Privacy Policy / ToS for app

    Posted: 02 May 2021 04:59 PM PDT

First off, I'm not exactly a startup but I figured this is still a good place to ask this question. If you believe it fits better somewhere else, please direct me to that sub. Basically, I'm a high school student from the US that made an app that I want to publish to the apple app store. It is mainly a hobby type thing that I'm also partially making to set myself apart from other applicants when applying to college. Because of this, I have not spent any money on the project so far (besides the anticipated $99 price to submit to the app store) and would prefer to keep the cost of anything as cheap as possible. This also means that I ofc will not be doing any paid advertising for the app, so the amount of users will (presumably) be relatively low.

The app uses social features and accounts, so I used firebase to host this information. I was also planning on adding firebase analytics, but I haven't added that to the app yet. With any app that gets submitted to the app store, you must include a link to a privacy policy. If I didn't collect any data, this would be no problem. I would just use one of the free online privacy policy generators to say that I didn't collect data and call it a day. However, I do collect data. This includes emails, full names, usernames, passwords (stored with firebase's password auth, so I would have no access to these passwords), and data that the user has tracked from within the app (the app is focused on the feature of tracking habits and sharing them with friends). Because of this, I obviously need some form of privacy policy, as the last thing that I would want is to get into any legal trouble when I'm just doing this for a hobby as a high school student. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do here?

Can I sell my shares to regular people? Pre-IPO

    Posted: 02 May 2021 07:36 PM PDT

I have 10,000,000 shares outstanding. I am setting the value of each share at .625 for a valuation of 6.25 million, can regular people buy those shares at the price I set? is there an online marketplace, do i need a lawyer?

    Bonus:

Once people buy those shares I can do what I want with the investment right?

How do you know that you validated your MVP?

    Posted: 02 May 2021 10:32 PM PDT

How metrics could be used to identify that a MVP was validated?

I know that sales is a good parameter, but sometimes our product isn't payable yet, we offer just a limited version for free and the revenue is expected to come from ads or future partnerships when existis enough frequent users.

In that case, although users visits and recurrence could be parameters, I think other indicatives also could be used. What do you think about?

    On Valuations and Preference multipliers.....?

    Posted: 02 May 2021 12:30 PM PDT

My understanding is its pretty normal for a seed round to have a 1x preference/liquidation multiplier, if however there's some sticking points on valuation but as a founder you feel bullish enough that your willing to give on a multiplier, is there a general rule as to how that would impact a valuation?

So for example: For sake of argument say you are trying to raise $1m at a $9m (pre) valuation. But the investors are pushing for say 4m (pre) if you went to a 1.5x or 2x would that (usually) raise the valuation by a commensurate amount or by something smaller?

I also totally get that this is kinda a "how long is a piece of string" question, but would love any insight regardless...

    thanks....

    I need help...

    Posted: 02 May 2021 03:49 AM PDT

Aspiring techpreneur here! I have questions. Hoping you can help me guys. We're going to pitch our digital platform to a potential angel investor next week but the problem is until now we haven't discussed yet how much equity each co-founder should have (4 co-founders).

    Here are my questions.

    1. How much equity should I keep as the founder/ceo?

    2. How much equity should I offer to my other three co-founders?

    3. We're gonna ask for a $100k (Php 5M) investment, how much equity should we offer to the angel investor?

Thank you and good luck on your ventures! 🍺😁👌

New app idea. How do I do this?

    Posted: 02 May 2021 05:58 AM PDT

Hey my name is Gal. I've had an idea for an app that I know for a fact will work, as theres a paid app for it that people are going mad about. I thought about doing the same concept for free with some monetization going on. I have the whole idea planned out but I got to several road blocks and would love to hear your guys opinions and if anyone of you guys had launched their apps, I'd love some guidance.

Firstly I wanted to know wheres the best place to get someone to make the app and isnt it risky? Cant they just take the app I paid them to make and publish it as their own? (Altough I paid for it)

Secondly I was wondering how do I get an app on the app store? How does ad monetizing works? How do I make in app subscriptions work? I'm so confused😅

Lastly I wanted to know what a general road map I need to follow and the steps I need to do before publishing the app to the public?

Any help is very much appreciated!

Solo founders - what does your 'team' slide look like on your pitch deck?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 05:05 PM PDT

Some context: MVP built and in beta, bootstrapped, seeking pre-seed round.

I'm techncial and have worked @ MSFT, Google, and had a stint at a startup previously.

I'm working with a consulting team for design / some dev work and am looking to raise to hire for full time positions.

My team slide looks so sad through with just me as I don't want to put the consultants in it. Any guidance on this?
