Finding Commission Only Sales Reps - Is this fair?

    Posted: 31 May 2021 06:16 AM PDT

Hey guys, I've been lurking in this sub for a while and wanted to consult with you guys on getting commission-only sales rep.

I know many people here are against commission-only jobs, but hear me out.

I recently launched my own start up, it's a SaaS for Employers, I have an MVP ready, but no paying customers, so I can't afford to pay salary.

However I do get in-bound leads and demo requests from businesses that are in-market. About 1-2 inquires per day, roughly 30-40 inquires per month, with an additional 20-30/per month once I start retargeting. I specialize in SEO & Digital Marketing, so this is covered by me.

I have zero experience in Sales (I am also non-US native, so I have an accent as well).

In this situation, I wanted to get Commission - Only Sales Reps and I wanted to ask these questions:

    1. How should I structure my commission, so that it can be fair? AOV is $1,500-$5,000 depending on the size. Big competition, but we have a unique product and most people are in a hurry to get a vendor, so close rates should be higher than average.
    2. Where do I find commission only reps?
    3. What commission structure do you think is fair?

Sales job advice with prior car sales experience

    Posted: 31 May 2021 11:48 AM PDT

I have been working as a car salesman for almost a year now. Since the microchip shortage started the sales went straight down and my job is commission based (which is not bad at all, but not during those shortages). I'm starting to think that it would be better for me to try something else, I've got quite a few ideas starting from non-car sales to something maybe like loan officer or maybe even insurance. What would be the best choice right now since I got a sales experience and I was pretty good in it?

First BDR position offered by a startup.. I will be the only BDR there.. Thoughts?

    Posted: 31 May 2021 10:27 AM PDT

This will be my first time working in sales SaaS and I have started sending applications to various startups as well as established firms in NYC.

I got an offer from a European SaaS company after the 3rd interview (engagement platform software) and I wanted to ask the more experienced people in sales whether this should be my first job in sales.

There are currently 50 employees and one business development manager in the U.S. They are trying to branch out to U.S market to build a pipeline and I would be the only business development representative. They offered $38,000 base pay and I would receive a percentage for each account that is actually closed. In addition, they ensured me that I won't be measured by a strict KPI and won't get fired for not meeting quotas each month. They also said depending on how I do, I'd be able to close deals on my own in a few months.

It's to my knowledge that startups can be a crapshoot and I won't have as much training as a new BDR compared to larger, established firms but I would also have more responsibilities at a smaller company.

My only concern is literally being the single BDR at a company and I am not sure whether as someone that has never done sales, it's a right place to start.

    Thank you for reading!

Like $20,000 worth of product or something like that and what was the commission like for that job?

    Pharma vs Medical Device Sales

    Posted: 31 May 2021 08:38 AM PDT

    Hi All,

I am considering entering either pharma or medical device sales. I was wondering what some of the biggest differences between the two fields are (other than the product), and maybe a few pros and cons of going into each.

    Thanks in advance!

    More Efficient SDR Intros

    Posted: 30 May 2021 09:52 PM PDT

This is a common mistake I've found SDRs often make on the intro of a sales call.

When dialling direct lines (including mobiles), try and avoid saying 'Hi is that [name]?'. By saying that the prospect will instantly assume it's a sales call and you'll immediately be on the back foot. Always assume you are speaking with the correct prospect and say your intro immediately and clearly. On the odd occasion that you do have the wrong contact, you will find out soon enough.

Is it common to find mistakes on a commission check?

    Posted: 30 May 2021 03:38 PM PDT

About 5 months ago I started working as a assistant manager at a cellphone service provider. I receive a base hourly wage as well as commission. Ive worked in sales most of my working life and I find this job very enjoyable so far.

What I don't find enjoyable is it seems like every single pay check has been wrong. Firstly they entered in my hourly wage wrong. I was being payed $2 an hour less than what was agreed upon. It was a nightmare to get that fixed but it did get fixed. Now what I am noticing is that pretty much all of my checks have been wrong. Missing sales, not counting hours, ect. What makes it worse is that it is very difficult to get anything fixed. The DM is responsive at first but then nothing gets done. Im just wondering if anyone else has this issue.

Hi I am basically willing to do anything related to sales if it doesn’t require me to get a 4 year degree... can you list all jobs related to sales that someone might not know about that doesn’t require a 4 year degree?
