Has anyone else been losing money last couple of months?

    Posted: 04 May 2021 05:38 PM PDT

I've been losing money non stop the last couple of months. I know growth stocks have been hit the hardest while everything else is going up. Has anyone else been hit hard the last couple of months? And does anyone know when this shit storm end? Man I've been getting pummeled continuously and it's just honestly sad. I'm about to sell everything and just dump my money into VTI or VOO and forget about it for the next 3-4 years at this point. Stocks in holding such as IPOE, XONE, STEM, MP, and FCEL have been continuously getting pummeled and I just feel annoyed at this point. I don't know how much longer this shit storm will last. Even ARK ETFs have been struggling.

Here is a Market Recap for today, Tuesday, May 4, 2021

    PsychoMarket Recap - Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Stocks fell on Tuesday following a mixed session yesterday, as the selloff in technology stocks accelerated following remarks from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. Market participants wait for the next set of corporate earnings reports and economic data, particularly the April Jobs report due to be released May 7.

Stocks fell after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen suggested she thought interest rates in the US might need to rise in the near-term in order to prevent an economic overheating as recovery continues. Rising rates would weigh on the valuations of growth companies and could slow down the recent rally to fresh highs. Janet Yellen said, "It may be that interest rates will have to rise somewhat to make sure that our economy doesn't overheat, even though the additional spending is relatively small relative to the size of the economy. It could cause some very modest increases in interest rates to get that reallocation, but these are investments our economy needs to be competitive and to be productive. I think our economy will grow faster because of them." This somewhat contradicts recent commentary from members of the Federal Reserve, will have to see how this story unfolds.

Earnings season continues to exceed even the most optimistic expectations, with more than 85% of the companies that have reported exceeding expectations by an average of 22.1%, according to data from FactSet. These strong earnings beat, however, many companies did not see their stocks pop up. Analysts largely chalk this up to the already-elevated expectation Wall Street had coming into this earnings season. Hilary Kramer (no relation) said, "The numbers were good but Wall Street response was neutral at best. When the best earnings growth since 2010 spawns a yawn it's pretty clear that perfection is priced in. While there's no seasonal sell signal flashing, there's no immediate reason to buy either. This is a great opportunity to review your positions, make any adjustments and then retreat to the sidelines for the next few months."

The Labor Department will release its April jobs report on Friday, which is expected to show a staggering nearly 1 million payrolls came back last month, accelerating March's gain. As a reminder, in March, the Department of Labor reported nonfarm payrolls increased by 916,000 for the month while the unemployment rate fell to 6% (unemployment rate was 14.6% in April 2020). Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for an increase of 675,000 and an unemployment rate of 6%.

SLSSF.TO Due Diligence. This is my only mining stock and I am quite bullish on it, here's why.

    Posted: 04 May 2021 07:59 AM PDT

Solaris Inc., a COPPER and GOLD mining company (can't go wrong with these assets!) in the Americas, engages in acquiring, exploring, and evaluating mineral properties. Holds 100% interest in the Warintza copper project located in the South-Eastern Ecuador; and 75% & 80% interest in the ongoing exploration of copper porphyry in Tamarugo and Ricardo(Chilean copper belt) respectively. The company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

According to the company's official press release early this year (link): "Solaris is pleased to announce a significant new discovery in maiden drilling at Warintza West and the first detailed geophysical survey covering its Warintza Project ("Warintza" or "the Project") have revealed a much more extensive porphyry system than previously understood. To meet the increased scope of resource and discovery drilling, the Company is doubling its drill program from six to 12 rigs."
A report from the geophysical investigation shows that the copper in the ground is worth four or five billion and the market cap is only 1 billion.
Moreover, Solaris acquisition has significantly been de-risked by being fully funded and availability of drilling resources, so there is no need to worry about capital of the project.

You may also be concerned about the bottom line of the Warintza project after Ecuador's new president elect; Guillermo Lasso's government has full support of mining projects in the country as will greatly boost the country's economy and not rely on oil alone.

Trading in calls for a stocks that have declined by -10%.

    Posted: 04 May 2021 08:00 PM PDT

I noticed that stocks that rapidly go down in a trading day (like -10% or more) bounce back up on average the next day. As a matter of fact, it seems this is the case more than 65% of the time.

So now I'm curious to buy a call option with a strike price just above the new, "depressed" price of the stock, and the next day, the stock will go up (about 65% of the time).

Does anyone have any pointers on how to make this strategy more effective? I think that the underlying stock has to have a lot of trading volume, have an efficient and liquid options market, and other than that, I really make a judgement.

I bet my options they will be beneficiaries. The stock is undervalued prior to the SPAC IPO. Ultimately, very few companies can compete with the made in America EV mantra.

    WPP - LVMH OF ADVERTISING

    Posted: 04 May 2021 08:11 PM PDT

For WPP, it's about we can be a creative company, not just a holding company. I look at a company like Disney, where you have Pixar, Marvel, Disney brands, that all come together when they need to. So we have brands inside WPP, from Ogilvy to AKQA to Grey, and we have fewer than we used to have because we got a bit too complicated. But we're encouraging people to collaborate, many of us share offices, and we've coordinated a lot of the response to COVID-19. And I think it's ultimately brought the company closer together.
