Geico cancelled my car policy without notice.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:09 PM PDT

I had a car insurance policy that was essentially cancelled at the beginning of this month but didn't find out today when I called to find out why I hadn't seen charges from them on my credit card. They then rudely of course, told me that my policy was cancelled. I asked why I wasn't sent a letter or an e-mail and they stated they sent one posted in June that my policy would be cancelled at the beginning of August. So, at this point I'm not sure of why. I asked and they stated that I had too many claims with my last one being in April and the one prior being a rear ending in October of last year. I've never caused an accident and I've only been in accidents that someone else caused. I've also been a victim of a hit and run. Now, I'm without a policy even though I've never caused an accident. I do have some moving violations on my record with the latest being in the beginning of 2019. So, I have to ask, why is no one now taking me as a customer for insurance? Am I not going to be able to acquire car insurance? My livelihood relies on attaining affordable car insurance and this really hit me hard today. Can someone please guide me in the right direction? Should I be contacting a lawyer? I do have one from the rear end accident I was injured in last year so maybe they'll be able to guide me on Monday. However, now I'm without a means of driving and it's frightening. I appreciate any and all helpful advice. Thank you all.

    EDIT:

"All the records of my driving record since I started driving that indicates all my violations:

    1 in 2018, convicted in 2018.

    1 in 2016, convicted in 2019 (causing 1 revocation in 2019)

2 in 2015, one convicted in 2016 (causing 1 suspension in 2016) and one convicted in 2018.

I also have a lot of claims according to them that don't add up to claims I've actually made. I was rear-ended twice last year, both not at fault.

I don't do driver services but I do work pretty far from home in a rural area for work so a reliable means of transportation is important.

I have already been denied by Progressive, Allstate/Esurance."

    Edit: New York State.

Do prescription charges show up on insurance bills?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:25 PM PDT

I have a Caremark CVS prescription card and Aetna health insurance under my parents. The Aetna bill gets billed to my house, so my parents are able to see it. I am wondering if all the prescriptions using Caremark are shown on the Aetna bill and send to my house as well.

Also, does Caremark send another separate bill listing all the prescription items?

    Thanks!

    Insurance advice question

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 08:54 PM PDT

So I bought a second car today and added it to my insurance policy. I was currently paying about 130 for full coverage basic insurance plan. After adding my new car to the plan with the same exact coverage, they said my rate will increase by 358. I very confused about why they're increasing my rates by about 3 times? I'm In Washington and I go with progressive.

Hi so quick question, will my rates go up? No claims collision, Canadian.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 08:31 PM PDT

Hi. A few weeks ago I was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle on the highway. The other driver didn't stop. Called the police who i read his plate to, and they instructed me to exit the highway and meet an officer. My car sustained some deep scratches and minor dent on the back bumper.

The officer had to make a collision report and his perception is that the damage was more than $2000 CAD. I have read up that this might now get reported to my insurance company. At that time I called my company and told them what happened to know what to do next. They told me to get quotes and until then they won't open a claim.

Unfortunately the other driver fled and the police say they can't find him, etc. I got quotes which were under $2000 since it's just replacing and spraying some paint. Since it's under $2000 I opted not to file a claim and I paid for the repair myself since my deductible is $1000. Luckily not a screw was damaged so the damage was literally cosmetic.

So will me having mentioned this collision make my company reassess my risk and increase my rates? Even though the damage was less than 2k, how will the officers report affect this? I have accident forgiveness on my policy but don't really want to rely on that.

    I appreciate all feedback.

    Renters insurance for collectibles?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:22 PM PDT

I live in MD. Current renters is by Allstate, 25k coverage.

I'm wondering if I should switch to another insurer that allows more flexibility as to how to qualify insured studf. I collect many things (cds, retro computer stuff that goes for a pretty penny). I called my agent and their service is crappy, they told me that my limits are high enough for the area and size of family (we're two) and that sounds bs to me.

Any recommendations as to which insurer provides more options to insure collectibles?

    Thanks

Will driving with a neck brace invalidate my insurance?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:17 PM PDT

Hello! Before I say anything I'd like to mention that my doctor has cleared me so I am allowed to drive, but I did have a question on the insurance aspect of things. Currently I am driving with blind spot mirrors so I am not having to completely turn my body to check my blind spots, but when it comes to making unprotected turns, I am able to turn at my hips to check if cars are coming. So, would I be invalidating my insurance if I kept driving like this? There's no state statute that makes driving in a neck brace illegal, but I would like some insight before talking with my insurance tomorrow.

Will the Health Insurance subscriber be notified of their dependents health insurance claims?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:10 AM PDT

Let's say you were an adult but still on your parent's insurance and wanted to get tested for covid but knew getting tested could cause unnecessary conflict with your parents should they find out that you acknowledge the dangers of the virus. Will they be able to see on their health insurance forms/claims/whatever that you received a covid test or be informed of your health insurance claims in any way, now or in the future?

    I live in California.

    Bill for Epidural — Help!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 07:51 AM PDT

I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight on what to do about this situation… I had a baby in June and had an epidural. I just received a bill showing that the epidural was out of network so I have to pay the entire amount to the tune of $6,450. I am beyond frustrated with this. The hospital and everything else to do with my pregnancy was in-network and they never said anything about the anesthesiologist being out-of-network. I don't make a lot of money and this is just a blow to me. My credit is excellent so I really don't want this to go to collections and make a bad dent in my credit. Especially since I would like to buy a new house within the next five years. If I go on a payment plan I feel like I'm going to be paying on this for the rest of my life. I just feel like I shouldn't have to pay the entire thing. Especially since I didn't know it would be out of network until I got the bill 2 months later. I'm sure I'm just going to have to suck it it up and pay for it but I wanted to see if anyone here has any opinions on what I should do about this or to let me know if I have any options… I live in Pennsylvania if that matters at all. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Anyone use noblr for car insurance

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 01:38 PM PDT

They seem to have competitive car rates in Texas where insurance is through the roof but I called them on the weekend and it went to a voicemail saying it is after hours.

That doesn't seem like a good sign to me. An insurance company should have someone available 24/7.

    Anyone else use them?

Michigan auto rates too good to be true?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 11:34 AM PDT

I've had State Farm for the last 10+ years and have watched my rates go through the roof. I've had 1 accident (not at fault) and my wife has had 2 tickets in that time. Currently paying nearly $400/month for full coverage on 2 vehicles we've financed. Impala ltz and Buick encore.

My question is that I've recently looked into a quote from Progressive and they're saying I can pay $198/month for the next 6 months and that includes renters insurance. My coverages all looked similar. Am I getting hosed by State Farm or is it too good to be true?

    Home insurance conundrum

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 10:42 AM PDT

So I have a stressful/complicated situation and I need help figuring out the correct and ethical answers.

So we had a small leak develop after a couple of severe storms. We called a roofing company. They came, inspected the roof and attic, gave us a quote and we purchased (maxing out our credit).they did the work the following week, over 3 days. We noticed damage to our drywall so they came out to inspect again, this time noting that our house roof was constructed without some important structural support. They say they can't be held responsible for the damage.

We unfortunately have gone through financial difficulties these past couple of years and one of the areas we chose to scrimp and pinch was letting our home insurance lapse.

Now I'm trying to find financial assistance before our house collapses but we can't get insurance through our previous insurer because of this preexisting condition. We need insurance for any assistance we can apply for. Will we not be able to get insurance anywhere because of the damage or are there companies that have some kind of clause to just not cover the issue at hand?

    "Named insured" vs "Insured driver"

    Posted: 28 Aug 2021 06:34 AM PDT

Hey folks I was checking my car insurance and noticed that I am listed as "Primary named insured" and my wife as "Insured driver". When I originally got this insurance, my wife didn't have a driver's license and so didn't drive. She got her license and started driving about 3 months ago. Have a few questions that I hope someone can help with.

    1) What is the difference between "Named insured" and "Insured driver"? I googled this and it seems like the difference is that I would be covered when driving any car while my wife will only be covered when driving our car and NOT another car (e.g a rental or a borrowed car). Is this correct and the only difference? 2) Should I call and have my wife updated to "Named insured"? 3) Is there a cost difference between being a "Named insured" and "Insured driver"? In other words, if I call and have them update the record, is there a chance my insurance goes up? As per google, her driving record is already factored in so I am thinking no, but would like someone with experience in this to comment.

    Thanks

Home insurance claim from previous homeowner

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 07:37 PM PDT

I recently bought a home in November however 10 days before we closed there was a major hail storm in the area. We discovered it earlier this year that we had major roof and siding damage. The previous homeowner filed a claim with his homeowner's insurance, Hanover Insurance. They are now saying they won't pay depreciation cost for the replacements, only actual cash value cost because the previous owner no longer own's the home. Is that a Hanover thing or is this expected? How do I get Hanover to prove that, in policy form?
