Posted: 05 Apr 2021 09:23 AM PDT I live in Bangladesh and I work 70 hrs a week for my bank job. Now, I want to start a side hustle I can do during the weekends and another full time home based business model that I want to start for some senior family members. I am looking for Mastermind group on zoom, skype or similar platforms where I can join in and get mentoring. I am looking for groups that are free to participate and that is actually willing to mentor people in developing countries trying to start low capital businesses. Please keep in mind that what might constitute low capital to an American might be considered high capital to a Bangladeshi. I am active in the Facebook forums for small businesses in Bangladesh but I am looking for a more international/western perspective. This is because, much of the perspective here is usually based on traditional and low-tech methods and there is a stigma on low capital businesses and people don't want to share businesses ideas or models. So the right sort of mentorship has been difficult to find. [link] [comments] |
Best R&D Tax Credit Firms and Companies to Work With? Help Me Decide Posted: 05 Apr 2021 04:00 AM PDT After much consideration, me and the team finally decided to make a move and make use of the R&D Tax credit program. (We're a fast-growing fintech startup). [link] [comments] |
Disrupting a market with NO money. How does this work? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 09:35 AM PDT Ok, it sounds crazy and it is. We are indies, bootstrapping, have no funding, but an idea and a technology to turn a huge market on its head. Is that audacious? Yes, we know that, we're doing it anyway. Why? We have a very long-term goal, which I will explain later. What's the point? We are building the first tool for true async video meetings on timz.flowers. What are we now turning upside down? Well, the whole world does video conferencing today as live meetings... so find a timeslot, sit neatly, listen, look good and sometimes say something smart. Do it too often and you end up with massive zoom fatigue. What do we do differently? We say: send each other short video/audio messages, it's much healthier, less exhausting and the meetings become much more efficient. Why is no one doing this yet? Because they haven't found a smart way to navigate the complexity of human communication. Everything ends up in total chaos in no time if you communicate via video messages, e.g. in Whatapp or something. This is different at timz.flowers. You can just try our smart navigation and you will immediately see that it works great. Why is it hot now? Async first! With COVID the whole world has learned how remote works and that in the future nothing will work without remote. But: If you work remotely just like you do in the office, you're making a mistake. You have to trust people to manage their own time properly. And then you have to do as much async as possible because the synchronous meetings are way too expensive.
It must be the goal of every reasonable team to do as much as possible asynchronously and to make a live call only in the most important cases, in order to distribute these negative effects to the few topics where the live call is irreplaceable. That's why, in my estimation, the motto for the coming years is "Async First". Team efficiency and effectiveness When calls are available in atomized form, they can of course be analyzed much better. They can be easily transcribed by AI, reassembled, forwarded, and facilitated. All this with AI support. Along the lines of, "There aren't enough solution hashtags in your conversation, but too many contradiction hashtags. Hey, do you have a solution for this problem <link to problem>." You can imagine that the meeting results will be much better, but at the same time, people will not have a fully stuffed schedule anymore. You can also reply from a walk in the woods if you have an idea. This in turn will improve the quality of ideas as someone sitting every day all day long in front of a screen is downsizing their imagination and brain capacity. Our long way Now it's been a really long road over years to get to this point. We've only been soft-launching for 4 weeks and are in open beta now. We are still indie and invest every cent we earn into our team. The developers and staff are located in India, Argentina, Europe, New Zealand, and the Middle East. We are super diverse and totally proud of it. Why do we keep it all up? Because we have a long-term goal. We strongly believe that our usage paradigm will accelerate knowledge creation for teams of all types. Something everyone needs. The kids who can't keep up in school because of COVID. The remote teams, because the general pressure to innovate is ever increasing. And all of us, because we somehow have to make better political decisions to defeat climate change and live together peacefully. Can we disrupt the market? We have always believed so, but only the future will know. Why did we believe in it? Because the disadvantages of the current Internet are somehow clear to everyone. Echo chambers everywhere. We have implemented the principle of the attraction center, which is the opposite. Any information can attract any, while with the Echo Chamber only certain information is preferred - we all know that this is killing innovation and creativity. Maybe the disruption will happen simply because we have a clear idea, as you can test it in the first version on timz.flowers now. Maybe that will be enough? So far, this has given us the strength to endure the madness. Why am I posting this here? Well, we need feedback. People to try the Flowers so we can improve it according to your feedback and get traction. We can discuss the project together here and if I feel that this is going cool, then we can also give you VIP vouchers if this thing rocks, that we then stay connected with the early users. Just let me know if there is interest. I'm happy to answer all questions and incorporate your feedback in the app and communication. Sorry for the twists and issues and the website needs a designer, we know... we will immediately hire one, once we have the budget to do so. Thank you for your comments. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Apr 2021 10:39 AM PDT Hi guys, just curious if anyone has experience using virtual assistants from Peru? I am just curious because like the Philippines, I know that in Peru they learn English from early on and tend to speak it pretty perfectly. Just curious if anyone has experience or recommendations, or any other insight as to the VA culture there vs from the Philippines. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 05 Apr 2021 09:51 AM PDT Has anyone had successful stores built by freelancers on fiverr or anywhere? I've build a store and it didn't workout I was wondering if anyone's had success with paying someone else to build and manage a shopify store at first? And I mean like long term success? Affiliate Marketing - Do they work or not? Posted: 04 Apr 2021 08:18 PM PDT I just started looking into Affilate Marketing. The concept makes a lot of sense. But the question is, do they work? Or is it just a bunch of hopeful businesses and a bunch of hopeful work-at-home people? I see a lot of youtube videos but I question the reliability of the infomation. Anyone with personal experience to shed some light on the subject? Doesn't matter from Vendor perspective or Affliate perspective, I am interested in hearing. [link] [comments] |
Competitor to Robinhood/Webull (trading platform) Posted: 05 Apr 2021 08:18 AM PDT If I wanted to make a new trading platform that competes with apps such as robinhood and webull, that basically do the same thing as them, would there be anything (mainly legally) to prevent me from doing that? Say the platform was pretty much the same, but incentives to use it was the difference, what hurdles would I have (legally if any) other than advertising and competing with the already established apps? Establishing a dedicated conflict resolution business Posted: 05 Apr 2021 07:53 AM PDT A buddy of mine and myself have always considered ourselves to be the "devils advocate" of the group when it comes to disagreements. When it comes to mediation, arbitration and conflict resolution a company will often hire lawyers people in the legal system to come settle the dispute. Now I've talked to a few members at the golf course I work at, and they've expressed interest in this idea. The conflict group would be able to solve any disputes that a company comes to us with. This could be employee-management, employee-employee, management-management disputes, etc. This would provide a cheaper cost to the company as they do not have to pay legal and lawyer fees to settle disputes. What I learned as a 3x founder w/ 2 successes behind me, chasing building a social network Posted: 05 Apr 2021 12:42 PM PDT The road to success for a social network is littered with the spirits of smart entrepreneurs; including mine. Many friends, entrepreneurs, & VCs warned me… I couldn't resist. But there are fundamental flaws with social:
The Blank Canvas Problem When you give people a blank canvas, certain personalities & content are attracted to the empty state. This is great if you're rich, famous, beautiful & extroverted. If you're not those things, you can drop some funny memes to stay in the game. This is where we're at with modern social. There's one network that's changing this paradigm, I'll explain later. Binary Social Connections On current social networks, it works like this:
However, this isn't how humans interact with each other. We are a culmination of contextual unidirectional connections. What I share with grandma is different than what I share with my best friend. Funny thing is, she's doing the same thing. Humans are currently solving this by using different networks for different jobs-to-be-done. The explosion of messaging usage is also solving this job-to-be-done. Persona v1 We began by building a Path 2.0, based around questions to engage the users. Questions are amazing. They're how we naturally communicate and it solves the Blank Canvas Problem. For people who like answering questions, it's the near perfect form of content to drive engagement. We built questions around text, images, and videos. A standard social network. Guess what? It's too much work for people. I don't blame people, life is busy. Who needs an app dropping me homework every day? Persona v2 We switched it to selfie video. Problem solved! Easy to record. Very little typing or writing, just answer a question. "I don't like the way I look." "I don't like seeing myself on camera." "Do you have filters?" "Can I do audio only?" Problem solved. We switched to an audio-first structure. "I like answering questions for a few days, then I get bored." "I don't care to hear anyone else's opinion." Time ran out for us. What do people want? They want TikTok. They want instant entertainment of the absolute best quality & relevance to them. TikTok (whether intentionally or not, I suspect unintentionally) stepped into a Q&A structure when they launched Stitches. It combines the best of both worlds. It allows for a push-based approach (blank canvas) as well as a pull-based approach (questions). There's a powerful insight there that I will expand on at a later date, but for now it can be remembered as: TikTok is still crushing it. What did we learn along our journey?
What's next? We're working on something new based on these learnings. Imagine yourself putting in your AirPods as you head out the door. You open Fathom. Selling Digital Product/Ebook? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 05:23 AM PDT I currently have an ecommerce plan through Squarespace where I can sell digital products for 0% transaction fee BUT the only security measure is a 24 hour active download link... Was wondering if anyone had any other good platform suggestions or advice on selling a digital book, particularly if customer-specific watermarking is a feature. I know of Payhip and Gumroad. But I'm not sure the transaction fees would be better or worse than paying for the Squarespace Plan... [link] [comments] |

How to find help and funding for my app when I have no budget to work with? Posted: 05 Apr 2021 02:47 AM PDT Hello, I am building an app and I got an MVP which I am happy with. It has the most basic idea of the app down and it's functional. The problem is that there are soo many things that need to be done, and one of the main things is advertising. Of course the app is still not public, nowhere near, but once it is ready to be published, I can already tell this will be a huge problem. The app is community driven, like Tinder(no, it's not another dating app...), meaning that it will only function if there are other people who use it. So if I don't already have a good userbase, finding new users will be impossible. I am just a student with pretty much 0 funds to do anything, and I still need a designer to polish the looks of the app up, a senior developer to look over the code and help out with some things that I couldn't manage to get working(mostly animations, they are an absolute PAIN to implement properly), I need to pay for my server hosting and google pay/apple store and many more... What do you guys think I should do, where do I look for help? Should I maybe just try to sell the app if there would be any interest in it? I feel like I want to keep working on it but I'm really not sure [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 03:43 PM PDT Hey, i recently got this brilliant idea (imo), but the market is highly saturated and the competitors are very mature. I setup very quick landing page and did a quick mockup. http://pieps.io/ I'm a complete noob when it comes to making businesses. Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Apr 2021 11:54 PM PDT So Facebook is gathering all of this information all the time, and they know every little detail about everyone. I was very frustrated to discover that when I wanted to set up an ad campaign with them that I was unable to target the people that I want to target. I sell low cost Final Expense insurance to people who are already seniors that never bought a proper policy when they were younger. Typically these people are low income. People in higher income brackets tend to already have a solution worked out and dont need my help so targeting them doesnt do them or me any good. Facebook ads will only allow me to choose "top" income, but what I need is the low income. How have you guys gotten around this? I don't want to pay for leads only to discover during the appointment that they do not have a need for my product. [link] [comments] |
