    Insurance Not Covering Autism Treatment

    Posted: 28 May 2021 01:59 PM PDT

My son currently receives ABA therapy and our insurance helps pay for it. I received a job offer and as part of my due diligence I called the prospective new insurance company to inquire if it is covered. They said that none of the health insurance plans that this company has covers ABA. I declined the offer.

    I stumbled upon this

" Currently, all fifty states have coverage requirements for autism treatment "

    https://www.attentivebehavior.com/when-should-my-child-stop-aba-therapy/

This got me wondering if the health insurance company told me wrong.

Edit: I live in the United States. The company was EMI Health

    Open claim 4/15

    Posted: 29 May 2021 02:00 AM PDT

This may be a shot in the dark but I could use some advice. I had put my then girlfriend on my car insurance policy 12/2020 and we broke up 3/25/2021. I paid for both of our coverage. In the middle of canceling all of our bills that we had together, April 2021, a hailstorm happened April 15,2021. She opened a claim days before I cut this insurance policy off and her car is declared totaled. She has yet to pay the deductible so my insurance payment per month has shot up $90 with this open claim for her. I do not think she has the means to pay this $500 deductible and I do not want to be stuck with a higher rate because of this. Is there anyway I could fight to have this open claim removed? Any advice would be appreciated.

Car declared a total loss. Do I keep my insurance plan?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 06:53 PM PDT

    Hey,

My car was declared a total loss today. I wasn't at fault and it all went through the at fault drivers insurance.

I'm just wondering what I do with my own car insurance plan? Do I tell them the car is totaled? Do I cancel the plan? Or do I just keep the plan until I replace the car and then switch it over?

    Reimburse medical expenses?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 06:30 PM PDT

Hi, I need some medical procedures done this year and im looking for ways to reduce costs. under my insurance plan (through my job) i will have to pay $1320 a year, and i have a deductible of $2500. I don't benefit from tax deductibles since i get most-- if not 100% of my taxes back already because i dont earn much money.

Are insurance deductibles or premiums ever reimbursed if you dont earn enough?

I know everyone pays a lot into insurance plans, but i cant really afford it being an immigrant whos struggling to stay in college, pay bills, survive, and maintain fair mental health. Please let me know if there are ways to afford my health better.

Third party auto claim completely denied. Options?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 06:40 AM PDT

I was in an accident in NY. It occured in a traffic circle during my commute. I was in the outer lane, passing an exit and proceeding straight. The other driver was in the inner lane beside me and proceeds to make a right turn out of the left lane to exit the circle. Knowing he entered my lane and was about to hit me, I swerved out of the way. He did not hit me, but I hit a road sign on a small island, causing damage to my front bumper and headlight. Police came very quickly, but I had a brief exchange with the driver and he explicitly said he did not see me.

Accident report does not list other driver as second vehicle in accident. The report says "Vehicle 1 swerved off of the roadway and into yellow sign to avoid a collision with uninvolved vehicle". There is also a diagram that depics his car in my lane.

Other insurance refuses to pay anything. Says driver told them he saw me, slowed down and stayed in his lane. They state he was not listed on the report as an involved driver and there is nothing explicit in the report that implicates him at fault. They said I have no proof he left his lane.

Obviously I'm frustrated because I would not have to swerve out of the way if he was driving as stated. Also if his version of the events were true, why would he even stop, get out of his car acting like he was involved in the accident, and say that he didn't see me?

Besides small claims court or filing a claim with my insurance, is there anything else I can do?

Rules for registering a car and putting it in your name? Help

    Posted: 28 May 2021 09:52 PM PDT

So a family member gave me a car because I was in need of one. I'm pregnant and had no vehicle. Now the question is whether I can put it in my name and then get insurance that covers both me and my bf. He's the father of our kid and is going to be driving it a lot. He's worried because if it's not under his name and he gets pulled over, (he's African American and police pull them over a lot here) they will take the car away. He says the car needs to be in his name for them not to do that but that makes no sense. Obviously couples will be driving each others car. So does literally anyone know how this works, we both are new to driving but want to do everything right to avoid any problems. Thanks.

Insurance company suing me as the owner of my old car that I traded in

    Posted: 28 May 2021 08:53 AM PDT

I just got handed off a notice for an insurance company suing me for someone else causing an accident in July 2020 in my old car that I traded in with a dealership in June 2020. It says that I was the owner of the vehicle and that the driver was driving it with my permission. I looked up the VIN on DMV website and it says the new title was issued in August 2020. Wtf? What do I do? Where do I even start?

I have a form HSMV 82995 (Florida) from the trade in that transfers my power of attorney over my old car to the dealership. Does that put the blame on the dealership? Can I sue them if they have messed up the paperwork?

    Long Term Disability — investigation?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 02:10 PM PDT

    Hi all,

I have been in STD and it is ending in a week and am currently in the process of LTD. I had surgery early this year which failed so I will be going on my second surgery next week.

I have a chronic illness. My assistant manager boss so my second boss keeps nagging me when I'll be back. We were good friends during work but she's keep nagging me when I'll be back, that I should come back if I want a raise and honestly it feels some sort of harassment. In the beginning, it seems like she cared but now she just is trying to harass me by making sly comments. "The time is now to come back if you want a raise"

I was told that my boss just cares and is checking up but I don't think that's true at all. My head boss never contacted me once as well as HR. I was told that I would only have to keep in touch with the Insurance claim manager which I have been.

I don't plan on going back to the job. I plan on recovering and sucking every juice out of this LTD as possible. I have my doctors support.

I didn't tell her I'm having surgery next week because I don't want anyone to know.

The thing is, can my boss have any say in this?

    I am from Connecticut

    Double GEICO

    Posted: 28 May 2021 06:50 AM PDT

I was t-boned by another GEICO driver three weeks ago. The other driver's adjuster and the driver accepted 100% liability. I have rental reimbursement coverage on my policy. Adjuster just deemed car totaled one week ago, and are still working with bank to pay lien and disburse the equity I had. Adjuster is refusing to allow me to use my rental reimbursement coverage up to my allowed limits of $30/day for 30 days or $900 total. I have the coverage for situations like this where I am out no transportation and waiting to resolution. I should not be expected to find and pay for a new vehicle when I have not even received payment for mine. Adjuster is saying they are only required to provide for 72 hours. My policy reads like that is the case if it is my fault. I have spoken to supervisors with no luck. State board of insurance says they would have no problem paying it if the other driver didn't have GEICO and I was waiting on another company to issue a check, and recommended I file a formal complaint and look into bad faith attorney. Am I correct that I should be able to use my allowance until I at least receive payment? This is Indiana.

Update: A higher up over my local adjuster's supervisor called. They are going to extend the rental through 6/1 and electronically transfer my money via debit card so I get it today. Apologized profusely and are refunding my deductible as well.

Thank you for all of your replies.

?’s about ticketing vs “vehicle in error” and medical payout from insurance

    Posted: 28 May 2021 03:55 PM PDT

I was in bad accident about a month ago and my insurance says the police have noted the "vehicle in error" was the car that hit me. (They are at fault) but when I was reading the police report, I didn't see anything that indicated blame so I ended up getting a personal injury lawyer (a lot of firms reached out probs seeing public records) The other person does not have insurance and I have liability in ohio. Also the other person did not receive a citation for running the red light or for not having insurance which confuses me. My lawyer says it's that can happen in bad accidents (I was rushed to the hospital &they were treated at the scene) Has anyone else experienced this no ticketing thing? My insurance is paying out for my car and my lawyer is trying to get my insurance company to pay out for my medical bills. My health insurance did cover most my bills but not all. Do lawyers negotiate amount unpaid or the entire bill +pain/suffering? My lawyer said this will not raise my premium but is there anything else I should be worried about concerning future premiums? The person at fault also got a lawyer and now I'm stressed at the possibility of having to fight for my case for years. I was badly injured and I know I deserve compensation but I've been hearing horror stories about ppl in similar position as me &idk if I want to waste my time w something most likely futile. I planned on moving out the country for a dream job this summer, now pushed back to winter &idk if should open a can of worms that would be hard to close later. Thanks for any help understanding all this!

    At fault/DUI

    Posted: 28 May 2021 06:39 PM PDT

Almost 2 months ago I was involved in a car accident, while getting on the freeway I failed to yield and I was side swept by another car. I realize my mistake about drinking and driving and definitely paying the price.

Unfortunately after this accident I realized that I had the minimum collision coverage 5k property damage and 15-30k bodily injury. At the time of the accident the other driver and I said we weren't injured so no ambulance came to the scene. Almost 2 months later they are saying they are injured. If they are I assume it's soft tissue injuries. Their car was a 2004 Jeep Liberty...I assume they're going to total it out since the damages are probably more than what the car is worth.

I know I screwed up, but what are my chances of my insurance covering this other driver? And are they likely to come after me? The other driver had no insurance and a suspended at the time. But also I was under the influence. Also I'm in California

Just moved to Michigan and am confused by car insurance?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 02:51 PM PDT

    Hello!

So I moved to Michigan and I am so confused by their car insurance (ie: mini tort? No fault?)

This is what my current insurance coverage is, should I change it?

    1. Bodily injury and property damage liability: $100k each person/$300k each accident/$100k each accident

    2. Uninsured/Underinsured motorist: 100k each person/300k each accident

    3. Uninsured motorist property damage: 100k each accident/$250 deductible

    4. Medical payments: $500 each person

    5. Comprehensive: $500 deductible

    6. Collision: $500 deductible

I'm sorry if I'm asking too much!

    Medical Insurance

    Posted: 28 May 2021 05:22 PM PDT

In Texas, my insurance provides me with 100 days of home health care, whether that be skilled nursing, behavioral care, occupational care, speech therapy or a home health care aide as long as there are written orders from her doctor.

I was released from the hospital on 5/19 and my doctors orders for a skilled nurse and a home health care aid were approved on that same day. How long is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a home health care aid to come to my house? I cannot shower on my own and need someone here because I am afraid that my blood pressure will drop or I will become lightheaded due to the same thing happening when I was in the hospital because I had a major blood pressure drop. I was given clear orders from my doctor to keep my wounds as clean as possible, but since I am unable to shower or bathe I don't know how to do that. And I cannot stand up for long periods of time without feeling dizzy.

My insurance company has gone through three different healthcare agencies but have been unable to provide me with a Healthcare aide at this point. And each time they have to find a new healthcare facility, it takes them three business days in order to get all their paperwork together which just makes me wait even longer. I feel like no one is actually listening to me at the insurance company or the contracting agency that accepts the healthcare for facilities without actually finding out if they have staffing for home health aides.

The first company I was put with literally did not cover my area. Which was unknown to me until I finally called them after the sixth day and they admitted that they did not have anyone that could drive out to my area since they were based an hour away from me.

I have contacted my insurance company numerous times, and spent the last four days on the phone with them and their contracting agency and still I have no one. I live on my own and have had no assistance with regards to hygiene or just trying to keep myself clean after being released from the hospital. The surgery was for breast reconstruction since I lost both of mine to breast cancer last year. And I just don't know what to do at this point since no one listens. How long are people expected to wait? This is new to me.

I live on my own and have no one to help me. That's why I was so relieved that my insurance provided me with a home health aid.

I don't know if this is considered a denial of benefits or how to even go about this if my insurance cannot provide what is guaranteed in my contract. Can anyone offer me any assistance?

Serious water damage from upstairs toilet.

    Posted: 28 May 2021 09:44 AM PDT

Early this week we had an overflowing toilet unknown. We came home to part of the ceiling downstairs almost caving in from the water. Called insurance, for the mitigation company in and they have to tear our almost all Sheetrock ceiling downstairs and as well as the bathroom floor, more sheet rock through out and some carpet. All I hear is horror stories with insurance but our deductible is 300$ and this is going to be much much greater. How do we proceed with the adjuster, the claim and tips on process. It's been really stressful.

    Difficulty with Insurance company

    Posted: 28 May 2021 04:07 PM PDT

Hi, quick question. Can't find anything online. My sisters car insurance is due to renew and we've cancelled the automatic renewal as it's more expensive which is the usual case with staying an extra year.

Background is my sister has a twin sister

We've looked for new quotes but when going with any other insurer they think it was my sister who had accident when it was the twin and won't insure my sister.

We've contacted the existing insurer and they've confirmed there is no accident on record and have proof of 3 years no claims sent recently.

What steps do we need to take to get this corrected? This is in the UK. Not sure if this is the correct page to post in.

Renters insurance theft claim came back 1/3 of total value

    Posted: 28 May 2021 08:25 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm not sure what to do here I have assurant renters insurance policy which I thought had a good reputation... my policy is for replacement value and has a $100 deductible, last month my garage was broken into and I lost about 17k worth of ski equipment and other various goods. I received an email this morning saying my claim has been settled and they offered me 5k.

Looking through the claim information about 80% of the items I claimed they are paying out with completely different items. for example a North Face avalanche backpack, which I bought for $1,400 is being replaced with an Adidas children's bag on sale worth $35.

When I first signed up for renters insurance I spoke to them on the phone stating I do not have receipts for a lot of the items due to different credit cards, buying items off of craigslist ect. and they said photos would suffice. I spent the better part of a day photographing everything I own and inventorying it. I submitted my claim with photos and the exact model of item from the manufactures website.

they are claiming now since I don't have receipts they have no way to prove if the item is counterfeit so they have to price it with a comparable item they find. The thing is they are replacing my adult skis worth over $1,000 with children's skis valued at $200 and they are doing this to almost every product, ski bindings are being replaced with cross country bindings. When I tried to explain to the adjuster that ski bindings and cross country bindings are like comparing a basket ball to a soccer ball they still did not understand.

I am at a loss for what I can do?

Located in Colorado, Insurance company located in Florida

    TL;dr

Insurance is bending me over because I submitted photos of every item in the claim. what can I do?

    Boat Insurance Claim Denied

    Posted: 28 May 2021 02:30 PM PDT

My friends boat trailer poked a hole in his boat this last month. Progressive insurance sent out an adjuster and said there were scratches on the underside of the boat and called the hole normal wear and tear. They denied the claim. The boat is only 3 years old. Wtf? Could he make a claim on the trailer? Where do we go from here. We are in Ohio. Thanks for the help!

How to Get a Diminished Value Claim?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 01:24 PM PDT

Hey guys, so recently I was rear ended in a Tesla Model 3, its a 2018 dual motor with about 40,000 miles. The damage is pretty significant with the trunk being dented, the rear bumped gone, the quarter panel dented. A few other things are most likely damaged, but I'm just saying the damage I can see on the outside. How can I get a check for diminished value as I've seen these cars lose quite a bit of value after being in an accident. I am in Southern California

    Contractor Robbed Me. Grasping and straws {KS}

    Posted: 28 May 2021 09:29 AM PDT

We hired a contractor last year in April of 2020 to do a large renovation of our backyard, front yard and deck.

We put half down that was about 17k~

Then came the issues some obviously everyone was having: couldn't get day laborers, materials not showing up, the price of lumber skyrocketing. Family members dying etc.

We knew the contractor and their family personally before for years etc. I understand all of the giant red flags some ignored, some recently found.

Well it's about to be June and lo and behold, the guy won't return my calls or texts anymore, etc..

Lawyers looked them up, they've got Liens and judgments, no assets, and since we're in Kansas it would cost us 5-20k to get a judgment for 5 years that they will very much not be able to ever pay.

We did make sure that they finally got proof of them insured from Aug of 2020, which was was canceled on Oct of 2020, we were listed as the certificate holder.

This is a nightmare. Do we have any way to do anything, file a claim against it since it was active. Obviously I'm grasping at everything. We also don't want to use our insurance because of a roof claim the year before.

    Thanks for any help

Does anyone know of a service that compares rates from multiple companies?

    Posted: 28 May 2021 11:45 AM PDT

I'm in escrow and need to get house insurance ASAP. I went with State Farm and long story short, it ended up being way more expensive than it was initially quoted.

So, I was hoping to save time by applying through one company to get quotes from multiple business (I feel like I've seen that) but I didn't see anything after googling.

    Any suggestions?
