Has anyone else been in a position where they were not producing but others around them were? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:36 AM PDT Have any of you been in a position where you work really hard and you're not producing but everyone around you is getting more meetings/closes than you? What did you do when you were in that predicament? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:28 AM PDT Hello all, I'm 22 years old - currently a solar sales rep for a top rated national company. All commission, been here 6 months and clearing around $20K / month right now. The hours fucking suck, nights and weekends - I'm starting to realize I'm definitely a morning person. Recently landed an offer as a full-cycle sales rep at a venture-backed AI startup, series A - $15 Million in funding. Growing 300% / month right now. I'd be working directly under the CRO who has 25 years of enterprise tech sales experience as the 2nd sales hire. Comp Package: $80K base, $150K OTE, 1% equity stake. I want to leave / reduce my hours at the solar job due to the strange hours required, lack of coaching / development, and lower potential upside. My current role is very individual and I feel like I'd enjoy having input on marketing / a longer sales cycle. I also think I've hit my ceiling with my current role - my conversion rate can only go up so much and I'm currently doing 12 hour days 6 days per week. Weekends are very busy and I'd probably still put some hours in then to supplement income. Coaching is biggest for me though, I think I'd learn wayyy more working directly under someone with a ton of experience / connections than if I continue down my path now. Am I crazy? What would y'all do in my situation? [link] [comments] |
Good lead gen system but bad sales closing techniques? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 04:56 AM PDT Hiya. I was wondering if anyone could help me, the context is: I'm a full-time remote worker for a company, and I've been for a while, I am a designer/artist and over the years, I use my portfolio and Behance site as a place to showcase my work, which became my lead generator as well, I often get emails asking for my availability for freelance work, so recently I want to entertain the idea of full-time freelance being the best use of my time and performance. I get leads fine, some weeks are better than others, I might get weeks when I get a lot of emails, like one proposal per day, then some weeks nothing shows up, or some other weeks it's like 1 email inquiry a week. I was wondering what could be the algorithm influencing this discrepancy? Should I be investing on ads? This is all passive lead gen from my portfolio. But more to the point, how can I actually close these leads? They come in, saying they saw my work, there's a lot of interest, they ask questions, etc. I like to think Im doing everything right on the interview/call, as I research the best practices extensively for this (from online articles, courses, teachers materials, etc); I even set my greenscreen on zoom calls with a professional twitch level quality setup, but at the end, most times, they don't close. I imagine they are mass mailing people and Im not the only one they're inquiring about. Im not a salesman or business person, so what would be a good place for me to start? What could the issue be here? At the time of writing this, I've closed two different profitable deals for the upcoming months, so I'm fine, and I'm set, but I'd like to increase my success rate. Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:30 AM PDT I work in sales, specifically in mobility sales for a large tech company. I'm an account executive but reach out and set my own meetings, etc. I'm sending emails about the new EFC plan to discuss how to utilize it and see how they can get funding: However, im receiving responses like "I need to cancel some hotspots" Which is fine! But how do I redirect the conversation as well? Or should i even try? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:48 AM PDT I am currently working on a paper for my sales class about what it takes to be successful in professional selling. In my paper I am including a section where I ask sales professionals questions about their personal experiences in sales. I am curious and would like to hear from others… "What is the most difficult piece of feedback you have ever received? How has that shaped your approach as a salesperson?" [link] [comments] |
Should I keep a job on my resume that I’ve only been at for 7 months? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 10:20 AM PDT As the title states. Before I search for another job, I want to know if I should keep this job on my resume that I've only been working at for 6 and a half months? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:27 AM PDT Sort of new SDR here. I was wondering what kind of success my fellow SDRs were seeing regarding emails vs phone calls resulting in scheduled meetings, I am a month in and have only scheduled one meeting thru email but 10 over the phone. What results are y'all having? [link] [comments] |
Is anyone using job descriptions as a sales signal? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:56 AM PDT Hiring companies give a lot of details about their technologies, business plans or future roadmap when posting job descriptions. Has anyone found intel on competitors or potential leads from job descriptions? I'm considering building a product for this use case, that'd act as a signal for selling to that specific company. Would you guys find it useful? [link] [comments] |

Message me if you'd like to connect on LinkedIn or have some advice to offer regarding finding entry level positions in healthcare. I am based in Ontario, Canada (near Toronto). open to working remote as well! [link] [comments] |
Tips for a new account manager? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 07:22 AM PDT I start my first job post college in 2 weeks. In the beginning, I'm basically working on a team shadowing an account manager. Eventually I'll move into having my own accounts and be given a quota. This is going to be my first REAL job, and I'm starting to get the first day jitters. I've had a lot of bad thoughts lately about how I might not be cut out for the sales job, and that I won't be able to meet a quota (even though I havnt even started yet). It's causing a lot of second guessing and anxiety. I'm trying to counter these thoughts by being as prepared as I can. For anyone who has worked in account managing, what are some tips and advice you could offer to a soon to be account manager? I understand the role, but I think I lack understanding of some of the finer details. How to interact with clients, how to communicate appropriately and effectively, and overall how to succeed at reaching a quota. I know it's a broad statement, but any advice helps. Thank you [link] [comments] |

Some of the product areas include: Bilary (stone Mgt/dilation) Stents Biopsy (Needles/brushs/foreceps/snares) Dilation Energy Hemostatis I have not interviews in over 3 years. My question is what should i bring to the table for the HR Rep? I currently have: CEO/ORganizational awareness History of organization A few testimonials The Recruiter gave me a brief overview of the role 2 weeks ago - extremely brief, and do not want to ruin chances on the first round. Posted: 06 Jul 2021 02:25 AM PDT TL;DR: My questions is, how can a car salesperson bring customers into the dealership? Hey everyone, I was offered a sales advisor position in my local Maserati dealership. In an interview I had with the branch manager yesterday, I was asked the following question: "Considering the dealership's location is somewhat far away from the city, you technically wouldn't have customers walking in and out easily, so how can you improve that (as in to bring more customers)" Right after he asked me, he said "If you don't have an answer right now, I want you to know it's totally fine". So I told him to put advertisements, and he said that it's not what the company should do, but rather me, as car salesperson, what would I do? Frankly, I didn't have an answer, so I told him right now I got nothing. So my questions is, how can a car salesperson bring customers into the dealership? [link] [comments] |

Sales course by Brian burns worth it? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 06:50 AM PDT Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here has taken and experienced success with Brian Burns sales course about "closing the complex sale"? I've been following him for some time on LinkedIn and listen to his podcast on "The brutal truth about sales", I'm a fan of his content and think it could be helpful given that I'm in a complex selling SaaS role but haven't seen/heard of any success stories which makes me wonder if it's actually worth the $1000. (Work would pay for this but if it's not worth it then I would rather spend my personal development budget on something else). [link] [comments] |
Online interview attire: SDR jobs at tech start-ups Posted: 06 Jul 2021 08:15 AM PDT I had a look at older posts and most recommended still wearing a suit (at least the top part!) and tie for an interview even at tech companies, but I'm finding myself all the time in front of interviewers wearing t-shirts and it feels odd. Should we still wear formal clothes? [link] [comments] |
As an AE, how do you motivate and build a good relationship with your BDR? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:40 AM PDT I just got promoted to AE last month and am working with a BDR who's been at the company for close to a year. He seems smart and has performed well in the past, but he's been underperforming the last 4 months. Talking to friends from the same team it sounds like he's always been a bit on the lazy side, some months worse than others. As far as I know there's not anything going on in his personal life that would hinder his performance, and he says he really liked his last AE. From what I can tell he's just not feeling the drive to perform as of late, and his KPIs are kinda low. I'm wondering what I can do to build a good relationship with him and motivate him to generate pipeline for me. We have weekly 30 minute syncs, I spend the first 10ish minutes shooting the shit with him about not-work things. When we talk work I try to support his ideas and provide some constructive feedback on techniques, I remind him we're a team and to CC me on emails or send me prospects to cold call wherever he thinks it might be helpful in generating an opp (we've generated a few tag-teamed opps already). I also do what I can to help him out, such as flipping an opp early last month. I thank and congratulate him on the big opps he sources for me, and try to communicate with him regularly throughout the week about both work things and personal life things. After a month of this his KPIs are still not really going up, even though I've directly asked him about that, to which he said he'd get them up. Any further ideas on what I can do to drive my BDR to be successful and generate pipeline for me? As a recent BDR who had a great relationship with my AE I really want to do the same with my BDR, but nothing I've done so far has changed much. [link] [comments] |
I have a small team that specializes in cold outreach.. what industry should we focus on? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:23 AM PDT Title says it all - I have a small team that specializes in cold outreach.. what industry should we focus on? Currently we work with a few small B2B SaaS companies but I'm curious what others have to suggest. [link] [comments] |
Client Gifts: anyone got something new that clients love? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:13 AM PDT Hi All, It's gift giving/procurement season in my job and I've got about $10,000 for client gifts till year end to spend. I am sick and tired of shitty branded stuff that comes from the same catalogue that feels like overpriced Staples crap. Alcohol is a given (wine/scotch ect) but I really need more ideas for standouts. My policy was always "sits on the desk" or "Lives in their purses" for products. Something of value that they keep close and with them like a Bluetooth speaker (2010-2014 this was killer) or a Kate Spade wallet with my company logo on the inside of it, understated. I'm usually doing $150 per blue chip contact and $50 is for smaller spend. Love some fresh takes or gifts anyone has seen that were coveted. My clients are mainly women age 25-55. Happy Q3 everyone! FIRE in Europe, is it even possible? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 02:23 AM PDT For context, I have 3 years of solid Sales experience at a smaller sized company located in Nordics, started with SMB clients, worked myself up to Enterprise level customers. I am ready to make my next move into a cushy Account Executive role at a larger company, willing to start even as BDR, no problems. The only caveat is that with tax rates here in Nordics, there is no fucking way I am working my ass off to receive only portion of my revenue. I am pretty young (23) but the stress will catch up with me down the road, you guys know it better. So if I am trading my health and time to FIRE, what is the best place in Europe to do it? Specifically in context of Sales. I heard Ireland was a great country to get some nice names into resume and solid career progression with possibility of cross-country transfer It would be great to just go to US, but easier said than done. Thoughts on recording software? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 11:05 AM PDT I'm considering a tool like ExecVision, Refract, Gong or Chorus for the business development and account executive team. Does anyone here have a preference on any of these? As salespeople, have these tools helped you improve and win more business? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Jul 2021 10:54 AM PDT Good morning everyone! I'm currently working inside sales at a company, and was looking to see if anyone had input on better CRM alternatives to Pipedrive. The pipeline is something we dont use outside of recording deals won. Usually i will create the deal, and then click won since we dont really have a need to record each step. Our primary use is the contact list and activites list. We use it to keep contacts organized and to make touches once a month per contact. Using activities seems to just clog and make our process clunky. Ideally we would like something that focuses on contacts and recording touches/convos that our management can track easily. As mentioned, we have no use for the pipeline. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Jul 2021 07:06 PM PDT A close friend of mine (that I helped through the interview process) got an offer letter as an SDR at a pretty large cyber security company. They just graduated college. The offer specified base pay but not commission — it said something like "you will be paid commission via the inside sales payment plan". My friend obviously requests that plan and they say they won't supply it — only after they sign the offer. This is crazy right? I'm in sales but still only a year ahead, so I'm lacking knowledge in this. Is this common? This is a large company (1500+ people), not some weird scammy boiler room. Their Glassdoor reviews are mixed on commission payout. How would you react to this situation? Keep in mind, this is the first job out of college so there's a lack of negotiating power to just walk away. Interested to hear this subs thoughts. Edit: appreciate the comments everyone! Glad I am not crazy in thinking this was wildly shady of them [link] [comments] |
Difference between insurance sales and SDR Role? Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:47 AM PDT I'm currently in the insurance field and I have been for around 5 years selling B2C. Mostly personal lines insurance which is Auto, Life, Commercial, Homeowners, and etc. I have an interview at an IT software company which is an SDR role. I'm interested in what they have to offer, I'm not making the greatest income being in insurance due to the fact I do not own the agency, therefore the resume has been sent out whenever I have some free time. I do not have a college degree, I know that many places require one but might not be mandatory. Is SDR a good role to fall into with advancement? With insurance, you're either the agent, or the employee, not much room for advancement unless you go to corporate. I make around 36k a year total with base plus commission. The position I'm interview is $37,500 as a base plus commission. Is the turnover rate high with SDR? Is this something I should entertain? I have no experience selling SAAS. [link] [comments] |
Looking for some guidance on voicemail messages.. Posted: 06 Jul 2021 09:42 AM PDT Hi all, I'm about to start a campaign trying to do some outreach to potential clients, I'm looking to book some demos on my platform. I have a hybrid conference platform and I'm trying to build partnerships with audio visual providers. The plan is to leave short personalised voice messages in LinkedIn messages, with a short video demo after the message as well. My hope is for some guidance on how to: Hook them in the first sentence Get their interest in knowing more Call them into action to booking a demo Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
