I double down my efforts on a prospect every time I see one of these 10 buying intent signals Posted: We can't certainly go after a prospect with the same seriousness we do for all the hundreds of them we need to follow every day. Whenever I see one of these 10 buying intent signals, I double down my efforts:
Most of the closed deals within my team happen when one of these 10 signals are identified. Hope this helps your team to make sure no opportunity is falling off the cracks. Would you add anything else to this list? [link] [comments] |
What is considered the “best” sales jobs? Posted: I have been in sales since the age of 18- slanging everything from vacuums to personal fitness. I am currently selling in the pest control industry for a big company. I make 175k-200k per year with commission and hourly. I really enjoy my job and the security it brings. With the said there is no way this is "it", right? There has to be a bigger better sales position, just waiting for someone like me to come and destroy quotas....right? I know I'm extremely blessed, but I firmly believe in, "what's new, what's next" So my question is- what is an amazing industry/position that exceeds 200k? One in which all of you would dream of getting into? I imagine it would require a degree, which I don't have but am willing to obtain. Thanks so much for your time everyone. Happy selling!! Edit- I'm a salesman not a writer Edit 2- I work at a LARGE pest control company. I don't even try selling general pest control sprays as it's too cheap. I'm looking for full home termite curative or prevention, as well as other services that range $3,000-$15,000 Edit 3- I am top 5 in my state but there are sales people making 300k in other areas. For reference, I sold 1.5 million in revenue last year Edit 4- I have gotten nearly more DMs than upvotes lmao. For those going to ask- literally work at a regular pest control company. I just sell a lot Edit 5- I did not realize that the majority of folks on here are still searching for that six figure job. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I would be glad to answer more direct questions about my job and sales process if you DM me Last edit- lmao I feel terrible for the next pest control guys to roll up to your houses [link] [comments] |
Any NOT so pretty Sales success stories? Posted: Hello everyone. Currently at a solar D2D sales position. I have been planning to get into sales for a year now and finally got in when turning of legal age. First few weeks in I realized that reading about sales for a year is so much more different then actually going through the learning curve yourself. Everyone loves talking about their success stories, but I don't see so much of the actual stories of the blood sweat and tears that made them become exactly that. Does anyone want to share theirs? SaaS AEs and SDRs – How much freedom do you have with your sales operations? Posted: Hey everyone, I'm been an SDR at a mid-market SaaS company for about four months now. Wanted to see how sales ops functions at some similar organizations, specifically with respect to:
At my company, the SDRs are working about 150 companies at any point in time. We're required to work these companies for at least 3 months before giving them up (unless we are told no by a decision-maker). We have no say in what companies we receive. The AEs have been frustrated lately with the leads that are assigned by marketing (lmao). Some aren't in our ICP, some have been prospected heavily before with no success, some aren't showing any sort of buying intent. They have been pushing for more freedom to pick what companies we want to prospect, which hopefully will lead to some changes. [link] [comments] |
Becoming an SDR/BDR seems less impossible Posted: After reaching out to a couple people in this community that offered their help only one has replied back (It's only been 24 hours so I'm not too surprised) Either way if any current or past SDR/BDRs could answer these I'd greatly appreciate it! (bonus points if you're from Canada or ever better BC) 1.Did you go to college and if so do you think it was worth it?

Questions to ask when interviewing for an AE role?? Posted: Hey Folks - quick question for all the SaaS sales folks. My friend is interviewing for an Enterprise AE role at a pretty well funded fast growing company. Currently the company only has 150 employees and my friend is trying to vet out of this would be a good place to jump to. Question for the community (Would be awesome if Sales Leader's could contribute here too) - What are some questions you guys reccomend any AE asks when looking to join a startup to vet them out or not? Some that come to mind: Ultimately my friend is looking to see if it's worth jumping ship at his current gig which is going well. Thanks in advance folks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: What does the process look like for someone who starts of as a SDR but wants to transition to a sales engineer role? Is it easier to move from SDR to sales engineer within the same company? Or can I be a SDR at company A and then apply as a sales engineer at company B? Background on myself: I graduated last year with an Industrial Technology degree and I'm currently working as a QA/CMM Programmer for a small medical manufacturing company (8 months in) and I hate it. Before I worked in retail sales and enjoyed it for the most part and I was pretty good at it. A couple friends who sell SaaS told me to get into sales by starting as a SDR and move into an AE role after a couple years. I've looked into it, talked to various people and felt that I would enjoy it much more than what I'm doing now. But as much as I like sales, I'm not sure I want to do pure sales for the rest of my life. So I'm trying to get a grasp of other career options a SDR role can lead to besides AE. [link] [comments] |
How do I break into SaaS sales specifically over $120k OTE or a similar role? Posted: Hope all of you are having a prosperous short week!! Currently I do fuel sales(product and software) B2B and the earning potential was certainly there till I got taken off comish and put on salary. I have over 200plus clients I have built relationships with all over Canada(based in Toronto). The last couple weeks I have been applying to all the major SaaS AE openings at all the majors(Salesforce, Slack and etc). All I have been getting is rejection emails. Not a single interview, which I know I can win over with my skill set. So my question do this magnificent community is HOW DO I GET IN!?!? I have 3 years at this position, 2 years B2C phone sales and a degree. I have an established book of business and access to all of my companies existing clients as well. Am I doing something wrong with my resume? Does anyone have any recommendations for me? Am I asking for to high of a base salary (75k)? [link] [comments] |
What would you consider my job? Posted: I've learned a ton from this forum in how companies structure sales jobs, who does what, etc. I'm starting to think I'm a project manager who gets paid a commission. We don't prospect, we don't cold call. We don't have a specific product per say, but sell custom machinery. Everything is different and tailored to the customers needs. We do the estimating, write the proposals, enter the orders, manage the projects and handle the warranty issues afterwards. We get paid commission only on the profit of the job. Is that even a sales job? [link] [comments] |
Liquor Sales - Email Success Rate Very Low? Posted: Hello r/sales , I recently took a new sales role in Vancouver (moving from outside the province) and as such have needed to build a new pipeline. With Covid restrictions and general public feelings about in-person drop ins I've taken done most of my follow ups via email. The emails I'm sending are directly to the buyer and yet out of 150+ that I've sent I've seen maybe 11 responses. Is this a normal reply rate that everyone else is dealing with? I imagine these buyers are getting literally 100's of emails a day so how do I get noticed in the subject line? Anyone I have not gotten an email back from I move to a phone call and that is obviously more successful but sometimes the gatekeeper insists email is the best way to reach people that I've ALREADY reached out to. If anyone has any insight or advice that's why I'm here so thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
Anyone in strategic partnerships? Posted: I've been in saas as a top performing AM a while now but can't break into strategic partnerships or channel. My company keeps hiring from outside and while I get that the rolodex of relationships is important so is understanding and navigating internal relationships. I feel like chanel is the same thing as getting into sales where you can't get a sales job without previous experience but how do you ever get the experience if you need prior experience? Any advice on getting into partnerships? [link] [comments] |

Posted: I'm currently a Desktop Support engineer in the UK and have around 5 years experience in this position, however I don't think this is for me. A few of my friends work in IT sales and they're always talking about they're jobs, how much they make, and I think this kind of career will really fit me. So I've been working with one of my friends who is very high up in the industry and sorting out my CV and making it relevant for a Sales position, however I'm getting absolutely no responses when applying for jobs online. I must've applied for at least 40-50 roles now and I've not had a single call. I believe this is because I've been working in IT Support and have no relatable job titles to a Sales role, despite relating in the best way I can my previous role's experience into what I feel recruiters will want to see on a CV. I also don't have a degree. The roles I'm applying for are all entry level SDR, Inside Sales, roles that state you don't NEED sales experience and a degree is desirable but not essential. Am I doing something wrong? I've got loads of buzzwords on my CV to get me past the "computer CV analyser" but I'm just getting no where here. Any advice would be great to help me just get my foot in the door. *I'm also happy to include my CV if people think this is maybe the problem, however I'm not sure if that's allowed on this sub so I won't link it for now.* [link] [comments] |
Your dream sales job from 2021-2025 (and beyond). Thanks for sharing! Posted: What would be your dream sales job for the next 5+ years? Which industry? and why? Doesn't have to be the most lucrative as selling in some industries might require less travel, hours worked, etc.. [link] [comments] |
You're 21, don't have a degree, never had a job. What do you do? Posted: First, yes I'm going to complete my degree. I have no idea what to do though but I know what I want. I just want a sales job and an apartment. But how can I get a job if I don't have experience and the job requires experience to get the job!?! I was raised by helicopter parents and pretty much just focused on school. Was never taught how to apply for a credit card or pay bills or pay taxes or anything like that. My mom babied me etc etc. I have no resentment and I don't blame them, but I'm kind of clueless about what to do, and I don't want to be. I want to be in sales specifically because I think sales is an important skill. I've always been interested in persuasion, social psychology, building relationships, etc. I read a lot of books, but not a ton of practical experience. The only thing I've gotten really good at and learned and applied is training methodologies in like the gym. Went from a skinny fat weakling to a fit and strong individual over the course of 2 years, proudest thing I've done in my life. Aside from that I am reasonably well read and intelligent, but not the greatest student in the world. I'm a decently good looking person, always try to dress sharp, always try to have a smile on my face. I'm not super tall but I can wear soles so I get that height respect for the job lmaoooo (read that 58% of fortune 500 CEOs are over 6feet tall even tho only 14.5% of the US is. I'm 5'9 but I think I can get to 5'11 at least without people noticing.) [link] [comments] |
Update: a not-so-frustrated BDR anymore Posted: Hey guys I posted like a week or two ago about how frustrated I was. I was 3 months in and didn't have jack shit to show. My activity was crazy high. Always made the most calls and emails by a lot. Didn't really see any results though. Well, since Friday I have 2 meetings set. My activity is mid-tier now. What I changed was my method. I made it clear to send 30 short and personalized emails per day. 80+ phone calls to people I know I want to talk to, found this information vetting them on LinkedIn. I had a meeting today, pretty much done deal. Transactional sale, customer knew who we were and had already sold themselves before the meeting. I have another meeting set for Friday that would be a big deal for me, $250-$300k range. Of which, I'd get 2%. So that's pretty tight. As of now, I have absolutely no feelings to which way that deal could go. I can't wait for Friday for the meeting though. My main things were getting responses from these personalized emails. I have 3-4 more in the pipeline I'm working on. Coming from B2C, B2B is such a strange world. I got an email today from a prospect I've touched 30 times over 3 months and never gotten a response from. I haven't contacted them in about 2 weeks. Today, they emailed me asking details on our SaaS and I gave them a quick rundown and asked them for a meeting.....haven't gotten a response yet, but what in the fucking fuck haha I thought I'd never hear jack shit from him. Now I might have a meeting. Moral of the story? Slow down. Stop being a crackhead trying to bust out as much shit as possible. Personalize everything you can. You have to stand out, these tech folks get 100s of unsolicited emails/week and they're all super low effort. Just spend the 2-3 mins to write that 4 sentence quick and personalized email. Thank you to all that helped in the last thread. I took a little bit of everyone's advice! [link] [comments] |

Looking for tips on setting up a contract that maximizes sales performance Posted: Hi everyone, I own a B2B tech business and after several years of me being the only sales rep, it is time to expand and grow the team. I have already found a great candidate and have a pre-agreement to hire him. I'm preparing the contract and I wanted to know your suggestions on how to set it up to maximize sales performance. Look forward to your comments. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
What role on LinkedIn do I contact for a sales job/internship? Posted: I want a tech sales inteenship or sales engineer internship. I find a sales internship on LinkedIn. Who do I send a request or call at that company? What is their role? For example, "inside sales manager"? Or "account executive"? [link] [comments] |
Posted: I skim a lot of stupid stuff on Linkedin, news feeds, etc. but I do for the occasional article that articulates that nagging feeling that I can't quite pin down. Can your boss do your job? Does that matter to you? Best of luck wrapping up the month / Q1 r/sales! [link] [comments] |
What sales methodology does Salesforce use? Posted: I was wondering if anyone knows what Salesforce sales methodology and process is? Are they using Account Based Sales, Challenger Sales or MEDDIC? What does their process look like when they reach out to the prospect up to when they close. I'd love to hear from Senior Account Executives or Enterprise reps(the role I'm looking at). I'm interviewing with them next week. Any tips would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
