Investing in Consumer / Branded Companies

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 12:37 PM PDT

    Hey there!

I'm a young professional that will be joining an investment team focused on the Consumer industry a year or so from now. The fund defines Consumer pretty broadly, with the universe encompassing everything from beauty and fitness products, gyms, restaurants, fashion, food, alcohol, etc.

As I get ready for the role, I'm hoping to train my investor mindset a bit more. With this in mind, I wanted to see if this community had suggestions for news sources and investors to follow to get a good grasp on trends and investment ideas in this space.

As an example, I've found the quarterly report of investor letters super helpful. However, they obviously span the entire range of investment opportunities (from airlines to cybersecurity to oil and gas). To be more effective and efficient in moving up the learning curve, I am curious to see if you all have any suggestions for individuals/funds I should follow that focus exclusively or mostly on the consumer industry.

    Any help would be appreciated!
