complexities of indie app development as a side project, my eureka moments, repeated failures with app store policies and starting from ground zero.

Since my story covers a fair amount, it's here.

I'd love to hear from others who started in a similar boat and where they are today. The good and the bad.

    Cheers.

For those still chasing their first "success"...

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 09:52 PM PDT

Entrepreneurship can be an incredibly challenging and painful path.

Because at times, it demands more from us than we're able to put back into it.

It requires commitment, consistency, discipline, patience, and a "student" mentality.

It requires sacrifice, perseverance, humility, and a willingness to get back up each time.

    And at times...

It can feel so much easier to simply throw in the towel, give up, and settle for something less.

This post is intended to inspire those who choose to show up each day to pursue their passions.

These were eight of the major milestones in my early entrepreneurship journey:

    1. January 15th, 2014: I made my first online sale for $53.10.
    2. February 13th, 2014: I paid myself for the very first time ($920).
    3. End of 2014: My 1st successful online business generated $127,017.62 in total sales.
    4. August 17th, 2015: I paid myself 5-figures for the first time ($10,000).
    5. End of 2015: My 2nd successful online business generated $932,921.84 in total sales.
    6. End of 2016: That same 2nd online business generated $3,285,932.62 in total sales.
    7. April 2017: I sold my online supplement businesses for seven figures.
    8. July 31st, 2017: My first "million-dollar-payday" from one of the lump-sum payments.

For those who need to hear it, the first "success" is always the hardest.

But if you stick with it, things can get a whole lot easier along the way.

    I feel lost and stuck.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:31 AM PDT

I have owned a local vape shop for about 6 years now and I'm burnt out. We made great money in the first 3 years but as of the last 3 years it hasn't gained any money. There are 3 more stores that popped up here and have stolen some customers. We are in my opinion, the best ape shop in our town with more knowledge than any other shop and we were here first so we have a large customer base. My problem is I want out of it, I want to start something new and I'm out of ideas, I don't have the money I used to have and and the shop definitely doesn't either.

I have had alot of ideas but it seems like nothing wants to work out, for example I did Etsy prints for a while and out of nowhere we got banned for copyright when we do all our own art. (contacted Etsy for them to reinstate us) But it just seems like everything I do either doesn't work out or we don't have the money for it. It's not like we cant start another business but definitely not another brick and mortar it would have to be something smaller, and not an online store. We need something steady and something growable from the ground up like a pool cleaning company.

But I feel stuck and I'm ready to grow and do something again but I'm getting older and I'm out of ideas and I cant take the risks I used to be able to. So basically I just want advise idk whether I should just go get a job or just sit here at this shop everyday and try to come up with something.

I want to grow again, I want to have steady income and not be a failure. But I also want to do it with my wife, were a team and I love her to death and I want something we can start and grow together.

    Questions about Startup Expenses

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:53 AM PDT

Hey everyone, I am passionate about fitness, and I've been thinking about trying to start my own gym. Though, I'm trying to see how profitable I could be. Can anyone who has tried this before help me figure out what the costs would be for equipment, insurance, OH, etc? Obviously, it's highly variable, but I'm just trying to get. a sense for whether or not this is a good idea.

Looking for brands to partner with

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:37 AM PDT

    Hey,

I'm building a platform that will help promote new or little known brands. There are amazing products being developed everyday, but it's really hard for small brands to grab consumers' attention without a huge budget. Yet, it's exactly these brands that often times present us with great products.

We're amassing a decent number of subscribers who will get content from the brands that join the platform. We're talking about promotional content, product demos, discounts, giveaways and much more.
When picking brands to partner with, we place a strong focus on quality and relevance, as we want our users to be sure they'll be presented with great offers and content.

We'll be using part of the project's funds to run ads promoting our partner brands.

Right now we're mainly targeting emerging or overlooked markets such as some south american, european, asian and african countries. This means we're only working with brands that sell worldwide or in markets other than just the usual suspects (US, UK, Canada, Australia, ...)

Eventually we might charge new brands to join the platform, but for now it's all free for everyone.

If you'd be interested in joining our platform once it's ready, leave a comment or get in touch.
    Thank you!

How do I pick a market if I don't have any interests? I can get expertise in anything really fast, but I don't know what market to pick, what to specialize in. There's always advice "seek inefficiencies, seek people's problems!" but that only applies AFTER you decide what market you're in.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 08:00 AM PDT

So how do I find a market? How can I find like a list of markets or something?

I don't have ANY interests or inclinations (I blame the years of depression/anhedonia). Now I'm not depressed anymore, but the lack of interests didn't change.

I work out of my home for my own business, where some students come for lessons, etc. Are there liability insurances I need to be aware of because they're on my turf (currently renting)?

I realize it may vary by state, i'm New York-based.

    Try not to laugh

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:33 PM PDT

I'm a very artistic type with a knack for designing. I also have very little entrepreneurial experience and No business education. A few years ago I was starting to develop a business plan selling party supplies.

In the midst of the pandemic one thing led to another and I never had the upstart cost to actually move forward. Not to mention with gatherings being discouraged, the timing just didn't feel right.

Now that I'm projecting things will start to "normalize" over next couple years (larger groups and gatherings) I figure it's a good time to begin again.

I need all the advice I can get! What do I need to do first? What should I avoid doing? How do I know if my idea is just bad? How can I sort of test my idea out without giving it away? Should I go to school for business? I have noticed a certain party supply industry mogul selling almost my exact product idea.. and a few copycats. So there must be potential there? But also competition.

Stand Up- The Race to Success or Suicide

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:08 AM PDT

Jokes change from generation to generation, but the experience of the comedian transcends the ages: the drive, jealousy, heartbreak, and triumph. From the Marx Brothers to Milton Berle to George Carlin to Eddie Murphy to Louis CK—comedy historian Kliph Nesteroff brings to life a century's worth of rebels and groundbreakers, mainstream heroes and counterculture iconoclasts, forgotten stars and workaday plodders in this essential history of American comedy.

Action figure manufacturers. Is China the only cost effective option?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 09:02 AM PDT

I'm from India and trying to make custom action figures. I am trying to find out good manufacturers, but everything leads me to China. I don't want to be stuck with red tapism.

So, is there any other places where I can find good action figure manufacturers at a comparable price to China?

I searched a lot in India, but even it didn't gove any results. Everyone seems to be buying from China.

I am stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello everyone

So I live in a small country without a real classified website, we don´t even have facebook marketplace.
most of the people who are selling their stuff in my country use Facebook groups. There are a lot of these groups and they are not very organized and have a lot of old stuff on them.
So my idea was to make a classified website with WordPress. because I don´t got the skills to build one from the ground up.

What do you guys think? is it a stupid idea? any feedback would be appreciated

    Continuing a family business

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 12:33 PM PDT

Background story: My mother is a foreigner from Asian country, who is now doing business in Europe.

She took an opportunity in opening a grocery store and has been doing this since 1998.

She has 2 sons. Me(21), who is going to college next year and my brother(7), who is going to elementary school this year. Our father unfortunately died of cancer. So she has been working alone with my help for 4 years already.

The reason I'm telling you guys this is because she going to be 50 years old next year. It is really sad to see her getting older and weaker every year.

A week ago she told me that if anything happens to her. She wants me to take after the grocery stores.

That's a problem for me, because from the childhood to now I really despite this business. Because of it I have a had a chance to enjoy my childhood and only worked in the business. Hence, I haven't had any interest in the business until now.

(Our business is located in the village with a population of 4k people near the capital. In addition, they is 4 other grocery stores in the same village.)

However, after hearing her out. I totally forgot about the hate and is ready to take after it. If the situation requires it.

Thus, I ask her about the business, she told some pretty normal stuff, which are: – find a place/company, where to buy a cheap product, which should be good to resell it – try to recount the price for which we will sell the product + taxes – restock the products – pay for food and mortgage – once a month bring documents to the accounting

That's all. But in my eyes, there should be much more than this. Can someone help me out then?

How do I hire people, because I don't want to be like her working from 6am to 8pm? How can I really know the true price for which to sell it for customers? How to attract new customers? Is there any really good way to save money in the shop (for example by using LED light)? Is there a system which I can use to know how many products I have in the shop? Or how to know how much I made? Because we don't have this system so sometimes we don't even how much we made or where our product disappear (unbelievable, but I think she is trying to avoid something by doing this). Should I try to open another business, if I were to be successful in this?

I'm totally hopeless as a beginner. I want to thanks everyone in advance!

How to manage my time between schoolwork, side projects and relationships

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:52 AM PDT

    What should a teenager do?

Greetings entrepreneurs. I am a 18 year who graduated high school who wants to get into business and using my skills to generate income. I have my government drone license which I got last summer and I am currently working on my programming skills to become a software engineer. I'm also going to college for computer science which might seem bad but I have lots of academic scholarships and feel it can help on the business side as well. How should I use my skills to make money or at least get into the realm of business. Also how should I manage my time between schoolwork whist working and even wanting to have my own side projects with drone photography and coding projects. I really enjoy both computer science and drones but I feel I'll burn myself out going too hard. How do most of you do this?

An foreign company makes a product that we need in the US. Questions about making it in the US, legally, and hiding the active ingredient by expanding the ingredient list.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:44 AM PDT

There is currently a product for sale in another country. We need it in the US.

Say there is a product made of over the counter ingredients that... work like a fountain of youth. A scientist in Scotland learned that salt, black pepper, and nutmeg together worked like the fountain of youth.

    1) Do I need any kind of special permission to mix salt, black pepper, and nutmeg, apply it on a foodstuff, and sell it is a fountain of youth here.

2)Is it legal to add more things in that look like the salt, black pepper, and nutmeg that I can include on the list of active ingredients, so that no one else copies, mass produces it,and sells it?

    3) If it is safe, can we go to an atty, and have our ingredient list kept private, at least the part that works as a fountain of youth,on our product?

It isn't a beauty product, and it is as simple as salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.
