What moment in your life where you took a risk and your life changed completely, and as an aspiring business man what can I do to start my career during this pandemic?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 07:16 PM PDT

Currently it is summer break and I want to do something with my time. Wanting to do something is far from actually doing something and I am going to do something. Some recommended getting a mentor, some said I should focus learning about it online, some recommend I should start a small business online. For me, I think my options are either start selling handmade items onlind / buying something and just selling it with a profit, focusing on the stock market and try investing in that, ask my parents if they know any people that can mentor me or I can volunteer to help with, or I can just stay at home and learn about things. So I am kinda looking into what I should do and any advice is appreciated.

What are some good business template platforms that are beginner friendly ?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 01:49 PM PDT

I'm still a beginner to this whole business template thing and I'm finding it very hard interacting with the platforms available on the market right now. So far I've only found one that's actually good and still user friendly at the same time. Its called Cardstack, and it has a lot of customizable features that helped create a super clean and smooth page. I think I'll stick to it, but do you guys know any platforms that are similar ?

    Advice on a joint venture

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 07:01 PM PDT

My partner and a good friend of ours are planning to start their own cafe business. We are working out the fine details at the moment. But I cant seem to work out how do we split the profits in the end. Both I, and the friend's husband will be continuing our day jobs and wont be contributing our time to this business; I will be doing their accounts and taxations etc.

Some scenarios that we are looking at:

    1. Both invest equal capital, and spend equal hours at the business, and share the profits 50-50.

    2. My wife contributes 70% capital and spend 30% time, while the friend provided rest of the capital and takes on the 70% of time needed to run the business.

    3. My wife just involves as an investor, where she provides capital, whatever is needed, and gets paid a return on the investment.

How does one go about doing their calculations for scenarios 2 & 3.

This will be our first venture into running something of our own. And I prefer not to get emotions in our way when making any decisions.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

How should I tell my client she still hasn't paid me after my services?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 09:16 AM PDT

I'm a housecleaner. I cleaned my clients house last week and I still have not received payment. I already sent her the price and she never paid me. How do I bring this up to her? What is the appropriate amount of time to wait? Advice would be appreciated 💕

UK Advice Needed - Legal Process exchanging funds and website over

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 02:32 PM PDT

    Hi,

Just coming here for some help as I'm not sure what to do. I made an offer to buy a business on flippa.com - the business is a UK registered business, and I am a UK buyer.

The usual process for transferring ownership and funds over through Flippa, is to go through their recommended provider Escrow, where I transfer the funds over to Escrow, they hold the funds while the website is then transferred over to me, to ensure that both parties are protected.

It has been around a week now since I purchased the website and I've had all sorts of issues because of the fact that Flippa and Escrow operates on USA terms. Escrow won't accept a standard international bank transfer from the UK - they only accept payments through ABA wire transfer, but both of my banking providers do not support this payment option.

The seller has been in touch with me via linkedin to suggest cutting Escrow out completely (as they will take a 10% of the funds). It makes sense to deal with him directly and cut out Escrow as everything is done through USD too - so it is costing extra with the conversion rates even though both business currencies are in GBP .

I wondered if anyone had any advice on how I could cover myself legally, as one party needs to trust the other (whoever decides to go first - either he transfers us the website first or we make payment first) - if I make payment first I just wanted to find out if anyone had any advice/if a basic contract would hold up? For example, if I detailed the process of how the business transfer would take place, get him to sign it - would that be enough if he didn't meet his end of the deal?

Any advice would be appreciated! Or any recommendations of an UK based Escrow alternative!?

    Thanks

How Do I Get a Mentor Online or Ways that I can Learn About Business, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Stock Market and things like that and gain the most experience and knowledge about it?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 03:44 AM PDT

I am a Teenager and I have the whole Summer Break To Do Anything I want. So I want to take a step Towards my Career. I want to take more risks in my life and be more open to new experiences. Currently I am just learning and doing things like Learning How to Speak Better English, Guitar, Journalling, Studying Social Issues, and Listening about Business and Life Lessons.

But I want to do more and take a risk and I was adviced to seek a mentor. My country right now is very strict with the whole quarantine situation, so there are a lot of things I can't do. So if you have any advice or maybe know someone I can have as a mentor or I could work jdut for experience or even sources that you can recommend that can help me learn all about Business, entreperneship and economics I would appreciate it tremendously.

[Question] Where can I find the best consumer/market research reports ?

    Posted: 10 Jun 2021 06:08 AM PDT

I saw that Jeff Bezos created Amazon when he saw a 2000 % yearly (or something like that) increase in internet adoption in USA households.

I would like to know where he saw this data.

    Data points examples :

    • share of 4G phones owned in USA
    • number of times consumers eat in a fast food each year
    • number of times owners renovate rooftops in the last decade

I don't know where to start looking or if there is something specific to type on google.

    Can you help me ?

N.B : if there is a better subreddit for that, please kindly advise me.
