Crazy neighbors trying to discourage people from buying my house because they want it Posted: 19 Jun 2021 11:24 AM PDT Decided to sell my house about a year ago, neighbor made an offer but it was too low for me and I decided to fix up the house and put it on the market to get a higher price. I told them this, they stayed silent but was watching me constantly when I was fixing up the house. Now, the house is on the market. I had an open house today and was told by my realtor that they came over and started some trouble and she respectfully asked them to leave. So they went to their backyard and was beckoning people over to tell them lies about the house and the neighborhood in order to disuade people from buying the house. I would like to explore my legal options because they ARE on their own property trying to talk to prospective buyers. Can I do anything about this? [link] [comments] |
[USA - GA] Can I tell my wife I know she has an STI without violating HIPAA? Posted: 18 Jun 2021 08:04 PM PDT So I work in a hospital laboratory. About 2 weeks ago I got a specimen to test for an STI that was my wife's. The specimen is, without a doubt, my wife. The specimen label includes first, middle, and last name, date of birth, doctor who ordered the test (my wife's doctor), and date of collection (I know my wife had a doctor appointment this day). Even though I work at the main hospital in my city, we receive samples from all sorts of offices and clinics all over the county, so my wife probably doesn't realize the test wasn't being run in the office she had her appointment at. Anyway, the test came back positive. I assumed she was going to come forward to me that she has cheated on me, but for the past two weeks she hasn't said a word. Odds are probably good that I'm already infected as well but, I've been avoiding her advances anyway and she's already questioning what's up with me not wanting sex. My hospital does not have any policy regarding us running samples of people we know or are related to and I didn't go out of my way to do so, running those tests were just my assigned duties on that day. How can I safely proceed here? I have to eventually tell my wife I know if she's not going to come forward on her own. If I were to get fired for a HIPAA violation I imagine it could ruin my career as I imagine it would be difficult to get hired elsewhere after that. My wife does not have me listed on her HIPAA policy at her doctors office as someone they can discuss anything with. Any advice would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
I’ve been fighting for custody of my children for 4 years and my ex assaulted me. Posted: 19 Jun 2021 03:18 AM PDT I was in my relationship for 6 years. We had three children, rarely any fights, but she cheated on me early in the relationship (she was pregnant with our first child) and later on in the relationship (pregnant with our third child). She filed for custody because I still wanted to make it work. My father wasn't there for me and it's a principal of mine that I'd be there for my kids. She baited me with trying to make it work but said "she couldn't stop the court process once it's started". I kind of just thought we'd make it work and we could just both tell the judge never mind we're ok (it was my first custody battle and I was 22) I filed my response a day before the deadline because I found out she was cheating on me with my best friend from high school. I won because of some issues she had with a stepsister of my ex who assaulted our children. After a few months and talking to my ex I agreed on giving her back the 50/50 time share provided there be no unsupervised contact with my ex's stepsister (my principal was that the kids would have both parents.. hopeful I guess). She got kicked out of her parents house and started doing some sketchy stuff with her uncle who is in prison for molesting a kid and some how managed to get the weekdays with out children. She's held the kids for 7 weeks from me. I am going every week to collect police report business cards. I go today and she's home (she usually leaves so she doesn't have to speak to the cops) I knock and she doesn't think it's my day but because it's Father's Day weekend I get the children. My daughter runs up to me and when I go to pick her up my ex starts punching me in my head and face. I pulled my daughter to my chest and turned around so my daughter doesn't get hurt and my ex slammed the door behind me. In shock, I immediately call the police with my daughter crying. She calls the cops too. When the cops show up I'm out front holding my daughter. They ask her her about it, I was told they didn't want me present when they asked her. I complied. They went to ask my ex about it, she argued that I had slapped her first but the children were present and they told the police not only did she hit me but she hits them (the kids) as well ( Corporal punishment is against court orders) The cops ask me to check the kids for bruises I checked There back and butts and I didn't see anything but when I got home my oldest son told me he had a bruise from a belt his mom used. I checked and it was fading but there is a bruise there. My grandmother gave my daughter a bath and noticed that there are bruises in a similar area on my daughter. I'm going to take them to the doctors tomorrow so that my oldest may tell them but my real question is.. is that it? It's been a really hard 4 year battle. My lawyer seems to think it's a done deal I may have been knocked in the head a few times today but it's hard to imagine it being over. She's spending the weekend in jail but because the judge has sided with her in the the time she's been the judge.. I'm afraid she's going to cut her slack for assaulting me. My ex literally didn't show for the last two court hearings and the judge doesn't care. The cops came and gave me a card that says they responded to a domestic violence report and they arrested the dominant aggressor. I went to the doctor band was checked out for an assault. I just want to make sure me and my kids are safe. I'm in ca USA [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 08:02 AM PDT I'm looking at a really good apartment near my college in Cincinnati, Ohio and I messaged the landlord. He said in his email "This two-room apartment is for full-time undergraduate college students between the ages of eighteen and twenty-three [our legal requirements] and available this August." I decided to take a gap year this year but I will be returning full time to school during the year long lease. Is this an enforceable rule? [link] [comments] |
IRS says I need to report income I never made. Posted: 19 Jun 2021 03:37 AM PDT So i filed my 2020 taxes early this March, and shortly after I received a letter from the IRS stating that I needed to file my 2019 taxes. The problem is I was unemployed in 2019. So I replied back on their letter that I did not have any taxes to file for 2019. I left my last job as an Installer for an HVAC company on October 2018, and went back to college in January 2019 using my GI bill to cover for tuition, and I was also receiving a monthly housing allowance from my GI bill, so I was able to cover my expenses as long as I remained a full time student, so decided to take a break from the grind for a little over a year. I started working again in February 2020, and as I stated above, filed my 2020 taxes and told IRS that I was unemployed and had no taxable income during 2019. However just a few months after replying back to them, I received another letter from the IRS where they acknowledged my previous response to their question but here is the kicker. They state in this I letter that I have over $225,000.00 dollars of unreported income for the year of 2019 and that I need to file taxes for this, but I don't have this money nor do I make this much of money currently. So as you can see, I am at a loss in here. I have been thinking about calling the IRS and ask about this, but I have heard that is better to get in contact with a tax lawyer before hand, could there be some kind of tax fraud going on?, somebody else using my social security number to work? I don't know where to start, I could really use advice. Thank you all. [link] [comments] |
[USA -- CA] Creep who hit my car is trying to get me to pimp myself out for insurance! Posted: 19 Jun 2021 03:16 AM PDT About a month ago I got backed/reversed into on the roadway while I was leaving work. I had just bought my car for very cheap, and although the damage was tiny it was still effectively totaled. I chose not to call the police because it was such a small scale accident. The driver was mostly fine at the scene on first impression, apologetic but I now see he was an asshole and trying to take advantage of me. We exchanged information, and he told me the car was his family member's (who was with him but did not speak English), so I thought nothing of the fact that the name on the insurance he gave me was not his. Soon after I get texts from him trying to claim that because I was making an "illegal" turn (I very much wasn't), that we should settle out of insurance, I dispute that, then he asks me to "do him a favor" and "take one for the team". After I send him the insurance agents contact info he says something along the lines of "okay...... this is because you didn't want to settle" I continue to make a claim on him through the insurance, but it starts to get weird. The day I go through with it him and his family show up to the counter at my work while I was working. Insurance on his side starts to claim that the policy they gave me is not connected to the current owners of the car, names on the policy say they sold it a while ago. On my side he misreports the accident, says I ran into him while he was stopped, tries to claim injuries late in the game with no medical records to get my insurance to cover massage therapy for everyone in his car (I was stopped, he couldn't have been going more than 10 mph, and I had no injuries). Thankfully my side was able to see that he was lying and deny all liability on my end and his claim never went through, but I was left without any coverage from them, and at this point did not feel comfortable working through any sort of personal settlement with their party. My car was still drivable, insurance wasn't going anywhere, and as a young college girl alone in my city I had no desire to have any more communication with someone eager to threaten me. Yesterday I get texts from him asking me out on a date, telling me to forget about the entire reason I met him! Even better - he says he'll drop the claim on MY insurance (that wasn't going anywhere anyway buddy) if I go out with him. We have not had any communication for weeks and I sent him a few brief if not hostile texts before that. I told my friends about it, and they said I should call the police. I definitely feel unsafe but would like to get advice before I act on anything. I'm not even worried about the car at this point - I just am furious at this guy. [link] [comments] |
[USA - MN] Courthouse has no record of my case Posted: 19 Jun 2021 07:57 AM PDT In 2016 I received an underage consumption citation. I didn't seek out legal assistance at the time paid the fine and moved on. Now, I'm applying to graduate schools and a common question is whether I've plead no contest to a misdemeanor and if so to include case number. I called the courthouse directly to get my case number, since underage consumption is a misdemeanor offense, and they have no record of my case. Does this mean my case was not processed as a misdemeanor? I have not applied for expungement to explain having this removed from my record. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 01:12 PM PDT I'm just trying to understand what I should be thinking here. Today a cop came up to my home and did the loud your got trouble police knock. I differentiate it only because we had a neighbor years ago convicted of domestic assault and I've heard the more subdued we are just asking for if you saw anything suspicious knocks.. Anyway, this officer tells me that my car reported itself that it was in an accident. I am puzzled and explain we've been home all afternoon and my car is obviously not damaged. From there he goes on to tell me that Onstar reported it on my behalf. I explained that my 11 year old car has never had Onstar functionality, it's not built into my car in anyway and he must be mistaken. Then he said oh, it wasn't your car it was reported there was an accident in front of your home. That didn't track either that now I'm asking do I need to call Onstar and clear this up…how does this occur? He noticed my security camera and at this point pulls out his notepad and starts asking me to confirm that there's been no accident and I'm unharmed….. He left at this point and I got to thinking how none of this adds up. I called the non-emergency line just to make sure this was a real cop…they ended up putting me through straight to him. Talked with him briefly and started fishing myself….explained I was going down the rabbit hole in my own head now and wondering if I should be worried about identity theft or what could be going on…. At this point he changes his story and tells me that the iPhone now has functionality to report an accident and that functionality actually send a message to the 911 line but that it's entirely anonymous and there's no way to know who did it but it's probably a fat finger situation…. I talked with a captain in another police force in the town over I know and he said it sounds an awful lot like they were fishing and someone has given an anonymous tip about me. I am incredibly unsettled by this, I haven't had so much as a speeding ticket in a decade and I'm just mad. Is there anything I can do to try to figure out what is going on? I recently cut off ties with an old friend and have a feeling they may be the source of this…is there anything I can do other than save the security camera footage and hope it doesn't happen again? Tenant has refused to pay rent and has been harassing and intimidating Landlord (USA-IL). Posted: 19 Jun 2021 07:22 AM PDT So, here is the jest of the situation. This current tenant has been living in my unit here in IL since August 2020. Their lease is month-to-month and they have not been consistent in paying their rent. I've tried working with them and letting them pay half their rent at the first of the month and the rest by the 15th. Well, whenever they're unable to pay rent, they send me harassing text messages saying how I'm a horrible landlord and how they're not going to pay me a single cent of rent because they don't have to because of COVID and have threatened me with legal action. The moratorium on evictions due to COVID here in IL ends in August, but is it possible to start legal proceedings for eviction before then? They have made no effort in providing evidence that COVID has affected their employment and have not contacted any state or local agencies about rent relief. [link] [comments] |
(USA PA) Victim of a crime with a gun causing injury Posted: 19 Jun 2021 08:49 AM PDT My boyfriend was involved in a incident where our neighbor downstairs pulled a gun on him. He did not get shot thankfully but he got his right hand broken an had to get stitches for deep cuts on the left. He got hit with the gun butt trying to disarm him. He has had to miss work for over a month. The guy already got out of jail on bond an is still currently living downstairs an harassing him. Is it possible to Sue? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 01:54 PM PDT Basically a giant tree fell and is currently lying on top of our roof. It's been like this for two days (we're staying at a neighbors house because we're scared of the tree). There's a power line being stretched and crushed from the tree falling across the power line and then the tree landing on the roof. The power company (SoCal Edison) won't do anything, they acted angry that we even called about it. This is a very small town, there are no big cities for at least an hour. My neighbor called different tree trimming services and no one wants to do it because they're scared of the electrical cord. Is this fully our responsibility to fix? Or is the power company responsible to help figure it out too? Sorry if this post isn't allowed, please let me know and I'll remove it, thank you EDITED.....I also want to add that the reason Edison won't remove the tree is because the power line is connected from the pole (the giant pole in the street) and then connected to our house. They said they only handle stretched/crushed power lines if they're connected from one pole (in the street) to another pole (in the street). They said since the power line is connected from the pole (in the street) directly to our house, that it's our responsibility. It's been two days and we're scared of a fire hazard etc but no one in town will remove the tree so we have no idea what to do. We don't have home owners insurance [link] [comments] |
Is a judge able to order no use of cell phone Posted: 19 Jun 2021 08:38 AM PDT My nephew did some stupid stuff in the bath room at school with his cell phone and the judge ordered him not to use anything electronic or access to the internet. Is this legal..? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 02:40 PM PDT So basically I'm an idiot. At the start of the pandemic, I lost my job. I immediately applied for unemployment benefits and starting receiving them in April. They sent me a letter saying they needed a copy of my social security card. This is the point where I should clarify - I logged over 15,000 calls trying to apply for these benefits. Yes, really. The lines were so backed up and it was one of the most stressful few weeks of my life. I grew up in Ireland (dual citizen) and everything here is just more complicated and overwhelming (not an excuse for the embarrassing stupidity I'm about to share). I had been seeing a lot online about mistakes being made by the department of labor. When I received the letter asking for my social, I stupidly thought it was a mistake. Or rather, that they had sent it before I had finished finalizing my benefits, because on the phone they had said they have everything they need. I got the letter again and again thought they made a mistake and I never thought of it again. Come summer time, I got a letter stating that since I failed to respond to them, that meant I was ineligible for benefits and subject to pay back the entire $17,818 I had been paid to that point. I requested a hearing and had that hearing on the phone with a judge and with a representative from the department of labor. I explained the situation and even emailed her a copy of my passport and social security card during the call, which she also forwarded to the rep. She seemed really understanding and my family assured me that it would absolutely not be a problem. I was going through a difficult time (as we all were, this is all during the pandemic) and I assumed things would be fine. Stupidity #2. I never received mail from the judge with her decision. I eventually realized how long it had been and decided to call the court and ask them to email me a copy. It turns out the judge ruled against my favor since I had indeed received the letter and dismissed it, even though I explained what happened and could prove I was truly unemployed and was eligible for benefits. The letter stated that I am subject to pay back every penny. I received that news too late to file an appeal. I'm just wondering if there's absolutely anything I can do. I just got a job yesterday after months of trying, I start next month. I'm young and I'm devastated about how this will affect me financially. Any advice (or even a commiseration, haha) would be greatly appreciated. Tl;dr I have to pay back unemployment benefits in full and I want to know if I have any legal standpoint to make it easier. Should I file a sexual harassment case against my last workplace? Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:26 PM PDT Hey guys, I really don't know what to do so I thought that I would ask for some advice. I quit my job last week after my boss called me some very inappropriate and unprofessional things to my face, so I walked out on them and didn't look back. However, there was a different issue. There was a man who worked there who every single day when I was alone would come in and rub my hair and shoulders and call me a "good boy" and an "obedient boy" and stuff. He would also smoke meth and offered to sell me some more than once. I told him time and time again to stop, and I asked my boss more than five times to talk to him. The last time he did it she told me to "suck it up and get over it, and if something as stupid as him physically touching me was a problem then maybe I was the problem." I told my parents about all of this, and my mother told me that I need to file a sexual harassment report with the department of labor. Keep in mind also that my boss was arrested twice for running illegal gambling and dog fighting rings. What should I do? Is this even the right thing to do? I just know that I don't want the next person to have to go through that. I might just be dramatic too and should do nothing. I just don't know the right steps. Any advice? Thanks for your time in advance. [link] [comments] |
Work didn’t have a working bathroom for a month so I quit. Posted: 19 Jun 2021 03:55 PM PDT As the title says, I quit a job I actually liked because of the lack of a bathroom. The next public bathroom was a block away. The toilets were backed up with excrement and toilet paper and urine. There was found to be a sewer collapse and property management refused to pay for a while until I sent an email saying I quit because of that reason. The construction crew had quit for a few days over non payment from property management. It was a retail job and when I sent my resignation email there was no response. I was expected to be on the floor at all times. As the only female at the job, I had some unique challenges. The men were just peeing in the toilet or sink when it got bad. I need to use toilet paper and have a period. There was no garbage receptacle in the bathroom to handle this. When I moved one there, it was removed. Walking back and forth a block on lunch break would take up the majority of my unpaid break. I know it's only a block but I was having to hold everything including defecation until then. Some men just left without telling managers which was against the rules. I was trying to follow the rules but I finally broke after getting my period. Even on a good day, my periods can be too heavy to have to walk a block after realizing I am leaking and dealing with a customer interaction that can and does sometimes last an hour or more. I still let management know but I had to do things like stick wads of toilet paper in my underwear just to make it through. My question is, can I file unemployment? If not, can I have them pay me out for sick says when I had diarrhea? I had to call in two days in a row for that. I have doctors notes. This was a week ago in Wisconsin, for reference. After my email to HR and upper management, the issue was fixed (sinkhole, broken sewer pipe and all) in days. Wisconsin for the bots if they didn't see it. [link] [comments] |
My Ex is Trying to Take A Gift Back that I Need for Work Posted: 19 Jun 2021 03:16 PM PDT I'm in Texas. My ex BOYFRIEND bought me an expensive gift for Christmas of 2020 for me to do work on, and is now trying to legally get it back, saying it's stolen property. He doesn't have proof that it was stolen, he also does not have proof that I gave him consent to take it back, making claims that he 'loaned' it to me. I need it for work, and I'm 90% sure I don't have to give it back because 1) he gave oral consent to give it as a gift 2) I have proof that it was a gift. But is there any way he could get the law involved? [link] [comments] |
Is the police officer at fault in this accident… or am I? Posted: 19 Jun 2021 01:42 PM PDT I was behind another car, we were turning left from a main road onto a smaller 2-lane road. As we were crossing left through the intersection, a police car that was at a red light on the road we were turning onto, going in the opposite direction as us, suddenly turned on its lights and crossed over into our lane and started driving at us. There was only a distance of about 10-15 feet between us and where the cop pulled out into our lane. The car in front of me immediately stopped short and I didn't have enough time to brake and wound up rear ending her car. The cop, having turned right onto the road we had just turned from, made a U-turn and drove back to meet us in the parking lot where we pulled over. He checked to make sure no one was injured, then wrote up an incident report. He also gave me his information to include in the insurance claim and had his sergeant come and meet us to talk about the cop's role in the accident. Neither cop denied the reckless driving, it was obvious that the accident was a direct result of the cop's actions, but I was told that I just have to try to go through insurance and there isn't anything they can do. The sergeant did say that if it was a deer or a biker that suddenly emerged in front of the car, I would be at fault… but it was in fact a cop who suddenly started driving on the wrong side of the road we were turning onto, with no warning before turning, so I feel like that shouldn't really apply here. This is in MA btw. Is it legal for cops to drive like this?? To suddenly turn onto the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic? He only turned on his lights as he was pulling into our lane. I didn't even realize he was there until he was in front of us. If this person was just a regular guy, and not a cop, would he then be at fault? [link] [comments] |
My Employer is extremely sketchy - am I being conned? Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:29 PM PDT Hi, I am a recent university graduate in a technical field, and have been working with a self-proclaimed venture capital company on unofficial, off-the-books terms for a few months. In order to protect my anonymity, I am not specifying the country, but I don't think it is necessary [EDIT: I'm in israel, didnt realize location is required]. I am asking for your intuitive assessment on the situation I present in this post - i.e should I be worried? Did I already do anything shady without realizing it, and should I be looking to break off the relationship with this company? Everything that happened with this company seems "too good to be true" - and I feel like I have been sucked into this rabbit hole, and only recently had a moment of clarity. Since there is a high chance that I have been a victim of manipulation, I cannot trust my own assessment of the situation and am requesting input from you - the people who would know best. About 8 months ago I have applied to a job for a facilitator role in a VC from a European country. Upon applying, I have been contacted by HR who seemed very eager to hire me. The job listing explicitly asked for international students (which I am) who hold a foreign citizenship. I was then invited for an online interview, which went great, followed by a real life interview. The company does not have an office in the country, so we met in a coworking space. They reimbursed my transport expenses, and the interview went really well - I was "hired", and worked with them for a few months. Some facts: - I have never received an official employment contract, nor is there any record of me working with this company, - I cannot find *anything* about this company online - they are an absolute ghost except for an outdated website with a stock logo. I have checked European and US business directories and was unable to find anything, - When asking the company to formalize our relationship they say they prefer it to stay as it is (i.e off the books) - I have been compensated EXTREMELY generously for doing almost no work (a few reports, running basic errands) - I have been invited to various business trips, where the company paid for my accommodations, took me out to dinners in very nice restaurants, and paid me good money on top of that - all while not requiring me to do any serious work. - Whenever I would receive money - they wrote down and asked me to sign a paper that had an itemized list of the money received, with all remaining whitespace scribbled out. They said this is for their accounting department. - The company asked me to purchase a new prepaid phone, create a google account for said phone under a fake identity, and only do company work from that phone ("supposedly for preserving my anonymity, security and reputation") - Whenever having any business dealings with the outside world in real life, I was asked to use a fake name and never mention the company name. This went as far as asking me to create a detailed fake identity with background & history. The people from the company do the same thing (for example when making reservations in a restaurant) - I have only ever met 2 people from the company, and never together. Both have been extremely pleasant and kind to spend time with, and have befriended me (despite them being high level executives in the company and me being a random unofficially employed student). One of these people has absolutely 0 internet presence. Based on my "personal instincts" I do not feel that these people bear ill-will towards me, but I cannot trust my own opinion on this matter. - The company claims to be owned by a larger wealth management firm - I have looked into it and the firm exists, but there is no mention of the daughter company (the one I 'work' with) on the larger company's website, - The company has asked me to work on completely disconnected tasks, and they have nothing to do with what was originally advertised in the job listing. I have done things such as meet & escort business associates, prepare reports on various topics, write out logistical plans for meet&greeting potential investors, market research into different fields, etc. Not a single project that the company has asked me to work on ever moved past a single assignment - could I be getting strung along, kept incentivized with money and nice restaurants until they have actual need of me? - There is a lot of talk about mutual trust, my personal development, and in general hyping me up. I receive a lot of compliments and high praise for work that really isn't that complicated. I would say that 60% of the time I spend with this company is not doing anything work related. The above is a list of facts that I felt are relevant, but there is more "sketchy" details that are too minor to include. This feels like the company is up to no good and I'm being set up for something, but I really dont know. I am kind-of worried about the situation and do not know how to proceed. If this company is legit - then this could be an amazing opportunity for my career! On the other hand, this is very sketchy and too good to be true. I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you for taking the time to read through my post. EDIT: Didnt realize location is a requirement. I am in Israel [link] [comments] |
Mother withholding child after a false allegation Posted: 19 Jun 2021 07:56 AM PDT What is my recourse or immediate solution to dealing with the custodial mother refusing to give my court mandated visitation to me after a false CPS report. She is acting on "legal advice" not any court ruling. Georgia. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 11:08 AM PDT Someone recently purchased a strip of land next to our mountain house in Colorado. They excavated the slope, then put a small shed on the property with two horses inside. There is no fresh water supply as the owner has not placed a well there. The owners live about 45 minutes to an hour away, and do come and give them water once per day. The shed is south-facing, so the horses are in the sun all day in 95°F hoy, dry weather. There is no coral, run, or places for the horses to graze. Would this be enough to call someone for animal abuse? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 02:51 PM PDT So my family and I have been living in our town for about 5 years now. Little did we know back then, it tuned out to be tight knit po-podunk town that doesn't take kindly to outsiders moving in. We've had nothing but trouble with our local post office. From people I know not receiving my mail, bounced mail that shouldn't have been bounced, damaged packages, rude treatment, etc. My spouse recently went to confront them about these problems after receiving the most recently damaged package. They got defensive with no apology or guidance. My spouse got irate and things turned confrontational and the police were called. Though nothing serious happened and things were de-escalated, the post office is now refusing to deliver our mail and my spouse is banned from going in there again. So now I have to go in there and get our mail for now on, which makes me very uncomfortable. We told the police our issues with them, but won't do anything about it because the issue is out of jurisdiction...so they say. We were able to file a claim for the damaged product and they paid, but it wasn't enough, took time, and is designed to be as difficult as possible. This is also far from the first time this has happened. Besides moving, is there anything I could do legally and what kind of attorney handles these types of cases? Thanks in advance. USA / NY - License may be suspended due to dealer's inaction Posted: 19 Jun 2021 09:08 AM PDT My old car died - engine blew and wasn't worth fixing. Bought a new truck and the dealer said that he would handle all the DMV stuff and transfer plates. I bought the truck almost 3 weeks ago. Today, I get a letter from the DMV stating that there is a lapse in insurance coverage on the old car and if it is not resolved, my license may be suspended. This means that in almost 3 weeks, the dealer has yet to file the DMV paperwork. I called him and he claims that he'll take care of it on Monday. When I bought the truck, he said he'd have the DMV paperwork finished by the end of that week. That was obviously a lie. If he does not take care of it this upcoming week, what are my options? I really do not need my license getting suspended over his laziness. [link] [comments] |
My employer wants to terminate me for a family emergency. Posted: 19 Jun 2021 11:11 AM PDT US-PA I do not have enough money for a lawyer as my money goes to my father for his health. My father has just suffered a heart attack and is in critical condition and his surgery will be Monday at 1:30pm which i work 12-6pm. My employer said that if i call off i will be terminated or cut hours. I'm letting them know 2 days ahead of time but i feel horrible that i have to choose between the two. I'm scared because i do not want to leave my father alone during this but also don't want to lose my job over this. Any advice? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Jun 2021 12:05 PM PDT I guess my apartment complex switched management last December. Supposedly they didn't receive the documents of renters insurance from prior management and claimed they emailed us for the documents to provide them. I never received any emails. Now they're charging me $50 because they say I didn't provide re renters insurance proof even though I had it since last year otherwise prior management would have been asking me for it. I also renewed it now until next year but they're saying I owe them $50 because I violated my lease agreement by not providing it to them. Shouldn't this be prior managements problem and theirs? Can I just tell them to go get fucked and not pay the $50 bc I was fully covered for last year and also now until next year? [link] [comments] |
