For your lower paying positions: How are you preparing for the possibility of $15 minimum wage? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 02:33 PM PST I run a small landscape company in UT. Our local economy is booming, so the competitive rate for any labor has gone through the roof over the last 5 years years. I have recently graduated HS kids coming to me with zero working experience wanting $14-$15/hour to run a line trimmer. My business won't be too effected as I'm over the $15 for 80% of my experienced guys, and very close already for my lower wage guys. But I was curious: if your business has lower wage personnel, say $10-$11 per hour, how are you preparing for the posible increase? Not looking for an debate on whether it's right or wrong, just curious. [link] [comments] |
I thinking of makeing money online Posted: 01 Mar 2021 02:36 AM PST Hi, I'm a University student in a 3rd world country that is thinking of running an online business. This comes out as a curiosity I have and a step for financial freedom and wealth. I've researched POD, Dropshipping and Drop service as viable options. I already have a group of smart youths with the same ambitions and whenever we talk its all hunger and heavy thinking about how people made there fortune and philosophy. We are actually planing to start a POD shop, which is a good star because we wanted something of little risk. But what I want to know is if there is any new and/or future online business and/or business models that we should keep an eye on? [link] [comments] |
How do you manage your payroll and why? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:15 AM PST We're in the process of buying a facilities maintenance business and are curious what other small business owners have to say about their payroll companies.
Ideally we'd like to use a payroll provider that also offers HR functionalities too. We want to be able to manage PTO, benefits, onboarding, and payroll within one system but we are willing to split it up if that ends up being the better route. Thanks to everyone in advance for your input. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2021 07:31 PM PST As a small business, we are pretty reliant on recognition. I have Facebook reviews and those are helpful but a ton of people use Yelp as well. Yelp always takes down reviews I have though so I am left with a single review. Luckily, it's a 5 star but so are all the other reviews that aren't shown. The more reviews I have, the higher I climb up the pages. I have gotten called a bunch of times by Yelp, they attempt to solicit me and I reject...then a review I have disappears. I don't want to call them because they will just start harassing me to sign up for their ad services again. This just sucks because Covid has hurt business immensely, most of clients work from home now. However, having more reviews could help. Has anyone ever had success in getting their reviews back in to the main review section? [link] [comments] |

Do any of you own vending machines? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:02 PM PST If so, can you share if you think it's a good investment and any tips you've got? I'm thinking about buying 3-4 machines and finding good places to put them in developing complexes around me to have a little cash flow every month for a relatively affordable buy in (busy and expanding metro area). I know location is key but what else is there to consider? [link] [comments] |
How to manufacture a new product for sale? Posted: 01 Mar 2021 01:25 AM PST Hi! I would like to have a specific product manufactured and sold "on demand". This product is currently only made by a a few small companies in the US and sold for around 200-300$. I would like to sell mine outside of the US, I know that there is demand for it in Europe but no way to buy it there. Ideally I would like to sell it through Amazon (i.e. FBA) in several countries worldwide as there is currently no way to purchase this item there. I have already looked at dropshipping companies - this product is not easy to find, neither Aliexpress nor Alibaba have it, but it would be relatively easy to fabricate (it's similar to another product that is widely available, but the materials used for building are different). Any idea how could I have such product fabricated? Would it be possible to have a few sampled sent to an Amazon FBA warehouse and only create more if there is a demand? I am a solopreneur and I have very little budget. I already have a website targeting people interested in buying this product and I have been asked where such product can be bought, so I know for a fact that there is demand for it, so any idea would be appreciated [link] [comments] |

Paid Search Help Desk Live Stream Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:55 PM PST I've been working in paid search and social for the past 2-3 years, managing large budgets for top brands in home improvement, furniture, grocery delivery, home services, and a number of other industries. In my evenings, I spend my time streaming video games on Twitch. I've been streaming for about 5 months now and I've built a great community that I genuinely enjoy hanging out with and interacting with. I was thinking it'd be fun to put my hobby and my profession together to help small business owners with their search marketing problems and questions. It would be sort of a paid search help desk on Twitch where I can audit people's accounts, answer people's questions, and keep people informed on news and updates. My intent isn't to find clients or make a bunch of money out of this. I honestly just think it'd be fun to put my skills to use in this way. All work would be donation only. If people want to donate to support the stream, they can, but it's not expected. I'm hoping that people who are new to digital marketing and small business owners who don't have the resources to hire skilled search people would find this helpful. What do you think? Would you find this helpful? Would you be interested in tuning in and asking your questions? [link] [comments] |

How to Split Profits in a Small Business Partnership? Posted: 28 Feb 2021 05:59 PM PST How to Split Profits in a Small Business Partnership? I have the opportunity to start a small business with a partner. What is a fair way to come to the ownership split? My partner would come with the industry knowledge, connections, and some equipment needed for startup. He would also run the business with a salary (100k+). I would bring all of the capital needed to start the business. We need additional equipment, multiple vans, a warehouse, and will hire roughly 9 employees. I will not take a salary. I'm also committed to reinvesting 100% of my profit for expansion (for at least the next 2 years). [link] [comments] |

Paying sales commission based employees question Posted: 28 Feb 2021 06:50 PM PST I have a commission based employee that is asking to paid for tasks that I consider to be part of the commission. For example- they give a massage treatment and at the end of that treatment they throw the laundry in a bag and say good bye to their client. They are asking to be paid for this time - in my experience this is part of the commission. I'm unclear what to do and I've left a message for my attorney- but curious what other people would do. Because my employees receive a fairly high commission for the only income stream into my business- there truly isn't any more money to pay them. Any kind and constructive responses appreciated.
