lemonade insurance <- Have you made a substantial claim? How was the service?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 03:14 PM PST

Im looking for new renters insurance and considering lemonade, but not finding reviews from anything but folks that have had much of a claim other than their busted computer.

Im looking for a company that isnt going to be a giant pain in the ass on one of the "worst days ever" should it ever happen.

So have you ever had to make a substantial claim with lemonade insurance and if so please can you provide a recap of how well or badly it went?

    Secondary Health Insurance through Spouse

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:27 AM PST

Is it ever feasible and cost effective to have your own health insurance and to be on your spouse's plan as well? I have health insurance through my employer, but my husband just started a new job this week and I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to be added on to his so I would have secondary coverage. We are also looking into fertility treatments which my plan doesn't really cover but with his plan there may be some benefits available. The wording in his enrollment package didn't specifically state the details of the coverages so we're kinda in the dark in not knowing what would be available. Any feedback would be great. We reside in Michigan.

In a accident with a uninsured motorist.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 12:33 AM PST

Long story short, I bought 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo and 3 weeks later said person ran a red light and I totaled my car. She was 100% at fault for the accident. Didn't have a driver licenses nor insurance. After my 10.5 grand down and before I even make my first monthly payment, am I entitled to all that money back and if so, how does that work? I also had to pay 2 monthly bills and 1,500$ to finish my loan. I would like to have that money back after saving for over a year for this car to just be taken away from me. Some people say I won't ever see the money while other say I will. Has anyone else sadly been in this situation? Any advice and help would be appreciated! I have progressive if that matters.

Should I seek a lawyer? (car insurance/car accident)

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:06 AM PST

I (27M) was in a car accident. It wasn't a major accident, but turns out the driver had surgery. My insurance has been working with his lawyer. I received a notice by my insurance and the other driver's lawyer they are asking for me to fill out an asset form in order to settle for the policy claim. The medical bills have surpassed the policy claims. I do not have much in assets. I am insured under my parents policy. Will they also ask for my parents assets? Should I seek a lawyer?

I’m having a huge problem with my deductible.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:17 PM PST

On my insurance card, explanation of benefits, and summary of benefits and coverage it says that there's a 4,000 dollar family deductible and a 2,000 dollar deductible for each individual of the family that they can meet for themselves before the family deductible is met.

But my insurance is acting like the individual deductible doesn't exist even though it's on all of these documents. Someone from Empire Is supposed to call me Friday but I already made a complaint with my states division of consumer affairs saying that they are either fucking this up or they've intentionally misrepresented the plan to me.

What else can I do? The insurance is through my moms employer, should I get the employer involved?

This is only pressing because I have meds I take to not kill myself and I've already met my individual deductible but they're acting like my plan doesn't have an individual deductible. Maybe I'm paranoid but I also feel like they're doing this because last year I met my out of pocket and everything and was able to get tens of thousands of dollars in treatment covered in full.

What is the longest it can take to get a damage evaluation after the tear down begins?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 09:28 PM PST

I signed an authorization form to begin the tear down Friday afternoon (although the collision center received the car Wednesday, no one bothered to tell me I need to sign an authorization form then...), so I'm assuming they started working on it Monday at the latest, Tuesday they were not done (I called), no word from the collision shop today.

Are they doing the math and deciding whether to total it or is it normal to wait this long? https://imgur.com/a/XpFRQgz

The question of how tf this happened. Van in front of me, swerved out to the left to avoid a stopped car, van rolled over..., I slammed on my brakes and hit the stopped car....

Van also clipped a car in the left lane and that car went by and killed someone. California is a great place to drive... and my insurance is going to suck after this because hey I hit the 1 car....

And this is why I flinch now every time a van goes by me 10-15 mph over the speed limit.

    Car Insurance/Accident Advice!

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 09:02 PM PST

I was involved in a hit and run accident (New York) where I was rear ended and my insurance company ended up having to pay around $9,000 in damages; police were unable to locate the other driver. I am expecting my premium to go up and I was given a rental car with Enterprise that was included in my insurance policy.

However, I was involved in another hit and run accident today where my rental car was hit while parked in a lot leaving a small dent under the passenger headlights and a small crack on the front bumper. Police were contacted and they said there was not much they can do because of the time frame and lack of witnesses/trace of the vehicle.

This has been a terrible start to the year and I am scared that if I file this claim as well my premium will sky rocket to the moon and I am not sure how to proceed.

I do not mind paying out of pocket for the car rental, but will my insurance company find out about the damages? I will appreciate any advice given, as I am quite ignorant on how insurance policies work. Thank you in advance!

State Farm removing my road-side assistance coverage because I used it too much.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 01:40 PM PST

Is this a normal thing? The whole reason I got the coverage was to protect me from the financial difficulties associated with having my car break down, get stolen, or a tire popping. I used the coverage 3 times in 2020 and 2 times in 2019.

    Leaving the insurance business

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 04:07 PM PST

When it is all i have known for almost a decade and no real degree to stand on. I am in auto claims and literally have so much anxiety and trouble just showing up sometimes. I feel like i have no soul anymore I am constantly unhappy and it is affecting my personal life and health at this point. where do you start? prior to being in insurance i was in the service industry for over a decade. so just want more out of my job. is that just an impossibility? I feel so lost and i need a change because i cannot see myself doing this long term anymore. I used to be an independent adjuster, seasonal work great money but again seasonal.... and sometimes wondering where your next dollar is going to come from. I went staff a little over a year ago and the micro management and so much more i can't get on board with is becoming too much for me. The only thing is the benefits that are what is keeping me for & that is for my young family, 2 boys 6 & 2.

Storm damage to a shared retaining wall. Who makes a claim?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:04 PM PST

At the back of our property we share a 6 foot tall retaining wall with the neighbors behind us. During a recent ice storm, a tree that had grown around the retaining wall fell, pulling apart part of the retaining wall.

We have talked to the neighbor and agreed to split the cost of replacing the wall, since we both equally benefit from it, but do we have to prove that one or the other of us owns the wall before either of us can make a claim?

    Thanks!

    Lead Vendors.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 09:19 PM PST

I am a producer for an agency owner in Los Angeles. He is buying leads from Everquote, Quote Wizard, and All Web Leads. I would like to know what your experiences are with these vendors or if there are any others you recommend. I am newer to this game, but have my own opinions and doubts with each and would like to know if you agree.

EQ is by far the most reliable. AWL and QW provide home leads that are usually buyers looking for auto quotes. Half of the numbers and emails are bunk. There are major return issues with said bunk leads. Just my experience.

Please let me know what your experiences have been like.

NJ Family care - changing plans

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 04:50 PM PST

    Hello!

I have a tooth extraction appointment for next week and got a call saying that my insurance is not accepted (i have aetna better health). This is because I didn't realize my providers take united health care (i had it previously but i guess i was switched a year or two ago). I haven't been to the doctors in a while so i did not know my current plan isn't what is used. Is there anyway to change my plan right now? How long would it take to change?

    thank you all in advance.

Has anyone ever successfully gotten “alternative therapies” (ie NOT meds) covered?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:34 PM PST

Long story short, I am really sensitive to medications and have adverse side effects from basically every med I ever try. I was semi-recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and have anxiety and OCD. All of these ailments have "stress relief and self-care" included in the treatment plan. I manage mostly well with my lifestyle without meds, but there are alternative therapies that would help immensely but are hella expensive. These include massage therapy, acupuncture, float therapy, halotherapy, warm-water pool use, etc.

I was seeing an acupuncturist once per week at $90 per session, but that just got too expensive to keep up with. My rheumatologist said she would write a prescription for these alternative therapies if there was a chance they would be covered.

I haven't reached out to insurance yet because I feel like I already know the answer, but wanted to check here to see if anyone has ever actually gotten any of these covered and if you had to apply/petition/appeal and what the process was like.

I have Aetna managed choice open access for clarity and am in Ohio.

It just sucks that meds are covered and pushed at you, but when you want to try natural/holistic methods you are on your own to pursue those 😔

Insurance can’t find the other person policy number

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:09 PM PST

I call the other party insurance, and they said they can't find the person policy number? They try other method by searching for the person name, home address, phone number, and nothing came up. How is this possible? These information was given through an email by the police officer, and the other party have my info as well.

Can’t find liability insurance for an Estate Sales business

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:41 PM PST

My wife is currently putting together an estate sales business in Michigan. She needs general liability insurance as well as workers comp. Almost every major company has said they don't offer insurance for that business. She talked to someone at coverwallet who was able to offer a plan but we think it is overpriced. Does anyone know of any companies that offer insurance to estate sales liquidators? Thanks

Is there a way to view "past" Delta Dental PPO participating offices?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:04 PM PST

I'm curious if there's a way to know if a doctor participates in Delta Dental PPO in the past (February 2021, California, specifically). I can easily find the 'current' provider on the web, but can't search at specific time in the past. Is there a directory/pdf to check that?

I found this which is nice but it's for March 2021, but I'm more interested in Feb.

    Thank you!

    Health insurance and deductible

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 05:56 PM PST

I have a $3300 deductible. I met it, and then had a procedure done. When I went to have the procedure they ran my insurance and told me I owe $220, which I paid immediately because otherwise they wouldn't let me continue with the procedure. I now have received an EOB saying I owe $100 for it.

A few weeks later, I went to the doctor and had a few things done and was billed at the office. They told me it was an estimate and it might change later, but I had to pay. I did, and got an EOB for everything done with the price being less than I paid.

I just have a couple questions about it.

I've never met my deductible before now, and was told my insurance will pay 80% and I pay 20%. I don't mind paying any of the bills but I was wondering how to figure out if everything is correct. (I know the EOB is not a bill, so does that mean the bill might be different later?)

What did I pay, if not the full bill?

Is there a way for my insurance to know I paid something already?

What happens if I overpay and my EOB says the cost is less?

How do I figure all this stuff out?

    Any help is appreciated!

    Same Month Health Insurance

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 05:34 PM PST

I left my job the end of last month and am covered for health insurance til March 8. My new job doesn't begin coverage til April 1st. And unfortunately I thought I'd be able to get govt insurance to cover the time inbetween, but didn't look til today and am seeing I needed to apply by Feb 28th to get coverage in March.

Am I out of luck or is there something else I could get to cover me til next month?

What happens when you submit an auto insurance claim?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 05:19 PM PST

Car is from 2009. Pretty old. I hit a curb last night hard, Thought it was okay but it turns out the coolant system got hit. A couple days later the entire coolant is completely leaked out and refilling it makes it come right out. I can now start the car but can't go anywhere.

Can I make an insurance claim, what happens? Can I ask how much my rates will go up? Or is that not allowed (to see if I'd rather pay out of pocket or not)?

    Claims Training Programs

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 01:29 PM PST

I have seen various companies post positions on indeed for training programs. I'm a vet and have applied to the Allstate program a few times without hearing back. I have seen another posted recently for Liberty Mutual for Claims Training.

Has anyone done any of this, or can anyone provide any feedback on these positions and programs?

    Thanks

    Car insurance advice

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 04:53 PM PST

Hey all, I'm 24 and just bought my own car(2014 Mazda 6), in full for the first time ever (prior using a car family let me use). I went with State Farm for the insurance (prior to this I was under my parents plan, but don't live at home and cannot be on their plan). They're charging me about $270 a month which feels incredibly expensive. I had originally picked the lowest coverage option ($97), but I guess that didn't include Deductibles/premiums and it went up to $270 total. I'm located in Doylestown, Pennsylvania

I was just wondering if anyone has advice or suggestions so I can get something cheaper in six months even if that means switching companies. I've never had to purchase my own car insurance because I was fortunate enough to have help through family, so this is new to me and I'm embarrassed to say I know very little about it.

    Thanks in advance!
